>> this morning 20 republican lawmakers are counting their blessings and lucky to be alive, they were practicing for a baseball game yesterday morning when all of this unfolded, shots began to ring out and that is when lawmakers dove into the dugout to take cover. several lawmakers like steve scalise were on the outfield, they had nowhere to go. he was shot in the hip, he started to crawl towards the outfield to get out of this raging gunbattle that was underway. witnesses said the shooting lasted nearly 9 minutes and included 50 to 60 gunshots before capitol hill police were able to take the shooter out. here's how two congressman described it. >> we are all here by the grace of god and a hand played in today if you look at potential scenarios, it would have been different. >> the situation is the real. i have been in that environment
