>> we learn more and more about the trend campaign relationship with russian officials in what appears to be an ongoing effort. >> it has an impact on the country. this congress will make a decision. >> fox news contributor kai benson and strategist and fox news contributor, thank you both for being here. take it off. i think delusional? >> definitely overreach. my mind is open to the possibility that at some point we can get evidence that's actually impeachable. high crimes and misdemeanors along those lines. they may not have the information until robert miller's investigation is complete. based on everything we know today, filing articles of impeachment i think is massively immature. it makes them look like there are no which had.

i think it actually helps donald trump and the president and his team because it energizes his base and supporters and it makes conservatives like myself say that democrats are way off base here. >> do you agree? >> i was a good one. i tend to agree. it would take all that, but impeachment is a little bit far out right now. there were meetings, the e-mails are definitely problematic for the white house to change the story. charles krauthammer and other top conservatives have said this gives the white house lost credibility. is impeachable? not quite yet. wait and see what it points out. it's important for democrats to focus on getting our message out to the american people. what are we for and what are we against?

mueller will have something to say in the next couple months. todd: you guys are rand agreement. i will try and show little red meat. the don junior beating change the election anyway, shape or form? >> it's impossible to know. this meeting started with four people. now we are at six people. >> the numbers change so fast. i can't remember. >> do you really think there's any possibility that this particular meeting with this woman impacting the 2016 election? unless you can find evidence that she and her friend somehow convinced through this meeting hillary clinton not to campaign in michigan and wisconsin, then there's nothing. >> i agree. the clinton campaign has its fair share of problems. all 17 intelligence agencies say

the change of o.? no. is that problematic? it absolutely is. now we figure out whether the trump family, trump associates in campaign people, who was talking to the russians? what impact -- what possible impact could that have? we don't know that until the mueller investigation takes court. what was said, what information was exchanged. >> drilling down into this one female attorney. was that she brought into this by the obama administration? >> that the red herring. don junior should not have met with her, especially after the e-mail exchange showed she was somehow connected to the russian and on top of that changed its stories. it was just a meeting. i wasn't sure. another seven people in the meeting.

i knew she was going to do russians. both democrats and republicans agree here. >> didn't that woman also work as sort of a democratic lobbyist in many respects? >> she was tight as democratic firm coldfusion gps. it's weird she ends up in the room with donald trump junior. there's a good possibility she was a kremlin cut out whether they have anything to do with this have no idea. if they were trying to bait donald trump junior to doing something shady with the russians, mission accomplished. ballots on hand. but if this is on the democrats if they were behind us, they never used it against the trend campaign. i'm a little bit skeptical of the theory. i want to go back quickly to the initial premise which is impeachment. it's very important for voters, republican voters in particular to think about this. right now, paul ryan is the speaker of the house.

the funds we don't have bombshell new evidence of crimes in impeachable offenses, impeachment is going nowhere. democratic backbenchers pushing for this. in the event the democrats win the house next year, a democratic house is going to move forward with impeachment regardless of what the evidence is. >> we have to see what the mueller investigation says first. i would say to republicans listening when information stirs to roll out, what's being said and not just say it's partisan rancor because there's more there. >> absolutely. >> great discussion. a lot to think about. coming up, congressman john lewis tries to get president trump a history lesson. >> the person we have in washington today is uncaring, no very, very little about the struggle in the history of the

that's a form of harassment. >> dr. king, your thought. >> well, first i would like to say my president is leading the charge for civil rights today for the little unborn persons in the world who have a right to live. i'm director of civil rights for the unborn and i say that everybody civil rights count around the world to the tune coming young, old, sick, elderly, babies and a woman everything. the president is certainly fighting for civil rights. with african-american leaders and everyone there is supporting. i believe president trump might agree that we are defending america. you're supporting him. as the african american museum for example, he was knowledgeable of much of the history when we stopped and looked at the slave manacles them things. he said this is terrible.

