paul manafort to attend. but now a russian american lob business is telling the associated press he was there, too. he served in the soviet military for a couple of years in the 1980s. he said it was routine service and denied any involvement past or present in intelligence activity. and trump jr.'s attorney is telling fox news another person, an american citizen says he was at the meeting as well. bringing that total number to 8 people reportedly at this meeting. democrats and some republicans say it's all concerning and they need more information. president trump took questions on the issue of the meeting during his trip to paris but state side the administration is trying to shift attention away from the emails and back towards policy. >> the democratic politicians who passed obamacare made many big promises, but they turned out to be lies. salute, total lies. >> president trump is pressuring senate republicans

despite all that, if she was such a threat why did she continue to remain here? you will listen to hours upon hours of coverage in the mainstream media about this meeting. quite frankly, the biggest issue in this meeting is why was this person here? you hear nothing about that. clayton: raise questions about how a number of months ago when the president was talking about being wiretapped or watching trump tower and these intercepts. where did these pieces of information come from. if these meetings were being held at trump tower. maybe that's where they got the information to begin with the obama administration the nsa was watching russians walk into trump tower on the visitors log having the meetings. they knew they were in the united states. they will e tended visa program for the person to be here while she was dealing with case in. >> no. abby: a lot of questions, clayton and good ones. why people on both sides of the aisle should care about leaking and hacking. the tread is dealing with these leaks. what you said is right, clayton, they have got to get ahead of this. at the end of the day the american people care about the

agenda getting done. they want to give president trump that chance. i heard that yesterday at the diner talking to the american people. well, yesterday, ceo of jp morgan chase jamie dimon is just as angry as many of the americans are he was blowing up at washington, d.c. and democrats saying you have got to do your job. he says that they have failed to do more for the average american. the question is whether they ever listen? will they actually get anything done? clayton: this was amazing. a moment from the head of a major wall street bank saying look, get your house in order. have you a terrible approval rating right now. do your job, congress. get stuff going in washington. it was great to listen to. listen. >> this administration make break throughs in infrastructure and regulatory reform. we have become one of the most bureaucratic confusing litigious societies on the planet. almost embarrassing traveling around the world and listen to the stupid [bleep] we have to

deal with in this country and at one point we have to get our act together and do what we are supposed to do. not just corporations. competitive taxes are important for business and business growth which is important. clayton: here that over the course of the next week. this is what republicans have to worry about. it's not the russian situation. it's what's happening in washington. if they can't offer the change was that promised, they can be voted out of office. but, we have to remember, one of the major reasons they are not able to bring this change is because of the obstruction of the democrats. abby: republicans of course are to blame because they have the power, right? they are in charge. where are the democrats, right? they have been about obstruction, obstruction you, obstruction from the beginning. in order to get big things done. you look throughout history in this country, when anything big happens had you both sides of the aisle coming together, working on those big things, rights? you don't have democrats even wanting to come to the table. maybe joe manchin. maybe one or two democrats. that's about it.

and want to damage him. and it's bad for democracy. this man was elected on a platform, on a ticket to do things in america. and all that's happening here is he is being held back. and that's wrong. abby: we have seen his reaction since he became president or even that. todd: even before that, right. abby: i want to get your thoughts on the story that's received so much attention this 11-month-old boy in the u.k. on life support. you see the picture right there. parents fighting for his life. a judge has given a new york doctor permission to travel over to the u.k. some time next week to examine little charlie gard. what are your thoughts on this story? >> the whole medical establishment has been trying to stop charlie gard's parents, taking that little lad to america, to have treatment that is new, not available in the u.k. it's remarkable. i'm the only, i'm the only political figure in the u.k. who has been supporting those parents. and we have seen president trump, vice president pence,

education and reform for sex yale assault on campuses. betsy devos is looking at. so there is a lot of other stories that need to be covered that are important to americans and that are important to families. healthcare. abby: right. >> there is a lot of stuff that's not being -- abby: a lot of times we don't even know these stories are going on. we don't read about them. do you think the balance is right today with the stories that the mainstream media is choosing to focus on? >> the russia issue is very important. it's not a binary decision. and i think that's where the conversation is going. we can do two things at once. i for myself am very concerned about russia. this constant drip, drip, drip. our democracy is not a partisan issue. it's about whether our democracy is stable. and at the end of the day we need to know whether there was collusion and right now that's still in question. so we have to come to a common ground to say we need to find this out. so. abby: you say the investigation is going on. if there is something there, please reporter if there is

something wrong. >> yeah, absolutely. abby: how many of you think the russian collusion story is the most important one that we should be hearing about today? you think that's more important than the economy and more important than healthcare? >> i think it's more important to get that answer so we can move on to other things. absolutely. >> it is the only strategy of the democrats is what i believe that it is. as a result, no matter what comes out, that there is no collusion. they will find a way to continue to make this russia trump collusion the main story. that is their only strategy. they have no other strategy. abby: how many think the economy is the number one issue? >> the economy, healthcare. north korea. terrorism. >> education. >> illegal immigration. >> like we hear people say that we can walk and chew gum at the same time, but we're not seeing that at all. all we're seeing is the democratic party acting like an opposition party resisting.

