people and left more than 100 others hurt. gregg: we can tell you these attacks came two months after the car and knife attack that occurred at the westminster bridge just outside of the british parliament. the suicide bombing at the ariana grande concert in manchester that, of course, killed 22 individuals. great britain recently lowered from critical there terror alert system and it may now go up. in particular, people are concerned about this concert that is supposed to be held tomorrow. patti ann: the prime minister to resume is meeting right now in emergency session to discuss whether or not that alert level should be raised back up to critical level from severe which was downgraded to after being raised to critical after the last incident. the mayor of london has said, he
1:01 am
doesn't know whether or not it's really needed to raise that level insisting that love in london is a safe city and saying that concert should go on his plans because londoners are not going to cower to terrorist. gregg: it certainly is a new day in london. the investigation in its fair latest terror attack is really just begun. is good for fox senior foreign affairs who joins us now, once again, life from our london bureau. greg. >> greg and patty and. couple of things unfolding as we speak. right now at number ten downing street, home and office for uk prime minister to resume his meeting with her so-called cobra cabinet. that's the high level security that makes decisions and meets immediately following any kind of terror attack again, as greg, you noted we can see a raising to the highest level of security
1:02 am
threat level that this country had been on and had been reduced just a week ago. we've also been seen live imagery coming from the borough market area as we speak of swat teams, police swat teams, getting geared up, getting ready and it would seem to stage some kind of raid. some kind of break into some building there leading us to the presumption that perhaps please think there is somebody of interest in that area leading us to remember what the chief of police had said just a short time ago that they believe that they have all the individuals who were involved in the attack in their custody, killed. they left open the possibility that there could be more out there. there is police activity as we speak in the borough market area where in london the terror attack happened.
1:03 am
this is we get new figures in the past few minutes on the casualty toll. we been telling you about the six dead but of that 48 injured, several are critical and now we have learned from the french government that four of them were french people. two were australian, one police officer was injured as well. several of these are in critical condition and there are more injured on the ground. eighty medics really helping out with individuals on the bridge and this as we get more eyewitness accounts and more imagery of the flow of the terror attack which started at 10:08 p.m. local time saturday night that dan went at very high speed, high speed for a bridge and a sidewalk anyway about 50 miles an hour, halfway across the bridge it went up on the sidewalk and there were very grisly themes of the bodies both on the ground and on the
1:04 am
sidewalk and three individuals popped out of a white man when it crashed about a block after the bridge on the south side and went on their second stage of the terror attack wielding a foot-long knife and a stabbing individuals in restaurants and bars. there is one image of one of the terrorists down on the ground, this after police shot dead these three people. you can get a sense of what they're all about, camouflage pants and what please say are fake suicide belts around their middle. you can see canisters, beards, eyewitnesses described them as mediterranean in origin and yes, while they were doing their stabbing they were saying this is for or praising a lot, the muslim word for god. what we are watching closely is the central area of london right now remains on lockdown and could be the same more police
1:05 am
activity. now, we are looking at almost 11 hours after the actual incidents. the police are appearing to be getting ready for an action again. greg and patti ann five live in london, greg thank you. patti ann: at this hour the department of homeland security says it has no intelligence to indicate a credible terror threat to the united states. defense secretary james mattis also reacting to the attack and this is what he had to say. >> i don't know enough about it yet. let me get up to date and i'll talk to you. >> the london police are saying this is a terror attack and two dead and dozens wounded. >> i need to confirm everything. i like to learn something before i talk. let me look into it. >> is this why the united states needs a travel ban to strike. i need to look into it.
