10:00 pm
"the five" have a great weekend everyone. "hannity" is up next. >> this is a fox news alert, president trump confronts putin. earlier today at the g20 summit in germany present from met face-to-face forto the first time. and tillerson explained what was said about election hacking. >> it opened the meeting by raising concerns of the american people regarding the russian interference of the election. they had a very robust and lengthy exchange.
10:01 pm
the president pressed president putin on more than one occasion regarding russian involvement. putin denied such involvement. >> laura: shocking that he would deny that. he added that trump was pressing china over north korea. more from our fox news contributor. let's talk about this meeting with putin. this went on for a couple of hours. apparently melania trump tried to break it up after a certain point. give me some highlights and your perspective. >> i think the fact that president trump opened the meeting by talking about russian interference in ourne election. and pressed it several times,
10:02 pm
should be the end of the allegations of that russian collusion with the trumple campaign. even more important, for the president, was that vladimir putin denied russian interference of the election. everyone was looked at the classified information says there's no doubt the russians tried toth affect the election. that's something that should be unacceptable to all americans. vladimir putin looked donald trump directly in the eye and lied to him. i think that's the single most important take away coming out of the meeting. >> do you think a former kgb guy would say we did that? that's not surprising at all. this is what they do. >> laura: you can't trust them
10:03 pm
at face value. you can say that about the chinese. >> that leads to the question, why do we keep trying to negotiate with them? >> laura: why do that with china? all the work that were doing on trade, stealing intellectual property, we are always willing to give china the benefit of the doubt. there is never any kind of equilibrium when it comes to the criticism. >> i would love to have the conversation about china. it's very significant for a learning experience. they can have good talks of people who lie. >> laura: let's talk about
10:04 pm
syria and the partial cease fire. >> i'm very nervous about this for two reasons. i think it was a mistake for president obama to actually acree ask a greater russian presence. i'm not real sure the cease-fire doesn't mostly benefit the assad regime. it gives them some calm to enable them to move forward on another front. >> laura: do you think tillerson would go along with something that's unworkable? what he said was, it looks that we can build on this conversation for future
10:05 pm
progress. >> it sounds exactly like the obama administration. we expect assad to leave, we will have a transition period. the russians it will never support assad leaving. >> laura: they both have a common goal, just not an agreed-upon route to get there. >> that's exactly the language that obama used. >> laura: let's recall what two prior presidents try to do in our relationship with russia. >> i looked>> the man in the eye, i found him very straightforward and trustworthy. we had a very good dialogue. i was able to get a sense of his
10:06 pm
soul. a man committed to his country and interests of his country. i appreciate the frank dialogue. >> laura: there has been botched attempt to reset the relationship with russia. i walkedul in today knowing full well the history of russia and the difficult relationship we've had over the years. i see this is very hopeful. i'm not looking at it through rose-colored glasses.ot what's the alternative here?
10:07 pm
>> we always have to calculate what our national interests is. those clips that you showed are three of the mostn painful moments in american foreign policy. that's why i'm nervous about the syria issue. i'm nervous about what tillerson said about going to the negotiate table with north korea. >> laura: i had a guy on my radio show today who suggested that we pull our troops out of japan and south korea. if it's a thermonuclear war, then it's time to pull our troops out.of it's a popular thought to say that we should do that. >> it's giving china territory.
10:08 pm
were not going to avoid nuclear war by pulling out. i don't think america should be held hostage by an erratic regime by north korea or iran holding nuclear weapons. >> laura: great to see you and thanks so much. here with more reaction, fox news contributor. he just heard the conversation. this is wild. a wild week with the trumpetio visit to poland. to this meeting with putin. and he's going to be meeting with chinese president tomorrow. >> and don't forget our fourth of july present from north korean president. the missile gift.
10:09 pm
>> i share the skepticism. people that are overseas or back in washington know they neverm get anything for free. >> laura: who gives up anything that doesn't hold true to their national interests. i say that is a good thing. critics on the united states, they don't want to talk to russia atng all. now that we have a chance to talk with them, nobody wants to talk with them. >> we all act on our national interest. for whatever reasons, in this case, our interests and russian interests are not in line. russia is aligned with iran and syria.
10:10 pm
the agreement today was with. jordan,h the united states and russia. that area is very limited. it's not where the iranian militia operates. and i'm very concerned that we had this false sense of security here. and the assad regime and the iranians are running amok.k. >> laura: sometimes it's baby steps. i don't think anybody thought we would be coming out of this g20 by linking arms. that was never going to happen. were going to have to use our leverage with russia, natural resources perhaps.
10:11 pm
we are going to have to use our leverage to get out of these tough situations with north korea and syria. we all want to get rid of isis which is a big deal. >> forget about a number of other things. >> laura: are we going to send american troops into the ukraine?mbof the idea that donald trump ran on nonintervening, and gettingop involved indo a huge military operation. >> nobody is saying go to war over ukraine.
10:12 pm
no one wanted to go to war in the czech republic when the nazis started taking little pieces bit by bit. we have a notion that let's not confront. at some point you have to draw a line. >> laura: is europe going to have any involvement here? >> i am all for getting the europeans getting involved. i'm all for getting them to pay for their own security. with the united states in the lead, you have to punch the bully in the nose. >> laura: i get what you're saying. my concern is, it's not 1985 or 1995. we are $20 trillion in debt. the more involved militarily, the less powerful and influential and more depleted of
10:13 pm
our military is gone. we have to get this economy going at home before we can stop these problems. we have to remember that we live in an economic world. people have to pay for things. >> either you're a warmonger, or let's just get out. there's a lot of room in between. as a green beret, we had proxies on the ground, cyber, and covert means. this is not puttingro 200,000 boots on the ground in crimea. this is about using other levers to take a stand against russia's march and challenging us as a
10:14 pm
superpower. >> laura: thank you very much.. in a disturbing video, a leftist hero muslim activist called for a jihad on the trump administration. and de blasio under fire for getting involved in the protest in europe. more coming up on "hannity."

