be, and cover all of the news here on "special report." that is it for "special report.. "hannity" with donald trump jr., next. >> sean: thanks to our friends on "the five." donald trump jr. is here to set the record straight about his june 2016 meeting with the russian lawyer. he will join us for an exclusive in-depth interview. that's coming up. by the way, for all the members of the district or media that have to tune into my show tonight, get out your pad and pen. you may actually learn a thing or two. we have a message for you. maybe you want to take notes. we want to lay out the real scandals that you are not covering that you should be covering. if you were actual journalists, you would be. let's lay out the facts of this story. that is tonight. important opening monologue. earlier today after
12:01 am
"the new york times" reported on the content of email exchanges prior to this meeting at trump tower, donald trump jr. released what he said is the entire email chain. contact was initiated by rob goldstone, a music publicist who represents a russian pop star who knows the trump family from the 2013 miss universe pageant that took place in moscow. on june 3rd 2016, goldstone emailed donald trump jr. saying good morning, just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting. the crown prosecutor of russia met with his father this morning and offered to provide the trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate hillary and her dealings with russia and will be very useful to your father. this is very high-level and sensitive information. but it's part of russia and government support for mr. trump. what do you think is the best way to handle this information and would you be able to speak
12:02 am
to her about it directly? i can also send this information to your father but it is ultrasensitive. it wanted to to you first. best, bob goldstone. donald trump jr. replied 20 minutes later. in following emails, the two go back and forth about setting up that phone call. they eventually work out a time for a sitdown meeting with this russian lawyer. donald trump jr. also released a statement explaining that he was releasing the emails, to be transparent. he also detailed white the meeting. his statement reads in part, the information they suggested they had about hillary clinton i thought was political opposition research. i first wanted to just have a phone call but when that did not
12:03 am
work out, they said the woman would be in new york and asked if i would meet. i decided to take the meeting. the woman was not a government official. she had no information to provide and want to talk about adoption policy and the magnetic state act. this was before the russian theory was invoked. the prior meeting was the most inane nonsense i'd ever heard. he was actually agitated by it. the russian lawyer at the center of this story spoke to nbc news when she denied working for the russian government. >> have you ever worked for the russian government? to have connection to the russian government? >> no. >> sean: nbc is also quoting the russian lawyer saying "i never had any damaging or
12:04 am
sensitive information about hillary clinton. it was never my intention to have that." in a previous statement, donald trump jr. said the same thing. she never produced solid information about hillary clinton. he says that she didn't even really make sense when talking about clinton. it's worth noting that the legal team pointed out they think the whole meeting could have been a set up. it was made to look like potential russian collusion. the team also said that the russian lawyer is connected to fusion gps, the opposition research firm that produced the discredited christopher steele dossier on donald trump. by the way, as "the new york post" has reported, fusion tps has several ties to the democrats, including clinton allies and even planned parenthood. from looking at the facts as we have them, a friend of the trumps offered to coordinate a meeting to share opposition research on hillary clinton, which donald trump jr. agreed to. nothing came of it because there is no information exchange. and it ended there.
