11:00 am
they clown around all the time. >> jon: i am sure paired with a little car. >> melissa: we went to the circus to see the end of it. thank you so much for joining us. >> jon: "america's news hq" starts now. >> and we begin with a a fox news alert. jared kushner speaking out after answering some questions about russia on capitol hill. hello everybody i am julie banderas. president trump's son-in-law telling the intelligence committee, he did not work with russia to interfere in the presidential election. and campaign. jared kushner later giving it a statement. 11 pages and all, insisting all of his actions were proper. listen. >> let me be very clear. i did not collude with russia. nor do i know if anyone else in the campaign who did so. i had no improper contact. i have not relied on russian funds for my businesses.
11:01 am
i have been fully transparent in providing all requested information. >> julie: chief intelligent correspondent katherine harris is live. what happened earlier today? >> we have been here on capitol hill all day, and jared kushner arrived with his lawyer about three or four hours ago just before 10:00 eastern. we were down on the east side entrance, the senate office building if you're familiar with washington, d.c. we could see jared kushner smiling and waving to reporters. he did not take our questions. he then spent about 80 minutes inside one of the senate offices, where he took questions from the senate staff. republicans as well as democrats. earlier today, he released 11 page statement for the record i'm a witch provided to members of the committee. one of the main point a short time ago, he is willing to
11:02 am
cooperate further. >> since the first questions were raised in march, i have been consistent in saying, i was eager to share any information i had with the investigating bodies, and i have done so toda today. the records and documents i have voluntarily provided will show all of my actions were proper, and occurred in the normal course of events with a very unique campaign. >> kushner and a statement provided a lot of information about these contacts that he had with the russians. there were at least four. he said they were inconsequential. the most interest was the june 2016 meeting at trump tower, and he said in his statement for the record, it was -- discussing adoptions, he felt the meeting was a waste of
11:03 am
time. he called an assistant, an email rather, to give him a phone call to have a polite way to get out of that meeting, julie. >> julie: he does mention his assistant a couple of times. the reason why it was prematurely sent, the form, and why he had an assistant tried to get him out of the meeting. what is next for kushner? >> he has another session with the house intelligence committee, and that is scheduled for tomorrow. this will also be close, so be it nonpublic. people will not be able to watch it. over the weekend, the senior democrat on the house intelligence committee, adam schiff aligned, he would like to ask kushner i went out sunday talk shows. >> i want to know about several of the meetings with donald, jr., and several russians that we now know were in that meeting. also, his meeting that was alleged to have taken place with
11:04 am
the deb tank. as well as that conversation he had with the ambassador about setting up a secret back channel to russia. >> these contacts with russian either business people or officials connected to the government in this 11 page statement for the record, kushner says, that when he went to his security parent application, and fs-86, his application was wrongly filled and not complete, and despite media reports, he left off all of his foreign contacts not just russians. he filed an updated form with the fbi, and he had of what he called minuscule but small contacts with foreign officials. he described this as part of coming in with the new administration. we will see whether people on the hill also believe or at least agree with that
11:05 am
assumption, julie. >> julie: katherine harris, thank you so much. he did improve those 100 officials that he met with, only after it was filed. we'll talk more about that in a moment. meantime, president trump tweeting about his attorney general, jeff sessions, and saying, why are investigators and beleaguered ag not looking into hillary clinton and russian relations? also tweeting that republicans have a last chance to repeal and replace obamacare. just ahead of expected vote in the senate this week. the pressure is on. kristin fisher is live at the white house. do you know why the president is calling his ag, mack beleaguered? >> that is a great question. he is the main reason why his attorney general is beleaguered. lastly, the president himself told "the new york times" coming he was really frustrated that jeff sessions has decided to
11:06 am
recuse himself from the russian investigation. and now today, a new report that president trump is considering replacing jeff sessions with another familiar face from the campaign. former new york city mayor, rudy giuliani. this could turn out to be something serious or maybe the white house is simply floating the idea to see how the media and the public respond to the idea of an attorney general, rudy giuliani. we do not know you. these are all questions that will be likely asked of the new white house press secretary, sarah huckabee sanders when she meets with the press on air force one en route to west virginia today. that briefing will not be on camera. future briefings may be. the new communication instructor said on twitter, the tv cameras are back on. julie, read into that what you will. >> julie: he wants him back on camera. we will now have to wait as to when that will happen. it has been a few weeks since we
