cards. but don't expect a deal from the democrats. senate minority leader chuck schumer and house minority leader nancy pelosi already saying no thanks. "we told the president about meeting that we were open to reasonable border security measures alongside the dream act. but this list go so far beyond what is reasonable, this proposal fails to represent any attempt to compromise." the president's counselor has this message for critics. >> they should be calling their friends chuck and nancy to say are you going to give up the deal because, why don't you want a border wall constructed? why don't you want more immigration judges and agents? why is it a reasonable policy to limit chain migration and stop the visa overstates and make sure people following the law -- breaking allowance they are here, go back. >> kimberly: jesse, what do

you make of the plan? the democrats pushing back but trump, a.k.a. the wall, pushing forward. >> jesse: crying chuck needs to put down "the new york times." this is classic trump. dial it back and get 75% of what you want. i am sick of hearing "it's a nonstarter." according to democrats, anything the republicans propose is a nonstarter. i understand why. republicans in congress have caved and buckled for the last eight years. it's a two-pronged strategy. insert the wall and at the last minute, dial it back and then you look like you are flexible and a big leader. or you take the wall to the limit and make the democrats look like rigid radicals. he still has a trump card. he can extend daca if he doesn't like the terms. he controls the whole debate. the issue is the wall isn't as

popular as protecting dreamers. i don't think trumpcare is about polling and i think is basis going to stay within the matter what. either he does care about dreamers. polling and i think nis basis >> jesse: he does but he also cares about the wall. >> greg: i am a dreamer. i dream about the wall. these are green cards, not gift cards. what's wrong with a little bit of process, a little bit of rules? i don't think it's that big of a deal but 70 points. that's a lot of points. can you imagine being -- can you imagine being in that meeting. 47 more points. >> gillian: it is refreshing to hear you talk about rules and process in such a respectful way. >> greg: it's an interesting point because the argument that the democrats have about immigration is exactly the opposite of their argument for gun control. they don't want laws.

immigration, why do we need more laws? we need sanctuary. but that's exactly opposite the gun-control argument which is we need more laws. we need more friction. we need to slow things down. but they can't do it with immigration. i find that very interesting. that can work both ways. you can say someone who argues against gun control laws, why do they want laws for immigration? >> jesse: i like the first way better. >> kimberly: governor jerry brown doing that with california, essentially making it a sanctuary state. they want to make their own laws and play by their own rules. hello, juan. >> greg: welcome back. >> juan: good to be here. i see it so differently because i realized there was a deal in place, a deal between the president and chuck and nancy. and then the president had a group of republican senators who say we think you're pushing us out, mr. president. we don't like it. why don't we look at some

principles we can employ with regard to immigration? having struck a deal with chuck and nancy, guess what. >> greg: call them chancy. >> greg: he says here's my principal. wait a second. nobody does business this way. nobody does a deal where it's all on my terms or no terms or the highway, and that's what he did. when the democrats he excuse us, that's not the deal we discussed. because they had agreed, by the way, jesse, to add security on the border as part of the deal. they had agreed they want e-verify. they want so many of these things. trump has gone back and undone the deal. i agree with what jillian said. i have read trump saying he cares about the dreamers. he would not want to do anything

to hurt the dreamers. >> jesse: but we don't want more dreamers. we have to wake up eventually. >> juan: the dreamers are a circumscribed group. you can't add more. >> jesse: sure, you can. you have more coming over and bringing children, hence more dreamers. >> kimberly: i saw the look on greg's face. leave leave it out of it. #chancy. theme song, abba. jillian, i like what you're saying. the president isn't trying to be mean-spirited. hardworking americans who came here, perhaps snowfall directly of their own. is there a way to kind of make both sides happy and little bits. with the democrats be obstructionist? now you see chancy saying we have no bid for this. >> gillian: i was surprised to see. what worries me in this proposal there is an element of using the dreamers as a negotiating chip.

president trump has taken great care in many speeches, many public remarks to talk about the fact that emotionally and psychologically he connects with the idea that america should be a place to welcome these people. so i was disappointed by that come about my own political stuff aside for a second, i think the proposal submitted yesterday is really the administration's answer to the criticism that president trump received in the wake of the failed health care appeal which is that he was not invested personally. he was not involved in the process. he was not down in the nitty-gritty, figuring stuff out, trying to help congress. coming up with the specifics. this is something that is chockablock full of specifics. no one can levy that criticism again. i think that was the priority, cobbling together a plan. >> kimberly: i want to put the point out that of the president has been willing to reach across

to the democrats to try to find some common ground. he is doing that even right now with chuck schumer as it relates to health care and saying i am willing to do a deal. it can use it at the table? he is. you can't say he's not. he has reached out. >> juan: isn't he trying to undercut the health care deal? >> kimberly: when are the democrats going to reach across and say we are actually going to try to do something in the best interest of the country. >> gillian: you don't sit down for negotiation and put out your lowest number. >> greg: it is what jesse said. a 70-point plan isn't what he is expecting to get. if he can get 30 points, it's a win. it also exposes the fact that chancey did not read this because they didn't get give specifics. you brought up the point about how he's using daca as a chip. brilliant on his part because it wasn't a chip. he is still using it. he says you can have it.