12:05 am
the democrats and mainstream media are hysterical over the story. we are glad you are all watching. they have completely ignored an example of actual election interference and i would argue probably because it involves a democrat appeared to be fair to you, the american people, we want to be balanced. we need to point this out. the question you people in the media need to start asking yourselves is -- why don't you tell the american people every story? for example, back in january, politico -- hardly members of rate ranks conspiracy published this explosive report. another report, a dnc operative and ukrainian government officials tried to aid and assist hillary clinton and damaged donald trump. this person used to work at the clinton white house and spearheaded this entire effort. meeting with ukrainian officials
12:06 am
at the ukrainian embassy in washington, d.c., to discuss ways to go over former trump campaign chairman, paul manafort. the ukraine diplomat was helpful in tracking leads. there was this bombshell, she occasionally shared her findings with officials from the dnc and clinton's campaign. on top of all of that, the operative claims she gave guidance and off the record information. saying a lot of journalists were writing about paul manafort. now that you have evidence about both sides, you have to decide for yourself. you we report, you decide. everybody in the media forced to tune into night, which is worse? why haven't you covered that story? why did news organizations extensively report on ukrainian collusion? politico did all the heavy lifting. all you had to do was follow up. is it because many of the
12:07 am
so-called hot news organizations in this country exposed before the election as having colluded with the clinton campaign? remember wikileaks? if you are really interested in election interference, why didn't you care that a congressional investigation found in 2014 that an israeli political group used a $300,000 obama state department grant to create a political apparatus to try to defeat our ally, our friend, the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu? or how about the wikileaks email? a campaign ad talking about a chinese ambassador wanting to have a private off the record meeting. do you members of this corrupt media even know about these stories? since you are so interested in prosecuting people and accusing them of crimes, let's talk about real crimes that have been committed that you in the media so often ignore. hillary clinton, let's see. we know she mishandled and destroyed top-secret special
12:08 am
access government information. what about a real russian collusion conspiracy? the uranium one deal. at secretary of state hillary clinton, she signed off on giving up to 20% of america's uranium to vladimir putin and the russians. all those people in the deal? they kicked back over $100 million to the clinton foundation. bill clinton doubled the speaking fees in moscow. let's not forget the clinton foundation, taking millions of dollars from the worst human rights record nations. since he took office, 125 deep state leaks and 126 days. by the way, they are all likely felonies and happened at a rate which is seven times greater in the previous two administrations. what about lieutenant general michael flynn? you will follow the story, have you been reporting on the fact
12:09 am
that he was unmasked and that intel, raw intelligence was leaked to the press? that would be a crime. then james comey. company of comey's seven the most contained classified information. the comey may have committed to felonies. broken the law, removing those files from the fbi. i will end on this note to the mainstream media. you have zero credibility left. spreading fake news stories, you will be critical of all my interviews but you carry out or your personal attacks against the president and his family and anybody that dares to be associated with the president. here's a minor small example. liberal joe, nbc, what is he called the president of the united states? a goon, a thug, mentally unhinged, a schuck. then the president fights back. are you proud of how the media
12:10 am
handles things? i guess you probably have defended all of this. the media in america -- we have an information crisis. overpaid, lazy, rigid left-wing ideologues. that's for another night. tonight, we have donald trump jr. we will ask him every single question i can think of on this topic. don jr., good to see you. welcome back. >> donald jr.: i don't think there was any time left. >> sean: i get that a lot. let's start with the emails. the first email, let's talk about who with rob goldstone? >> donald jr.,: he's a talented manager for a russian singer, she performed at miss universe and later at the golf course tournament we held. >> sean: do -- >> donald jr.,: i met him at the golf course. i wasn't at the miss universe pageant. >> sean: heat sensitive this email. we will give you a chance.
12:11 am
this is the one that says the crown prosecutor of russia met with his father, and in their meeting offered to provide a trump campaign with documents, information that could incriminate hillary clinton, et cetera, obviously part of russia and government support of mr. trump. then they asked the best way to handle this. this email comes in. what are you thinking? >> donald jr.,: my take away when all this was going on, someone has information on our opponent. things are going a million miles an hour. we are talking about a convention. wait a minute, we've heard about all these things but maybe this is something, i should hear him out. >> sean: when you read the parts about the russian government or russia supporting your father, did that put off any sirens in your head? >> donald jr.,: honestly, i don't know. this is basic information that was going to be possibly there.
