team you root for the people of green bay are salt of the earth. thank you for your hospitality. we got the pulse of the people. gosh, i don't think we had one person who said i agree with kneeling. we asked as many people as we could, black, white, all races, everybody said the same thing. hand over the heart. we are going to get to that throughout the course of the morning. abby: a lot of news breaking last night. pete: tom price is out as health and human services secretary. abby: price resigning on friday wide plane trips. second cabinet secretary to leave that position. todd: ellison barber joins us. >> a promise to pay back at least some of the money he used from taxpayers to fly in private jets, h.h.s. secretary tom price is as you said the first cabinet secretary to resign in the trump administration. as of midnight, this man,

don j. wright is in charge of the department. he is the acting settlement now before he served as the deputy assistant secretary. barely two weeks ago politico reported on price's use of private planes. they said he traveled on private jets at least 24 times sings may. and for most of those flights, other options were available. cheaper commercial options. the private flights reportedly cost taxpayers over $300,000. politico reporters later found that price used military planes on trips abroad and sometimes brought his wife costing taxpayers half a million dollars. price agreed to pay back roughly $51,000. with yo$51,000 but it wasn't enough. yesterday when asked about price's job president trump said he would make a decision in the night on whether or not he could keep it shortly afterwards price submitted a letter of

resignation. in order for you to move forward without further disruption, i am officially tendering my resignation as the secretary of health and human services. the president, of course, accepted that resignation. price's permanent replacement will need senate confirmation. in a statement, senator chuck chuck schumer says the next will need to follow the law when it comes to obamacare and not sabotage it. abby: not a fun week for tom price. healthcare blew up in everyone's face again and here we are talking about if your whole thing if president trump is draining the swamp and one of your secretary is out spending hundreds of thousands and one report million dollars on private planes that doesn't look so good. pete: subtext you didn't get repeal and replace and you are in charge of that and didn't get it done the other stuff is worse. abby: you never want the president saying "we'll see." not going to end well.

steelers. hanalejandro knave. i don't care what you care with obamacare or planned parenthood if you dribble a ball or pass or pitch for a living i just want to watch you play. todd: received the benefit of what the nfl went through. they were able to preemptively get out in front of it. adam silver of the nba said this is the way it's going to go down. you are going to stand for the national anthem. doesn't begin until mid october. they get nfl. you have to do it this way in other words we will lose what the nfl lost. abby: they are saying obviously no kneeling during the national anthem. they are calling it a rule. but, at the same time, putting forth some ideas for unity. locked arms we are doing this together. we can still fight this but in different ways.

pete: politically correct balance between the anthem and politics you saw the dallas cowction take a knee before and stand for the national anthem. the fans didn't like that either because again you are walking a tight rope. this is from the a.p. what mark tatum had to say. dress players fans before the anthem or a video featuring players or leaders speaking out about important issues and showing photos from past community events. hold on a second, they are not going to take a knee for the anthem but play some political social justice video on the monitor at these stadiums before the game? that's the last thing i want. i pay a bunch of money so i can be preached at by some guy who is a point guard? forget about it. i don't want that. abby: i don't have a problem with that. pete: you don't have to have a problem with it way better than kneeling for the theme. abby: would you rather watch football and no politics? i think the majority of the

country would be there we have come a long way from even last weekend. we can show a video of players out in the community trying to make a difference that is what this is all about. if you really want to make a difference, kneeling during the national anthem is not the most productive way to do that. go mentor young kids. todd: on your own time. pete: it's true so much of what you see at sports games is i went out and gave food to homeless families or read to kids. all that sort of stuff that you want to see your players do. i don't want to see political activism. i went and donated to this candidate and went out and marched with black lives matter. if that's what you want to do, great. have you every right to do so. i do want to see that on a screen during an nba basketball game? it will be very interesting to see how the teams thread this needle. i love it, separate the anthem out it shouldn't be about our american flag. that's the point the president has made. if athletes are going to start to turn into hollywood types making it all about politics it's going to be a big problem.

todd: let me ask you. this you everywhere out there on sunday at the jets doll fibs game before the bears packers game. did you get the sense that people are sick and tired with the sports combining with politics. i got that sense. you know, look, do it on your own time. you are a paid employee. that said do it on your time. i don't care if you do it. i just want to watch a game. >> what if you were a baseball fan. maybe a st. louis cardinals fan and you decided i'm going to go watch my cardinals play baseball. see it in the nfl. this is what you get in the stands at the st. louis cardinals game. look as the. this [chanting no justice, no baseball. what they want to say out there. i think this movement is dying. i think we have obviously behind closed doors. you talked to president trump about this last week. he says he feels some of the owners, the coaches are afraid of their own players. pete: if they push back, they will appear to look racist as oppose odd for standing up for the national anthem. they afraid of that. as a private stadium owned by a team they can kick these guys out and eventually they were kicked out for disrupting a fan experience. stop killing us is what the banner said. st. louis, ferguson, a lot of tensions there. again, politics. why are they in my baseball. abby: if you are not for kneeling during the national anthem that somehow you are not for equality that you don't care about the rights for all different background in this country? that's what i hate about politics. that's where we get it so wrong. todd: great move by the liberal left to try to tie racism to conservative politics. they do a great job with it. abby: let us know what you

abby: tom price offering resignation amid widespread criticism over private plane trip. pete: what does this mean for the swamp? our next guest says this is just the beginning. former presidential writer for president george w. bush ned ryun. abby: hi, ned. pete: your take on the secretary tendering resignation and the president accepting it. is this a good signal to the swamp? >> absolutely. i'm thrilled that this took place that, you know, this administration is supposed to be different. a lot of the administrations this has happened in both republican and democrat administrations where there has been significant abuses of taxpayer dollars. this administration was meant to be different i'm so different to see trump move swiftly on this. contrast this approach to tom price with bob

menendez's trial up in new jersey. we have a sitting democrat u.s. senator on trial for corruption you have barely heard a peep from the mainstream media or the democrats about him stepping down. this really is kind of a microcosm of why the american people are sick of washington, d.c. they despise it americans have lost trust in their institutions because they really have woken up to the fact that this system of government right now, what's happening in d.c., the working class has understood there is a ruling class, of republicans and democrats and special interest cronies and corrupt consultants that has rigged the system in their favor. it's working against the american people. and 2016 in many ways was about them waking up and going enough is enough. so when trump responded, and i have to assume tom price was given you either resign or i will fire you option. but the next step that trump needs to take, guys, is this. tom price's behavior was merely a symptom of the swamp disease. how president trump deals with the real root of the cause is to go through an