clayton: it's a bizarre story. let me get your take on what's happening with the travel ban. the left seems to be picking apart pieces of it. they lost their battle against out travel ban. but these constant appeals courts seem to be ripping it apart. is that what we're going to see this sort of withering of this through these appeals process? >> i think the left is using and abusing the court system in order to take down donald trump and his travel ban. they are not going to succeed. because we know now how the supreme court feels about it. it was a precurcureiam travel ban. the lower courts are very different thanks to barack obama who appointed 334 federal judges during his 8 years. and now, you in particular, the court of appeals is absolutely stacked to the left, liberal judges control 70% of the appellate courts. so it's no con der that these

judges who like to legislate from the bench ruled against donald trump. but, in the end, it was absolutely meritless. the president did not exceed his authority. he did not engage in religious discrimination. and the case will be argued in october on its merits. and it will end up the same way. clayton: yet it, will expire before they hear it which is a weird thing. right? >> it is. i think it municipal court hate to tyke cases that haven't been fully litigated and this one hasn't. they look for ways to kind of not make a decision. now they, for the most part, made their decision. they lifted the injunction, the travel ban is in existence now. but the 90 days will have expired by the time the hearing takes place in october. and the 120 days will almost expire by then render egg the entire matter moot. the supreme court may actually say we don't need you to decide this case. clayton: moot, one of my favorite legal terms. greg jarrett, thank you for

>> pretty stunning image. give you a quick peek of it the president bowing his head in prayer in the oval office. and all these people sort of touching him. it's very strange. we're going to tell you what happened there. todd: how did this all come about. is it strange or stunning? >> well, we are christians, so we believe the bible which talks about the laying on of hands. and i don't find this strange at all. why were at the white house from 9:00 in the morning until 4:30 in meetings with different members of the administration. and we had lunch and right after lunch jared kushner came in and we talked to him for a little bit. and just really impressed with, jared, amazing man, and then he left and about an hour later in comes vice president mike pence. and jared kushner followed him and there were 27 of us. and the vice president said hey, i was just in the oval office, jared came in and said he was with you. and the president would like

to you come to the oval office. so it was impromptu thing. we were at the white house in a strategy meeting. we did not expect to see the president. so, needless to say, we all jumped up and we went down into the west wing into the oval office, which was just amazing that we found the president very happy, you know, you watch the media saying, you know, that the white house is all up in -- you know confusion. but he was happy. he was just joking and so, pastor paula white came to the president and said before we leave we would love to pray for you. he said i would love that and so then she asked one of the other pastors that was with us to pray. and then she asked me to pray. and i just prayed for his protection, really. because i realize the attack against our president, you know, to take him out. so we just prayed for him. and the wisdom of governed on his life. and that's what we did.

i can't tell you everybody i have met with have are discussions about potential campaign work. put it out. abby: why not do that about everything, anything that they think might become a quote, unquote story. as you know it's these leakers that have become a real problem for the trump administration. they can't figure out where they are coming from. they can't control them. how do they get ahead of this narrative? if there really is nothing to hide as you say and everyone in the administration saying look, there is nothing there, how do they get ahead of this? >> i think it's very important that the trump administration, by that i mean the individuals who work for the government, that are tasked with actually moving the agenda forward are doing their job. that means healthcare. that means tax reform. infrastructure spending. that means building a wall u that has to continue to move. what we need to do, we have seen this with the deep state. information that continues to come out from government officials. with the russia investigation unit outside what the realm of the government has to do has to be transparent. here is what happened in the past here. are the meetings that have transpired. who here is who we know have been in these meetings.

don jr. said he will cooperate. jared kushner said he will cooperate. they are willing to cooperate with any investigation. any question. let's get that done so we can move onto the real agenda u. todd: the lawyer in me is saying why wasn't this done months ago if not years ago? why weren't these disclosures done instantaneously? whenever i have to fill out a form, i'm as dutiful and as exacting as i can possibly be. these aren't unsavvy individuals. i understand they may not be politically savvy, but presumably they gild out forms. even though i'm rooting for the president, i don't understand why this wasn't done at the outset. >> don jr. is a private citizen. has never been a government employee. is never going to be a government employee. he has no obligation to fill out anything. is he a private citizen who met with a private discontinue who is in the private sector. don jr. has no obligation. what jared kushner did attended a meeting for sounded like three or four minutes. the obligation was to fill out that name on a form. but he had hundreds of meetings. and i think he probably overlooked and then went back and had a recreation through

his thorns of the emails that he individually met with and said i need to update my form. he did that back in january. out of all the people that he met with he filled out that were forks he said i'm going to refill out to make sure it's 100 percent accurate. that's what you do sometimes. here is what the crazy party is. don jr. was asked to have a meeting from a friend of his u hey, i'm going to have a friend in town. maybe they can help the campaign maybe they can't. would you take the meeting? i would do this all day long. clayton: the president this week made some waives when he suggested that he most people would have taken this meeting. so would you have taken this meeting? >> let me give you a very concrete example. one of the guys who worked on the campaign for us, one of the state drerks called me on tuesday, corey, i have a friend who is coming to washington. they want a job in the administration. would you sit down and talk to them. number one, i don't work for the administration. number two, a colleague, a friend, someone i trusted asked me to meet with somebody. i sat down and had a 15-minute conversation. they said, hey, can you help me get a job in the administration? i don't work there anything can i do to help. it was a nothing meeting, right? lasted 15 minutes.