12:12 am
if this talent manager from miss universe had this kind of thing -- i wanted to hear him out and see what happens. people are trying to reach out to you all the time with this. >> sean: you actually set at one point, if it turns out you say what you say it is, what would it end up being? >> donald jr.,: i was reading about scandals that people were under reporting for a long time. maybe it had to do with some of those things. again, i didn't know there was at a any credibility. somebody sent me an email. i can't help but someone sends me. i read it. i responded accordingly. if there is something interesting, i think it's pretty common. >> sean: this is prewikileaks. >> donald jr.,: this is prerussia fever. this is prerussia mania. this is 13 months before. i think the rest of the world was talking about that, trying to build up this narrative about russia. i don't think my sirens went up
12:13 am
because of it. because of the last nine months, ten months. since it really became a thing. i think there is an element of context to that. it wasn't this big news story at the time. >> sean: what did you know about emin's father? with at the pageant? >> donald jr.,: they had successful real estate developments out there. i maintained a casual relationship, talked about some potential deals. that was the extent of it. >> sean: what do you know about this russian lawyer? >> donald jr.,: i didn't know anything about it. that acquaintance sent me this email. as a courtesy to him, i said, let's meet. i didn't know who i was meeting before hand. i never got the information until they were in the room. >> sean: at any point were you told during a phone conversation or otherwise what they might tell you? what goldstone seemed to be
12:14 am
implying? >> donald jr.,: as i recall, it was all about this email coordination. in the end, it wasn't about that at all. >> sean: lets go into the meeting. you meet at trump tower. the meeting was described earlier today on the today show. did she describe it accurately? >> donald jr.,: i think it was fairly accurate. i was a little surprised about me pressing information but it was hey, we have information. if there was some small talk. i don't remember what it wants. was nonsensical. then he quickly went on to a story about russian adoption and how we could possibly help. really, that's where we shut it down. it was like wait a second, what does this have to do with -- >> sean: had you heard about the magnitsky act? >> donald jr.,: i hadn't heard about it until that day. we were all there.
12:15 am
i was sitting there listening as a courtesy to my acquaintance who had set up the meeting. and in his own words, you can hear what he said. he played it earlier. he apologized to me walking out of the meeting, basically for wasting my time. >> sean: you did say at the end of your statement, the entire meeting with the most inane nonsense i had ever heard. and i am actually agitated by it. he called to apologize to you? >> donald jr.,: there wasn't really a follow-up because there was nothing there to follow up. he said listen, i'm sorry for that. there was some puffery to the email. perhaps to make the meeting happen. in the end, there is probably some bait and switch about what it was really supposed to be about. there is nothing there. >> sean: she is saying she had no information to provide. do you remember what she suggested, that you were pressing her for information? >> donald jr.,: i imagine i did. i was probably pressing because
12:16 am
the pretext of the meeting was hey, i have information about your opponent. hey, some dnc donors may have done something. i said hey, what does this have to do with anything? in specially in light of what was going around out there. >> sean: did you ever have any contact with this woman or goldstone ever again? >> donald jr.,: not the woman. not since this transpired. >> sean: this is a hypothetical. in any point in your mind did don jr. have a siren saying okay, i go back to the first email about russia, russian government. did you ever think maybe this might not be -- >> donald jr.,: like i said, in retrospect, i probably would have done things a little differently. again, this is before the russia mania and building it up in the press.
12:17 am
this was opposition research. maybe concrete evidence to all the stories i'd been hearing about. were probably underreported for years. not just during the campaign. it really went nowhere. it was apparent that this was not what the meeting was actually about. >> sean: let me ask a hypothetical. maybe you have thought about it since. since this has become russia collusion, et cetera. did you ever meet with any other person from russia let you know? >> donald jr.,: i don't even know. i have probably met with other people from russia. not in the context of a formalized meeting. because why would i? in the grand scheme of things, how busy we were, this was a courtesy to an acquaintance. >> sean: let me play a montage. these are democrats attacking you today. i will give you a chance to respond to what they are saying and what the left is saying. they have taken it to the ultimate extreme. i will ask you about some perspective. here's what they are saying. >> we now know they sought to
12:18 am
approach the term campaign to see whether they would be interested in damaging information about hillary clinton. we now know that the response of the outcome of the president son gave to the russians was that he would love it. if they would provide damaging information about hillary clinton. this overture of the russian government to provide damaging information to intervene, in the presidential election in the light to help father, neither the president's son nor the campaign reported this information to the fbi. >> we get email exchange today showing clear collaboration between the russian government and russian government agents and the trump campaign at the highest levels. where the emails are very clear -- the russian government is awaiting into to help elect
12:19 am
donald trump. >> we need donald trump jr. and other associates to turn over any electronic communication that investigators ask for. and we need public testimony under oath of donald trump jr., who has changed his story repeatedly. >> we are beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what is being investigated. this is moving into perjury, false statements, even potentially treason. >> sean: schumer -- did you hand over any and all documents? >> donald jr.,: i will. i am more than happy to cooperate with everyone. that's part of why i released all the stuff today. they are trying to drag out the story. they want to drip a little bit today, and so here it is, i am more than happy to be transparent and cooperate with everyone. >> sean: as far as this incident is concerned, this is all of it. >> donald jr.,: this is everything. >> sean: than anyone else in the campaign say i have information about hillary, that
12:20 am
you remember? >> donald jr.,: no. >> sean: let me go back to what tim kaine said. if you wanted it released later in the summer, you think that's unusual for a campaign to want op research -- i will get to the ukrainian official, especially in light of this coverage -- >> donald jr.,: i think we had more important things to worry about. i'm sitting there, indiana had probably just happened. i am hearing about contesting convention. we are going to fight. this is the first time we have done. i am still way off the learning curve. yeah, i wanted to hear the information. if there's information out there, you want it. if there was something that came from it that was shady, a danger to national security, i would obviously bring it right to someone but it turns out it was nothing. there was nothing to be able to actually talk about. >> sean: the whole contact took how long? >> donald jr.,: 20 minutes.