1:06 am
patti ann: that looks like it was several hours ago and presumably he is more up to speed now. in the meantime, griff jenkins is live in washington bureau with more on the very latest information coming from our nations capital on this terrific attack. >> he's traveling from singapore to and being brief. dhs briefing everyone saying at this time they have no information to indicate specific credible threat in the united states but secretary john kelly told foxnews last night that he worries that we are right around the corner from having a similar attack so the efforts of dhs and law enforcement agencies say that after aviation the biggest that we face is from lone wolf attacks from individuals have been radicalized. the dhs is telling americans in london to heated direction from local authorities and maintain security awareness advising anyone who needs assistance to contact the us embassy, the state department is encouraging americans over there to contact
1:07 am
family members back home to advise them of their safety. no indication, as of now, that any of the killed or wounded were us citizens and president briefs in the immediate aftermath and spoke with prime minister theresa may and trusting his condolences and praising the heroic response upon the police and first responders putting the full support of the us government, the president taking to twitter st. paul's whatever the united states can do to help out london and the uk, we will be there. we are with you, god bless. he also treated in reference to his blocked travel ban same quote we need to be smart, vigilant and tough. we need to the courts to give us back our rights. we need to travel ban as an extra level of security. you suspect. that is not responding to that question and speaking of extra security, by the way, we saw the aftermath of manchester, the nypd beefing up security and they've done that again point external critical command like times square and all quiet thankfully.
1:08 am
the nypd treating there are no specific threats so go about your saturday night. the new york cops are protecting you and prayers with london on the. patti ann: grafting is, thank you so much. joining us now danny colson, former deputy i director and fbi hostage rescue team commander. thank you for joining us let's talk about the hostage rescue situation first. after this happened, the police evacuated the area and continued their investigation even though they said they firmly believe that all three suspects were behind this attack were dead. they continued their investigation and the civilians were all evacuated with their arms behind their head is an indication that they were unarmed and innocent. what more can people do in these situations to present contributing to the chaos and also to make sure that the bad guys don't get to hide in the
1:09 am
crowd with the innocent? >> that's the problem. you want to be sure in a situation like that that what you've seen, this carnage that you've seen is just not a diversion of things to come. when you're in this business you treat everybody like they are the bad guy. if you're involved in one of those things, you need to be compliant, but your hands for the police can see it and do exactly as they tell you. one thing to remember is their nervous too. you don't want to take some preemptive action out of fear or confusion that causes them to engage you too. they did the right thing. you treat everybody like a bad guy until you know they're not and then you go on with your business. this is no surprise. we are at war. they say they will come do it and they'll use trucks and knives and kill us and they've done exactly what they said they're going to do. patti ann: what can we do? >> we have a saying in my
1:10 am
business that the police are minutes away but second matter. yes, you have to be prepared to protect yourself and what we tell clients especially for travel to that part of the world's carry an umbrella. it sounds trite but a number of it creates space for you either closed or open it keeps at least a knife wielding guy away from you until this thing can be resolved. but be prepared to defend yourself, run, hide, lock yourself in and if necessary use whatever weapon you have available. remember, in the mail and the populace is disarmed. if they come to texas and do that they'll get shot. with the concealed. carry permits, the police cannot fully protect you, yes, by time and weight to the authorities get there until something happens to intervene. patti ann: in fact, the londoners did do just that. when these attackers jumped out of the back of the van and iran into that market area and started attacking people in bars and restaurants the stabbing
1:11 am
them, you have a lot of courageous patrons who apparently tried to fight off these attackers through chairs at them, got very involved. do we just lose danny colson? looks like we look lost danny. gregg: picking up on what you just said. it's quite amazing that they grabbed chairs and began hurling them at the attackers who were wielding these enormous knives. they had been slicing people up and some reported to have been stabbed in the throat. others began hurling bottles at them and within eight minutes police were on the scene and gunned down the knife wielding assailants. when you think about it, in all the confusion, that's a pretty courageous action by the patrons and quick action by london police. patti ann: absolutely. tragically, we have six dead and 48 at least wounded but when you think about it it could have
1:12 am
been worse than that. gregg: this is just after 9:00 a.m. now sunday morning in london on a day that is sure to see plenty of developments in the terror attack but have claimed the lives as we said, of it six this hour. though they may be more because some are in critical condition. patti ann: we are tracking these elements and we will bring them to you live special extended coverage continues i had
1:13 am
1:14 am
1:15 am
1:16 am