she talk world of social media and twitter whatever those are. fake accounts i guess and facebook. what is going on here? >> they are really blowing it out of proportion. in order to justify what they think is n. their mind absolute incapability that someone sees in donald trump will take our country into the place they want to go. they are using this story kind of cap it as russian hackers getting into our democratic process through social media when that's not true. creating a twitter ad or a facebook ad is very, very easy. anyone with access or to facebook or twitter can do that so, yes, was it unethical and was it morally wrong for russia to try to interfere in our election by doing this? yes. there is no evidence that they influenced our election through fake ads. people are smarter than that. abby: last time they went to the polls and message resonates with them and

bullings tactic says needs to stop. coordinator for campus reform.org. hannah, thanks for joining us this morning. you were on a radio program easted by tony perkins. he runs the family research council. did you an interview. must have been something about hate-related if have you been designated by the southern poverty law center as enabler of hate. what was the topic of that interview. >> the topic was about socialism. so how i got on an anti-lbgt list is beyond me. you know, southern poverty law center responded to the article i wrote by debating the semantics of which list i was on. you know, bottom line, when anyone is placed on any of southern poverty law center's list the message is clear, it's a memorandum to their supporters that i am the enemy. and they are willing and ready and working to do anything to dispose of conservatives' first amendment rights. this time i was the target.

for millions of americans this is their story, too. just look how splc labeled dr. ben carson or dr. carol swain who is an african-american professor at vanderbilt who was labeled a white smis sympathizer. there is no credibility. groups like this are reckless and irresponse cybil. labeling as does damage to their career and their safety. pete: you were targeted but not physically targeted yet. in 2012 the southern poverty law center put out a hate map which included the family research council and someone walked in there and shot up the lobby inciting that as part of the reason they were there. this targeting, what is it meant to do hannah, why do you think you are on this list and what are they trying to do to you? >> they are trying to silence me. as for years they have been trying to silence concerns. it's a bully tactic. what i find ironic of the groups they deem hateful

taxpayers over $300,000. price said he would pay back the cost of his seat, a little over $51,000. but politico found more questionable flights with price reportedly costing taxpayers half a million dollars to fly overseas on a military aircraft. >> we have a very ambitious agenda. we are trying our doggonest to accomplish the mission to make sure we could do all we could do to advance the president wants agenda. clearly, that w we are sensitivo the taxpayers. which is why i have taken the actions i have today. >> former secretary even though he says he is a good man. >> has secretary price offered to see ryan sir. >> no, but we will see what happens later on. >> hours later, price is out. the white house says he

submitted a letter of resignation. and the president accepted it. abby, todd, pete? todd: swift action. todd: ellison, thanks a lot. bring in spokesman for america first. former trump campaign manager. tom price is out. obviously the private plane wases problematic and they moved swiftly on this. did some of this have to do with repeal and replace never got over in the senate? >> that's part of it. you have to remember under this administration, unlike the previous ones, when the president makes a campaign promise he wants to see it fulfilled. we have not seen the repeal and replace done. tom price was the point on that. i don't think that's the reason the repeal and replace not being repealed is the reason tom price is out. tom price is out because he wasted taxpayer money and the president has said it will not be toler rate offed. he spends taxpayer money like it is his own. we have seen him renegotiate things tom and time again. if a cabinet member or any other member of this administration is going to waste taxpayer money, they

are not going to have a place in the government anymore. abby: let's talk about tax reform. that is on everyone's minds, including the president. seeing him out there campaigning for tax reform. you feel the enthusiasm. this is something that he understands and something he wants so badly to get done. we are already hearing criticism though from some republicans, including peter king about ending deductions for state and local income taxes. how do you see this playing out. president has made this clear republicans can't get their act together and get this done. i'm going to gowork with the democrats. >> look, i like pete king. he is a good man. has he done a good job representing the people in new york. the number one priority of this administration has been and continues to be tax reform. it is something the campaign talked about. something the president-elect talked about and something the president has talked about. we are taking seven tax brackets and moving it down to three. reduce the corporate tax 35 down to 20. puts us much more competitive in the global marketplace. make sure the middle class

gets tax cut and deduction. simplify the tax code and i understand those states that have big tax brackets so can you deduct state and local taxes. here in migrate state of new hampshire we don't have income tax. we don't have a sales tax. we lead the nation in that. i understand where those big states are concerned. but, look, here's the bottom line. you have to do what's right for the entire country. what the president has said and i firmly believe this. tax reform has to be accomplished quickly. if it doesn't, i think you will see serious repercussions at the balance box for republicans. pete: let me ask you this, do you think president trump will work across the aisle with democrats. people like joe manchin who denktedly have a sense as to more conservative leanings if you will? >> it's not just joe manchin. he is one of many. heidi heitcamp from north dakota. you have a number of members in the democratic party who understand not only are they up for re-election next year, more importantly, this the is right thing to do for america. this is going to turbo

charge the economy. this is going to stop us at growing at 1% where we were in the obama administration. we are already growing 3.1, 3.2 in the last quarter. once this tax cut goes into effect growing at 4 and 5%. means we are reducing our deficit. middle class america has more money, job creation, going to stimulate the economy. that's not just good for republicans it's. abby: a lot of good stuff in there. turn the framework into legislation. like making sausage. not pretty the way it's made hopefully come up with something. pete: corey, not just democrats resisting this president it's the establishment to include establishment republicans and rush limbaugh had a theory on his radio show yesterday that would he want to play. he said, you know, it's the establishment underneath it all that doesn't want him to succeed. take a listen. >> trump would never be admitted in this club no matter what he did. these guys have been running the country. its donors, its think tanks,

whole washington media and establishment. trump is an outsider. they have been managing the country, ruling the country for how many ever decades. they can't afford for an outsider neofite to come in and fix things in months in a year, show it can be done. show that what they say can't be done can be done. >> that was rush limbaugh on sean hannity's program. do they want him to fail and dolls that even include republicans who could have done these things before? >> if you look at it, i think a number of members of the congress, whether those are senators or congressman, think that they should be the president of the united states and not donald trump. a lot of them as you remember during the campaign didn't support the campaign. donald trump ran as the outsider. as the businessman who is going to come in and change washington and that's what he is doing. the american people are behind him and that's the most important thing. and, look, for 30 years, washington, d.c. has lied to the american people. they told us everything was great. and all they have done is kick the can down the road. they have continued to

