every angle. breaking news, federal authorities announced 3 arrests over a thwarted isis plot in new york. suspects ranging from 18 to 32. targeting concerts with other sophtargets. relate? perhaps? 2016-2017, the mind set is the same. the city is different. joining us for reaction in las vegas is our senior national correspondent dan springer. you are covering this story. we still have so many questions. the frustration from the under-sheriff was evident. what do you pull from that presser today? >> the under-sheriff and the fbi. the fbi had a spokesperson there. he spoke briefly and said what we are doing now is putting up billboards throughout las vegas because we believe that somebody must know something that is important. these billboards ask them to call the authorities.

almost like they are frustrated. they have never experienced something like this. you think about all of the different big mass shootings we had. columbine. we knew instantly what the motive was. we are 5 days from the shooting and they don't know. they are around the edges. looking at his movements before hand. ammunition and all of the planning and planning in other cities he may have been targeting. but nothing that goes to the heart of the motive yet. it's frustrating for them. >> some of the rumors have been rampant. a second shooter. that was kicked out today. however, they didn't rule out that he had some help. do you broker the two? >> there was a news report from nbc that indicated there may have been a second person because the report said at the

same time the time the vehicle was gone from the parking garage, somebody used the room key to get inside that room on the 32nd floor in the mandalay bay. well, the police were asked about it today. they said that did not happen. the room key was not used at the same time the car was gone and nobody other than stephen paddock ever went inside that room. they discounted the story. they didn't shoot down the possibility that somebody else may have been involved in procuring the weapons and all of the plans for the attack. >> and he did buy tracer ammunition. he did not use it. ballistic experts say this device to make an automatic gun. that might have hindered, thank goodness, the carnage, because it slowed him down. it hurts accuracy and causes the

jamming of the rifle. >> i wonder if the tracerammo was in the bump stock guns that jammed. 12 of the 23 weapons in the room had bump stocks. we know from a report that he did buy this tracer ammunition. that's significant. that allows the shooter to see where the bullets are landing in the crowd and increase his accuracy. every 4th or 5th bullet would show where it landed. it could have made the situation for deadly. it would make the weapons more likely to jam. maybe that happened. maybe that's why the shooting stopped because his weapons got jammed. we don't know. >> we know a lot more because everything is under surveillance in las vegas especially with high stakes gamblers like him.

there was no signs he was radicalized. there was no social pressure on him. there was no outward look at a type of of religious conversion. the under-sheriff said we acknowledge the fact that isis continues to claim he was one of theirs. however, they know he was gambling all day. he complained about loud music underneath. an agitated. 8 hours, extremely good gambler. one thing is clear, very intelligent. >> very intelligent. very thorough in his planning. the fact he was booking rooms in other cities. weeks in advance of events there. scouting out locations. yeah, but there was also reporting that marilou danley, his girlfriend, reported to the police in their interview that

he was agitated during the middle of the night. waking up agitated and screaming in the middle of the night and shouting. does that paint the picture of a madman who was going to kill dozens of people? not necessarily. >> baseball games and people are concerned in offices that might be a perch for somebody that wants to do the same thing. you noticed when you landed today in terms of security, there was a lot going on that was never there before. everything is changing in las vegas right now. >> absolutely. when i went into the hotel, i went into the parking garage. i was met by a number of different security guys. every single person who pulled up had to open up their trunk

crime -- school shootings and assassination attempts -- all of the models that go into this are not there. they are not there. there is nobody coming forward and saying i saw something unusual. he was angry at this group or that group. that usually happens in these cases. we are seeing none of that. dan springer said we are 4.5 days in and nobody saw anything suspicious? very bizarre. >> danny, you have seen a lot. we hadn't on 20 cruises, 9 with marilou danley. and the stops include spain, italy, greece, jordan and the united arab emerates. are we looking there? >> yes. we may never know, we don't like to say that, i never want to say
