five-time felon in san francisco. president trump wrote... the implementation of these policies will make our community safer, now that the house is acted, send them to my desk. first president trump's revised travel ban took effect. much of it can be implemented before the high court make the final judgment on the executive order. ed henry joins us just outside of washington, d.c., with the details. what do you know? >> good evening, guys. we are not seeing any of the chaos or controversy we saw here all around the country at the end of the first week of the trump administration. remember when that first executive order had been signed? we are not seen that kind of chaos because in part this is a

win for president trump. if partial victory earlier this week. to move forward for 90 days. it affects mostly muslim countries. you do not have resist protesters here, there are officials from amnesty international standing by, and one of the baggage claim area is waiting to see if anyone's rights are violated or any problems but there has been absolutely nothing. at the other piece of this is that remember, that was a self-inflicted wound when the white house rushed out the first executive order and did not have all the details flushed out. this is narrowly written. let's look at what this new order says. if you have a bona fide relationship with someone here in the u.s., you can come in safely. a parent, spouse, child,

sibling. you do not have a bona fide relationship if it's just a grandparent, grandchild and uncle. basically an in law, extended family member. at the bottom line tonight is this is a win for the president. his latest executive order is moving forward. interesting that moments ago, we heard the state of hawaii has filed yes, another court challenge anyway. even though there's no no chaos at airports tonight. even though it's more narrowly written, there are lawyers on the left still trying to challenge it tonight. >> dana: kimberly, when that original executive order was rescinded and they wrote this one and a much more narrowly targeted way, you have the supreme court saying it looks like this will be smooth sailing while they put in some extreme vetting they hadn't released yet. >> kimberly: you are right.

that's an accurate assessment, dana. we predicted on the show that in fact, it would pass constitutional muster. the voters agreed. and now it's basically an issue of implementation and making sure it goes through smoothly. this would have been nice if it happened right from the beginning but as we see, the people that are the obstructionists and want to use this as a political arm for their movement are still trying to grow it in the face of the supreme court and want to try to make a problem here. let's see what happens with that. hawaii, who knew? >> jesse: a lot of people from sudan vacationing in hawaii. >> dana: big concern. you can understand, hawaii is very beautiful. juan, the democrats largely voted against the kate steinle law and also something that

would have addressed sanctuary cities. it is not something the minority whip twisted arms on. and yet still, most of the democrats voted in the same way. why is that? >> juan: it's pretty clear, especially the democrats as he pointed out -- they think this is not helpful in terms of law enforcement. you hear this from the police chiefs and the police officials who represent organizations, they think this is in fact going to open the door to people who are here without documentation, illegal immigrants, not cooperating with police or fear that it will lead to deportation. and criminalization. they don't want that. i think they see this as demonization of immigrants overall. it becomes a cultural divide with the president having run a campaign in which he demonized especially the racists that were

coming from mexico and democrats say they are very proud and they're not going to go along with it. >> dana: here is laura wilkerson speaking earlier today. >> he now is serving a nine-year sentence. in texas. we have to battle, we had legislation, it seems as the families are always trying to stay ahead of the game. if someone wants to change it and let these colors off easy and out early. one of us deserves to be sitting up here. >> dana: jesse, the english happened over and over again. changing their laws in for good behavior. what they are willing to support now -- they don't want any

family member to go through this. >> jesse: of course not. it's a common sense legislation but of course the democrats don't have any common sense. if you get caught sneaking into this country, you don't get back in. locking of criminal illegal aliens who get caught reentering the country illegally. it discourages illegal immigration and number two, it keeps criminal illegal aliens off the streets, thus making it safer for american citizens. i haven't heard any good reason to not support kate's law. i would like all the democrats to tell kate steinle's family or any family whose son or daughter or family mentor was victimized by a criminal illegal alien who is deported and came back. the reason that they don't support kate's law.

i would love to hear it. >> juan: already, if you commit a crime and illegally enter the united states again, you would be put in jail. what this law was about is enhancing those penalties. >> jesse: what's wrong with that? >> juan: that's a better argument than what you just said. >> jesse: kimberly can speak to this. when you put a tougher sentence on the back end of something like that, it discourages criminal activity. a deterrent effect. >> greg: what kate's law and the travel bandshell, trumps heart and mind is in the right place. these are both small tools as part of a larger shed of safety and security. what i find alarming about this is that these aren't horrible, horrible life-changing events. yet liberals react as if they are. even if you try to make a small temporary act like the travel