no actionable items. did i it as a favor and courtesy. it happens allth time. abby: anyone who thinks this doesn't happen in elections are kidding themselves. it doesn't mean it's right and these things should happen but it's real. >> here's the other thing. i don't work for the government. york for the campaign. york for the president. i'm a private citizen. corey, i have a great idea. i can save out government a trillion dollars. can you sit down and talk to me. i have a way to build the wall with lego blocks greatest thing ever. i need 15 minutes of your time. people solicit meetings all the time. most of them you don't have the time to entertain. clayton: this was obviously an interesting meeting in that they were offering up potential, you know, damaging information against hillary clinton. the question this morning is still unfolding. we still don't know the answer to these democrats that may have incriminated hillary clinton in some capacity. we don't know if they everywhere left at the meeting and if the trump campaign got their hands on these documents. did you ever see these documents that were allegedly left or not? >> i didn't see them.

you have to remember. let's go back to june of 2016, our own government, the cia did not notify the obama administration that russia was potentially attempting to meddle in the election august of 202015. in the cia didn't notify our government that there was a potential problem. somehow it that we would have a question of meeting with someone that might have information. you can't retroactively go back and say we knew russia was meddling. our own government didn't do anything. and the obama administration didn't do anything to you try to stop it. abby: have you a lot of people in the media that have their agenda. we have many democrats that don't want to accept the election results. david axelrod asked representative john lewis about the election. he was one of them who still thinks that the election was rigged in favor of donald trump. >> despite the fact that he got the requisite number of electoral votes, he often uses the word riddle.

about higher premiums. how do you agres address the 20 million people. abby: messaging on this is huge. how do republicans take advantage of this narrative? because they do have a good story to tell. you think about the small business owners out there. we have all talked and all heard their stories. it's heart-breaking. they actually can't succeed in running their small business because of healthcare of all of things. republicans have got to come together and figure out exactly howe to talk about what this plan is. there are a lot of americans out of there that don't understand what's in it how is this going to make my life better? how can they figure out getting that messaging right? todd: that's the secret to the republicans' success. they have to explain. democrats say you are going to die if obamacare is changed. that's why they win. clayton: people suffering from cancer or chemotherapy who are going into these town hall meetings of these republican senators who are back home for a little bit of a recess

instead, all three covered the picture that beyonce posted on instagram of her twins. and, you know, that that's not to say that the networks shouldn't cover her twins. we're all happy that they're healthy, that she has little babies that we can celebrate with her. but if they can cover that why cannot they pay attention to charlie gard that has support from president trump from pope francis, hospitals around the world and medical experts in the united states. clayton: you ask this question why aren't they covering this? why don't they deem this story necessary? >> right. it's hard to discern the incentives of the networks. the people running them. but i can tell you that this is a long standing trend with these networks to life issues. twist them. can you look at one of the greatest examples is the pro-life annual march for life that happens in d.c. hundreds of thousands of

americans go to that and if you want to look at the coverage of that they and the comparison, they covered these networks, same networks covered the woman's march vastly more. 129 times more they covered the woman's march this year than the march for life last year. and the networks only improved that coverage again this year because president trump kind of pushed them to do so. but they still, the networks covered the woman's march more. so you know it's a long standing trend of the networks to twist or silence these issues. clayton: east coast morning joe hang on every tweet the president puts out. zero coverage on the charlie gard issue following the president's tweets. that's curious. >> that's right. it goes to show that the president, he can do some good getting these stories out in to the news. i mean, it's kind of amazing to see that the -- this story of this little boy is in the

be uttered right now it's so far out of the realm of what we're talking about. and this talk about treason. tim kaine who is the vice -- this close to being the next vice president out there talking about treason, how somehow donald trump jr. has committed treason here when there's absolutely no evidence whatsoever that anything nefarious went on, let alone a crime has been committed. but -- and i really do think that they're clearly playing to their base, they're lying to them, and i think that the democratic party is headed for a major crack up because of, you know, because of this kind of -- it's so disrespectful to voters. abby: what does this mean, though, for voters going to polls? because it seems democrats are still trying to get over the fact that president trump won the election. if they want to make a difference and have that voice, they have to start winning elections; right? so why is this their focus, charles? why are they not saying, hey, we have to figure out what our agenda is. we have to figure out what we stand for.