increase our national debt. we haven't gotten the promises out of them that they have made. and now donald trump is holding them accountable. what he said is republican fuss are not willing to do it, i will work across the aisle. i will get tax reform done. i will build a wall. it is what i have pledged to the american people and get done in this first term of the administration. abby: what happens when they need him a year from now in 2018 elections a lot of those states running. in the president is far better liked than they are. >> in ohio alone right now, i looked at the latest poll in ohio. donald trump's favorability rating at least among republicans is 87%. he outpaces everybody, including governor kasich is who nowhere close. if you look at competitive cycle next year in ohio for u.s. senate race with sherrod brown who has been an o obstacle to the president's agenda you will ask candidates come in and campaign for him because he won ohio by 9 points. abby: they will want air force 1 landing in their state. pete: wake um good policy

bodies. when people -- when the president says wiped out. the southeast part of the island is gone. and when i say gone, i don't mean that there are building down and people are hurt. i mean there are towns that are gone. and you are starting to see some really weird and awkward stuff happening here from kind of a breakdown in things. we're 8 or 9 days post storm. last night we had two gentleman that were in from a town from the mountains a town of 46,000 people blocked behind a mudslide that has received until yesterday nothing. and seeing -- i don't know why the media -- i don't want to say black out. but the stories we have heard people back in the states haven't heard. i know there were 8 police officers buried here yesterday. and i don't think that story has made it out either. pete: curt, you are there. you say nothing has been done in certain places because it's really hard to reach them. you are here to do something though. tell us why you are on the ground and what you are up

to. >> same reasonable i was on the ground in texas and florida. these are americans. if this were texas there would be 55,000 soldiers sitting on this island right now. i have talked to politicians in both states and also the governor of puerto rico and multiple people here all have said and this is very awkward media situation. all have said that the president did everything in a pace that they have never seen before as far as him releasing money and releasing assets into these theaters. the execution on the ground has been horrifying in some cases. there are people -- the soldiers and i think some of the personnel are doing everything they can do, but there is something happening here from an outside looking in perspective that is just -- i have seen the best and worst of humanity in the last 48 to 72 hours. it's terrifying. todd: if people want to help through your organization and through what you are doing, how can they go about

doing that? >> >> we have an operation on facebook page we organize -- we have organized about 45 or 50 semis nationwide to get food, water, and supplies to our places in tampa and to participate in the air bridge down here. the challenge now is that yesterday at some point the airport was shut down. and, you know, we arrived here about 72, 96 hours ago. multiple thousands of people at the airport. and apparently that number has only grown in the last four to five days. the only planes i saw leaving yesterday flying in or out are private jets and a couple very large tankers that were leaving, coming and leaving. the tankers that came in yesterday came in with people and not goods. abby: can you heart emotion in your voice. i can't imagine being there on the ground and seeing what people there are continuing to go through. thank you for being with us and giving us your

questions from our local media about what we do in the parish concerning the situation so that led to us sending out a press release requiring our student athletes and those in other organizations that are voluntary to stand for our national anthem. todd: now you are a public school so this statement has drawn, of course, predictably criticism from the highest of quarters including the aclu. they said. this they tweeted this yesterday saying the supreme court ruled that students don't have to stand for the pledge of allegiance. that goes for the national anthem on the ball field as well. so what do you say to the aclu when you say you can't tell kids, young student athletes that they should respect their country? >> well, we disagree with that we believe that when a student is involved in an extracurricular activity that is not required by the school and football,

baseball, basketball, tennis. any other organization is strictly voluntary. strictly voluntary. we believe if we have a set of rules, policies or directives that they follow that and if they can't do that, they simply don't have to be a part of that organization. we certainly understand.ed to. pete: that makes sense to me you can't volunteer whether you go to school or not. you do get to choose whether you play a sport or not. to other superintendents, this seems like a layup. this makes sense. why are we not seeing many other superintendents take this kind of a stand? >> well, it's just really amazing to me. never in my wildest imagination would i have thought that actually requiring our student athletes to stand for something so reverent as our national anthem would be a national issue. pete: what does it say about our country sir?

what does it say about our country right now? >> it's almost saddening to be honest with you. because we need to understand that within the boundaries of bossier parish we have the air force base. we have the second bomb wing, the mighty 8th air force and global strike command. we have many veterans that live in our community. and it's a very patriotic area. and we stand, you know, for that flag. we stand for our country. we stand for our veterans. sometimes i don't feel like we feel like we are very close to this situation. we almost feel like that we're an iron bubble, but, yet, it can penetrate. we have had so many people that have come back that are close by and have come back without arms. they have come back without legs. even in caskets and they certainly can't speak for themselves.

it's such a we have to realize some people making 30 to $40,000 a year are there protecting the very liberties that we have over here that we seem to take for granted. whizzing of that bullet by their head. if they saw their family members come in without an arm or a limb, i think that they may be singing a different tune and it may sound a lot like the national anthem. todd: so well said. i have heard that whizzing on a bullet on a battlefield myself. i can tell you your words are powerful. the kids at bosh parish are. >> thank you. i appreciate it. pete: amazing patriotism after someone walked up to a neighbor's front door and set their american flag on fire. amazing. first lady michelle michigan oba

abby: this week former first lady michelle obama slammed females saying any woman to voted against hillary clinton voted against their own voice. what does it mean for us as women that we look at those two candidates as women and many of us said that guy, is he better for me. his voice is more true to me. that to me, that just says you don't like your voice. you like the things you are told to like. a lot to unravel there. our panel of politically active moms. good to have you here. different background and different perspectives most importantly all moms. just quickly, can any of you raise your hand that voted for president trump? >> oh, a few of you. okay. kim, i will start with you. you are a mother of one. you feel like that vote was against your own voice? >> i'm a political consultant. and i tell every single woman that i work with if you are running because you are a woman, you are going to lose. and i tell every guy that i work with if you are running against a woman that is equally as looney to try to

portray them on that. the bottom line is it's the issues. i'm a mom but i'm also a business owner. i'm a, you know, i'm a republican. but i have lots of interests in getting my taxes cut and a better economy and good schools for my daughter. you know, that's what matters to me. not that there is a woman. that, you know, madeleine albright decided to, you know, scold women when she was helping hillary clinton, if anybody knows women. they realize they don't like to be scolded. abby: they also don't like to be told what to do. that's for sure. cathy, part of that got me women that said trump is better for me. you like the things you are told to like. basically saying anyone who voted for trump were told to do that. what's your response. >> apparently the left still does not get it this election has never been about ovaries. >> thank you. >> i said it then and can i say it today. as women we can speak beyond our uteruses. and what this election was about then and continues to

be about today is what kind of america do we want and by extension what kind of world do we want to live in and raise up the next generation. president trump and hillary clinton whether offering two completely different versions of america. and just within the last nine months, we have faced some very formidable challenges from sir gassing its own people to north korea's nuclear ambitions to injecting porous border. none of those issues are women issues. they are american issues. that is how i voted. abby: kish sharks i see you have a lot you want to say there. >> first of all, i agree with michelle obama. i believe having a voice is very important. unfortunately a lot of women do not even recognize their voice. i'm raising a daughter who is 14 years old. and if you ask her right now what do you have? she will say a voice. why would any woman feel that a man who on phis women who says it's okay to grab a woman by her genitalia want that person to be their

