an officer that rushed towards a potential suicide bomber thinking of only protecting others. >> seven victims are dead, 36 injured, 21 in critical condition.all three known attackers are dead.what is unknown is the amount of support they had pending the attack.police have conducted raids into neighborhoods in london. 12 people have been picked up in the raids. with the united kingdom having endured three attacks in three months, the prime minister theresa may has heard in her language related to radical islamic violence. >> we cannot allow this ideology the space it needs to breathe. that is precisely what the internet and the big companies that provide internet-based services provide. we need to work with allied democratic governments to reach international agreements that regulate cyberspace. to prevent the spread of extremists and terrorism planning.>> if you are not

near the crime scene in london you might not have known that there was an attack. the british people on a sunday were defiantly out on the seat at cafcs, at pubs, several of them think they change their lifestyle, then the terrorist someone. >> mike tobin, thank you very much. they are in london and mike is reporting there is more developing each hour as british counterterrorism authorities work to investigate those behind london terror attacks. we are live in washington where we are following the investigation. garrett, what can you tell us? >> british security sources are reporting the very early indications suggest that the attacks may have been put together on short notice. right now one of the top sent by say this could have been part of a larger plan additional attached to becoming. this is why they're now trying to learn as much as they can about the three attackers. they were, who do they communicate with and who if

regularly receives classified briefings divided the terrorist threat into two groups. isis style low-tech attacks with knives and vehicles and then the large-scale attacks such as those from al qaeda. on airplanes. >> i do think again that you have got some groups that are looking for a big player taking down an airliner. you have got others who need very little support, very little planning that can do incredible damage which is actually in many ways, almost more of a terrorism because you go anywhere, do anything you wonder what can happen at any moment. >> while the us remains under a constant threat of a terror attack the department of homeland security told us again today that at this time there is no specific credible threat of an attack here at home. >> that is good to hear. garrett tenney, thank you very much.
2:07 pm
meanwhile after the third terror attack this year, the british prime minister theresa may is calling on allied governments to work together against extremism. the british leader is saying corporation is vital as she spoke only hours after last night's atrocity. >> this is as we all know, the third terrorist attack britain has experienced in the last three months. two weeks ago, the manchester arena was attacked at the same time. the security and intelligence agencies and police have disrupted five critical attacks. the recent attacks are not connected. but we believe we are experiencing a new trend in the threat we face. as terrorism breeds terrorism. >> join us now we have doctor ariel cohen senior fellow at the atlantic council. thank you for being here.
2:08 pm
i want to start by getting your thoughts. what came to mind when you first heard the prime minister. she also said that britain is too tolerant of extremism. >> i agree with the prime minister. for an was the breeding ground for islamist most radical ideologies and organizations since 1990s. they tolerated way too long people who openly stated that they want to convert the british interior islam and impose -- for britain there were demonstrations in london i saw with my own eyes. i also advise the british muslim community which tried and failed to communicate to their government that they needed to tighten things up and prevent people flying in from the middle east, preachers to
2:09 pm
plan for a weekend calling to kill christians and jews. i advised on measures with regards to the regulation of the mosques and the brits are very liberal. they are very fair people. and now they are reaping what they were selling in years past. >> prime minister amazing is comfort difficult conversations i'm asking how do you discard political correctness, face a furious and deadly problem that britain, us and other world leaders need to example and still not paid all modems with a broad brush? >> first what you are absolutely right. the majority of muslims are not extremists. and they shudder when they see what they are religionists are doing. but we would be expecting is more condemnation from the prominent members of the muslim community. both in the uk and here in the united states where instead, we have organizations like care
2:10 pm
that are often whitewashing and advocating for terrorists. >> how would they be advocating for terrorists? >> they tried to explain ways some of the most heinous and extremist crimes that terrorists commit. and explain by oppression worth islamophobia and things like that. but back to britain and other european countries, first of all in europe, there is a breach in counterterrorism measures because what we see in britain is how the police work which is reactive, not preventive. what they need to do is much more prevention. much more intelligence work, domestic security work to identify the perpetrators but also the preachers, the recruiters.