you can't do that to people. president trump is surrounding himself with knowledgeable people. president trump himself as a brilliant man. i believe he's compassionate. look at all the executive orders, for african-american moving into our family but dr. ben carson and had. there were so many things he's doing working with african-american leaders. >> the problem is people are lazy and they don't want to look at the bright things being done. it's an easy attack for democrats to constantly at republicans for being racist. why did they always pull the card? >> the card being played on another congressman lewis from the civil rights movement of the 20th century when we marched and went to jail, so people don't really know that many. you can live and walk but she may not know the history to a

trump elected. people think that this is what we talked about in the west wing. we couldn't care less. we are working with pushing forward, and we're making america great again. >> and one of the ways that they're pushing forward, trying to push forward is in health care. turning now to a fox news alert. a lot happened overnight. health care on hold. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell delaying considerations of the gop health care bill. >> yeah. that's coming after this man, senator john mccain announced he would be recovering from surgery this week. abby: ellison is live in washington, d.c. with the very latest on this. good morning. >> good morning to you all. any sort of vote on health care is not going to happen this week. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell says they are tabling the legislation because of senator mccain's health. in a statement mcconnell said quote there are few people tougher than my friend john mccain, and i know he'll be back with us soon. while john is recovering, the senate will continue our work on legislative items and nominations, and we'll defer consideration of the better

care act. mccain's office says he's staying in arizona this week on the advice of doctors. but is in good spirits. this as senate leaders face pressure from the white house to fulfill the long time campaign promise of repealing and replacing obamacare. >> this deal, as i mentioned, gives states unprecedented freedom and flexibility to reform medicaid and bring better coverage, better care, and better outcomes to our most vulnerable and our society. abby: republicans missed the last deadline they set for passing health care reform. republican leaders hope to vote on the latest proposal this week. the bill was on shaky ground to begin with. without mccain, it's unlikely senate republicans can get the minimum votes to pass it. two republican senators, senators rand paul and susan collins already announced their intention to vote against the bill. you combine that with mccain's

absence, and that puts the available republican yeses at 49. republicans, of course, need more than that. no word now on when they expect to hold a vote. all they're saying now on the leadership side is that it's deferred. abby, clayton, todd. >> allison, thank you. abby: it reminds you, though, every vote matters. hopefully the best for senator john mccain. this is very tight. as you can imagine the democrats, clayton, they're loving every moment. clayton: well, democrats have advice for republicans. and dan pfeiffer tweeting this. former senior adviser to barack obama. he tweeted this: general rule of politics. if you have to rush to pass your bill before people find out what's in it, you will regret passing that bill. that's really good advice. abby: it's great advice. and probably something they should have listened to eight years ago when they shoved obamacare down everybody's throat. do you remember this moment with nancy pelosi? this was in 2010 she was talking about passing obamacare. take a listen. >> we have to pass the bill so

that you can find out what is in it away from the fog of the controversy. >> and you wonder why people dislike politicians and specifically congress in general. abby: the irony there, though, of his statement of you should really take your time, get to know what is inside this bill. maybe get some bipartisan support before passing. the complete opposite, by the way, of what the democrats did back then. >> short-term memory loss. it's like dori. you know, finding nemo. she can't find five minutes. abby: i have that problem now with the pregnancy brain. it's a real problem. >> it is a real problem. abby: no, i think it's a reminder as republicans. they've got to get this right. communicate with the american people. what are they trying to pass? >> well, it's a difficult narrative. i mean, first of all, for democrats, the narrative has been preexisting conditions, we're going to take care of you. you don't have health care insurance, we're going to provide health care insurance for you. republicans right now are in a difficult position, and they admit that this narrative is not on their side.

you're going to remove health care, you're going to try to change -- your argument is premiums are going up. well, we haven't really been hearing that narrative from them. we haven't been hearing them doing town hall meetings where they've been facing all of this criticism from angry people in kentucky and other places saying you're going to take away my health care. is it enough to go to these town hall meetings and saying we're going to take away from health care. abby: you wonder what's worse. getting the messaging right and promising people everything and then realizing if you don't have health care, you're going to pay for it anyway. they promised all of these things eight years ago and now what you're expecting. now republicans i think we need to learn from that. get your messaging right but also promise things to the american people that you can actually deliver on. >> but the problem is the democrats turn around and spin the republicans messaging and basically say, oh, the republicans are going to kill you, and that's a real, tough message to walk back from. abby: but, you know, we've got to get health care right. everyone is passionate about