band, you cannot trust the -- they constantly react as if this is something either bigoted or out-of-bounds are unconstitutional. even when you try the smallest thing, a temporary ban on six countries that are lawless, lawless. this is a day travel band to me band, it's a lawless band. they were never at the table before. the table of politicians and media have accepted -- victims of police brutality, islamophobia and racism. trump brought these people to the table and forced everybody out to cover this story which has never been covered before. by the way, now i'm going to bounce back to the travel ban. this is what we should be doing. ed henry was at the airport. you have to look at america like an airport. want to come here, you've got to go through security. that's the future. when you have terror meeting

with technology where one person could lock a dirty bomb, it's all about national security. the safety of the country. they are right. if you overreact, it shows you are not an adult thinking about it. you don't have statistics for the idea of people telling on each other. i looked into that. >> jesse: you don't lock up people for snitching. >> juan: not even close in terms of the police -- coat >> greg: police officers -- >> kimberly: never a problem for me. >> juan: as a juvenile at the table, the reason some democrats might object is oh, how do people from these countries have committed some terrorist acts in the united states? >> jesse: you didn't have any problem when president obama did it. what about in minnesota?

>> juan: there have been more terror attacks plotted by people in the united states than people outside of the united states. >> greg: no one minded when president obama did it. what you have to offer if you don't like any of this stuff -- why don't you bring something to the table? everybody on the left and in the media say the same thing. they say that socks and then they move on. >> juan: we have intensive bedding. >> jesse: the san bernardino shooters, it's filled with g howdy propaganda -- their facebook pages. >> juan: that was more about the wife in that case. our intelligence agencies work so hard. if you look at the refugees, of course, one part of the argument is freedom of religion, constitutional protection. >> kimberly: you don't have constitutional protection to reenter the country illegally.

that's the problem. they are more concerned about protecting the rights of criminal illegal aliens. dan innocent people who are murdered -- that are recidivists. this is not demonizing immigrants. we are a country founded by immigrants. william brace immigrants but embrace our laws. all the people that have had to hire lawyers and get people to represent them, work hard and be able to wait their turn in line to take their test and be here. not people that come over the border and commit murder or crimes that we have seen happen to these families across the country. people are tired of it. >> juan: this is not news. this is a cultural divide. they are just people -- >> dana: it's pretty narrow and it's only for 90 days. coming up, major controversy over president trumps tweets about to go the cable news

venomous tweets with cable hosts of a new show. >> he has to meet a higher standard than cable news, right? >> i don't think you can be expecting someone to be attacked every single day. the people elected a fighter. he won overwhelmingly. >> kimberly: obviously this dominated the news coverage. you didn't hear much about north korea and health care but you did hear about the mika and a cello chronicles. greg, what did you make of the situation? >> greg: i didn't like the tweets but i detest them more. i've more in common with america than the people reporting on this. the horror it's coming from the political world and the media world. what about the world at home that has been treated like idiots by the political world and by the media world?

these two worlds think america for the most part is stupid. here you have donald trump going after the two-headed swarm machine. these craven opportunists who have been using trump forever, sometimes they love him. sometimes they don't. it's an incredibly strange codependent relationship. every developer from queens. he's not a professor of gender studies. he's a trash talker. that's what he does. by the way, i'm also getting tired of saying that this is somehow sexist. it's sexist to expect somebody to treat a woman differently. he doesn't even care who is insulting. his insults are every bit as harsh to women as they are to men. that makes him less sexist than the people calling him sexist because he treats a woman rudely. that was a rude tweet. some of the crap they have been sitting in the morning? i don't know. i hate the fact that he has made them into victims after all the

sniping that they have done. i don't want them to be the victims. they are just annoying, pretentious people. >> kimberly: you love their video. >> greg: oh, god. least talented man on earth. >> dana: i have always rejected his offensive stuff it's made me crazy. the biggest winner in all of this is cnn. cnn is like the story of the week. he was on the upside of that. nobody talked about that today. that was off the front page. he says he doesn't watch morning joe. he's not alone. here's the thing. if they are so irrelevant, why prop them up? what's happened is they were going to go on vacation tomorrow. now they are actually going to postpone their vacation. and maybe become the heroes. i don't like any of the personal attacks that he does. the biggest insult he could put

against anybody is ignore them. he's the president of united states. it doesn't get bigger than that. he's punching down. the only people that would buy from the tweets are trump and the media. what we are doing in syria, south korea, there are 100 things i could have been talked about today. but it's his choice. >> kimberly: and the media is going to cover it instead of health care and north korea. maybe they don't want to talk about the health care bill not going through yet. >> dana: it's members of congress that are going home trying to get this thing done. they need his help and the air cover that he can provide by saying he's behind it. >> kimberly: in the interest, you've been very consistent on this saying you don't like the personal attacks. greg makes a point that they engage in very tremendous personal attacks.

