"it's a sad day when the president of the united states encourages violence against reporters. clearly sarah huckabee sanders had never done so. instead of preparing for the overseas trip, his first meeting with vladimir putin, dealing with north korea and working on health care, he's instead involved in juvenile behavior below the dignity of his office." of course cnn hosts, commentators, and guests had a collective freak out. >> i have to stand up to this. this kind of rhetoric, this kind of behavior is going to lead to a journalist being hurt. >> an incitement to violence. j he's going to get somebody killed in the media. maybe that will stop him. >> it's not just anti-cnn.

attacked her at the white house the other day, i thought what an incredible irony. you've got someone who works foe a publication that's made its entire brand on exploiting women, on airbrushing so they look differently than they really are, and he is attackingg the white house and saying that they are not being honest enough. i mean, how much more irony could there be? i think my daughter is handling it well. she is strong enough to deal with it. she's a strong woman. unlike some women in the media who melt any time someone comes after them, my daughter is handling it, i think, quite remarkably. >> kimberly: she was articulate. she had great answers. she was able to hold her own. i think being a great representative for women and women in journalism to say this is the standard of how you conduct yourself. she was unflappable. there wasn't anything she couldn't handle and she answered the question professionally, directly, politely.

that's what we need to do. have that level of discourse. she is showing that even though they are not being respectful on the other side. she has risen up to the occasion.n i thought handling herself unbelievably well. let's talk about the members of the media. do you think they are being a little bit hypocritical for you bring up the point about shakespeare in the play and -- shakespeare in the park, the play, and kathy griffin. they don't seem to be up in arme over that, looking to defend that to say this is outrageous. we shouldn't have this kind of behavior that is disrespectful or dangerous to the president. yet they are upset about this parody tweet he did.or >> we have been in the public eye enough to know that when we read a story written about us, we know whether it is true journalism for a simple reason. if we read it and we don't know whether the reporter like us or not, that is real journalism. if, when reading the story by yourself, you say, gosh, that

guy hates me or that personry really likes me. that's not journalism. because you should not have any idea whether or not that person likes you or not. can i mention one thing? i think my daughter it is handling this well because she has three preschoolers at home. she is used to dealing with petulant children who ask the same question over and over hoping to get a different answer, the one they want.t. so maybe that's part of the reason she's able to stay flat-footed, look those folks in the eye, and handle it. >> kimberly: having a father that's been in politics, she hah that kind of experience and background to know the type of things the press will sling at you, the hit pieces, trying to go after you, personal attacks. one of the reasons why she's used to dealing with them and understands how they behave. let's talk a little bit more about cnn. t again, their outrage this week and over the president's wrestling tweet. but they deserved to be

criticized after getting stories wrong and really unrelenting, constant negative coverage of the trump administration and trying to push a false narrative with the russian collusion story where there is not one fact to support it. >> they have pushed that story. jake tapper had to admit he held up a copy of the "national enquirer" on air that didn't exist. it was fake news. they had to fire or ask for the resignations of three of the people because of improper and unethical behavior. this is a network that's in a meltdown. has nothing to do with donald trump..rk it has to do with their ability to be objective. the one thing we expect from the press, report the news. let us make up our minds. you don't have to lead us. we don't need that help. we are not incapable of coming to our own conclusions. because the press is trying to spoon-feed us, remember mika brzezinski, she's going to tell us what we ought to feel and what we are to believe.

>> kimberly: welcome back to this special edition of "hannity." president trump versus the resistance.k nine senators oppose the bill to repeal and replace obamacare and according to a new associated press headline, "g.o.p. voters blame congress, not trump, for lack of progress." back with us, deroy murdock, lionel, and "the hill" columnist kristin tate. how likely is it the health care bill is going to pass the senate? >> i think it has to happen. the republicans have been promising this for seven years. i don't know what they've been doing these seven years. even if you -- even if you excuse that, november 9, they knew they would have a republican house, senate, and white house to get their acthe together. in july, they still don't know what they are doing and every republican and conservative and

moderate and some democrats voted who for these people expect and demand these guys do their jobs, stop monkeying around, get it together. i think the simple way to do it is the moderates want more money. the conservatives want more freedom, so whatever study weo have come up with spending andes health savings accounts under vehicles like that so people are beneficiaries of governmentt services. become consumers, pick and choose the care they want. let people buy across state lines. let a company like geico or allstate sell coast-to-coast and i think if you combine all that, you'll be able to get the votes. >> kimberly: everybody seems to like that free-market aspect of it. why is this taking so long? you have president trump in the white house, you've got congress all lined up, teed up with the republicans.e, why don't they get it together and who do you blame for this not working? you saw the poll, seems the american people aren't blaming president trump. they are fed up with congress. >> i blame congress but look, the senate health care bill isn't that great.

not a full repeal of obamacare and it's still a big government subsidy but it's a little less horrible than obamacare. they've got to pass something. the problem is the conservative wing of the g.o.p. knows the senate health care bill stinks and they don't want their names attached to it. i totally understand that but if the g.o.p. can't come together and do this, they are going to get blamed for obamacare failures. obamacare is falling apart and something's got to be done. premiums have doubled since 2013. deductibles continue to go through the roof. insurers are fleeing the market and if republicans continue to be purists and they don't work together, nothing is going too get done. we are going to be stuck with obamacare and 2018 is going to be an ugly election year. they've got to compromise. they have to get some thing done. >> kimberly: don't they want to keep their jobs? maybe not, but it seems like they are the ones letting the american people down, lionel. what is their problem? what's going to take to please these people?

>> one of the greatest myths next to the artistic quality of the neck tattoo is how they are calling it obamacare? they are repealing obamacare. there is no obamacare. it's a mess. the good news for the president is they can turn to the american people and say, what do you expect? i can't get a limitation on immigration which is what you voted me in for without them calling me racist. i can't budge.e. he's looking good but it's an existential mess. no matter how he plays it, wait a minute. i've got an idea.es maybe he could do a meme. this time with glow or something and drive these people over the edge. takes one more, i'm telling you, takes one more meme or tweet for the entire mainstream media tong lose it completely. we can only pray. >> kimberly: do you think this doesn't get done? >> that has to get done.

if these guys don't do this, what are they going to do? go back to in november and say you voted us in and we had the house and senate and thehe white house and we do new things or vote us back. they seemed scared. what are republicans afraid of? they are terrified. what are they afraid of? the american people say thank you for keeping your promises. >> kimberly: they were given a job and they complained about it. they've had the chance. and have they squandered it? that's what irritates me. >> i think they will get it done. the american people look around and see the republicans controlling the house, senate, and the white house. if nothing gets done, the republicans know it's going to be really ugly next year. the democrats have proven that they are the party of no, they are going to obstruct. it's got to be the republicans who get this done, and i think they know that. if they are smart, they will compromise and push this through. >> kimberly: lionel, last
