7:03 am
we were yesterday he said already he stayed behind. the winds are blowing at about 35 we don't know exactly where that is. today however the situation here. they are predicting the officials here. the florida power and light you will hear a lot about that. you will hear them still working across town before they really start and get bad here. upwards of 9 million people will do that. why that is most of them is on pulls up top. they are bracing for what they can.

business or at least we will try to ruin your business until consumers not to shop at your source anymore if you're doing this. what about airlines. they have the built in algorithms that demand peaks. in this case out of the state. the price will go up rather dramatically as multiple people are inquiring about flights it might be more mathematically driven. they were eye-popping prices. what you do in the case. we had been working very closely with the airlines delta and american i have them on speed dial and united and jetblue. how they got around that to help us they had been capping their prices american capped all outgoing flights. delta was 399.
7:11 am
they have waived pet fees. some of them at my request they waived change piece. baggage fees. all of the airlines are working together. they are capping at those prices so if you are seen it on a website called airline directly if they can get their out here. they well. a lot of our air the ports are closed. the tampa airport is still open until tonight. if you can drive to northern florida and get on the plane. they been incredible partners that is is what it is about. helping your fellow human beings. thank you very much. be safe. be well. a beautiful state of florida. in the biggest evacuation in american history. this is the bigger point that this is going to affect upwards of 50 million americans. especially if you buy the latest path.

it bears reading here that the irma's path is not just threatening florida for the immediate time and remember the sink throughout its duration to indian in illinois. that immediate threat is something that is that's keeping the attention of our chief meteorologist. don't forget that. especially in georgia. i will show you that just now. they've a hurricane warning. obviously all of south florida. that makes sense just to the north of daytona beach.
7:16 am
in the hurricane watch all the way up towards tifton georgia over towards waycross. the tropical storm watch is in effect. this extends far to the north and that's because the center of the storm if it moves to the west gets now looking more and more likely over water longer it will take longer for that to dissipate. take a look at the raider. you can to see the center of the storm moving down here. obviously the rain already moving across the keys. anywhere to the south of alligator alley already dealing with the rain and the winds dealing with that. for the last 12 hours now the storm has been moving here across the cuban coastline and that has done a favor for us in the u.s. and that has weakened it from the hundred 55-mile-per-hour store and made landfall here as a cat5 storm in cuba and it's has been hugging the coast. it weakens the structure of a little bit. that said is about to get back
7:17 am
over the water. and move over really warm water. there seemed that we do expect to see increases. if it goes further towards the west. it can have more times throughout the water. tonight into hurricane range. in by tomorrow morning key west hundred 15. miami 79. you get the idea. 10:00 a.m. sunday morning. hurricane force winds. and then by tomorrow evening we have hurricane force winds and hundred 22 miles per hour. over 12 hours that you've got winds here in that category two or three wind strength. got up monday morning tampa, 104. hurricane force winds up in jacksonville. a prolonged storm.
7:18 am
a long time at least the next two days and the further west it goes is really bad news for the west coast of florida. as you pointed out earlier it is such a big storm. saturday is a moot point. everybody in florida's can have hurricane force winds with this. who gets the hundred 30 and hundred 40. that also doesn't matter. it's can have a much bigger impact. south carolina governor ordering . what rick is reporting. we had ordered the mandatory evacuation of our coastal and
7:19 am
barrier islands. those are the islands that they have. a little ways inland. we expect the storm surge to be four to 6 feet above normal. a lot of low lying lands. the evacuation there of those islands and of course we have encouraged people that live there. if they have any concern at all talk to local law enforcement and get on out. how do you deal with people in the affective states including those in florida the ones who won't leave and just refuse question mark.
7:20 am
>> we have the power and south carolina to get them and to grab him and make them leave because we don't have the capacity we are considering all of the facts and all of the information we can get from every source very carefully. it's a wonderful system. we give them our best judgment of what can happen if we tell them to leave they need to leave. at some point they are on their own because we will not be able to go back in there. maybe extreme west or whatever. where are they going. they are coming up and we saw a lot of people from florida coming up. it was the north south road.
7:21 am
the evacuation order at 8:00 this morning. we have managed with the traffic very well. if any vehicles that are disabled. they have signage up to show people where gas is. we have a hurricane route clearly marked with the blue sign. with a hurricane symbol and we ask people if they have concerns about price gouging we have seen very little price gouging. very little and also if you need information about gas and routes you can call 855467-2368
7:22 am
neil, we have a massive team out there. we had been practicing this thing we had been rehearsing it. a lot of great success so far and it seems to be going very well. the latest from the magic kingdom was affected also.

there up to 50 million americans in the path of the storm. fingers crossed it stops there. the cost for everyone in the country whether you're in the path of the singer or not.
7:26 am
two more on irma's tail. the u.s. economy and certainly the regional economies are to feel for that. hard to predict. disney world they are closing their theme parks for only the fifth time ever. the park closure alone at $90 million. think of the disney cruise lines. they won't be sailing. use the lost business. and retailers with significant exposure in florida. descending through. it will recover if they don't see too much damage. there is a note that said a category five storm that will cost florida hundred $30 billion in damage.
7:27 am
orange prices. we've seen them spike. if you look at tomatoes and cucumbers as well. we already know what harvey did to gas prices. the key energy industry. then for structure their still recovering. harvey could cost hundred $90 billion in damage that would save 1% off of national gdp. hundred $60 billion. this is what we know about harvey so far. i hundred 85,000 homes. up to 1 million vehicles damaged if not destroyed. since irma is a striking two weeks later fema is burning through cash at a rate of $9 million an hour. the summer of 2017 will be down in history. we will leave that there.
7:28 am
lauren you very much. as lauren pointed out orlando as a latest to calculate what they have to did get ready for the monster. it is a rare time where disney is shutting down operations it officially closed beach yesterday. universal and i could go on and on. right in the neck of the woods. gary, this is obviously a storm and i have entertainment powerhouse is not looking around. in clearing out. safety first. and the rest of the theme parks that are closing quickly. it's all going to be closed until monday. could you just don't know what could happen also jean was
7:29 am
heading east into the atlantic and then did a lip back towards orlando. so anything is possible with these things. people are digging thinking about that. the heart of this thing. florida is not very wide say. it's a bit of a different story. it seems like every major city in florida is going to be impacted one way or another. except for alaska. 2.5million homes are in the hazard zone. and unfortunately only 42% are covered with the flood insurance. there is basically an uninsured economic loss situation a big time here. that something to watch very closely. the numbers that you can ask a
7:30 am
start thinking about could be a humongous for the economy here. the great news is the state is always come back as a magnet for big visitors as well is people coming to live here. once we get past this. a big bill that if there is a lot of destruction we will come back and will come back better than ever. 13million more floridians consent and there is a great many who you don't remember a severe storm. so does that added to a sense of complacency are what we don't need to worry about. look at horton how much orlando has built up in that time. what you think. people know when i see.
