linking of arms by the fans in the stands at lambeau field. look at this. instead. the theme was division. some making it very clear they were not on board with players taking a knee sweeping across the nfl. protests on your own time and not our dime just one of those messages plastered on a sign there in the crowd. chant of u.s.a. also barreling through the stadium. ♪ chanting u.s.a.] tennessee titans tight end laney walker doesn't care how his fans feel about this. telling anyone upset about him taking a knee they can stay home. meantime the denver bronchos and pittsburgh steelers are planning to stand at next game which will be on sunday. as for the nfl it's now plotting a path forward days after sparking nationwide outrage. we learned commissioner roger goodell meeting with players and owners about the anthem. the packers beat the bear bear

flag. use something that people use to escape everything left is trying to force on us. rob: amen. i'm so tired of talking about politics and if i go to an nfl game and see it will be such a turn off. we have a poll the head line of it, the poll is the world going to hell in a hand basket or not? and here are some of the numbers as they have come in. heather: democrats say 70% they say yes. but back in october, of 2014, only 48 percent said yes. and then republican 42% think that it is. but, back in 2014, 71%, so the complete opposite. rob: i think that's very standard issue for when you have a particular party in power and another party out of power. but this could be a reason why. that's a very bold statement, the world is going to hell in a hand basket. this could be why. america it seems are more divided than ever on things

just like the national anthem and here is mike huckabee talking more about that. >> there are issues in this country that ought to be addressed. and there have been real problems in this country of division and racism is real, let's not kid ourselves. i think we have come a long way since i was a little kid growing up in the south. martin luther king jr. used nonviolence and he used his christian faith to shame people into realizing he was right. 40, 50 years after the civil rights 50's or 60's does anybody celebrate bull conner? are there any streets named after him? absolutely not. every city in the america and the south has a street named after martin luther king. he steed the power of getting his message across. heather: that's one of the issues that we talked about already. the original message from collin kaepernick has been taken over by this political agenda machine.

rico as they still it don't have access to food power and water. many looking for a way off of that island. thousands of people packing at dock in san juan hoping to hitch a ride on board a royal caribbean cruise ship to the united states. florida now bracing for thousands of evacuees from the island of puerto rico. acting secretary of homeland security elaine duke headed to puerto rico today to get a first-hand look at the devastation in that u.s. territory. heather: a climber is lucky to be alive after surviving not one but two incidents at this dangerous rock fall atio sim at this national park. capturing the exact moment that massive bolder fell wednesday at famous summit directly beneath him. one climber was killed and then one day later another slide in the same exact area just feet from where he was climbing. officials estimate that the second rock slide was 10 times bigger than the first. he was very lucky.

thing to do. >> right, i mean, it's a will that. i'm not going to lie. i love football. it's been an american sport. i play football. i have had dreams of playing in the nfl. not watching it is a decision i was going to make. but, hey, i think if they do the right thing, i think i will continue to watch it. rob: absolutely. let's talk about the issue here for a moment. i don't want to be pragmatic about this. there are issues like anything else, nothing is perfect, no organization is perfect there are somewhere around 1 million law enforcement officers in this country and nobody denies any group that large is going to be a few bad apples but when somebody like collin kaepernick goes to practice and wears socks that depicts police officers as pigs to lay that out and send a message as if the entire organization of law enforcement officers are violent, have an issue, how does that make you feel as a police officer, you know, that does the job right? >> well, it's absolutely

disrespectful. there is no reason to do that. there is no method to miss madness. it's flat out disrespect. what it's doing is causing police officers to be in danger. people are challenging us more. feeding off of a person who they believe is a role model. i think it's inappropriate. there is no place for that in any aspect of protest. rob: totally stereotypical, too. if you take a handful of bad eggs and generalize the entire population of police officers are this way, talk about a dangerous thing to do, you know, in a country that needs police officers. we live in new york. i cannot imagine what the neighborhoods of crown heights, brooklyn, you know, other neighborhoods brownsville what those neighborhoods would look like if you took police officers out thereof for even two days. >> right, right. it's total hypocrisy. it's total hypocrisy. these individuals, a person like collin kaepernick wants to be treated as a fair

individual. he don't want to be prejudged. doesn't want people to look at him and stereotype him. he should give the same respect to law enforcement is that we're individual people. we are people like anyone else. we go out and do a job and work hard. i will tell you what, we are just as disgusted as anybody else regarding those bad apples. rob: stereotyping, yo like i said 99% of you guys are doing a helhell of a job. heather: national anthem protests sweeping the nfl are now taking swernt stage in louisiana. a school district advising principals to follow president trump's lead to put a stop to kneeling during the anthem. carley shimkus is here now with how one high school is putting its foot down. >> good morning heather and rob. the school district? louisiana is taking a bold stance on this whole issue.