11:07 am
had that happen. what exactly does the president wanted senate republicans to do in regard to health care? >> the ultimate goal is still repeal and replace obamacare. if repeal is the only thing that senate republicans can agree on right now, president trump will take it. when he speaks in about an hour from now actually, the white house says the president will push for a motion to proceed on the health care bill. he also pressured senate republicans over the weekend pretty hard, boasting a peach and a series of tweets. here's the latest one from today. it says, republicans have a last chance to do the right thing on repeal and replace after years of talking and campaigning on it. on saturday, he said something similar at the uss ford. >> call that congressman and called a senator, and make sure you get it.
11:08 am
[cheers and applause] by the way, you can also call those senators to make sure you get health care. >> he will continue to pressure senate republicans and just about an hour. >> julie: we will have that live here on fox. kristin fisher, thank you very much. for more on all of this, chris stirewalt, political editor of "halftime report." thank you for coming on karen he defends his interactions and his movement prior to all of this coming to light. i want to start with the meeting with the russian ambassador. another russian official. he calls him typical contacts in his role. my question to you is, do you think that is typical to meet with foreign entities from a country like russia >> as he pointed out, there is nothing
11:09 am
typical about donald trump's campaign. to have your son-in-law and your son, one of your sons, senior advisor to the campaign. people do not normally do that. you end up in situations like this later on. there is not a lot that is typical about donald trump's campaign. kushner's same and is he is going his way through the process, and as donald trump, jr., said, he would have done things different thing in lieu of this. kushner says, i did not do anything -- there is no male intent. there is no intent to do anything wrong here. with all the evidence in front, we have the donald trump, jr., emails. there's still no evidence of collusion per se, but a coordinated effort to meet with the russians leading up to election is clear. we saw that in donald trump, jr.,'s email. why did the statement from
11:10 am
kushner takes a long? >> kushner, remember he is the first one to drop down here. here's the first one at the beginning to say, i want to cooperate with everybody. i want to hand over all the documents. i want to come i want to. yet his legal team in place. he was the first 1 to make the first accommodation for himself, it is difficult situation. it may not be good news for donald trump, jr., who is just no building on his legal team. he contradicted his own statement. kushner looks like he is in a better position to get a deal struck. >> julie: looks like you're throwing donald trump, jr., under the bus. he claims he did not read the email chain. therefore, he was unaware of the intent. the intent is clear. donald trump, jr., wanted to meet with the russian lawyer. not a member of the government, but a lawyer, who had dirt on hillary clinton, and it did indicate in those emails ties to
11:11 am
the russian government wanted to help the trump campaign. now, kushner is coming out and saying, he knew nothing of the sort. in other words, he went to this 4:00 meeting, not knowing what it was about, and supposedly emailed his assistant asking for him to get out of it. 10 minutes in. what you think of that story? >> you do not have to be around politics to be sitting in that room with the cast of characters and that is not for me. i will not endure one more second of this. i want to get out. >> julie: they started talking about adoption or she realize this is not above the belt. this was not okay. this was something that was not right. >> kushner has done enough business with russians come around the world. he is sophisticated enough person to understand that the people who were there, brought together, were not the kind of people that you want to be on the record having a meeting with if you are part of a presidential campaign. if you are that guy.
11:12 am
that is not the place to be. >> julie: all right. thank you very much, chris stirewalt. good to see you. we will be hearing from president trump in about an hour, when he gives a statement on health care from the white house at 3:15 eastern. after what the white house is saying victims of obamacare. vice president mike pence will be joining him for the announcement, it will carry for you here, live. a close call in this ties. a navy spy plane had to take evasive maneuvers after foreign fighter jets buzzed it. why in the volatile region aware plays out, and why it happened. investigators working to get to the bottom of a tragedy in texas. ten people now come at the number of dead rising. inside a sweltering 18-wheeler in an apparent case of human trafficking. now the driver is in court. facing serious charges as prosecutors say more arrest could be coming.