>> dana: he's not the first president to go through it. i worked for a president who was called a liar every morning. he never reacted. he was criticized for not reacting. maybe this is a good tactic for president trump. i'm not saying that you have to be like president george w. bush but i was raised to not act like that. it's hard for me to understand why commenting on somebody's personal appearance, even if you are attacked, i would prefer to let it go. especially if you are president. if you don't get bigger than that. >> kimberly: you hit him, he's going to hit you back twice as hard. he's very frustrated by the things they did. i've never heard mika and joe say anything like this about president obama. i don't think they should speak like that about any president. no justification either way. >> jesse: msnbc and these guys called president trump a mentally ill dictator.

the president should not have sent the tweet but i understand why he said the tweet. he's had a very long personal relationship with these two host who have been on the show for many, many years. they socialize on and off camera. they had a very nice relationship for a long time and then the morning joe people turned on him. he feels personally betrayed. he's responding emotionally. he is upset about it. don't show up to a knife fight with a gun. >> jesse: >> greg: that's how tp operates. he protects his brand. >> kimberly: he shows up with the moab. >> jesse: i get the whole argument that it's sexist to go after a woman. there's also the argument that women want to be treated equally. but you said trump goes after anybody. old, young, black, white, it doesn't matter. you know what? it's not the gentlemanly thing

to do to comment on on the woms face like that. i think you should have steered clear of that. it's counterproductive. it wiped off these two great immigration headlines. when the congressman in louisiana made about kellyanne conway sitting on the couch, gets right to a microphone. democrats talking about beneath the dignity of the office? these are the same democrats defending bill clinton. they responded more passionately to a trump tweet dan and isis attack. the outrage right now -- >> kimberly: some of these people didn't stand up for the president when the picture of kathy griffin, showing the

beheaded president -- go ahead. >> juan: wow. what a performance by four of the five. you are on your heels try to make excuses. >> greg: don't start by insulting us. give your fax. >> juan: this is not normal. i think lindsay graham, paul ryan, republicans, we are republicans. they are saying this is not good. this is unacceptable. >> dana: who here said the tweet was good? >> juan: mika and joe said some things -- oh, they called donald trump names. he's not the first president -- >> jesse: i'm trying to give context. >> juan: i appreciate it but let's not get away from the reality. donald trump is president of the

for me, k.g. donald trump calling the news fake, that's what they are saying. when the media calls republicans racist traitors and nazis for a year and someone actually shoots a republican, they don't have anything to do with that. >> kimberly: we are bringing up the double standard. the media acts like they have clean hands of this. they have been trashing president trump. anyone associated with him, his administration. the way he shakes hands, his breathing. shaking hands like a thug, the president gets frustrated because he wants to put things forward. national security, jobs, make all these improvements that he promised, that people want to see happen in this country.

but nevertheless, you see a lot of this whining. ask the questions. you are courageous. get in there. do it. >> jesse: it doesn't seem like the press can take a punch. >> juan: we talked about this last night. the press should be tough but part of being top tuff is stang up for the first amendment rights. the people in power, the watchdogs against corruption. >> jesse: where were they the last eight years? >> juan: come on. they were terrific holding president obama accountable. i don't see why the president of the united states would say the processing enemy of the united states, jesse. that's bizarre. >> jesse: he said fake news was the enemy. >> dana: i think the

president, he has fun. he wants a foil. he decided the press is his foil. the other day, they were like make sure you watch the briefing. they like to fight. all the things kimberly listed, all the things he can talk about, if he wants to talk about the war with the press, the press is going to cover that. it's serving dessert first. he's got a to serve up the vegetables. can there be a reporter that matches his humor? like oh, yeah, blow him off. see how that works. the fighting, the only thing that this war is helping is the trump and the media. >> jesse: that's a very good suggestion. do you think the more he takes on on the media, the more powerful he gets? >> greg: i think trump happened to be the right person at the right time for this.

we've seen four decades of punitive bias against people who do not share liberal assumptions. we've all been through this. right now what you are seeing is almost a radicalization of young conservatives -- conservatives in general who are emboldened for payback. they are talking about fake news and pointing out media bias. we used to do that all the time and nobody cared. now the free ride is over. this ideological paralysis that has corrupted an industry is falling apart. donald trump happen to be just the guy that is right there calling them out. he is marginalizing the media through his tweeting and the way the media marginalized america. if you weren't on the coast, you didn't matter. trump said no, the people in the middle matter. he marginalized the media by going to those people through rallies and tweets. i think the media has to come out of the closet. they have to come out and say
