texas, heading this way. the storm so concerning that people here in this area have gotten out. the reason people left a couple days ago in some cases was the video and pictures coming out of the caribbean in the last couple times. every time we see the new video, it's unbelievable the destruction taking place. right now in fact the destruction taking place in turks and caicos, we expect a video from there tomorrow morning when the sun comes up. everybody is worried about that island area, basically because there are no mountains there as well.ta it very flat. the storm surge, winds, the massive storm heading over it as we speak. a strong concern for so many people. if you're on the roads here today, roughly a day and a half before irma is expected to reach the florida keys, in key largo, the roads were empty. people were already gone. there's a few still locals around. gas lines, if you can find a gas station open, are long, and a lot of gas choices are down to one as people try to do we'll be

right back this keep the fuel in their car. they locals that did stay are waiting till the last minute in some cases to evacuate. people we've met on and on and on here for andrew 25 years ago, that did so much part of destruction in this part of the country, they rode it out then. they're not going to ride it out now. the path is coming up the middle of florida, the bottom. the original track was thought to be the east of florida. now it seems the west may get it just as hard as the east. there's a lot off concern here n florida. rick scott has ordered all emergency services basically to go, i mean to get ready, because this thing is going to be a massive storm hitting this state. a four most people believe at this point. we've seen emergency services here, not far from where we're, key largo, the northernmost key.

by tomorrow night at this time we'll be feeling the wind. >> thanks, adam. i love the sign behind you. chief meteorologist rick reichmuth joins us. rick? >> georgia, west georgia, to get out of the path. the storm, as adam was just saying, battering turks and caicos for the last six hours. what we saw yesterday from the virgin islands, the lesser antilles, as well as the turks and caicos, the strongest storm in that area at a category five making a direct impact there. all the models are doing the same thing. this hard right turn, we can't say exactly where it's going to go. something happened this afternoon. everything had been trending toward the east. then this really reliable model took a being jog toward the west. that made the national hurricane

center adjust the cone a little bit toward the west. the point is, when you see one run like that, don't like to see it. it could jog back again. bottom line, everybody in south florida, you got to watch this. if this ended up happening we would probably watch hurricane-force winds extend the length of the peninsula. force force winds extend out 70 miles from center, both sides. that's about 140 miles. this right here is 90-100 miles wide in south florida, probably splitting it with hurricane-force winds across the begin peninsula. here's what else is going tha g. it's already a cat five. the water is incredibly warm.er watch what happens over the next 36 hours. the storm gets better organized, at least according to this one simulation. based off the water temperature here, and the situation that's happening with the storm, in

fact the pressure has continued to drop again this afternoon, we could be watching this still maintain a very strong storm. so we always say don't look at the center of the storm. weay do kind of want to point it out a little bit, if it goes around the key largo area, everywhere to thehe right of ths we'd be dealing with a devastating flood situation as well as those winds. we were kind of hoping it would go farther to east. that's still a possibility. a little bit too early still to tell. we won't be able to say the exact path, guys, until saturday and we finally that right-hand turn. greg, one last thing to tell you. yesterday irma wentrm through te part of the lesser an till les as a cat five storm. this is potentially another major hurricane, hurricane jose,

that he's not really a conservative. do theyn have a reason to be upset? >> partly, yes. he wants to clear the debt to do other things he wants to do. i actually don't think you don't need debt ceilings anymore, because it always gets raised. they're supposed to be used in order to cut spending. that's what the republicans actually wanted to do. thato wasn't going to happen wn you have the hurricane relief happening at the same time. so i can see the frustration, though, because it was the treasury secretary that wanted the 18 months, and president trump didn't make a deal. he just took the first offer that was made. so three months from now, we'll be sitting back here. the reason i think there's also frustration, if you go in a plan, because you have the leverage against your opponent, you given that away, if the most thing is tax reform, you want that done before december, you have to another debt ceiling

fight in december and it muddies the waters. >> speaking of muddy waters, jesse, don't you think, though, that if he had gotten bog down in this sort of thing it would look bad, and it may have been bad, because you're dealing with some serious devastation, and maybe saying, like, i'll deal with this now, i trust you later that we'll deal in good faith. >> i agree. trump got trapped this summer, and harvey gave him an escape hatch. he hit bottom in charlottesville, but he got a lifeline with harvey, because he recognized the spirit of unity that came out of texas and he seized on it and capitalized on it. he is a deal-maker. you say the president is like the weather, where he's swirling, always around. he's not i a idealogue. he goes into the debt ceiling battle, sides are dug in. he says, you know what, listen, we're not going to do this. he reaches across the aisle,

shakes hands with the democrats, a signal to the republicans toin say, you know what, you better get your act together because i'm going to wheel and deal and triangulate. the republicans always lose on debt ceiling fights. they always cave. he did i it early and takes the hit. he gets rid of harvey, gets the money out there, he funds the military, and the governmentil keeps spending. at the same time thep next three months he can gond out and sell tax reform. what it does, it sets a huge intense showdown in december where you have daca, you have the wall funding. you even have obamacare fix. you have tax reform. that's going to be a huge fight. >> can i be honest? let's be honest. >> yeah. >> if mcconnell and ryan had come in to the meeting and said, you know what, we think we should take the deal that the first offer that pelosi and schumer are offering, then what would the trump supporters have said? they would have said, oh, they're the weak ones. this is why the debate isth frustrating, because you can defend this on either side, but

because i think president trump is frustrated at their failure to get things like healthcare reform done. to be fair, this was not a deal, right? we talk about the art of the deal. this is not the art of the deal. this is the art of the giveaway. he give democrats everything they wanted. and went to north dakota saying he w won by 36 points, brought heidi hikamp out. you threw us a lifeline. this is the golden ticket. they'll use this in campaigns. >> and she'll lose to a republican the next election. i think he accomplishes both goals. >> i think bipartisanship we need more of it. i don't blame him for wanting to reach across the aisle. there's room for that with tax reform. i think that's the reason people electedm. him, they wanted something different. that being said, analyst not a deal. he could have done better. this was a giveaway.

three-month raise to the debt ceiling was unworkable. then almost moments later at the meeting at the white house the president does just the opposite, because as you were noting, the president believes it's smart to clear brush,an roadblocks, and get on to taxes andd other issues he wants in te agenda. speaker ryan before the dinner was trying to downplay the tension in an interview with martha mccallum. watch. >> the word was that you were furious. >> no, i wasn't furious. i have a belief on debt issues that we should, for the credit markets, have longevity on these things, but i completely understand why he was doing what he was doing. you expect the president to talk tooi other party. isn't it natural that a president should be speaking with leadership of the other parties? >> he wants to patch things up, but later in the interview it's interesting the speaker seemed to not like the idea the president isea talking about now about maybe ending the debt ceiling votes altogether so you don't rattle the credit market.