this one. we'll see where this goes but what is it? one sixth of our economy? >> yeah. one sixth. >> no one said it was going to be easy. health care is not easy, certainly not in this day and age. but when we talk to the people, they want this, and they want taxes, and they want it done. they're tired of excuses. abby: turning now to other headlines we're following this morning. the supreme court issuing a deadline to hawaii, giving the state until tuesday to respond for the judge's latest ruling. hohonolulu district judge from those seeking visas from six muslim majority countries. and just days after a terror attack, this is new video from a temple mount and noble sanctuary compound this morning. where security, as you can imagine, is extra tight. two police officers were ambushed after being in that compound on friday. the three palestinian gunmen

killed in the attack. the sacred ground is shared by jews and muslims. also the president appointing former federal prosecutor as white house special counsel. he's being in charge of the white house legal and media response. the investigation into alleged russian medaling in the 2016 election. that will be a job. cob will work closely with president trump's outside legal team led by mark kasowitz. and mike pence has a special message for the media. take a look. >> president trump promised we would get tired of winning. become the forgotten war after 16 years. this is after killing the head of isis core group in afghanistan and certainly it will take a toll on that organization. but as we have always discovered, clayton, because the radical islamists are committed to a religious and political belief system, that's what they commit to. they don't commit to leaders, that the organization will continue to go on. you know, six years after we killed osama bin laden, that's where we are right now, that organization is revitalized, and it's thriving. it's as strong as it has ever been. clayton: how frustrating is it for you, general, as the architect of the surge being involved in that and seeing all of the advancements that we made in that region to see us have to fall back and reclaim territory that we gave up? >> yeah. it's sad, and it's tragic, and it's frustrating. as much as that's painful to me, it's so difficult for our soldiers who are out there every day, you know, having to

deal with the reality of that. we walked away from iraq in 2011, and that got us isis. people from the previous administration don't want to stitch that together, but that is the truth of it. we don't have this problem if we had stayed in the game in iraq like we did post conflict in germany, in italy, in japan, and in south korea. when we walk away like we did in vietnam, somalia, haiti, we have problems. that is on the doorstep of president obama. here we are in afghanistan, and also, his policies have driven us to a war here, that's not winnable. and right this coming week, it's interesting as you're bringing this subject up, the president is meeting with his national security team this week, and they're going to try to arm wrestle what do we do about afghanistan? is there a way forward? is there a path forward that we can come out of this thing for a win for the afghan people and also for all of the

soldiers who have sacrificed so much? >> yeah. he has to cleanup a lot right now. he's got a lot on his plate and quite a mess to deal with here. what is the administration doing right? we see this isis leader killed in afghanistan. but what is that path forward this week when he meets with that team? where do we go from here? >> well, first of all, i give the administration some pretty good marks when it comes to foreign policy and national security because they have put america's leadership back on the world tangle promoting peace, prosperity, and security reassuring our allies. and they're willing to confront our adversaries. north korea, iran, china, and certainly russia in a way that we have not in the past. when it comes to afghanistan, we have got to deal with the sanctuaries that the afghan taliban have in pakistan. that's job one. if we don't deal with that, then the war is protracted, and we're going to sacrifice more soldiers i think unnecessarily. so that, we have got to come

to grips with that. and then put the resources back into afghanistan. yes, that requires some form of escalation. i'll leave it to the people who are closer to it than me. what that is. and commit yourself to the government that's in afghanistan and also help them in terms of their political reform and corruption. but make a commitment to the country that we're going to stay the course -- if we don't -- if we walk away or we leave it as it is, it becomes a breeding ground for radical islam terrorism that will be exported to europe and exported to the united states. it directly affects the security of the american people, and that is really what's on the table. >> and that's at the heart of the argument. general, always great to see you. enjoy your sunday. thank you very much for joining us. >> good talking to you, clayton. >> thank you, general. >> coming up on the show, how do the supporters feel about the antitrump protest unfolding this weekend? we sent todd to find out. >> he's our president now. i didn't like their president,

>> well, antitrump protesters hitting the streets yesterday, including outside the golf club in new jersey where the president attended attended the u.s. open. abby: as this two voted for him also related nearby to voice their support. >> so what do they think of all the protests? went out to find out. >> what do you think those protesting the u.s. open at the golf course? >> i think it's ridiculous. i'm tired of the protests. >> it's unrealistic because he is our president. and all due respect, if you go against the president, you go against the country.