gregg: were getting new reaction from visibly shaken eyewitnesses describing knife wielding terrorist bombarding the attacks they claimed the lives of so far six people. take a listen back were just keep running so we get to the -- [inaudible] gregg: joining us once again, steve rogers, former member of the joint terrorism task force. people are so fatigued with this, another day, another week, another month, another attack. we are at war and it seems like
1:17 am
a war without end. >> i talked to some parents and one woman almost in tears said i'm afraid to send my child to school not knowing what's going to happen next. you're absolutely right. you hit the nail on the head with the exception of president trump who i believe is doing a superb job to try to address this issue western leaders of the world are in denial. we are at war and if the western leaders realize that they'll take tougher, stronger stance against these terrorists and that we have to do. gregg: there is a tougher stand visibly. these are life pictures in london and i can't tell you precisely where that is but when you consider that 90% of law enforcement doesn't carry a weapon this is part of the other 10%. they are armed up and on their way. you know, do you feel as though european countries are not doing
1:18 am
enough to go into these isolated, segregated neighborhoods where there is no assimilation, large muslim communities where it's time to gain for jihadists? >> quite often you hear critic politically correct policies. this is the result of the critically politically correct policies not letting them go into enclaves where terrorists are being trained, there's a lot of propaganda against great britain taking place in those areas. so, you are right. they need to end the political correctness and to protect your citizens. look what we are seeing. our police officers because of a terrorist attack more has to be done to prevent these attacks and what has to be done is you let your police officers, your security agencies do the job that they are trained to do and that is to collect information, gather intelligence and then take action on the intelligence
1:19 am
before you get a terrorist attack five it seems strange to many americans about unarmed american -- >> i read a report earlier that community police officers were unarmed and they had to back off because they didn't have weapons. this leads us to a point of protection in country. the second amendment is controversial and there's a lot of talk about the right of people to carry concealed weapons as another level of security against terrorism. here in the united kingdom there will be arming most of their police officers real soon because it took eight minutes to get there and in those eight minute time look at how many people were injured and killed five the other problem, over the course of last 20 years or so, this sort of open border policy will allow anyone and everyone in. so, you have this enormous influx of muslim population and
1:20 am
some of our indigenous. they have been there for decades and decades but it is just aggravated the situation. >> well, remember, we talked about being at war and what our enemies have done is they've realized they can now take the battle to our neighborhoods. that's exactly what they're attempting to do. for years, we talked about fighting the terrorists in afghanistan and iraq and syria and they are thinking about, you know what, we can take the battle to the streets of the united states or england because they have open borders. gregg: they don't even have to train terrorist because some of these individuals are simply inspired and they receive general propaganda, go out and use whatever means and mechanisms you can't harm and kill people. >> for years, keep in mind, up until this president we were more concerned about offending people rather than protecting our own people. things are going to be changing now in this country and you'll
1:21 am
see a lot change in the united kingdom five was part of the change, at least initially, president trump's trip to saudi arabia to begin to work arab nations into doing more, to being more aggressive in fighting terrorism and the money behind terrorist organizations. >> absolutely right. it's a smart move. we need the coalition of foreigners and the middle east to address it. only the united states court to uphold his travel man. gregg: steve rogers, as many things as we continue to look at these pictures we do understand that scotland yard is going to be holding a news conference so petty and, were standing by. patti ann: we have a lot more coming up on our live coverage of the latest terror attack in london. it has put the world on alert and dulcoease for comfortable relief of hard stools.
1:22 am
dulcolax. designed for dependable relief.

1:25 am
gregg: we are having new images from the streets of london flooded with law enforcement in the wake of the deadly terror attack involving knife wielding terrorist taking to the streets of the united kingdom largest city. the scotland yard is about to brief the media and this is quite a show of force, as you see, armed military or law enforcement difficult to tell, looks like law enforcement but they are out on the streets in
1:26 am
force in some sections and we are going to take you live to that news conference that scotland yard as soon as it begins. first, let's go back to fox's senior foreign affairs correspondent greg alcott the lake is latest on a saturday night terror attack. let's talk about the imager you're talking up. the live it seems that we have been tracking for the last 25 minutes or so. yes, the borough market area that was the scene of this horrendous bloodshed last night. that was where the three attackers got out of the white van after they done their damage on london bridge and knifed patrons in restaurants and pubs and people on the street. what we are seeing now according to some folks on the scene is that the very least it's sweeping operation by police.
