6:00 pm
earhart mystery seems to be solved. on that happy note, have a great night. tune in every night for the show that is the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness and groupthink. watch "the five." they are in new york. >> kimberly: hello, everyone. i am kimberly guilfoyle. it is 9:00 in new york city and this is "the five." world leaders are converging on germany, getting ready for the big g20 summit. flexing the muscle in the world stage, president trump. a huge reaction in poland while delivering a powerful speech there. we have every angle of the president's big address in warsaw, beginning with president trump's direct warning to moscow.
6:01 pm
before he sat down with russian president, vladimir putin. >> we urge russia to cease its destabilizing activities in ukraine and elsewhere. and its support for hostile regimes. including syria and iran. and to instead join the community of responsible nations in our fight against common enemies and in defense of civilization itself. >> kimberly: dana, many people giving the president high remarks today for the tone and tenor of prestige and obviously the world is watching and listening. and in light of what's transpiring tomorrow with vladimir putin. >> dana: a day that was filled from the beginning to the end. that's what you want to do on a presidential trip. you want to fill the airwaves and dominate all the way through. it wasn't just the speech, which was well-regarded, it's the fact that he met with the south korean president and
6:02 pm
japanese prime minister. notably absent with the president of china. that symbolism, saying you don't want to get isolated from us. we are the good guys. peace and prosperity. china was not there at the table. they will probably have a chance to meet at the g20 at some point but he also -- in regards to the russian meeting, there are so many complex issues to talk about. including syria and iran. the most pressing one, we have actual soldiers on the ground. that confliction issue gets more complicated as it goes forward. many presidents have done for decades -- trying to explain to your up coming up to become more energy independent. you cannot be dependent on russia for your energy. because they will starve you or basically freeze you out in the winter. there is a movement by some in europe, to try to do that.
6:03 pm
the president basically ran the gamut on all the different things. i agree with charles krauthammer. this speech today, when it comes to freedom and liberty and american leading in the world with our western values, it's really different from the inauguration speech. if you have been following ronald reagan for years, if you listen to the speech president trump gave today, you can say i agree with that. i loved it. >> kimberly: he covered all the points. very well done i think. greg. your take. >> greg: the speech first and foremost that on the world stage, we are back. pardon us for the hibernation but we aren't rusted and we are back. that's what we did. trump's vision aligns more with the present day world than the predecessor. he is concerned with the big ticket items. terror, security, freedom. jobs.
6:04 pm
u.s. media and liberalism in general is consumed by the small thing. language and decorum and memes. when they bring it up, they might not even know what he's talking about but small outreaches are marginalized compared to the big stuff that he talks about. he is, ironically, more of a citizen of the world than president obama was. he was wrong on every worldly thing. but trump seems to understand when an average guy in poland thanks and an average guy in the bronx thinks. >> kimberly: it's obviously an advantage that you have an american president that is relatable. if people are saying this is someone i can connect and identify with. in terms of what you put forward. the working men and women. the democrats.