he's our president now. i didn't like their president, but i wasn't out there saying he should be dumped. >> they don't like our president, let them at least respect him. >> what do you think of the protests here during u.s. women open weekend? >> it's been at the golf course when he was not president, so i see no problem with it. >> he owns the golf course. what's he supposed to do? just give up on everything that's done? >> as a local, i think the president being here along with the golf tournament is going to be wonderful for our economy. >> usa. usa. >> how do you think the mainstream media is going to cover this rally? >> they're not. they'll get a whole group photo of the opposition, and they'll say trump -- antitrump protesters were in full force, and they'll just show a couple of us. that's what happened last time we were here. clayton: well, with those glasses, of course. dagen: yeah, i love the sunglasses, but she's so spot on. how often did you watch the mainstream media, and it seems it's blowing up out of control, and you actually

physically go because oftentimes as journalists or what we do is we go out to where the action is, and you see what's going on on the ground is far different than what's being reported. >> his frustration during the campaign is, look, they're not going to pull this camera shot back. they're not going to show you how many thousands of people are here in this stadium right now. they're only going to show you, you know, the 30 people that are by the stage right now. but they're going to show you wide shots of jeb bush rallies, and that was a frustration, things we heard from him. >> and although some people may think that president trump's tweets are not in the best interest, he does have to tweet in order to get that message out. for these folks, however, they don't need any tweets. they are so for the president. in fact, we were talking about this earlier. they're often antirepublican, and that was the thing that stood out to me. they are very antirepublican in congress. they want the republicans to figure out a way to pass th the president's because they say, look, the president complained on this.

we voted him into office. he's trying to get these major, major policy issues accomplished. yet, the republicans are standing in the way. obviously, the democrats are the obstructionists that are preventing the republicans from accomplishing a lot of those goals, but still. there was a lot of anger towards republicans in congress out there. abby: you know, i heard that when i was in the diner on friday. they don't feel like enough republicans, like the leaders in the house and the senate are doing enough to stand by president trump right now to defend him when times get tough. i heard that from a number of people. but there were protests breaking out throughout the country that of course you saw if you're watching the mainstream media. but really nowhere else do you see the pro trump -- i've never seen a group so loyal as this that support president trump. you say what you will about them, but they are die-hards. they will stand by him no matter what. >> this is also new jersey too. a very liberal state. abby: good point. the big news out of washington this morning, health care delayed as senator john mccain recovers from surgery.

do you think that this is going to delay it any further than this week? what is your sense of things? >> well, look, giving it more light of day is just fine, and everybody's going to understand everybody's hearts on both sides of the aisle. i'm sure it's with senator mccain and his family. but by all accounts, he'll be back up on his feet before we know it. and allowing it a little bit more time to percolate, so everybody gets to see and understand what's in it. i don't think that's a problem. a, though, i've got to tell you. i do wish they had voted on the house bill. i still don't understand with all the gyrations we did in the house of representatives, why did we vote on that bill? but with two senators already baig on this next one, boy, there is literally not a single vote to give at this point. >> you're not confident in this. abby: yeah, what is the hold up? because you have been on the inside of this leading the way on so much issues for years now. now you're at an interesting position being on the outside looking in. help us and help the american people understand why things aren't getting done at a pace

that many expect they should. because american people are upset about this. they're, like, you've promised health care for seven years now. why don't you have it done? >> well, look, i'm ticked about it as well. was a chairman back in the day, and in the november, december time frame, we were told by leadership that we were going to front-end or front load the january calendar because we wanted to have the health care bill on the president's desk by january 20th. and so here we are, you know, turning the corner into july, and you get the sense that they just now starting to look at it in the senate. >> why, though? why? >> about the house bill. i don't know. you know, i heard senator tumi say, well, we never ever thought that president trump would be a president trump. >> right. >> and that may be very true, but i voted more than 50 times to repeal obamacare. but do you think we actually brought up that bill to vote on it once donald trump was the president? no, they didn't bring that up bill because that was just