1:27 am
they want to make sure that there is nobody else out there. they think they got their man and they think the three individuals were shot and killed by police just about eight minutes after the terror attacks started last night were the only three involved there has been reports of four-five so what were seeing and this is corroborated by other people on the ground in that area is securing and making sure that everybody is out of there. the police are geared up with trojans and heavy gear so they are ready for trouble which means there could be trouble so right now we are not seeing exactly what whether there will be any kind of offensive activity. as we track another event happening at the ten downing street, prime minister resume
1:28 am
meeting with the cobra committee which is their top level security anti- terror group that they can been whenever there's something serious like this happening. we are expecting to hear from teresa mae within the next 30 minutes or so. we could hear her say that they are raising the threat level, the terror threat level back up to its most severe. it had been dropped about a week ago to the second level. this after have been raised to that level following the manchester bombing about two weeks ago. otherwise, were getting a bit more of a breakdown, greg, on those killed and those injured in this attack. we've been talking about six dead, 48 said to be hospitalized and we have confirmed at least two french citizens were injured and there are reports of at least one or two australians and a person from new zealand. we have no confirmation of any americans involved in this but it does sort of talk about that area, london bridge, borough
1:29 am
market, the south bank of the thames river, a very busy tourist area in london, perhaps why these individuals perhaps targeted this area with an international grouping as well as british people, of course, too. we got another image in the past hour or so that perhaps we can show to our viewers. it's one of the three attackers who apparently had been killed by police and we get a little better sense of the modus operandi, camouflage gear and other items. we'll go back to you now, greg. gregg: take a listen. >> my thoughts are with all of those affected, those injured and the families of those innocent people who have died while out and join a saturday night in our capital.
1:30 am
in the early hours of this morning, i visited one of the hospitals where the injured are to being treated and there i heard truly remarkable stories of extraordinary brave action by officers on and off duty were first on the scene. i also heard from colleagues of other emergency services and members of the public iran towards the danger as this incident unfolded. many, many people wrist their own safety to help others and to treat those seriously injured. and indeed, to confront the suspects involved. it is clear to me that the courage of those people during and following the attacks, were extraordinary and i pay tribute to all of them came to the aid of those in need during this
1:31 am
dreadful attack and i am sure, helped to save lives. as you know, our officers confronted the suspects and brought this terrible incident to a conclusion within eight minutes. it is now being confirmed sadly, seven members of the public have died in addition, as you know, we believe, three suspects dead. my current information is that 48 people have been injured and 48 people were indeed taken to hospital for treatment. just to remind you, we were called at 10:08 p.m. last night initially to reports that a vehicle had struck pedestrians on london bridge.