2:11 pm
the connections to isis, islamic state, al qaeda and other radical organizations. also, in europe major terrorist organization is not considered a terrorist organization because they are not -- in the european countries. >> let me jump in doctor because you're talking about proactive measures.the president believes the travel ban is just that. as you know many lower courts do not agree that a muslim man is the most effective appropriate for legal route to take. so how can the us effectively responsibly and boldly read the charge to conduct necessary and specific investigations and intelligence gathering to put a stop to extreme islamic terrorists?>> the united states right now is not the number one target in terms of terror attacks on our home
2:12 pm
soil. europe is. europe was identified by the leaders of terrorist movements in the mid-2000 as a target for attacks. 500, close to 500, were murdered since 2014. worldwide by the way, the majority of terror attacks by radical islamists are against fellow muslims and the number for this year alone is 4500. 4500! >> doctor, listen, listen to the community, they attention, open your eyes. >> we need to cooperate not with just the democracies which mrs. may propose. we also need to cooperate with the middle eastern countries that have intelligence about these organizations.
2:13 pm
>> are those countries comfortable what countries are we talking about? and are they willing to share intelligence?>> absolutely they're willing to share in the due cooperate. countries like egypt, morocco, gulf states, united arab emirates. and others. so we need the area expertise and the language expertise and also the islamic expertise. you need to work with moderate muslims to penetrate these organizations. so there is plenty of intelligence work but there is also a broader educational issue. we need to reach out proactively to the masses of muslim youth to explain to them that this is not the way to go. those who got that way will end up dead. >> doctor cohen, strong words. thank you very much. we will leave it there sir. thank you very much. >> meanwhile the easter season has come to a close on a pretty somber hour. pope francis praying for the

politically incorrect president has been calling for for some time. the president is a far less friendly relationship with london's mayor. this is first muslim mayor. we will explain why later today listen.>> is the guy that said that terrorist attacks are just partial with living in a big city. by the way it took six years to even mention islamic extremism, we are now, there are probably 20+ thousand people in europe that sympathizer's radical jihad is in. we are well beyond the end of conversation with the muslim community good is the counter insurgency right now. >> after the attack the mayor told his constituents that there is quote - no reason to be alarmed. a spokesman says he was simply urging londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police. including armed officers on the streets. he is now accusing the president of deliberately misconstruing that remark in this to quote - at least seven day, 48 women in terror attacks and the mayor of london so
2:31 pm
there's no reason to be alarmed. it appears the us embassy and london is now the same page as the president. the second most senior embassy official just praised the mayor on twitter saying i commend the strong leadership of the mayor of london. as he leaves the city forward after this heinous attack. now, president trump spent the day at a golf course in virginia and two sources on capitol hill are saying that he played golf with tennessee senator corker and peyton manning who plays football at the university of tennessee were played at the university of tennessee. he will be going back out again shortly to speak at an event in dc. the president could make his first full public remarks about this terror attack later tonight. >> if he does we will have it. for fisher thank you. >> we will await for remarks from the president later on today. he's already pointed to the importance of the travel ban.