leader? it is important. it's about equality and females have to have the same opportunities as males. and i feel like if a president does not value a woman like he values a man, we're losing in that ability to have equal opportunity. abby: all right, doctor, i want you to get in here. you didn't support trump but have you an interesting perspective. >> i'm a proud hillary supporter did i not vote for trump. i see a lot of republican women in practice. they want their own voice. so they do want their own voice. they want equal pay. they want access to birth control. many of them quietly want access to abortion. that type of thing. so i tend to agree with what michelle obama said. but then i see my republican patients' point of view about how they want some things but not other things. at love them are very, very, very concerned about their taxes. i tend not to be one issue voter. i look at the broad strokes of everything. abby: very independent thinkers on their own. interesting when you hear

these comments and you think, about you know, 8 years ago and michelle obama's husband was running against hillary clinton at the time. i imagine at that point who she voted for i would guess it was not for hillary clinton it walls for her husband. >> i'm sure she did. abby, elections are about policies. and identity politics is always playing a role for some reason. people think that because you're black you are supposed to vote democrat. because you are a woman you are supposed to vote for a woman. it's about policies. and i think hillary clinton -- i mean michelle obama has insulted over 40% of the women who did vote for president trump. i find her comments were very condescending. american women, men, we are concerned about the forgotten men and women. we want lower taxes. we want good national security. immigration reform. those are the issues that americans voted for in favor of president trump. abby: issues that moms best care about. they care about their kids and grand kids and future. >> correct.

i think what's important, too, to remember is what she said how about the 4eu7 is i? the left, they are always advocating for gender neutrality. and, yet, we're supposed to vote by gender? if you can continue on and listen to what or read actually what she actually spoke at the convention, she also referred to herself as the former first spouse. instead of referring to herself as the former first lady. she wanted to get it out there that she is gender neutral and that's important and that's going to be so to speak the wave of the future. so hypocritical. i think frankly most women that heard her statement they understand this is just another hypocritical thing from the left and double standard. >> i admire michelle obama as a mom. the days of feminism is over. this week a woman graduated from the basic school from quantico. she is the first marine qualified to lead an

infantry platoon. abby: how powerful is that? >> so great. abby: actions speak so much louder. >> i don't know her name and sure don't know her voice. i would never presume to speak for that young woman that officer's voice. i think we should all have our own voices. abby: amen. i will give you the last word here. >> i think we all have to take a step back and say that is michelle obama. of course, she is a democrat. she is going to say she opposes donald trump and we all should. i don't see anything shocking about what she said. i think we have to go back to the issue of policy. it has been nine months. what policies has president trump put forward to benefit women? that's the question. and to benefit all of us? and you can look down the line at some of these policies, including the inability of republicans to repeal and replace obamacare has a huge impact on women. there is a policy perspective here that we have to look at and that's missing when we have conversations and that's why i didn't want michelle obama to come out because it clouds a really important message about policy.

abby: bracing for more rain as hurricane recovery efforts underway. president trump sending 1400 additional national guard troops this weekend. bringing the total to 6,000. todd: 101st airborne division on the island transporting medical islands to key hospitals in need. rick reichmuth is keeping an eye on the weather in that area. rick, what can they expect? rick: so, there is more rain coming this he could would. keep in mind we are still in hurricane season goes to the end of november. that means environmental conditions are favorable for tropical weather. we have storms across the eastern part of the caribbean. here is puerto rico. where you a see cloud cover that's moisture moving in towards the puerto rico area. probably we will see kind of a sveda pred 1 to 2 inches. but a few spots, maybe some isolated 4 to 6 inches of rain. that will cause some localized flooding. but keep in mind because everything is so saturated, the ground is saturated, a lot of the reservoirs are completely full or busting out of their banks, this is going to cause some problems as well as they are trying to get in to bring any kind

of relief efforts. also tell threw is another system we are watching off the coast of florida. potential for some kind of tropical development here. i don't think we will see anything that will be a very strong storm. we will see a lot of moisture coming in here. especially in towards north florida and jacksonville area we could be seeing some spots 6 to 8 inches of rain as well. that is certainly problematic. guys? abby: pete, let's toss it over to you. pete: thanks, guys. have you seen nfl anthem protest. some players say they are taking a knee to try to raise awareness of police violence against black men. the author of the war on cops heather mcdonald joins us now. also a fellow at the manhattan institute just wrote an op-ed on this topic in the "new york post." thank you for joining us this morning. >> my pleasure. pete: you say the real story here there is a different story to be told about black homicide rates. >> it's the opposite story than the public thinks it knows from black lives matter. the greatest safety that

comes to the blacks is from the police. and the police now are backing off thanks to the black lives matter protest and black lives are being taken by criminals. not the police. pete: you call it the ferguson effect. what do you mean by that? >> well, after the michael brown shooting in ferguson, missouri, in august 2014, a narrative took hold of the national mainstream media that said we're living through an epidemic of racially biased police shootings of blacks, and there was incessant attacks on the police. cops backed off of the type of discretionary proactive policing that prevents crime under this incessant accusation that they were racist and criminals became emboldened. since 2014, there has been a 20% increase in our homicide rate. an additional 900 black males were killed in 2015 compared to the previous year. last year another additional

900 black males were killed. pete: as is the case work. pew research released this in january saying to your point, 72% of the nation's officers are less willing to stop and question suspicious persons. so you are saying maybe it's 2:00 a.m. on a street corner. normally a cop would say hey, why are you loitering on a street corner. now they would just drive by. >> purely discretionary. cops continue to run to 911 calls. the things that make criminals actually not engage in crime, they don't have to do that. and when the elites are telling them they are racist for doing so, of course they are going to get the message. the victims are the law abiding residents who beg for more police protection. pete: also this narrative always unarmed black men that "the washington post" put out some statistics about 2016 saying this. the police fatally shot 233 blacks, majority armed and

dangerous. paper categorized only 16 of those 233 as unarmed. so, is this idea that it's just -- we're gunning down unarmed black men as opposed to hey, a police officer walks into uncertain situation where they there may or may not be a weapon and has to make a last-minute call. >> even those in armed cases are often somebody is trying to grab an officer's gun. that's 16 allegedly unarmed. let's really take that with a grain of salt out of nearly 8,000 black deaths by black criminals. in fact, a police officer is 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than unarmed black male is to be killed by a cop. pete: heather, have you been approached by any nfl players who have taken a neenchts unfortunately the facts don't matter in this debate it's all about politics. pete: she is the person to talk to. thanks for joining us. >> thank you, pete. pete: coming up, geraldo

