is going to linger and bring perhaps epic rainfall, rainfall we have never seen before from a tropical system. hurricane warnings up, tropical storm warnings toward the galveston area. winds in excess of 100 mph for a duration of hours and the reason we have seen rapid intensification from a tropical storm to hurricane and perhaps to a major hurricane is because there is nothing in its way. the water is like bath water in the gulf of mexico and what these storms need to fuel themselves as they get stronger is the warm temperatures of the gulf of mexico and the upper-level winds in the atmosphere are helping this storm to breeze. the tropical models are in consensus, it is going to make landfall whether it is a 2 or three doesn't matter. the legacy is going to be the flooding because watch what happens to these computer models, making landfall and then we are not sure where it goes
2:02 am
because there is no steering. it is going to remain perhaps offshore and to bring incredible amounts of rain to areas that just can't take the rainfall so here is the euro models, one of our forecast models we look at, 41 inches of rainfall. that is unprecedented along the coast and that is why right now our prayers are needed for our friends in texas, not only the fact we have a hurricane but the system is going to last well into next week and be a torrential rainmaker. >> did i hear someone say this is the anniversary to the week of katrina? >> university of andrew, category 5 hurricane, one of only three that is ever hit the us. yesterday was the 25th anniversary. >> people need to listen.