12:21 am
>> sean: jared left after five or ten? >> donald jr.,: paul manafort was on his phone the whole time. this was not what we are in there talking about. >> sean: a lot of people will want to best about your father. did you tell your father anything about this? >> donald jr.,: it was such a nothing. there was nothing to tell. i didn't remember this until you went scouring through this stuff. it was a waste of my time, which was a shame. >> sean: liberals in the district trump media once again have worked themselves into a frenzy. they are frothing at the mouth. donald trump will react, donald trump jr. will react. donald trump jr. will react. muc

12:26 am
hillary clinton. and apparently the response to that was... >> he was admitting that he had met with this russian lawyer for the purpose of receiving information against hillary clinton. i thought my god, this kid was dropped on his head as a child. could possibly be admitting he this? >> how stupid of don jr. guess it runs in the family. to go on twitter, clearly in legal jeopardy. >> people have to get donald trump jr., fake news, this is evidence of willingness to commit collusion. >> sean: we continue with donald trump jr. what is your reaction to that? >> donald jr.,: politics is a dirty game. we have seen the commentary they have had on my father. i think it's a little bit ridiculous and overplayed. i think the media has really dumbed themselves a disservice by taking sides so flagrantly.
12:27 am
it's just a tough game. >> sean: i get to have a staff of people that work for you -- did anyone researched the lawyer or anybody involved in this? >> donald jr.,: we didn't know who it was before the meeting. we didn't know who it was before the meeting. apparently she is a prosecutor in moscow. 14 years ago, she was a prosecutor. it was such a nothing. i literally would not have remembered the meeting. >> sean: were you annoyed, based on -- ? >> donald jr.,: sometimes you do things for acquaintances and friends. >> sean: i hate hypothetical questions but i think it's relevant in this case -- if the meeting resulted information that you felt in any way was illegal or compromising or collusion, to use the media's term -- >> donald jr.,: i would bring it to the proper authorities.
12:28 am
i would never do anything to endanger this country. we fought so hard during this campaign. the rest of our family, the efforts we put into it. we would do anything for this country. we are never going to put that in jeopardy. ever. >> sean: all the emails that exist on this case, you don't think there's any other one? >> donald jr.,: we have scoured it thoroughly, just to be sure. there isn't anything else there. >> sean: there was no follow-up, with any of them? >> donald jr.,: there was no reason to follow up. it was a waste of time. >> sean: did you learn about the adoption issue when you were there? >> donald jr.,: i gave them a little bit of time as a courtesy, i probably heard whatever i heard in the room but it's a big issue for a lot of people, i guess. it wasn't a campaign talking point. it wasn't something -- this was not something i was going to worry about at that stage. we had a lot of bigger fish to fry. that's what i was focused on. >> sean: when we come back, i
12:29 am
want to address the media coverage. the ukrainian story i brought up and whether you think it's a double standard and the treatment of your family by the media, much more. we will continue with don jr. on the other side of this break. let me come back, we will ask them about the trump family and how they feel about the daily attacks against their father and everybody else by the media. we get a legal opinion. jay sekulow will weigh in asz, o

12:35 am
went to, going after foreign country elections are so bad -- very little media coverage. real crimes have been committed in this country. i would argue hillary clinton destroying and mishandling emails. hillary clinton, the uranium one deal and the 1 million plus dollars kicked back to her. loretta lynch's conversation with bill clinton on the tarmac. 125 leaks in 126 days. the media watching this now never told the american people about the ukrainian story. except for politico. what is your reaction to the double standard? >> donald jr.,: the double standard is upsetting. you see it everyday. it's a lot harder to not take it personally. i would love to rant and rave but candidly, right now, with everything going on, i think people see it. i think they are starting to get it. i think the mainstream media has
12:36 am
probably done themselves a pretty big disservice by going so far. by going so extreme. by being so sensational. it's pushing regular people away. they want to see what my father campaigned on. they want to see jobs. the numbers he's putting up. the stock market keeps making hits. all these things that he promised he would do? they are happening. they are actually happening. that's not getting any coverage. that's a real shame. a real disservice to the people of this country. >> sean: i agree with you. i think the forgotten men and women is something i talked about last night. robert mueller, he will be looking into it. you said in a tweet that you would fully cooperate with any investigation. >> donald jr.,: of course. 100%. >> sean: you would turn over everything they'd want and you have nothing to hide. he would testify under oath, all of that? >> donald jr.,: all of that. >> sean: yeah. your sister was attacked. i could play montages of that.