11:34 am
by republicans with the bill, and my own view for myself, i hope you do. the senate bill doesn't strike the right balance, but one way or another, we need a bill in order to have that debate. the leader will make the decision at some point whether that is repeal, repeal and replace. i hope it is repeal and replace. >> senator chuck schumer's lineup up for republicans what democrats what they could bring to the debate if they cannot bring it by themselves. he says one of the ideas is a single-payer health care. >> julie: will have to wait and see. as a health care world turns. peter doocy, thank you. donald trump has the "art of the deal." democrats says they have a better deal as they unveil a new message about the economic agenda. >> too many americans do not know what we stand for. not after today. president trump campaigned on a populist platform. talking to working people. that is why he won.

11:36 am
message coming from the dems. the focus should be on how they plan to fix their party. >> no question. i think for chuck schumer, what he saw with hillary clinton that months after the election, blaming -- she had a laundry list of about 25 items that whether it be russia, comey, the list went on and on. i think for chuck sumer saying, we cannot keep looking at the past, we have to look forward. the biggest challenge for chuck schumer is that not only has a been a very stale message. stale leadership. what you're starting to see in american politics is the shift away from wellwood be the party, and the party elite and more into the individual really. that happened in this past election. if there's any improvement, bernie sanders rise in popularity. when you saw donald trump rise
11:37 am
in popularity on the other side. it is less about party and more about what the individual and their ideas are. >> julie: i can see that turning in your face. can you talk about this new economic deal being put forward by democrats that need to bring the competition between themselves and republic and it. >> yes, absolutely. it is not about competition between republicans and democrats. it is about asking fundamental questions, julie. what is getting in the way of a pay raise for most americans? what is stopping small businesses from thriving? from the first time from 1970, we have more companies dying then being born. this is not acceptable. >> can ask a question >> >> the, now putting forward a real specific set of ways in which to
11:38 am
deal with it. it would be great if republicans got on board with the fact that people are working harder. companies are making more profits than ever before. guess what? none of the workers are actually benefiting from it. that is something that should not be a republican or democrat thing. it is great we had this new slogan. it would be great if senator chuck schumer did not step on it, because we do not need to be trapped with -- >> julie: i need to be fair. when you talk about workers being in a better place. the unemployment is actually down. it seems that workers are in a better place. mercedes? >> the american people do not want a better deal. they want a best deal. what president trump is doing, they're eliminating regulation and ensuring that the government is not in charge of -- you know it has been strangling businesses? the obama regulation. when you look at economic
11:39 am
optimism in the united states, it is higher than we have seen a long time. >> the competition does not exist anymore. >> high taxes thanks to the democrats. >> they are not in favor of competition. >> julie: thank you very much. great to see you both. new developments in a dispute between "the new york times" and this network. during the now is fox news, howard kurtz, host of "media buzz" and a fox news meeting and analysis. what is going on. >> "the new york times" is asking "fox & friends" for correction over a story that president trump and the controversy began by a story from katherine harris on network website, according head of the u.s. special command service. he said in a clear reference to "the new york times," while the military was pursuing ices

11:41 am
>> the "the new york times" sas that it was included in a pressure relief. at the time of a 2016 rate in syria, before the story. it was covered by numeral media outlets. that says it would've tipped off a big daddy who knew, his communication message. the fox inference segment was sheer hypocrisy, because fox also covered that two years ago when a spokesperson said, there's actually no comparison between cap and heritage is a brief report back in 2015, the newspaper report in 1,000 words, much more compromising detail and more details how he communicated and who played a role in delivering those medications, including the times reported that the terrace wife was cooperating, a spokesman for the fox also same, why did they wait a day and have to complain?