6:05 pm
they are leaving them behind. >> jesse: only a billionaire can connect with manhattan -- he connected with poland. it's amazing. president obama goes over there. he puts his jaw up and reads off the teleprompter. he gets a lot of adulation but president trump is literally a man of the polish people. the way he connected the plight of the polish people in the fight against nazism and communism and fighting against depression, i think it was tremendously inspiring. on the russia thing, i think you took a pretty tough -- he said get out of ukraine. he didn't say that but he said back off ukraine. be careful who you are backing up in syria and iran. he said the missile defense system, the russians are really happy about that. not only poland but a lot of the other nato allies are putting up
6:06 pm
their price for their own defense. rush is not going to like that, either. dana touched on it. this castile they are working o on -- this gas deal. they get a lot of the national l gas from the russians. it takes a lot of the russian cloud away. i think that's the most substantial of punks accomplis. >> kimberly: what to think about that, juan? i think it's quite interesting. from a geopolitical perspective, it's quite crucial and integral to moving forward. especially with countries like poland, who have been essentially held oil hostages by russia. >> juan: no question. that's an essential moment in terms of how the europeans deal with russia in the future. they cannot deal with russia
6:07 pm
effectively because of the threat that they had financial interests in addition to the oil interest. that's a real point. i heard something a little different there today at the rest of you. what i heard was this nationalistic view. the united states and western style under threat. what struck me was he goes after the press. he went after the press big time in this speech. he also goes after president obama. it sounds to me -- this was really shocking to me, he goes after u.s. intelligence agencies. >> dana: that wasn't in the speech, juan. >> juan: this is the headline of the day. >> greg: he is asking questions, juan. >> juan: this is what he's doing. he's going to poland, a country where you have -- you go after the press, they can't even
6:08 pm
cover -- he's going after american media. to me that was out-of-bounds. >> greg: he asked those questions and answer them honestly. a lot of people have interfered for many years. with the stuff on obama, why didn't you do anything? that was an answer to a fair question. when they asked him about anything, he would actually answer. >> juan: he did this in a way that seems to me like delegitimizing my election. that's all he seems to care about. not the reality that everyone has said russia interfered with this election. >> kimberly: but in poland, he answered a lot of questions. alongside president andrzej duda. he had this to say... >> i think it was russia and it could have been other people in other countries. it could have been a lot of people interfering. i said it very simply.
6:09 pm
it could very well have been russia but i think it could well have been other countries and i will be specific. barack obama, when he was president, found out about this. in terms of if it were in russia. he found out about it in august. the election was in november. that's a lot of time. he did nothing about it. why did he do nothing about it? i think he thought hillary clinton was going to invite the election and he said let's not doing to to do anytht it. >> kimberly: that's a why we believe theory. >> jesse: i think this is why he tries to soft cuddled the russians. that taints its own victory. he doesn't want anything to take away from his beautiful victory over hillary clinton. it also is this narrative that there was some russian deal with trump. anyway. he also wants to leave room at the negotiating table with
6:10 pm
russia and pretend. so he has more room to operate with syria and north korea. he doesn't want to poison the well with this b.s. he sang president obama, it was that big of a deal, if it was not huge -- he didn't do anything. it probably wasn't that big of a deal. one more thing, president trump through the intelligence agencies under the bus. that's what you said. was not president obama who wanted to prosecute the cia interrogators? wasn't it president obama who through the intelligence agencies under the bus? was not president obama who through the intelligence agencies under the bus when isis took over a third of iraq and he was surprised by that? did you read that in the newspaper? >> juan: i cancer it cannot ant all.
6:11 pm
that's a factually inaccurate. he threw out 35 russian -- >> jesse: after the election! >> juan: he threw out 35 diplomats -- >> jesse: after the election! >> juan: he considered russia interfered in the election and he said remember, he went to put in before the election. there's tapes of him talking to putin. he's saying cut it out. and said there will be serious consequences if it continues. >> jesse: i thought you said i can be a little more flexible after the election. >> juan: there is no answer and then you come back with this? >> jesse: he is on tape saying that in october. we played the tape a couple weeks ago. >> juan: in the machines -- i have been critical about president obama not being vocal
6:12 pm
about the propaganda aspect to what the russians are doing. on this election. >> kimberly: dana perino. >> dana: i really don't know where to begin. you know you spread pinecones with peanut butter -- that was all the arguments of the entire last eight years. i'm not exactly sure where to start. he said last week, the president, president obama didn't do anything about it and he knew about it. he agrees that the russians tried to interfere in our election. there's an investigation. mueller is working on it. the integrity of it is set. set that aside. we are really looking at is tomorrow. the first face-to-face meeting between president trump and vladimir putin. it looks like it will be a very small meeting with only rex tillotson and interpreters. there's very little little room for leaks.
