the justice department has elements of it that are out of control and corrupt and are very left wing. i recommend studying the depth of corruption in the department. his son-in-law respecting fully that his 11-year-old son baron will be called next. he thinks is very one-sided. you have lots of evidence about the clintons, all of which has been put under the rug. what you're seeing with his tweets and comments, is the depth of his frustration. i think that sessions would agree with this, had they understood the situation, they

probably would have had a different attorney general with no connection with the campaign. rudy giuliani agreed he would have the same thing. is there a role for sessions that is effective and that pushes forward the president's agenda. are there steps that will be taken in the justice department that would bring us to a more balanced future? >> bill: so you warned him against firing sessions? >> yes, the president is a very strong-willed person and startlingly successful.

i'm encouraged we have a chance here to walk back from the brink which i think would be a very big problem. the senate in order to confirm any successor will wrap them up with things that would hold them back. >> bill: if he gets rid of jeff sessions, does that get rid of the russian issue? >> no. i think what we are seeing is a demonstration of frustration. he's a very public person needs a very, very direct guy as you know. tweeting has been one of his most effective tools. they have been remarkably effective for his agenda and reaching the american people.

does on a policy level. >> shannon: is he going to fire jeff sessions? with his constant public criticism and beating of the drum, is this a situation where he makes your life so miserable, you break up with him? >> that's interesting way of looking at it. do you have any stories you want to share? i think there is an element to that. what's odd about this whole process is donald trump made his name to people across the country. by doing exactly what what he's doing right now and saying, you're fired.

it's unclear whether he's doing that to punish jeff sessions or if he's looking to and the mueller investigation. this is a guy whose projected strength, and doesn't take grief from anybody. he has this style of attacks on jeff sessions that are really frustrating republicans on capitol hill. it will make it harder for him to recruit new people to serve on his administration. donald trump is doing this to him? >> shannon: mr. trump thought he could say anything and get away with it and most often he did. he's not a one-man show.

he needs allies to govern. this is a peril to his presidency. when jeff sessions came out of the woodwork and voiced support to trump early on, that was a big branch for jeff sessions to step out on as a center. senator . do you think he put his political life out on the line for him? >> he chose donald trump and rallied for donald trump. he endorsed him, and donald trump praised donald trump.