pretend back then. they never did bring up that bill. >> jason, i want to get you to the cbo score just because referring driver as a cbo score, a lot of people may not understand exactly what that score means, how they get there. and quite frankly, does it matter? you've been in the trenches. thund. break it down for the american people. >> well, it does give you a perspective. with the congressional office does is what's going to happen financially in what's called the ten-year window. they also do a 75-year trajectory to try to guess. but they were off by millions of people on the last one as it related to the health care vote. and remember, one of the things that the bills do is repeal the individual mandate because you're not forcing people to go on health care. then you're probably not going to have as many people sign up to it. but, for me, it's a liberty. it's a freedom issue. i just don't think you force people to do that in the united states. but that score is something that's thrown around as, oh,

you're going to have this many people -- this many less people involved or engaged in health care. but it's a perspective. it's something for the senators at this point. abby: you're upset about it, so is the ceo of jp morgan chase. i'm sure you saw this video. he was on a phone call, and he went off on the dysfunction in washington. take a listen to this: >> this administration can make breakthroughs in taxes and infrastructure and regulatory reform. we have become the most -- one of the most bureaucratic, confusing societies on the planet. it's embarrassing being an american citizen traveling around the world and listening to the stupid (bleep) we have to deal with in this country. and at one point, we all have to get our act together or we won't do what we're supposed to do for corporations. competitive taxes are important for business and business growth, which is important for jobs and wage growth. and, you know, honestly, we should be bringing that along. >> he went on to say, jason, we've been growing at 1.5 to 2%, in spite of the stupidity right now.

so we've been growing at this despite all of the regulation and stupidity. one, big chunk of the health care bill is the 3% surcharge that now looks like republicans are going to pull out. this of course levied against investors. republicans look like they're going to keep that in the health care law as well, which is i mean, if you're trying to grow this economy, is this a smart move? you can sense his frustration. >> well, that same frustration is the reason we have president trump. but i know that donald trump as the president i'm sure is very frustrated as well. but, look, i think the country is tired of the democrats screaming impeachment and collusion. they're just opposed to absolutely everything. on the republican side of the aisle, we were elected as -- in the house and the senate and the presidency to get stuff done. to get things passed. so this year's agenda, you've got to repeal and replace obamacare, and you've got to get meaningful tax reform. those are the two big items for 2017.

why do you like this new proposal? >> well, because it sends a message that we're serious about enforcing our immigration laws and that it's not going to be tolerated, and it's also going to relieve that enormous backlog that has come to the immigration courts under the obama administration, which is a big problem because, first of all, it's much more costly. but also, so many illegal immigrants do not show up for their hearings in immigration court. they just disappear into the illegal population. using this tool of expedited removal will not only get them out of the country more quickly, but also make it easier for the courts to deal with some of the other more difficult cases. so this is really good news. it's cost effective for the government, it's going to help reduce illegal immigration, and send that message that, you know, just because you get past the border patrol or overstay your visa, you're not here home free.

you're going to get caught and removed. >> francisco under the new proposal instead you need to be here at least two weeks, you need to be here at least 90 days. and it is the entire country. what's your response to that proposed change? >> well, ms. vaughan comes from a very good organization, but she's connected things that have nothing to do with each other. my goodness. expedited removal has gone on for years. so the new proposal, there is no new proposal. we're going to keep doing what we're doing. expedited removal is used every day. what this really is a detraction to even get the wall off the ground. there's not even a cinder block put in the ground. there's nothing going on. we know we can't build it. why don't we move on to congress, do an immigration reform like we've been talking about on both sides of the issue for 17 years. this is nothing but a detraction from the real point. they can't do anything on immigration. congress is still asleep. >> jessica, your response. >> well, it's true that congress can't get out of its own way and seems a little

bit -- you know, at least the republican leadership seems a little too reluctant to keep up immigration measures. i mean, there's an antisanctuary bill sitting before the u.s. senate right now. but this salah that's been on the books for a long time that has not been used to its full potential. and now it's going to be used by the trump administration in a very effective way, and it's important because illegal immigration is an enormous burden on american communities. not just the border communities, but everywhere that are having to put up with illegal hiring and elicit drugs and gangs in our communities, and the cost of social services. so this is an urgent problem that needs to be dealt with, and they need to use all of the tools available within the laws that congress has already passed to address it. >> francisco. >> we're not going to use the expedited removal if you've been here more than 90 days, that makes absolutely no sense. >> francisco, i have to leave