you knew he was never going to send those kids back, or the families back. he fabricated a chip out of something that wasn't a chip. >> gillian: if congress doesn't get this done, do you think you will go back with an executive fixed the problem? >> greg: no, i don't think so. >> jesse: the base would freak out. politicians use chips all the time. they use the military as a bargaining chip during the debt ceiling. democrats don't want to secure the border. they like illegal immigration. they want to keep criminal illegal aliens in the country. they don't want them deported. they are all for infrastructure except the wall. build everything in america. the wall is going to be made in america too, juan. don't you like that? >> juan: i hope so because it was going to be paid for by the mexicans. >> gillian: jesse hasn't given up on it. >> juan: i didn't know we were on fantasy island.

one of the arguments that came from the dreamers, remember when they got in nancy pelosi's face in san francisco. what were they saying? they were saying don't use us as a football in your negotiations with donald trump. don't give into added security for this and added funding for that. we believe we have a case to make the american people want us to stay. why are you guys making it a political football. nancy pelosi, she ran off the stage. you enjoyed that moment. >> jesse: i very much did. >> juan: so now here comes donald trump and he is in trouble with the republicans and says wait a second. i have principles. he is changing the deal, jesse. that's not art of the deal. >> jesse: sounds like a good deal to me. >> juan: reneging on a deal. >> jesse: he said he wanted massive border funding.

clear guidelines distributed to the players about what conduct on the field during, before, after the game is supposed to look like. that said, there is some distance between you and i on this. i think nobody is really pulling a stunt here in the sense that everybody is exercising grievances in a legitimate way. they are exercising their constitutional rights. they players kneeling on the players standing. the american people who are boycotting games, the vice president. everyone has legitimate grievances and i think that's okay for all of this to be going on. the people that i put in the center of this and i put a lot of the blame on is the nfl because they have very clearly issued guidelines and they are reneging on them. they have not put forward -- >> jesse: they are scared of their players and i know that from a well-placed source. a lot of owners are afraid that they players are going to do this and i don't want to come down too hard on them.

that they are going to kneel and it's going to be bad for business. >> kimberly: remember the baseball strike. that didn't work out so well for baseball. >> gillian: so far this is in their financial interest. all of the attention on the nfl. >> jesse: the ratings don't really prove that. juan, let me ask you. jamele hill was just suspended. fair or unfair? >> juan: when she does things repeatedly. according to espn, they spoke with her and not suspended her after the first comments. she represents the company. by that standard i would apply to myself as an employee of fox, i'm not free to go out there and say things that would be contrary to fox's best interest interests. i do work for fox and i am a

proud employee of this company. i think she understood she broke a rule that i think -- i am interested in knowing how other people, especially other black people at espn, react. the first time when there was some question about what she had done and whether or not she should be off the air, everybody said no. in this case, i think jemele hill knows intentionally, broke a rule knows she intensively iy broker rule. >> jesse: they are 2-19 since this kneeling thing began. >> greg: the thing that kills me and i know it kills kimberly. this is one of the greatest teams. and it's like you can't even remember that. what drives me nuts about this is if you endorse patriotic symbolism, the media will mock you. you are so old-fashioned. but if you resist patriotic symbolism, they have -- they elevate you.

over the weekend, president trump one after corker for not being a strong senator. he said and dropping out, not seeking reelection because the president wouldn't endorse him. trump tweeted this among other things. "i would fully expect corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great agenda. didn't have the guts to run!" senator corker fired back, tweeting "it's a shame the white house has become an adult day care center. someone obviously missed their shift." gillian, want to make of this? >> gillian: that's what we say about you all the time. someone missed their shift this morning. i don't think this is about who is right and who's wrong. we will never know. who really said what and who has done watch. it's also not about who wins because i don't think anyone wins in this argument. but i do think something important to consider is who has more on the line to lose and

from that optic, the president definitely has more to lose because corker is a lame duck. he has no one to care about except himself. he has no constituents to impress and retain. he is a free agent. in the next two years, the president actually needs corker to get some important parts of his agenda through like potentially tax reform, like potentially the iran nuclear deal. more nominees for the state department. i don't think it was smart for the president to go down this road with him, not because he's wrong and corker is right but just because of the practical considerations. i don't think it was a smart calculation. >> juan: over the weekend, the controversy about tillerson supposedly calling trump a moron and then corker gets involved and says i'm close to tillerson and in fact trump's tweets have

undermined our disciplines -- diplomacy in the world. >> kimberly: obviously they don't get along. there are people who thought at first may be corker would primary president trump but his approval rating is 34% in tennessee. there is another strong candidate. i don't know where he is going with this. corker. it's not going over well. what's he going to do? he is going to hurt the party next by not supporting tax reform or immigration or being on board with health care? i don't know. not going well. >> juan: today "the wall street journal" writes the president has become a man without a party, that he's angry at corker, he's angry at mcconnell, ingrid lindsey graham, john mccain, jeff flake, susan collins. what is going on? >> jesse: the president does