2:32 pm
this is law enforcement officials have stepped out security at airports, bridges and mass transit stations across the country. will is live at lax with the very latest on the measures being taken there. >> hi eric.through controversy and the report is the trump administration has maintained that the travel ban is all about keeping americans safe here with that in mind a short time after the attack in london yesterday because the president took to twitter tweeting we need to be smart vigilant and tough.you need to get back our rights. many of the travel ban as an extra level of safety. authorities in the both united states and europe are on high alert after a rush of terror attacks on soft targets but knew caused by the trump supporters for the supreme court immediately on the travel ban to go into effect. take a listen to the former deputy attorney general. >> the atmosphere can afford the court ruling things like this but i would look at this
2:33 pm
and see the london bombings you know if there are actions taken in response to this, then you go back to the arguments with the lower court. have trump's ill advised campaign statements about muslims and about islam now tended everything he's going to do for all time? with respect to terrorist actions? >> at this point there is no timetable on when the supreme court may rule on the travel ban. it does come as authorities are asking for travelers to remain vigilant. take a listen to one flying from los angeles to london. >> in all honesty we have security mechanisms in place. so like i said you cannot live in fear. you have to live your life. >> that said, other passengers so that they do have real concerns about so many attacks in such a short amount of time. >> certainly understandable. thank you will. >> as we have been reporting the president hopping on twitter to share his opinions

headache and weakness. ready to let go of hep c? ask your hep c specialist about harvoni. >> they are finding new ways to disrupt us, harmonics, attack us. the police and experts in us are finding new ways to keep us safe. london has seen an increased police presence today and over the next couple of days. no reason to be alarmed. >> that is the london mayor on the terrorist attack that struck his city. in a treat -- in a tweet president trump said at least seven day of 48 wounded in the terror attack or the mayor of london says there is quote - no reason to be alarmed. what did the president mean? is he right or see way off?
2:39 pm
we have a columnist for the national view. it has been pointed out that the term no reason to be alarmed, the mayor was referring to the armed police on the street. not necessarily the continued threat of terrorism. so what is the president of two? quest journalists, lots of people in public life sent out messages. the usually have fact checkers. by lisa somebody they show it to to say can you check this? the president apparently has no intermediary between himself and his tweets. this is an instance where he could have used one. >> to tell him know this is not a reference to terrorism. >> or how about the president just himself saying i will count to 10 before i send this out? >> there are potential tax and the whole issue. >> obviously there is reason to be alarmed because we have 3000 people in britain.
2:40 pm
the vast majority of them muslims i terrorist watchlist for their behavior has extended her interest in law enforcement officials 24 hours a day. that is incredibly expensive. the reason why we cannot have more people monitored that way is because it's so expensive. my proposal is if you are a noncitizen britain you are there is a privilege, not as a right. they can be deported. because obviously behavior is that they are being watched 24 hours a day. >> the numbers are standing here today hundred 50 came from syria libya 850, the 3000 on the watchlist and 23,000 according to the times of london. people who are potentially sympathetic. i mean that's just - >> accomplices. >> is there any way for western societies to get a handle on this? it has been suggested that perhaps those for some among them should be potentially detained temporarily. is that impossible
2:41 pm
constitutional or legal? >> they do not have a constitution. they have a common law. so they can pretty much do whatever they want. i think if you are noncitizen of britain, you do not have a right to be in the country. and frankly, we can probably watch all of the terrorist suspects if we simply deployed the noncitizens or lisa started to move towards her. were they have to come up with in its place why they need to stay in britain.>> what about people on the watchlist? we have potential suspects. there have been operations ongoing right now. what should we do? >> i believe less of a problem in britain because of better ports -- our muslim community in this country is far more in agreement than the one that britain has. having said that though there are still homegrown terrorists in this country. if they are native born obviously that full constitutional rights.
2:42 pm
if they are not native born that we have a conversation with them and perhaps we -- if you are a citizen you do not have the right to be here automatically.>> we have to be charged or convicted of a crime before they take action. because of civil liberties. quickly we have a green card here that's a privilege. if you're here is a student and you arouse suspicion that can be revoked. if you're here on a visa and have committed a crime, it means you can be deported. >> you think we have been not tough enough? >> clearly we have not been tough enough! something like 40,000 people have rated serious crimes in this country. they were released from jail than last year and 1/2. they did not go to the ins. they did not see i.c.e., they basically walked out on the street. they should have been sent to a center or at least they would have been processed and interviewed. potentially sent back to the country of origin.