polls. they are not good for us. that's what you are seeing right now. that's the defense from white house this morning about the cbo numbers. how accurate will they be? we don't know. the argument is over 23 million people will be thrown off of health insurance if you believe the cbo's numbers. >> the white house has put out this op-ed warning the american people before we even hear the latest from the cbo saying this is somewhat fake news. they say the cbo's methodology which favors mandates over choice and competition is fundamentally flawed as a result its past predictions regarding healthcare legislation have not born much resemblance to reality. its prediction about the senate bill is unlikely to be fair -- to fare much better although the media and political left will certainly seize on it. the cbo's estimates will be little more than fake news. obviously trying to get ahead of this thing, todd, because they know that no matter what is put in this bill, you have the media against you. you have democrats that are loving every minute of this because they want the republicans to look like they can't get this done.

promising this for seven years and they had that long to at least behind the scenes to be working on something, something to replace obama care with, why don't we have a conclusion? >> why not pass the house bill to his point? it's been out there. he said we voted on it 50 times we were doing like it was monopoly, it wasn't for real because we were playing around with it because we knew obama wouldn't sign it in the law. here's us repealing obama care. we've gone through the motions. why not pass that version of the bill? now the sort of watered down weird version of it, he doesn't sound hopeful at all. he doesn't think it will pass. >> going on to the cbo score. he said it is focusing on these mandates and if you are not forcing people under the current bill that's proposed to provide insurance, obviously the number of people insured is going to go down, hence the discrepancy, hence the number provided by the cbo what is used as fodder by the democrats to say look at how many people are going to be off healthcare.

in reality, not so much because the republicans use a different calculation. >> that's why they need to communicate what is in this bill to the american people. if you see the cbo score, 22, 23 million people that won't have insurance, you compare that to obama care which the majority are not happy with. you say okay no health insurance or insurance i can't pay for; right >> let's talk about this now. it's almost football season. you kind of smell it in the air. >> next week we're starting to get football ready to go. an interesting article in the chicago tribune, an opinion piece by a columnist there is attacking the star spangled banner as the reason for all of the problems that we're facing with colin kaepernick. here's what kaepernick did. you remember him he was on his knees and he was then benched. some were saying that was the result of him because he was benched. no, he was benched because he wasn't good. he was throwing interceptions. he didn't know what he was doing. a reporter from the chicago

healthcare reform. so republicans can't afford to lose more than two. we already have rand paul, senator from kentucky and senator susan collins from maine saying they plan to vote against it. so there's no room. there's no wiggle room here. >> what are the main issues that some senators are having with this bill? >> well there are two big issues. there is the medicaid expansion under obama care, 32 states including the district of columbia, they signed up for this, to be able to include more lower income people into medicaid. 19 states didn't. now, they were getting federal subsidies and federal support for that, which will be slowly tapered off, but under this reform, it's tapered off far more quickly. you have a lot of republicans senate republicans who are concerned that their state will, you know, get the ax under this new reform bill. i'm thinking in particular of dean heller, the senator from nevada. nevada is a red state, but however, it did go for hillary in this last election cycle. so he's very concerned about, you know, how he should vote.

the governor of nevada, a republican, very popular, he has 64% approval rating, and he's against the senate reform bill. >> politics always play a role here. >> absolutely. >> we have been talking about this all morning. we were talking about during the break. how important the messaging is when it comes to republicans helping the american people understand what is in this bill, how it is going to make their healthcare better, why it is better than obama care. how do you think they are doing so far on the messaging front? what more do they need to do? >> you tell me. who is the spokesperson for the senate healthcare bill. >> i have no idea. >> we work in news and we don't know. i think that's been a real problem for republicans. they haven't had a strong consistent advocate for what's in this bill. >> because the democrats can easily just jump in with their lazy narrative of republicans just want to kill people. >> we actually heard democrats saying things like that out. it was really outrageous and very irresponsible. where is the republican countermessage to say this is what's in the bill. this will help you. by the way, the status quo is untenable, abby.