1:32 am
that vehicle continued to drive from london bridge to borough market. the suspect then left the vehicle and a number of people were stabbed. the suspects were shot dead by armed officers. we believe that this incident is under control. however, a large court and remains in the area around london bridge and borough market and the remaining officers on scene as we need to carry out a thorough search of the area to ensure that everyone and to make the whole area safe. i do appreciate what has been a terrifying experience for many people and i would like to thank the people affected in that area for their forbearance as wey ou. to anyone who is currently within the court and, our advice
1:33 am
is to stay inside and our officers will be in touch. if you are concerned, of course, contact us. london bridge station and the underground is also supposed. so, for people who might be thinking of traveling to that area, i would ask that you still avoid the area if you possibly can. this is a fast-moving investigation, we have very significant resources deployed, both to the investigation into the visible patrols the people will be seen as a wake up this morning. we will have increased patrols in many areas and these will of course, as you expect, include armed officers. there is an emergency number established for anyone who is concerned about their loved ones who perhaps have not returned home and the casualty bureau
1:34 am
number to remind you is 0-800-096-1233 our priority now is to work with our colleagues in the national counterterrorism police network and also with the intelligence agencies and other security services to establish more details about these individuals who carry out the attack and the background to it. finally, this is a very worrying time for people and i do understand that. i would ask people in london, londoners and businesses, to remain calm, please, of course, be vigilant and if you see anything suspicious, anything at all, or you're concerned about anyone at all, even if you think it is very insignificant, don't
1:35 am
hesitate to contact us on the anti- terrorism hotline, 087-9321. your information could be a vital piece of information. thank you very much. i'll take a couple of questions. thank you. [inaudible] you will have observed that we were able to respond to this incident extremely quickly, within literally eight minutes. we were already at a very high level of alertness, severe means that an attack is highly likely and the threat level was at severe. we were prepared potentially for an incident as we have been for some considerable time. the threat level is a matter, as you know, for the independent j tact, the analysis center and they take the whole range of factors into account in setting
1:36 am
the threat level. in my view, we responded extremely well to this ghastly incident. [inaudible] our understanding is that they were three people involved in the attack. we have witnessed reports of three people armed with knives and three attackers. we believe that the threat they posed was neutralized within eight minutes. of course, it's a very complex and confusing scene and a confused series of events. it's important that we first of all, make sure that there is no one else outstanding. we don't believe there is but we must make absolutely certain of that. as i said, we have a very large investigation ongoing and we will be seeking to establish whether anyone else was working
1:37 am
with or assisting in any way or helping and planning of this attack in the way that you would expect. so, at the moment, we believe there were three attackers and we believe they are dead. [inaudible] i can tell you that we will be doing absolutely everything in our power to try to stop such a horrendous attack is this and will be working with the government and with our colleagues in the intelligence services to do so. [inaudible] we have a good working relationship with our american colleagues, normally, we share information with them and indeed, we depend on them to help keep this country safe. i cannot give you information about whether or what we have or
1:38 am
haven't, it's early stages but my working assumption is that we will, of course, be sharing information about billy with our american colleagues. [inaudible] i can't tell you anything about the identity of the subjects at the moment. odyssey, high priority for us is to identify them, work out they are, where they came from, what and i'm not prepared to comments at all on any information that we currently have for you understand why. [inaudible] we had very good resources i would say, extraordinarily highly trained people we been trying to prepare for an attack like this. we have excellent working relationship with colleagues in the agency's and we have officers on the streets of london all the time. these sort of things, as you know, as is quite apparent are hard to predict and sometimes sadly, have been proven over the last few weeks hard to prevent.
1:39 am
we clearly will have to look all of us in the light of the western attack and the manchester as our resource levels and how we use them. that's just a natural thing to do. i believe our department is well resourced. [inaudible] we benefited from military when the threat level went to critical. as you know, there is a cobra meeting this morning and i'm sure that j tact will be assessing whether the threat level should go up or not and if it were to go out or if we felt the particular need to ask for military reports we absolutely would do so. i can't anymore at this stage. one more question. [inaudible]
1:40 am
absolutely understand that this is a worrisome time for everybody. there is going to be a considerable concern by some people and fear, indeed, among some people. i think we are asking for the people do not overreact, people will make their own decisions about what they do or don't do but what the last thing we need is people overreacting or beginning to take out their frustration on other people in other communities or in their own communities. so, we would like people to allow the police and intelligence agencies to get on with their work and to remain calm. of course, we would want people where they feel able to carry on with their normal life. [inaudible]
1:41 am
i don't, no. thank you. thanks very much. gregg.patti ann: even hearing fm scotland yard. that was the commissioner of metro police and unfortunately she did just confirm that the death toll in the london terror attack has now been raised to seven. joining us now, bill gavin, thank you for joining us. what did you think about that press conference? anything hit you? >> patti ann, were still in that defensive mode that europe has been in and addressing these situations and the whole policy of open borders that have occurred for both two decades in the european countries the policy of that letting happen is now coming home to roots. they forget that today's improperly or un- vetted
1:42 am
immigrants is tomorrow's potential terrorist. they need to keep that in mind. these people just make some of these are coming from fraction or field states, coming into the european countries and in our own country as well. i'm not there the people are coming in the men in 20s-30s coming to our country are not there to do our country's good. they're there to do evil. they had come into the country without being willing to be assimilated into the country. they invade our democracies in order to turn our democracies into a caliphate. it should it happen. it won't happen. we are at war with radical islamic terrorism. as shakespeare said, let's put the dogs to work. it's time to address this and in an offense of manner. not defensive.
