tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class and at the expense of growth. now they're saying yesterday they're not going to give any tax breaks to the higher end. we'll see when we see it in writing. that was really news to me because it is basically in their dna to give tax cuts to the high end and have trickle-down economics. better jobs, better paychex, better future and when the middle class has more confidence, they consume into the economy for greater jobs. this is an important standard for us to have. growth -- i tell everybody -- >> house speaker nancy pelosi they're addressing the two issues just a couple of minutes ago talking about tax cuts, the

federal aid and additional assistance. we have seen so much destruction, leland, on the ground in terms of the amount of stuff that needs to be thrown away. >> leland: it's an enormous amount that needs to be cleared away, especially down in the florida keys and enormous amounts of supplies that need to be brought in. you can see the president was shaking hands with some of the coast guard helicopter crews and he talked throughout this storm and harvey as well about how brave some of these coast guard rescue crews are that were flying in to pull people off of rooftops, ships, throughout both of these hurricanes and he talked about how the coast guard had handled themselves and how the brightness of these crews was a great credit to the u.s. military. he's meeting with these various first responders. he's in fort myers at the airport now and then he's going to head to marine one to naples, florida, which was admittedly harder hit than fort myers, but

nowhere near the level of the florida keys where there was that absolute destruction and as we've always heard during these presidential visits, there's a balance. go to places where things are bad, but not where they are so bad that you impede the rescue effort is going on. >> melissa: he does this as we have this developing story that's going on in hollywood, florida, where we had that home for the elderly that they found dead bodies and they still don't know, that's turned into a criminal investigation. they don't know exactly what happened there, but the death toll is up to 8 in that situation. very scary. they have a criminal investigation going on. they're going to check all the other nursing homes in the area as well and he is aware of that situation and that's something that's terrifying, just the loss of life and the aftermath of people who are struggling for supplies. may be generators that are not

with people who are willing to sit down and work with him and he tried to work with republicans and that didn't happen, but how far can he go before he alienates the people who brought him into office? >> the president's base is extremely loyal to him, there is no question about that, but i do think this is a short because i've read that the president's advisors are big readers of greek military history and one of the first lessons of greek military history is not to trust enemies bearing gifts. i don't think chuck schumer in nancy pelosi have the best interests of the president and mine. >> melissa: you do expect all of these people to have the country's best interests in mind and maybe what politics looks like as successful as a little bit of good and a little bit of pain for everyone involved.