obama care is imploding. it needs to be reformed. unfortunately i don't think republicans have done a very good job of explaining what precisely it is they are going to do to make healthcare better. >> the american people are speaking out. new poll at rasmussen showing that majority of americans they want more competition in the marketplace. they want to be able to cross state lines, to be able to pick an insurance market that is more affordable for them and to be able to pick their own plan. >> absolutely. we have found that that upwards of 75, 76% of likely voters would like to have health insurance across state lines. if you lived california, you can get a health insurance plan that's offered in texas or maine. >> it makes the sense. if you talk to any governor, they would say the same thing. thank you for joining us. >> absolutely. with the national anthem, whitney houston, super bowl, 91, absolutely electric, i love the national anthem. >> thank you. new twist about the russian lawyer who met up with donald trump jr. the doj under loretta lynch

her visa gets denied. why? so her visa is denied. they are in a court proceeding in new york and suddenly it is the justice department thatn't whats her to show up -- that wants her to show up to help the party that the justice department is proceeding against. weren't there any american attorneys to do this? there has to be a sponsor under the law. somebody has to sponsor them for this sort of waiver. why not release the records? either the state department or dhs has all the information about this. let's see what it says in the file because it's truly bizarre. and plus, they didn't have any information for donald trump jr. she shows up and nothing happens in the meeting. there's no file given to them. the whole thing is strange. >> it is weird. and then of course you also have the other aspect of this which we talked a little bit earlier on the show, this idea that there might have been some intercepts, right? those people going into trump tower. why did the president ever say that? was he aware of something of these individuals coming in for

meetings that was being recorded at some point, and will that come out next? >> yeah. remember when the president said that they were monitoring what goes on in trump tower. look, i very much doubt this woman is only a lawyer. so it wouldn't surprise me if people are collecting information about her and her gang when they're roaming around trump tower. >> yeah. the big question too, i think, if you take a step back and look at the big picture here, did this meeting actually help president trump get elected? right? did anything come from this meeting? >> yeah, they didn't have anything. that's the other bizarre part. so the justice department lets this woman in for this strange set-up meeting that we're talking about now, and they didn't even have anything to offer the trump campaign. >> well, critics will say, though, and you know, hey, look, now we're turning it on to the obama administration. nothing to see here. that's what critics are going to say this morning. look what the white house is doing, trying to turn the other cheek on this. >> yeah. >> well, and remember, it was senator ted kennedy in the 1980s, you know, the democrats

have a long history of getting help from the russians. senator kennedy was the one who was writing the soviets offering to help topple ronald reagan and asking for the soviet union's help to make reagan lose the 84 election. the irony here is so thick. the democrats for the first time in 100 years worry about the russians. >> doesn't make any of it right but unfortunately this all goes on in campaigns. you were just appointed to president trump's voter fraud commission. what are you working on? >> well, the first meeting is next week. and what we are going to be doing is taking a look at cataloging vulnerabilities, and the real vulnerabilities in our election system. if you want to talk about foreign influence, we know that non-citizens are getting registered and voting, and we know that the system is broken down, that people are actually marking on their voter registration forms no, i'm not a citizen and still getting registered to vote in places like virginia >> there's concern, we heard representative lewis, i'm sure his concerns about these probes

because when you look at the number of people that will be off of medicaid, for example, that's because medicaid has expanded so much and there's fraud in it, and it used to be just for, you know, the impoverished. it is no longer that. and then you have got the number of people who will be cut from insurance. well that's because they are choosing to do so. when you take away all the fees that you had to pay if you didn't have health insurance, people will decide not to take it. as a result, the messaging has been critical. look, i think it's obviously getting tougher and tougher. at some point, they may have to actually change their focus and go to tax reform. i expect taxes to be cut this year. i don't know. they lost steve scalise in the house. they lost mccain in the senate for this week. we will see what happens next week. >> you have a lot of frustrated people with congress. we already know their approval rating; right? ceo of jpmorgan chase dimon was on a phone call and he was expressing a lot of frustration about what's going on in washington. take a look at this.

>> this administration can make breakthroughs in taxes infrastructure regulatory reform. we have become the most -- one of the most bureaucratic confusing litigious societies on the planet. it is almost an embarrassment being an american citizen traveling around the world and listening to the stupid [ bleep ] we have to deal with in this country. at one point we all have to get our act together or we won't do what we're supposed to do for the average american. competitive taxes are important for business and business growth which is important for jobs and wage growth. honestly we should be -- >> that made a lot of news because it is jamie dimon. i got sent so many messages from family and friends saying amen this is how i have been feeling >> absolutely because jamie dimon voiced what many other americans are feeling right now. people want congress to get the job done. after that whole rant, one of the people on the conference call, this was his earnings conference call, said so are you frustrated with the trump administration? hoping for a fight. and he said no, my frustration is with you. i'm not frustrated -- he's frustrated that things cannot get done.