somebody went secretly. >> you sore happy because you are eating a sausage. abby: we need that some big news coming out of washington. tom price is out as health and human services secretary. price resigning on friday following the widespread criticism plane trips. pete: ellison barber joins us from d.c. with the details. >> price is out of a job after days of public scrutiny and internal investigation. apologies on his part and then a promise to pay back at least some of the money he used to fly in private jets. less than two weeks ago politico reported on the now former secretary's use of private planes. they said he traveled on private jets at least 24 times since may, costing taxpayers over $300,000. and for most of those flights, there were other cheaper commercial options available. price said he would pay back

the coors of his seat around $52,000 but politico found even more questionable flights with price reportedly costing taxpayers half a million dollars because he flew in a military aircraft to europe and asia. it was official business but past hhs secretaries took similar trips and usually flew commercial. president trump called price a good man but said more than once he was disappointed. here is the president yesterday. >> has secretary price offered to resign, sir? >> no we will accepted it this man, don wright is, now the acting secretary of hhs. he was the deputy assistant secretary. there are also reportedly new rules, a memo sent out by white house budget director mick mulvaney says white house chief of staff john kelly needs to approve travel before anyone gets on a government or chartered

plane. pete, abby, todd? pete: thanks, ellison. certainly a strong statement for the white house. we were sent here for a job. abby: someone in your administration spending over a million dollars private planes to get to meetings that you have to go to. i think you said a really strong statement from the president to say i campaigned against the swamp. this is exactly what we don't need in washington. pete: this media is going to pick anything they can pick at. be locked even tighter. in this case they stumbled on this and here have you it. abby: president talking about. so things he loves to talk about. tax reform. he is very passionate about also the american flag and this whole controversy with the nfl and kneeling for the national anthem. he took some time yesterday in washington, d.c. to talk about why he loves the american flag and what it means to be an american today. we want every american to know the dignity of work, the pride, the pride, the beautiful pride getting a

paycheck. the satisfaction of being told that was a job well done. we want every parent to be able to care for their children. and we want every child to know a home filled with love and a community filled with hope. that is the america we see when we look at our american flag that hangs in all of our factories, sales our, sailsr our oceans. we love our american flag. [applause] the soul of a country is found in the people who make it a home. todd: it's clear the nfl got politicized now other sports which, let's face it, are criticized as well. trying to step out in front of the problem in some instances, in other instances trying to have their cake and eat it, too. the nba right now is trying to do exactly that on the one hand they sent out a memo from adam silver saying that players must stand for the national anthem.

so they are trying to get out in front of this, trying to avoid the financial problems. the nfl is running into. then there is a but. i will let pete take the but. pete: they also said they are going to suggest porvel unity montages the unity can do instead of taking a knee. mark tatum part of the statement they sent out to the teams. recommended an address player or coach to fans before the anthem or video featuring fans or community leaders featuring photos from past community events. have you been to sports games, basketball games. usually home game turn the lights off and the screen. last thing i want is a political message at my game of something that is controversial so you are not kneeling for the national anthem but have you got a player telling me -- talking to me about social justice? that's not going to bode well either. abby: certain i green bay packers locking arms in unity. the president said this is something that he can get

behind. what we're talking about here is, you know, people fighting for equality. and what they say is social injustice. that is how they feel as we have been talking about on this couch, then go do something about that. kneeling during the national anthem is not going to get any of us anywhere. if you want to go out in the community and mentor young people coming up. that is a great thing to do. people agree with you, pete. i want to watch my football and basketball. i don't want any politics a part of that it will be interesting to see tonight because it's the preseason, the worst for the warriors steph curry is their star player he has gone back and for the with the president about going to the white house, not going to the white house. todd: i want to get to your point, when we were growing up. pete and i were out of our minds about sports. you dreamt of that moment like you said when they turned down the lights and envision yourself being introduced. it's such a thing as a young american male i got fired up about. hockey, football, basketball, basically you want that introduction not so much in baseball but you

want that introduction. what's thi. pete: this isn't you are sitting at home dreaming this isn't your dream. pete: exactly. the cowboys tried to have their cake and eat it too. they knelt before the anthem and stood up during the anthem they still got. why are you suggesting unity protest. go do your unity protest on the other six days of the week. i'm a minnesota sports fans. i know you are from different states. i don't want to know what joe maher or certify none from the vikings. i don't care. if you can make a jump shot. i love you. if you are a republican or democrat, it doesn't matter. republicans by, it's exactly true. and the president is simply saying we honor our country before these sporting events because we lo our country and appreciate it take your protest elsewhere the nfl is taking. tried to get out in front of speak louder than anything. is money. is advertisers.

is people watching the games. they want it to be. imagine conversations going on saying how much do we pay you guys? how much do we pay you a year to do this job. making headlines. pete: growing movement afoot to boycott veterans day. november 12th that weekend a lot of military people on the grassroots turn it off. don't go. if the nfl doesn't, you know, start to hold a policy if you stand for the anthem, then why should fans spend the money and be a part of it. can you see a flash point there on november 12th if people follow through this one weekend we will sit it out because you won't stand for the anthem. todd: there is a group in st. louis that does not agree with us. they had a banner that says no justice, no baseball. they unfurled it at the saint lewis cardinals game. they are of course in st. louis. it's a large banner, a number of individuals. we want you to hear the

chance as they unfurled that banner. >> no justice, no baseball. no justice, no baseball. no justice, no baseball. abby: can hear the booing in the background. they have the right to do that free speech that's what makes our country great. do you know how much money people spend on season tickets and wait all year long to go to these games you guys have been talking about. we love these sports games. watching on tv or spending the money to go. you don't want to sit there and be drowned out by the person next to you. >> pete: only words you want to hear is cold beer hear. that video goes on for 30 minutes. we do have rights in this country. that's a private ball park. the owners can get those fans kicked out in any way that they want. remember that and, again, who wants to see that? take it somewhere else. why do you think it's effective? do you think that's advancing the national conversation? todd: got boos by everybody in there.