2:43 pm
>> the president in a tweet blames political correctness. he says quote - we will stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. if we do not get smart it will only get worse. we talk about let's say kicking somebody out, on suspicions of terrorism and it is not happening now. apparently. >> no, and i do not suggest it should happen for citizens. certainly the president has been very ham-fisted about dealing with this. most of the travel ban's have serious problems with them. i think the supreme court will eventually declare a constitutional. the president has done damage by the way he is going about handling this. he certainly created an impression even though it may not be true that he is anti-muslim. >> despite that what you think he should do quickly to try and get a handle on terrorist activities in this country? >> we need to have much better coordination with countries. we need to regardless of whether or not there are
2:44 pm
discussions on this we need to have much better discussion with our neighbors especially mexico and especially central american countries about people slipping through here. because it is pretty easy for someone who is not mexican or el salvador in to somehow get to those countries and slip them into this country. >> means the threat is continuing, it has been here for decades. it was good to see. >> thank you. investigators facing arrest and continuing to conduct searches after last night's deadly terror attack in the heart of london. what exactly are they looking for? up next, a closer look at the search for clues. >> the police are doing two things. they will be looking at in-depth forensic examinations so they can know exactly what happened last night. they will also urgently trying to establish the identity of those involved. ...i learned humira is for people who still have symptoms of moderate to severe crohn's disease... ...even after trying other medications.
2:45 pm
in clinical studies,... the majority of people on humira... saw significant symptom relief... ...and many achieved remission. humira can lower your ability... ...to fight infections, including tuberculosis. serious, sometimes fatal infections and cancers, including lymphoma, have happened;... ...as have blood, liver, and nervous system problems, serious allergic reactions, and new or worsening heart failure. before treatment, get tested for tb. tell your doctor if you've been to areas where... ...certain fungal infections are common, and if you've had tb,... ...hepatitis b, are prone to infections,... ...or have flu-like symptoms or sores. don't start humira if you have an infection. just managing your symptoms? ask your gastroenterologist about humira. with humira, remission is possible. >> the time now for a check of

the pentagon -- pope francis offering prayers for victims and families of last night terrorist attack in london. the holy father apparently at st. peter's basilica for pentecost marking the official end of the easter season. we continue now with our top story is where just getting information that isis has claimed responsibility to the attack here this as investigations continue in london after the horror scene there. or 30s rating buildings and homes in the eastern part of the city and investigators saying they are focused on attackers that were shot and killed by police. >> work is ongoing to understand more about them. and whether or not they were supported by anyone else. as i think you are wearing their research is ongoing in east london and 12 arrests have already been made. there is plenty more to do.
2:50 pm
we will do it relentlessly to get to the facts. >> we are joined now by the former fbi deputy assistant director and the fbi hostage rescue team commander. danny, will start with the white man. what cannot tell investigators, fingerprints, credit card records, if it was rented? also what about the nouns and suspects and also the breaking news that isis is now claiming responsibility for the attack? >> as well, the band can be a treasure trove of insulation. not just friends but also dna. this can be a lot of dna evidence in there. you cannot go any place to rent a car or van and not leave your dna. that can be really good. what is going to happen in the investigation is there are apps out there i think the prime minister talked about it today. that intelligence services, law enforcement cannot get into. so these guys have communication network that cannot be penetrated by the fbi. or anybody else. the parliament need to take a
2:51 pm
look at that. congress needs to take a look at it. once these things happen or even prior to their happening, there is a way to see what these guys are doing. and maybe prevent the series attack like this. >> absolutely. as i said breaking news is that isis is responsibility for the attack. one is that children analysis of what happened there? >> he really doesn't. it doesn't matter whether it was isis directed arises inspired. they are both the same. it doesn't really make it different. what you want to do is get this tangled web of cells over there so that you can keep these things from happening in the future and it will be difficult. scotland yard is very good. i've done a lot of work over there. have a great deal of capabilities and they are tenacious. and it is a big job and with the threat that they are facing, the probably need more resources than they have right now.
2:52 pm