look, in the last eight years, the democrats were very effective in passing the affordable care act, in passing dodd frank and a whole host of other regulations within energy and manufacturing. as a result, these regulatory moves have caused business to stop, to sit on their cash, to hire lawyers, to make sure that they were compliant with all this stuff. as a result, they haven't been investing that money in jobs. they haven't been investing in infrastructure, in it. dimon says look, you are supposed to move the country forward. let's get something done. he's absolutely right to complain about 1 1/2 to 2 percent growth, economic growth. what a disappointment. we need to move the needle on this stuff. and it happens with healthcare and tax reform getting done. >> the 1 to 2 percent like jamie said is in spite of ourselves. we're still doing that we could hit 3 if all those regulations go away. >> remember, jamie dimon has listening been a democrat. remember the financial crisis the government went against him when he helped to save the financial services sector by doing those acquisitions.

he said i'm a democrat hanging on by my fingernails because he's so frustrated. it is not that he's basically saying you know i'm -- he's upset with the whole congress. he's upset with democrats and republicans. he wants the agenda to get execut executed. >> you have a great show today. you have tom price, which is interesting, slamming those cbo numbers as well. >> lindsey graham. yes. >> we're going to play a clip from rand paul to say why he was a no on the current bill. we will see how it goes. >> in about 23 minutes right here on the fox news channel. maria, thank you. >> thank you. terrifying moments all caught on camera, a fighter jet pilot making a life-saving decision ejecting himself from his burning plane just seconds before it explodes on a runway. take a look at that. the plane traveling down the runway, when flames began shooting from its engine. the landing gear collapsing as the jet continues down the tarmac.

and great america cochair and democratic pollster and fox news contributor. start with you, eric, are they getting a pass? >> they are. here's the reality. less than 24 hours after the election, you know, the hillary campaign, the losing campaign, started the russia gate narrative. and the facts are this, the most underreported stories, you know, considering russia gate are the ones that probably have the most evidence of collusion. you look at the dossier. this ukraine situation is also, you know, very telling in that, you know, did the dnc pay for a consultant, collude with anybody or exchange any kind of favors with anybody in the ukrainian government? the ukrainian ambassador when he did an op-ed in the hill it was very telling in terms of the timeline >> there's no question, jessica, that these things happen in campaigns. does it make it right? no. we have seen in the past it happens on the republican side and democratic side. this meeting though with donald trump jr. and this russian lawyer, the question i have is we can all admit this is a story

and that he admits that it shouldn't have happened. he shouldn't have handled it the way he did. but does that meeting, how that played out, does that deserve the response that it has received now from democrats and many in the media -- media talking about impeachment now for president trump >> not just democrats or the media. a lot of republicans are deeply concerned about that meeting. i think the people who were in that meeting would help themselves out a lot if they hadn't lied time and time again. jared kushner releases 100 names of foreign agents that he worked with and met with but doesn't include the people in this meeting. don jr.'s story has evolved i think it's five times at this point. there was a former soviet intelligence officer. we all know there are no former soviet intelligence officers in that meeting. think the story has legs. republicans are right to be concerned about it as well and i think more of them should take that up. i'm surprised -- i'm not surprised. i do know eric and how he feels about these issues that he would say the dnc story is the real story here.

when the democrats hack the rnc on behalf of hilary clinton? >> we don't know -- >> but you don't know also what happened in that meeting. because don jr. and jared kushner and everyone else lied about it so many times, how do you know that no information was exchanged during it? the lawyer didn't -- >> eric, last word here, does that really change anything? >> no, it doesn't. i look forward to, you know, this investigation. the only problem is we have tons of leaks from these investigations. let's talk about the dnc e-mails. i mean -- >> we talked about it for months. and hilary clinton lost. donald trump is the president of the united states of america. if members of his campaign sought to collude, which it seems like they do, don jr. got pretty excited about that e-mail; right? saying oh i have got dirt on them, also i'm connect to the russian government. we love your dad. >> to be clear, dnc chair does deny any of these connections with the ukraine. eric, last word here? >> you know, again, i just think that the underreported stories
