before he sat down with russian president, vladimir putin. >> we urge russia to cease its destabilizing activities in ukraine and elsewhere. and its support for hostile regimes. including syria and iran. and to instead join the community of responsible nations in our fight against common enemies and in defense of civilization itself. >> kimberly: dana, many people giving the president high remarks today for the tone and tenor of prestige and obviously the world is watching and listening. and in light of what's transpiring tomorrow with vladimir putin. >> dana: a day that was filled from the beginning to the end. that's what you want to do on a presidential trip. you want to fill the airwaves and dominate all the way through. it wasn't just the speech, which was well-regarded, it's the fact that he met with the south korean president and

japanese prime minister. notably absent with the president of china. that symbolism, saying you don't want to get isolated from us. we are the good guys. peace and prosperity. china was not there at the table. they will probably have a chance to meet at the g20 at some point but he also -- in regards to the russian meeting, there are so many complex issues to talk about. including syria and iran. the most pressing one, we have actual soldiers on the ground. that confliction issue gets more complicated as it goes forward. many presidents have done for decades -- trying to explain to your up coming up to become more energy independent. you cannot be dependent on russia for your energy. because they will starve you or basically freeze you out in the winter. there is a movement by some in europe, to try to do that.

the president basically ran the gamut on all the different things. i agree with charles krauthammer. this speech today, when it comes to freedom and liberty and american leading in the world with our western values, it's really different from the inauguration speech. if you have been following ronald reagan for years, if you listen to the speech president trump gave today, you can say i agree with that. i loved it. >> kimberly: he covered all the points. very well done i think. greg. your take. >> greg: the speech first and foremost that on the world stage, we are back. pardon us for the hibernation but we aren't rusted and we are back. that's what we did. trump's vision aligns more with the present day world than the predecessor. he is concerned with the big ticket items. terror, security, freedom. jobs.

u.s. media and liberalism in general is consumed by the small thing. language and decorum and memes. when they bring it up, they might not even know what he's talking about but small outreaches are marginalized compared to the big stuff that he talks about. he is, ironically, more of a citizen of the world than president obama was. he was wrong on every worldly thing. but trump seems to understand when an average guy in poland thanks and an average guy in the bronx thinks. >> kimberly: it's obviously an advantage that you have an american president that is relatable. if people are saying this is someone i can connect and identify with. in terms of what you put forward. the working men and women. the democrats.

they are leaving them behind. >> jesse: only a billionaire can connect with manhattan -- he connected with poland. it's amazing. president obama goes over there. he puts his jaw up and reads off the teleprompter. he gets a lot of adulation but president trump is literally a man of the polish people. the way he connected the plight of the polish people in the fight against nazism and communism and fighting against depression, i think it was tremendously inspiring. on the russia thing, i think you took a pretty tough -- he said get out of ukraine. he didn't say that but he said back off ukraine. be careful who you are backing up in syria and iran. he said the missile defense system, the russians are really happy about that. not only poland but a lot of the other nato allies are putting up

their price for their own defense. rush is not going to like that, either. dana touched on it. this castile they are working o on -- this gas deal. they get a lot of the national l gas from the russians. it takes a lot of the russian cloud away. i think that's the most substantial of punks accomplis. >> kimberly: what to think about that, juan? i think it's quite interesting. from a geopolitical perspective, it's quite crucial and integral to moving forward. especially with countries like poland, who have been essentially held oil hostages by russia. >> juan: no question. that's an essential moment in terms of how the europeans deal with russia in the future. they cannot deal with russia

effectively because of the threat that they had financial interests in addition to the oil interest. that's a real point. i heard something a little different there today at the rest of you. what i heard was this nationalistic view. the united states and western style under threat. what struck me was he goes after the press. he went after the press big time in this speech. he also goes after president obama. it sounds to me -- this was really shocking to me, he goes after u.s. intelligence agencies. >> dana: that wasn't in the speech, juan. >> juan: this is the headline of the day. >> greg: he is asking questions, juan. >> juan: this is what he's doing. he's going to poland, a country where you have -- you go after

this was a celebration of western civilization. it all starts with borders. this was a celebration of borders. if you are a polish citizen and your country has been invaded, it's still your land, donald trump is saying. from your land comes culture, dignity and pride. but also god, which the left hates. he ties in america's history with poland's history. fighting nazis and the commonality is the belief in god. that's something that's very important. and then he tied it all together and said this is the goal of the west. defend our civilization. it defeat isis. and he tied in training the swamp. he said these rules and regulations, it's not about that. it's not about the powerful.