10:21 pm
on six countries that we are victims of terrorism and the biggest founders of terrorism in the world, that brings frustration. >> laura: here's what doesn't go over l well with muslim americans. i want to get to receipt. linda sarsour getting up there and saying the fascist islamic globe white supremacists in the oval office, that is so persis lee and send the area and i would say if you were the president of the united states, he could sue for defamation. that's just garbage. that's meant to incite muslims to whom she speaking. it certainly isn't meant to build bridges. that is meant to incite, infuriate, insight is not good. when she says our goal is not to assimilate, her goal is cherry our law. isai that right? >> only have a president that one day he comes in he says that

islam arises mercy and compassion at the same time he comes and he says that islam hates us, these contradictions of the president at the front of islamophobia. >> laura: we are not in a mosque here. you're not preaching. it's a question. youu just brought up the mercifl point. does she sound merciful to you? >> you should talk with linda herself. i'm not a representative of linda. but the word of that you mentioned i'm saying is up to interpretation. >> laura: so they don't have a duty. >> is about muslim and non-muslim interaction and by the way, it's not on linda's position. lots of other americans are disappointed in that administration. >> laura: welcome to the club.
10:23 pm
everybody disappointed all the time. we don't hear immigrant groups coming to the united states traditionally saying we will not assimilate. that is not in the last 50 year years. let's get brigitta in here. we went way too long. what frustrates me is i know muslim americans who hear this and they go crazy. she does not represent us, and they hate hearing her words because it is not representative of what they believe and the chronic they believe. she doesn't want to assimilate, shee. wants to throw around thee defamatory words. it's nastiness, it's hate. this is not positive stuff and that's what she accuses president trump of. i'm sorry. >> it is. it's very radical. she was specifically inciting hatred and violence. if these words were coming out of any other person, we would've said that really overstepped the line. but coming from linda sarsour, youu have to understand her background. this is a lady that comes from a

administration. telling them not to assimilate. please allah and nothing but allah, that calls for violence for those who want to commit jihad against america. as well as people like you were me who law-abiding citizens. >> laura: just one question. i know you take issue with a lot of what she just said. i do think there is common ground here between the muslim community and conservative. just on a whole bunch of issues, but i almost never see them working together. i'm just talking about whether it's on social issues, the family or religious liberty. it seems like the liberals are the ones who should be fighting with the muslims on a lot of these issues but instead, we've got women like linda sarsour who i think drive a wedge between good muslims who want to be part of the american society, they do want to assimilate, and american citizens were very welcoming and
10:26 pm
very generous as long as you're not inciting violence, long is your patriotic and you want to be a part of this great crazy representative democracy experiment. she drives a wedge and i don't think that's helpful. >> first of all, there is a separation of people like this always talking about hate and hatemongering and negative. you are coming from lebanon. let me finish. you're just coming from lebanon, emigrated to this country almost the same year that i immigrated to the united states and you say that you live by the bible, but were talking about hate and propaganda. what happen to love your neighbors or even love your enemies? this is really the vision. yesterday, we had an interaction that the islamic house of winsome talking about all the similarities that we need to work together on, build bridges because we are muslims. you believe in the constitution, we believe the declaration of

independence that says all men are created equal. somebody like bridget isn't telling us is our jobs. she doesn't believe -- >> laura: i take you at your word. but my question is, when you hear someone like her, why don't you denounce her? why don't you say it's an outrage, and i denounce what she says about not assimilating, about the white supremacy, about the jihad, why don't you denounce that? but you always make massoud back excuses for people like that? >> we are of course condemning that, but a struggle against ignorance and arrogance and injustice and racism and poverty and war and terrorism, we are on the same page.
10:28 pm
>> laura: all these excuses. >> but then you go to the dictators and provide them with hundreds of millions of dollars. >> laura: if the people don't like this country, if we are a white supremacist evil horrible rotten country, i do not know why. we have millions and millions of people who want to come here including many people from muslim countries. they seem to want to come here and settle w all over the united states he had to come here and say we don't want to assimilate, want to do jihad. i don't get it. don't come here. >> everybody in this country is an immigrant. >> laura: we really appreciate both of you. we'll have you back. thank you very much. coming up, radical leftist agitators at the g20 summit. mayor phil de blasio was defending his position to join him. isn't that great? here next and later shopping a senate report details the unprecedented number of leaks coming from the state departmen state department.