what happened here with first hurricane irma and hurricane maria historic storm coming ashore. i have covered natural disasters for half a century as i stand here in old san juan in front of the very common wreck sage that's on every single block in this historic old city. i have covered earthquakes. volume contain nic eruptions. i have chased urk hads. for all that time can i say with reasonable certainty that in modern history there has never been a natural disaster that has so negatively impacted so many people. remember, puerto rico is an island of 3.4 million. they are all without power. they are half of them without water. they have to stand in line 6, 8 hours to get gasoline. food are being imported because the agricultural crop has been entirely wiped out. mother nature dealt puerto rico a very cruel blow. i have to say and it pains me to say this, that the negligence and incompetence

of man added to the suffering. the awful irony is that this there is absolutely nothing wrong with the power plants that supply electricity to this island. behind me is the power complex that supplies nearly half the power puerto rico needs. the plant was virtually unscathe by the storages. the problem is these transmission lines. on virtually every street in puerto rico they are down. this is what is preventing electrical power from reaching the 3.4 million people of puerto rico: unreliable at the best of times and plagued by inept and corrupt management, puerto rico's electrical grid is suspect in the best of times. now because of hurricane maria, it is absolutely obliterated. these people will be without power indefinitely. puerto rico is back in the dark ages. now, there is some, i know you talked about the storms that are still coming, the

last thing puerto rico needs. but help is really on the way. the president has mobilized the entire fleet by getting rid of the jones act. look out there and feel good about the fact that there are now ships on the horizon steaming this is an old live shot in san juan. these vessels are coming into the port of san juan bearing much needed assets for the beleaguered people here. hopefully aside from obviously food and water and so forth, they are bringing telephone poles. they are bringing the kind of equipment needed to bring the infrastructure back online for the 3.4 million people, our fellow citizens who have been so negatively impacted. so i welcome -- i see just as i look around at least four vessels on the horizon, four loaded vessels. so, amidst the ruins and amidst the suffering and amidst the misery some good news is sailing over the

here. don't think we are looking at any chance of tropical development of it. it is hurricane season. the water is very warm. and there increases the moisture here. so you take a look at awful these clouds. that's moving in towards puerto rico right now. we will see significant rain in and in some spots we may be seeing 4 to 6 inches of rain. that's certainly bad news. we haven't talked much about the continental 48 in quite a while with all the tropical activity. abby keeps hinting it feels like fall out here it does. a cold front moved through and dropped temperatures down to around north georgia where temperatures are a little bit cooler than they have been. florida you are still remaining very warm and continue to remain very humid as another little tropical kind of area that we are watching here across florida, expect to see more moisture and across parts of new mexico some flooding today. overall we'll be looking at a temperature trend at least for a couple of days a little cooler here. don't get used to it temperatures are going to warm back into through parts of the east. abby: i was just getting

a high degree, it would be hard for you to want to see them succeed or even help in getting something done. abby: yeah, but you know januarjanuary know -- what happn one thing they care about the most is winning re-election and they don't have the support they need and they need the president to help them get to the finish line. >> you know what? when president trump came down that escalator at trump tower and announced his presidency run, he said the big lie was obamacare. and what we are seeing now the big lie was repeal and replace obamacare and all we need is congress republicans in the majority. this is disappointing. it's honestly frustrating and disgusting that we cannot have a republican party that's in the majority that will actually get something done on healthcare. it's a shame that president trump has to grasp for

half of them are without freshwater. there is no cell service. there's no internet. that lack of communication helps create the kind of panic that results in those lines at the gas station, but this disaster has affected every corner of this island of 3.4 million people. just pan over. it's really the historic buildings. this building behind the generator that's filled with debris there was built in the 1700s. they were in the process of restoring it. it has absolutely as you can see been destroyed, been devastated. it's gone and probably can never be rebuilt. earlier, i was in the historic happy neighborhood called laperl a. if that sounds familiar to folks is the neighborhood oscar you lewis and his classic book where he showed a puerto rican family

in poverty but struggling and succeeding in their life. i went through that neighborhood and building after building a neighborhood that's been around for generations have been destroyed. manuel torres has live in the same house for 61 years. that house now is half destroyed his neighbors homes are also destroyed. here is what he had to say about the storm's impact. >> what do you need now? we need some water. drinking water. yesterday they bring some what r but after nine days it's kind of late. >> geraldo: you know there is aid arriving obviously because of the scope of this disaster. i don't think any reaction could have been swift enough. i don't think there was a true understanding of what has happened because as i said there has never been a natural disaster that negatively

impacted more people, not in modern history and i've covered volcanos and earthquakes and i've chased hurricanes for the last 50 years. i've never seen anything that has hurt more people than hurricane maria here in puerto rico. back to you guys. >> pete: briefly, geraldo what's the sense on the ground of the kind of response that they've received on the ground so far? >> geraldo: i think that it's uneven, pete. you know, people are very frustrated. if you have no electrical power, even if you are say a relatively wealthy person living in one of those condos that line the strip in san juan and you paid a million or $2 million for it and you're on the 12th floor you have noel estraight or. you have no water so if you want to flush the toilet you've got to carry a gallon up 10, 11, 12 stories they are really in extreme. the puerto rican people are a very compassionate and loving and neighborly folk if i can generalize that and i know them

very well. remember the summer i turned 16 years old i lived with my aunt e llie here and she's a good example. she has no generator, she was no water supply. they are modest people, middle class people. they're struggling and this is the new normal. i think everybody gets the fact that it's going to be months before power is restored and i think that the challenge president trump faces when he arrives here on tuesday and god bless the president for coming here to puerto rico and seeing personally what is going on. the challenge he faces though is not to encourage generosity but the challenge is that the infrastructure of this island has been destroyed. there are 16,000 miles of telephone and electric cables for example. they have been neglected. the poles are rotten, down, scarcely a block in this whole island that has an intact electrical cable. they're all above for reasons

that someone better explain to me the wires are all above ground where the hurricane swept them out in the first minutes of the impact. is the united states ready for something acan in to the marshall plan that rebuilt europe afterworld war two? is this the trump plan because i think that's the only salvation ultimately long term for puerto rico back to you. >> abby: geraldo that's why it's so important you're on the ground hemming us all get a better perspective. the media oftentimes focuses when the hurricane hits and it's breaking news and wall to wall coverage and usually the most devastating parts of a hurricane in storms like this is the weeks and months and months after it hit. >> pete: absolutely. >> abby: and geraldo this is where he does his best when he's on the ground and feeling with these people and as he said the president will be there on tuesday. >> pete: speaking of the president he tweeted fake news, cnn and nbc are going out of the way to despair age our great first responders as a way to get trump, not fair to i believe he's trying to say puerto rico