1:43 am
it was difficult but we need to do that. patti ann: sorry to cut you short but we iran out of some time there because of the press conference. thank you for joining us. gregg: as you just heard, scotland yard raising the death toll to seven. that may also change as we get more information because of the mayor of london pointed out many of the 48 who were injured are in critical condition. we will continue to follow that as well. patti ann: stick with us, will continue our special live extended coverage next

1:48 am
the same thing happened here. is he correct? >> i think he is correct. for our guest and myself earlier tonight, we said that we are at war. king abdullah of jordan said it best, world war iii. this is world war iii. i like secretary kelly and we've got to be vigilant but again we have to think outside the box to do those things to prevent terrorist attacks rather than always responding to terrorist attacks. gregg: people have been dwelling on the attack in paris, denise, belgian, great britain, three of them in as many months, germany, we've had our own, orlando, san bernardino, right? >> we sure have. i've advocated better use of what we call open source intelligence. let me tell you what i'm talking about. when our intelligence authorities begin to look at
1:49 am
suspects many of times logo on google. google only gives you so much information. it doesn't give you a deep dive. as their more and more data, more and more information today it's tougher and tougher to find the abrasion you need. there are more gated search engines out there. i use one back in 2012 revealed that the iranians were on the ground in north korea helping them with the ballistic missile and nuclear test. that's what i'm talking. we have to harness that kind of new technology out there to prevent terrorist attacks and take the fight to them. gregg: man, many thanks, sir. patti ann: up next, scotland yard moments ago that the united kingdom fully intends to share its intel with the united states. gregg: coming up next will hear from the former cia officer on what that information might look like. stick around for continued life coverage. we'll be right back what'd you earn double miles on, please? ugh. that's unfortunate. there's a better option. the capital one venture card. with venture, you earn unlimited double miles

patti ann: drive joining us now in new york on his insight is. thank you for joining us. isis has not claimed responsibility for what are some of the indications that that might be the case here? >> based on all the attack vectors we've seen so far this would line up with other things in the past that isis has done. the exhortation for adherence to not go to syria or iraq but to
1:54 am
take jihad into their own hands, literally, using vehicles, using knives and whatever weaponry they have at hand. we also have expecting escalation of those kinds of attacks during the month of ramadan and this does look similar tactics to what happened at westminster recently so, for those reasons it certainly seems like an isis inspired attack. everything points that right now. we'll find out in the hours ahead that that's exactly what happened here. patti ann: it's scary because were talking about a soft target. not something like an airport where you go through security, something where there's a crowd gathered but we have hardly any way to stop it. how do we stop it? >> fortunately, police response was rapid and they were able to take out the three attackers within minutes. that's why the body count isn't higher than it already was. in this instance, people want to ask why hasn't desmet can't there be prevention two of these
1:55 am
attacks? you take counterterrorism police and security authorities are stretched very thin dealing with all the suspected radicalization cases that they have and sometimes there are indicators but sometimes there's nothing that could have been done. there wasn't a mistake made by the jihadist partners in the run up to this kind of attack and so it turns into a numbers game and they have to be right under percent of the time on the good side site and if they're not, quickly, and attack happens. patti ann: politically what can happen? >> there's an election coming up and you'll see some discussion of the possibility of an escalation against isis and iraq in syria. i also think you'll see a discussion on crackdown on home about radicalization which is happened in the past in the uk. patti ann: you so much for joining us. greg. gregg: seven dead, 48 injured in a terrorist attack in london last night. three assailants shot dead by police and were expecting the prime minister to resume to be