recuse himself from the russian investigation, and now he is calling him beleaguered industry. i want to read it first. why aren't the committees and events gears and of course our beleaguered ag looking into crooked hillary crimes in russia relations? is he trying to get jeff sessions to quite? >> this is a second time he's called out the attorney general. the president has a good point. you'll point the attorney general. it gets confirmed. next you know, he is recusing himself here and something that should have come up earlier. i can tell you is a former chairman of the committees seeking information, the attorney general would not provide that information. i thought that was the obama administration. i really thought when we turned a corner with president trump come all that investigation would be listener. in many ways, jeff sessions led as the attorney general, it has gotten worse not better. i was terribly frustrated that the documents were under subpoenaed requested by congress, letters from committee

chairman, were not flowing to the committees. you cannot do the investigation if you do not have the paperwork. >> julie: can you fire him? >> of course, he can fire him. >> julie: how would it look? >> he has been there less than six months. i want him to actually prosecute people that have violated the law. i want him to provide the documents to congress. certainly, the ones that have been subpoenaed. he is not done that. >> julie: there is a problem there. also, another problem appeared health care. last week as you know, the effort to simply repeal obamacare. that backfired. now, we are talking about multiple republican senators saying, they would not support that move. what happens next? what do senators do, and will there be a vote as early as tomorrow? >> the first motion would be to proceed in a body which should be the most known for deliberation. they can't even vote in favor of a motion to bring up the bill? this is supposed to be the easy part of doing this.
11:49 am
i can't imagine any republican senators saying, i don't even want to debate health care. >> julie: some are saying, reassurance might actually fix obamacare troubles. basically, it has bipartisan support. you basically take premiums, reduce them for those that are already really sick, and for those who essentially do not enroll on a wrigley basis. that gap they are, where if you let your health care labs for example. those with pre-existing conditions would have raised premiums. does this protect them, it will republicans buy it? >> it depends what they look at. certainly in the house, part of this premium support, as they call it, that was support to make move this process to the states and let the governors do it. it pushes much as you can to the states, and that would be a

huge, huge help. if you want to have to on jared kushner. he will be questioned by the house committee. one question, did you know about the meeting. he said he did not. he did not read the email chain and the others. >> i think it is an embarrassment that the united states senate called him before them. it is not right on the level of a senate inquiry, and certainly it was a different standard when all of a sudden, you had hillary clinton. president clinton taking millions and millions of dollars at the same time his wife, secretary of state. >> julie: and the emails, and we are talking about a meeting and he was not a politician at the time. >> he was a private citizen. throws of the campaign. he is trying to get out of the meeting. are you kidding me? hold that same standard to the clintons, it would be different. >> julie: went double

>> julie: here's a head turner. a wisconsin company getting ready to microchip 50 of its employees. they are volunteering for this. the group volunteered to get that tiny chip implanted into the body x week. chris gallagher is alive. please explain. >> you going to break room, odds are, your vending machines to get drinks or snacks. i was constantly was a wisconsin company, three square market, turning your breakroom into minimarket with a kiosk at 20,000 of these things

spread across the world. here's the big story. the company is now the first in the u.s. to offer its employees microchip implants the size of maybe a grain of rice. implanted between your thumb and forefinger. that skin right there. and when you get the implant, you can use it to pay for the things you buy and the micro-market. instead of scanning your iphone or your phone, your smartphone, credit card, you scan your hand. three square market says it is not mandatory, but they do expect 50 of their employees to get the implant, and the chip can also be used to get access to the building and to log into the company's computers. not to keep tabs on employees. listen. >> if i am one of your employees, and i have this chip in my hand, you will not know, josh is slacking off. i can tell. i'm reading the chip. >> there is no gps tracking at all. >> experts say won't be long
11:56 am
before microchips are used as driver licenses, even pay for things like public transportation. the chips being used by three square market were developed by company out of sweden. you have to wave your hand over it. i can't even get my iphone to log up at starbucks. >> julie: do not get it. did they run out of credit cards or cash or coins and l.a.? i do not know. that is great. great idea. all right, trace gallagher. we are waiting president trump at the white house, where he's expected to to make a statement about health care.