doj reads in part in the spirit of president trump's american executive order on buy american and hire american, the department of justice will not tolerate employers who discriminate against u.s. workers because of a desire to hire temporary foreign visa holders. now, this whole foods market, they said that credit card payment information may have been stolen from tap rooms, restaurants and other venues located inside of its stores. this doesn't apply to the grocery store checkout because they use a different point of sale. we don't know the scope of this data hack when it happened but law enforcement is involved. it is national coffee day today. what does that mean? that means free coffee for everybody. a lot of places giving out free coffee. cinnabon get a 12-ounce coffee. krispy kreme celebrating all day weekend. tim hortons also has deals

rob: welcome back. the trump administration continuing its crackdown on sanctuary cities. ice arresting nearly 500 illegal immigrants in a massive sweep across the country. the raid referred to as operation safe city spanned four days and stretched from los angeles all the way to new york city. illegal immigrants with criminal charges or known gang affiliations were the ones targeted. and ice did make it clear

that people from the daca program were not included in that round up. all right. a federal judge single-handedly protecting black lives matter in a court of law. ♪ chanting no justice, no peace] rob: controversy damaged caused in these protests a lot of violent protests. the judge ruling that black lives matter cannot be sued for any of the damage calling it a social movement not an entity. so they cannot be sued. this comes as the police officer filed a lawsuit after he was hurt during violent protests in baton rouge. the cop also tried to sue activist leader der ray mccommittees son. the judge ruled he was within his right to demonstrate though. heather? heather: thank you, rob. enough to to a very important topic. the white house opioid now gaining support from the first lady. >> i plan to use my platform as first lady to help as

many kids as i can i look forward to working alongside the presidential opioid commission. and people such as yourself to do all we can to teach children the dangerous consequences of drug abuse. heather: as the trump administration ramps up the fight against addiction. we want to know when doctors should prescribe opioids. when are they useful and what their he patients need to know. we are asking board certified dr. scer nellnelly. thanks for coming in this morning. >> thanks for having me. heather: where does it begin? it begins with overprescribing these medications. >> we saw a decline in 2011-2012 a decline in the prescription opiate overdoses. the root of this problem started with overprescribing. because it put it out there in the community. now what we are seeing is more illicit use.

it started with the opiate prescriptions by physicians. hit let we mentioned they are trying to take some steps now to curb that. steps they are doing working with pharmaceutical companies to find alternatives to opioid prescriptions. develop potent but nonaddictive drugs. here is a big one limit supplies to seven days vs. the 30 days. do you think that will help? >> listen, they are doing great things now. i'm on the front lines of this heather every day. i'm in the hospitals doing detox. talking to kids waking up from a coma after the overdose. we need to do things. what's happening now is doctors have to be held accountable. what's happening is this. when i prescribe an opiate. if i were to prescribe an opiate i mean to look up the patient's history and make sure no other physicians are prescribing opiates. and then prescribe with a limited amount. that puts a lot of accountability on the

doctor. puts less medicine out in the community. prevents patients that are doctor-shopping from getting excessive supply. heather: put more responsibility on the doctors in terms of knowing what drugs these patients may be taking whereas now i know the a lot of the pharmacies are supposed to be responsible for that. >> true, absolutely. heather: you personally have dealt with this. you know what you are talking about in terms of your family. >> one of the reasons i do addiction medicine and i enjoy helping people with this horrible epidemic is because i grew up with it i had a family member dealing with heroin addiction. when i was a young child, i grew um and saw how devastating it was to the family. literally breaking families apart. and on a personal level i saw the suffering and the money and the rehabs and just out horrific outcomes and i really wanted to make a difference. now it's a wonderful thing to see people get better. heather: so what is the answer ultimately? less prescriptions? nonaddictive medicine? when would someone need this? is there a reason people

would actually need these? >> that's the dilemma. that's the ethical dilemma. is right now as physicians, here's the facts. we don't have anything to treat ron nic pain. that's the problem. heather: okay. >> opioids have changed medicine for the better. there is no question about it. post surgical. when you have someone that has terminal cancer, forearm, they need opiates to help them lead better lives. people with chronic pain have hire incidents of suicide. we are there to help. unfortunately chronic pain is the problem. finding more interventional strategies is-to-treat chronic pain is important. also limiting what we are doing with the opiates. it's not meant to be a long-term solution. heather: hopefully, this is a first step to solving this issue. what the government is trying to do now. thank you so much for joining us. i appreciate it? >> thank you for having me. heather: rob? rob: important stuff. a high school principal making one thing clear,

earlier should high schools punish players who don't stand for the anthem? >> we asked and you answered. your comments have been pouring in about the high school's new rule. carley says this is more than fine with me. it used to be an honor to raise the flag at my old elementary and to take it down and fol fold it properly or to be the one to get to hold the flag for the pledge. bill says no, they should not be kicked off the team. the players who did this should also not be surprised when their amount of playing time significantly decreases. brent says i would rather see more parents sending the ultimatum that heir kids should be standing during the national anthem and if the school intervenes for forces them otherwise, then their job will be targeted at the district level. but ron writes: pathetic, when did american high school students have to be disciplined to honor the american flag or national anthem? and j.r. says you can't have it both ways. you can't claim the nfl is a private organization that has the right to govern but claim that a school does not. so a lot of interesting comments. i like what carley says.