there. >> pete: he's saying this shouldn't be an anti-trump story , how do we cut through the bureaucracy which can prevent things happening quickly and he's laser focused on it going there on tuesday and careful with the criticism comes from until we have information on the ground and find out whether how the execution is actually going. >> abby: as geraldo was saying it's still so early and so important to get on that ground and see it for yourself but we shouldn't be sitting here in our studios already politicizing this and we don't have all the facts, we don't know exactly what's going on behind closed doors also in washington d.c. the fact that the president has a number of people helping him work on the disaster relief effort. >> pete: but we're also focused on things here at home a national conversation this president sparked when he had a rally in alabama said we should be standing for our national anthem. tomorrow there are more sunday football games. last weekend we saw over 200 players decide to take a knee during the national anthem but the question is how will it

compare todd we saw a preview thursday night football the packers standing locked arm to arm the president says good they're standing. we'll see what happens sunday. >> todd: teams coming out announcing what they are doing, tomorrow saying they will kneel before the anthem and stand fort anthem. but so they're not going to kneel for our anthem and stand for to save the queen? >> abby: this happened last sunday so the nba is now having to get ahead of this because they realize what a big deal this is for the nfl and they don't want to be stuck in the controversy because it's not good for ratings ortizers or anything they are trying to do so the nba trying to get ahead of it saying we need to reinstate that rule there will be no kneeling during the national anthem and instead they're offering up some ideas just like we saw with green bay to show more unity together. >> todd: so they're trying to have their cake and eat it too and say well we'll stand for the anthem because little kids shouldn't watch their heros take a knee while they come to watch a game and disrespect their country so instead we'll play something on the board or give a player a mic and they can talk

about social justice. guess what? i don't think fans want to see that and we had ledge legendary football coach on who talked about how that hurts in the locker room as well. take a listen. if you don't have a locker room that's joined with one one cause you're going to have problems so what we always did was somebody from the far left said you need to have this disrespect for the national anthem is created a division in the locker room, they're trying to do it. now they're smart enough. they want to win but sometimes there's more important things than winning and showing respect for the flag that's certainly one of them. >> pete: you get that. you've been in a lot of locker rooms but pete and i grew up playing sports so you can have the best team on paper but if you don't have that locker room cohesiveness you're going nowhere and if you have a team with a lot of guys but big hearts but no cohesive locker room you can win championships it's so important. it's a debate politics on the bus on the away games in college with nate walton, his dad is a

these ceremonies where they drape the flag over the casket, it was in afghanistan a couple years ago, you watch that ceremony and you kneel in the c 130 with the casket there, the flag draped coffin, and i've also been here whereas a congressman i've given that folded flag to a gold star mom or a galled star wife or someone that's lost their son or husband in combat and iraq or afghanistan and what the flag means to that mom or to that wife or that spouse and what that flag means draped over that coffin, i think that our nfl players need to be educated. i think that's what this is, down at its basis form, i don't think they understand most military or most nfl players have no mind for military service. they're not going to do it. they're talented, well paid they work hard but they don't understand what the flag means and they don't realize they're disrespected even here in san diego our sports radio guys and i watch espn and i love football , i love sports.

they don't understand the audience of guys like me of people like me that know what the flag stands for, know what the anthem stands for, and they're turning us off. that's what's happening right now. >> pete: duncan why has the flag become political? >> oh, that's a great question, pete. i think from the nfl players, what they say is it represents all the bad things about america that's what they say. i think that that was a false narrative created by the liberal s when this whole thing first started, because they don't have the education that they need to realize the flag is what we follow into battle. that's what the flag stands for. it doesn't stand for slavery. it doesn't stand for civil rights abuses. it doesn't stand for what we did to the native americans when we first came here. christopher columbus did for god sakes. what it stands for is what america means to guys like me and you and the millions of people that have given their lives for this country and all the wars we've had that's what we follow into battle. that's what we give the wife that lost her husband and what we give the mom that lost her

son or daughter. that's what it means and the players just don't get it. >> abby: and the lives that continue to be lost fighting for all of our freedom to be able to do what we do. it's such an important issue. i want your thoughts quickly on pardoning patrol agents this is something you're passionate about and something you put a request in for? >> yeah, ramos got put in jail and got 10 and 11 years of jail for chasing down a drug dealer who the department of justice then gave immunity to the drug dealer that had over 700 pounds of marijuana who got shot in the bottom, got shot in the rear end , the border patrol agents went to jail. the drug smuggler got immunity by our department of justice who he then got put in jail for nine years for drinking drugs back across. president bush commuted their sentence in his last day in office but they're still considered criminals and after i watched president trump pardon joe arpaio i think he had to do the same thing for ramos and

avenue in new york city, well the protesting of our national anthem is filtering down into the schools last week an entire youth football team players age 7 & 8 took a knee during the anthem and on monday a california school district the honor band played the anthem on one knee before the oakland baseball game there and earlier in the show we told you about the louisiana school district requiring student athletes to stand during the anthem. this of course as a youth league in texas is avoiding the controversy altogether by canceling the anthem before their games. here to share their thoughts a panel of politically active moms i'm so excited to get all of your take on this. this is what the country has been talking about. we want to hear how you've been talking about it and your kids just quickly how many of you have kids that play in sports right now? okay, well beth let's start with you. you said you have a son that plays football. >> i do. a son whose a junior in high school and he plays football and absolutely it has been conversation over the last few weeks especially because we also

went to the buffalo bills football game last sunday, and there was a lot of controversy at the game. you know, what we talk about is there was a time in our country where the older generation actually taught the younger generation how to show respect and that's not being done any more. we have an entire generation that's instead of acting and doing what's right, they're acting on their feelings and you know, we just it's not respectful. it's not honorable. we don't believe that it's the right thing to do. we need to show respect for our country and my son absolutely believes that way also. >> abby: respect for that flag. you also have a son that's a freshman right playing football. >> at this very minute he's playing. >> abby: so i'm sure you've had these conversations with him. how do those go? >> i have two sons one is ninth grade and the other is in college and of course i'm a professor and this is one of the most heated exchanges we had all semester. we start out every class talking about what's going on in the world of politics and this is the heated exchanges we've had

among college students and for my son he's really torn by this issue. he is a huge new england patriot s fan and when he saw tom brady and the others lock hands and he saw people go down on their knees he's also a very patriotic person who supported donald trump and so he felt very torn by this entire issue because on the one hand he wants to support the players and the teams and he's sensitive to the racial inequality issues and on the other hand he feels like there should be respect and he's at a private catholic school where they instill that in him so a lot of the young men it's very big football program feels similarly torn by this issue and they want to support their brothers on the field and they also want to be patriotic and they are going to be sensitive to these racial issues that they feel are part of their generation and what they are experiencing. >> abby: we want that patriotism as part of our next generation. kathy your kids are home schooled and it doesn't mean they're not talking about this. >> they are. you know and as a black mother when i look into the eyes of my