6:13 pm
they will spend their side about what happened, there will be a little bit of press but not a lot. we will still be living in this world of interpretation about what it actually could have been. >> greg: a lot of people are getting donald trump grief because he mentioned his predecessor. president obama. he did it by name. which is way better and more respectful than president obama talking about a temporary absence of u.s. leadership. he's try to be so clever and never mentioned the president's name when he was in south korea. >> kimberly: is passive-aggressive. >> greg: be so sly about it. at least trump said his name. >> dana: he's being cautious. >> greg: come on, dana. he knows -- >> dana: of course he does but but -- >> greg: he's a phony. he's a phony. >> kimberly: go back to the bush family. you don't see president 41 or
6:14 pm
43. they never behaved like this ever. >> juan: speaking isle of a president speaking ill of a president -- >> kimberly: they were very respectful. they let the next president go it in and govern. they were getting blamed for absolutely everything. they took the high road. there are a class act and respected the office. when their term was done, they knew -- >> dana: but the trump people saying that that was a mistake. the they should have fought back. >> greg: you know who has the worst out of everything? it may or glasgow. without telling anybody in the city, he flew to germany to protest. he claims the cost was footed by hamburg. what a horrible little manchild. to sneak out of the city. his responsibilities. to go protest. he such a dirt bag.

>> every foot of ground and every last inch of civilization is worth defending with your life. our own fight for the west does not begin on the battlefield. it begins with our minds, our wills, our souls. our freedom, our civilization and our survival depends on these bonds of history. culture. memory. today, as ever, poland is in our heart and its people are in that fight. just as poland cannot be broken, i declare today for the world to hear that the west will never, ever be broken. our values will prevail. our people will thrive. and our civilization will triumph.
6:20 pm
>> greg: when i listen to this speech, i keep thinking what does a typical social justice warrior here? all this stuff about civilization, the west, freedom, is everything the modern left despises and that part about defending with your life? it must sound like a foreign language to people who think pronouns trump patriotism. it's no wonder that the speech, described by a critic, sounded like in all the right manifesto. that's how normal stuff is viewed these days. it must be weird for leftists to hear the right pursuing to get a better life. it must be hard for the left to hear that when they champion women's march organ organizersd say stuff like this. >> i hope we will stand up to those that oppress our

6:22 pm
so, dana, it sounded like an old right manifesto. technically, all of our ancestors that fought world war ii are old right. >> dana: it's interesting to look at everyone's perspective. i think everyone on the left had a preconceived notion about what it would be. they were going to say it no matter what. they didn't actually listen to this speech. they are beyond listening. one of the things i liked about what president trump was talking about was how you shouldn't underestimate ideology. which is what happened with nazism overtime. he is talking about isis but about radical islamic terrorism and underestimating it can lead to dire consequences. you have to hit it head on. >> greg: jesse, could a typical kid brainwashed by leftist politics even attempt to understand this speech? >> jesse: if you read it.
6:23 pm
this was a celebration of western civilization. it all starts with borders. this was a celebration of borders. if you are a polish citizen and your country has been invaded, it's still your land, donald trump is saying. from your land comes culture, dignity and pride. but also god, which the left hates. he ties in america's history with poland's history. fighting nazis and the commonality is the belief in god. that's something that's very important. and then he tied it all together and said this is the goal of the west. defend our civilization. it defeat isis. and he tied in training the swamp. he said these rules and regulations, it's not about that. it's not about the powerful.
6:24 pm
he brought himself down to the streets. we talked about that just a moment ago. i think that's where he really connected. you heard the chanting, "donald trump." >> greg: donald trump could have made that speech 40 or 50 years ago, right? speak to the first thing i want to say, this is a pro andrzej duda crowd out there. this was a crowd put together b by -- >> greg: he was on the stage, i'm pretty sure. >> juan: this is a crowd that was assembled by a hard-line polish leader. they are standing there yelling stuff like fake news, fake news. they are being pumped up to perform for donald trump. >> kimberly: i don't think you're giving the polish people much credit. >> juan: i'm going to say -- i don't understand why he would go overseas and make a speech, the