12:37 am
joe scarborough called dear father a thug, a goon, a schmuck. yet the severed head issue. you've been attacked. it seems like one by one, they try to pick off anyone around the president. why do you think there's this reaction, so many groups so opposing her father. i've never seen it. and all the years i've covered politics. >> donald jr.,: we are so far away from the political elite. whether you are on one side or the other, they were never necessarily consequences for an action. look at the attacks on ivanka. i was pretty vocal about that stuff this weekend. if she was anyone else's daughter, she would be a feminist icon. the well-spoken woman. they try to belittle her at every chance. it is really sad. for me, as a family member, as her older brother -- you do take
12:38 am
it personally. it does make you want to fight back. we are fighters. they don't take well to that either. they don't like being called on their stuff. >> sean: one of the things they said tonight, it may not be so trump-why. he said in a retrospect explained that with a little more detail. >> donald jr.,: i think you probably know more now. the hysteria that has been talked about over the last 8-10 months, things are probably different than they were but people were talking about it. they launched this notion, it's different. i know more now. it's always 2020. >> sean: don jr., thank you for coming in. i asked to every question i could think of. a new perspective, jay sekulow with reaction to our interview with donald trump jr. with donald trump jr. and terrence williams

moments ago. joining us now, jay sekulow. generally reaction. >> my friend, mike huckabee, said something very similar. the meteor is going after donald trump jr. for doing what? releasing the full email chain, unlike secretary clinton who deleted her emails. let's put that in perspective. look at it from a legal perspective. there's no illegality in the meeting. the fact is, nothing transpired. what we have here? i think donald trump jr. said it correctly. through the media frenzy on russia. this has been going on for several months. when you look and see what actually took place, a meeting took place. nothing happened from this 15-20 minute meeting. and at the end of the day, there's no illegality. they want to create a media hysteria. i'm trying to look at the lawyer and say what statute of law has been violated?

12:45 am
place and nothing happens. then you raise the issue which i've been concerned about for a long time, the whole issue of state department funding, hundreds of thousands of dollars -- running a cup politl campaign against the state of israel. there you have it. again, it's not even fair to say double standard. i want everybody to remember donald trump jr. -- what did he do today? he put forward the entire chain of emails. he did not delete them as others have done in other campaigns, as we know. >> sean: i never run out of questions on this show. i felt like i ran out of questions. i just don't know at that point what else you can do. he answered every question, explained what happened and didn't happen. i don't know what paul manafort was saying. i don't know -- if every

campaign, if they were given op research, isn't that what the dnc did with the ukraine? >> remember, let's put this into the perspective of what was going on. they were in the middle of a campaign. the heat of the campaign here. what happens? someone comes forward with opposition research. why did the dnc have their operatives meeting with the ukrainians and actually getting information? why is that not one standard and this is another? what law was violated here? some of the theories that some of the commentators have put forward are ridiculous. there was no illegality in that meeting. on top of that, there was no information that was obtained. there you have it. >> sean: we will take a quick break. more with jay sekulow and his reaction to our interview with donald trump jr. you don't want to miss this later tonight... speak of the democrats go again. trump colluded with russia. the russians hacked the