black children, everything within me wants to instill in them that they are limitless, that they are fearfully and wonderfully made that they have actually been knitted together with purpose so how is it for parents, for a certain group of parents to in grain in their children that because you're black in america, you will be oppressed? that's a false narrative to begin with, but how bleak is that that that is the narrative, that because you're black, because of the color of your skin, you will be considered less than. you will be considered to be oppressed in some fashion and not only is it bleak but it's an oppressive cloud that will hang over the heads of these little impressionable souls, all the days of their lives so as a mother when i look into the eyes of my black children i want to instill in them that in america, the great equalizer is the willingness to educate yourself and the willingness to work hard for what it is that you want and

you can achieve anything here. >> abby: there does seem to be this misconception today you're speaking to kathy that if you are not supporting kneeling during the national anthem that you then do not support racial equality, right? that you are against blacks getting what everyone deserves. is that fair? >> do you know what, abbey? this weighs heavily on me. my dad played for 11 years in the major league baseball and founded the major league baseball players alumni association so this is definitely something that hits home for me and what i would tell my children is to consider the original intent, outlined by colin kaepernick which was to i would ask them to consider which group is the most effective at raising awareness of issues of ongoing social injustice and oppression and history is biblical so as history considers colin kaepernick in the ripple

effects held by this particular protest how would history look upon him and when should you speak up, when should you speak out? >> abby: how do you feel about that? >> i agree. i think that colin kaepernick is a hero and-- >> abby: you do? i do and as i talk to i see the giants and the jets as my patients and as i talk to them and i talk to my daughter i do think that what they're doing is taking a knee against racial in equality and against police brutality and that's i believe what colin kaepernick intended and then i looked at the flag code and the flag code says you can't wear a flag on your t-shirt or put the flag horizontal. it doesn't say anything about taking a knee and that being disrespectful. my husband is an ex-captain in the army. my father in law is a vet. i have many many members that are very patriotic in my family. we do believe in patriotism but i do think the intent and the spirit is just too equalize. this is about equalizing and that is their platform and i agree with what tiffany was saying about this is their platform and they want to broadcast to the world. >> abby: kim i know you want to

jump in. i want to get everyone's voice here. go ahead. >> i don't disagree that every child should have the ability to express who they are and what they want to express. i think that message has gotten muttled. we have a young man in my daughter's school who won't stand for the pledge of allegiance and when asked about it he said because i don't have to because the football players don't. i don't think he understood what the background and purpose was and it comes off as being anti- patriotic and i guess my point is to the hipocracy that we talked about earlier. if it's okay for students to take a stand on racial inequality and it absolutely is, it's their perogative to do that then they should also be able to take a knee and pray before a game. they should also be able to express themselves however they want to. my one caveat with my own daughter is got to understand what you're doing and you have to do it for a purpose not just because other people are doing it. >> abby: that's great advice. yeah mean go ahead. >> well the nfl is alienating

their fan base and you'll see-- >> abby: we've seen that and seen the ratings and now we're seeing they're not kneeling as much and that's for a reason obviously. >> and people are speaking with their wallets. people spend thousands of dollars to be entertained. they don't want to be lectured to and see all these protests that are going on. they should do these protests on their own time. there's another place and time to do so. as for the children, i think is really unfortunate that they are being miss guided by adults and people they look up to. i'm old school. you stand up, you take off your hat put your hand over your heart and honor or country honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and honor those who are serving in the military today. >> abby: absolutely it sends a bigger message rebecca that we can protest and we can have free speech and stand up in what we believe in but we should not disrespect the pledge of allegiance and the flag as one of those. >> hand on heart this is our one tradition abbey we all share as americans and remember what that anthem is about.

it's about an aching doubt, a prisoner in baltimore harbor and you wonder is our flag still there? did they survive? it's about doubt. you don't have to believe 100%. america doesn't have to be perfect for you and me and all of us to find enough good to put our hands-on our hearts for two minutes and an f22 pilot over syria flies an eight hour mission we can put our hands over our hearts for two minutes and respect our beloved flag. >> abby: i can't help but think about our military members serving overseas right now in places like kabul, spending that time watching sports their favorite times of the day and what they think about all this playing out guys thank you so much, ladies for your perspective also really appreciate that. >> thank you, abbey. >> abby: coming up most high school kids are focused on cars, sports and graduation but this kid is running, yes running for governor of the state of kansas as a republican. the potential gop nominee is going to join us live i can not wait for that up next. but first let's check in with

>> pete: the secretary of state using that and now a fox news alert right now ships in puerto rico bringing much needed supplies to the hard hit island, people there now bracing for even more rain after being battered by two hurricanes. >> todd: rick richmuth keeping an eye on the situation what do we know right now? >> rick: more rain coming in today. we can have tropical activity any month of the year but hurricane season starts the end of june until the end of november but it peaks up here at about september 10 when we were seeing irma going and all of the activity we're having now, we are getting on the downhill slide which is good but the water is incredibly warm abnormally warm waters across parts of the caribbean so any time we see something we think something could develop or we see this shower activity. i don't think we'll see development of a tropical system from this. that said a lot of tropical moisture going in towards puerto rico so the next couple days bring some big showers and some of these showers from time to time might be heavy and we could see some isolated spots now our models even putting up to eight

inches of rain so that would be problematic obviously and its relief efforts are underway making it harder to get through these roads that are impassable. also watching the system across parts of florida i don't think we'll see development of this but we are seeing pretty significant rainfall especially the northern part of florida throughout the next couple of days some spots up to eight inches of rain. guys? >> abby: all right thank you, rick. >> rick: you bet. >> pete: we've been updating you all morning long on puerto rico trying to get the facts on the ground but the so-called mainstream media if you were to change the channel and take a look they've taken no time in trying to politicize this tragedy. here is the sound of what we've been seeing. do you have a sense that the response from the federal government or maybe the response would have been stronger if you'd been a state? >> maybe it's because they didn't care. maybe it's because this wasn't a priority? >> there's 3.5 million americans in puerto rico and the president was really preoccupied with trying to make a racial issue out of the nfl while he wasn't

the first things he told me is that tyler, you've got to run. you've got to run as a republican. you've got to get young people excited about this election and so it's really i think a bipartisan decision both young people from their republican and democratic parties to get young people involved in this political campaign and this election, and i think that's a great thing so it's really jack and my love for politics and government that drove me to run. >> abby: we need more of that bipartisanship so if people are wondering you're running for governor in the state of kansas there's no age limit so it's totally legal for you to run for governor. i think we're all curious because both parents are bernie sanders supporters right? >> yes, they are. >> abby: how do they feel about you running as a republican candidate? >> well you know, the great thing is that they've always encouraged me to explore new ideas, read literature that challenges my current views whether it was reading the
