to see this. and you can take your whole family and it's not dumb and boring like most other movies. that's all the time we have left this evening. thanks for being with us. brian kilmeade is here next. he works 24/7. see you then. >> this is a fox news alert. at least 10 people are dead as wildfires rage. 100 people have been treated at two hospitals. most of them suffering smoke inhalation. two of the injured are said to be in critical condition. the wind-fueled fires have destroyed at least 1,500 homes at least two wineries have been destroyed and many others damages. a sun sset-to-sunrise curfew ha been imposed.
10:01 pm
there have been some looters. fires are burning in a 200-mile region with the largest being in napa and sonoma counties. smoke is as far south as san francisco, some 60 miles away from the area. the director of the colorado department of forestry and fire protection says that the fires broke out "burned at explosive rates because of 50-mile-an-hour winds." vice president mike pence said that the federal government stands ready to provide any and all assistance to the state. pence's remarks came after california governor jerry brown asked president trump to declare a federal disaster. once again, we're following this breaking story that continues to cause so much damage in napa and sonoma counties of california. fast-moving wildfires blamed for at least 10 deaths. another 100 people have been

treated, mostly for smoke inhalation. two of the injured are said to be at this hour still in critical condition. we'll continue to update you throughout the night. you can expect more coverage on this during our 4:00 a.m. hour and well as "fox & friends." back to "fox news tonight," already in progress. >> how important was it to meet with the border patrol, to meet with the f.b.i., to go down there and talk to others when it comes to getting more judges when it comes to more border patrol and more lawyers for these, in some cases, unaccompanied minors? >> what a lot of people don't recognize is these policies or lack thereof affect our law enforcement communities. when you don't allow federal law enforcement to pick up convicted criminals from the jail, you force them into communities,

leaving law enforcement at risk. a lot of the policies deeply affect law enforcement. it's important to see what works for them and where they need the most help and then maintaining it. >> brian: so senator schumer saying, we talked to the president about a pathway to daca. he said, we're willing to take in reasonable security measures and illegal immigration measures. he said it's not reasonable. what do you say? >> they're unable to point to what is unreasonable about this. what is unreasonable about having a lawful system of immigration? what is unreasonable about the 77% of americans that think that we need to end sanctuary situations. look at the woman in portland. that woman harbored illegal aliens the person that attacked her had been deported 20 times, arrested
10:04 pm
10 times before this year, before he attacked and raped a 65-year-old woman. that's not policies that the american people support and yet i've yet to hear opponents say why they're against them. >> brian: and there is 70 points here. in ordered to pass comprehensive immigration, which president bush couldn't do, president obama couldn't do, you need 60 votes. as certain as you are that out feel you are right, there will be give and compromise. do you feel there's a sense on both sides that needs to be compromised? >> absolutely. these are the president's legislative priorities. they should not come as a surprise. it's what he ran on. it's what he was elected to do. it's about border security but also about interior enforcement and legal immigration, so we're bringing the right people in.
10:05 pm
so i think this is what he's coming to the table with. this is what he's saying. i represent the american people and this is what they want. but it's congress's decision and it's their responsibility and that's what we saw with daca, where the lasted a minnesota -- last administration declared themselves a legislative branch. >> brian: and it's important for people listening to understand there is talks of, there will be border enforcement in the '80s with reagan and it didn't happen. in 2006, both sides said we wrote a check to build a barrier when it works and they never built is. what language is in this to make sure that people have to fulfill what they promised? >> right. that's why the president thinks it's so important that these go hand in hand. you have it have a secure border. you have to have interior enforcement. how of to fix the asylum system to that create perverse
10:06 pm
incentives. and then you can talk about the other fixes. you're right. the american people have been fooled in this before and they will not accept it any longer. >> brian: the numbers are staggering and i'm sure you know this, but this year alone, 34,000 plus unaccompanied minors coming across our border. and this is a time in which the border crossings have been decreased. and there's a provision passed that allows anyone from central america to stay here and get a ticket to come back for their hearing, but once they cross, they cannot be sent back. no one really knew what this was about, but, man, did we get to know this when saw people surge across the border for seemingly no apparent reason. >> when the last administration said that it would be their

policy, from 2009 to 2016, there was a 1,000-point increase in asylum seekers. when the last administration broadcast that we would have an open-borders policy, it happened this president said that we'll have a rule of law. >> brian: and will the president get nancy pelosi and chuck back in to discuss daca? >> i think it's clear from his legislative priorities that he laid out last night that he is serious about border security and interior enforcement and having a lawful system of immigration. >> brian: we'll see. in some places there will be a wall, in some a fences and in other places, topography does

10:09 pm
perspective of a commentator. a lot of people that pretend to be journalists, they're not either. a lot of them work for political campaigns, worked for politicians, and now they pretend their objective. they're not. so there was no pretense on my part. i thought there was great questions that i was able to pose to him, everything from the embassy in jerusalem, when will that happen? he said, may not any time soon. we talked about the tax bill. a host of things. but there will be those that say, you just got the interview because your daughter is the press secretary. my response to that, probably so. >> brian: probably so. use your access and connections. welcome to america. i have to ask you, too, about what i was talking to sara flores about. i have heard you speak about
10:10 pm
this. it's similar to what you have said. now bring me into washington. how does something get passed right now? >> first, let me say that sara flores was excellent in presenting the justice department's view on this. here's the reality of politics. the republicans have the house, senate and white house. if the democrats are serious about daca, which they say is very important to them, they have to understand that if all you have is a stale biscuit to bring to the potluck, you don't get to eat the entire meatloaf. you will have to give up something. if daca is important -- and by the way, i support the passage of daca but do it legislatively. the republicans can do this without democrats, especially if they decide to upend the filibuster rule, which i think they should. if you don't get it done by compromising on things like border security and the
10:11 pm
republicans end up passing daca, the democrats are going to have to answer to their voters why for all the years when they had all the pieces, they didn't get it done and when the republicans had all the pieces, they did get it done. that's a winning issue for the republicans. it's a huge loser for the democrats. they need to wake up and i would say, smell the meatloaf. >> brian: i think it would be a huge mistake to do the simple 50. in four years, you could have a situation where the country dramatically changes. as frustrating as it is, if you had a president hillary clinton, you may not recognize the country in four or eight years. >> well, that's very likely. i just believe that the american people will support the border wall and also generally support daca. even republicans that don't like it will go along with it to get
10:12 pm
some things that they want. let's try to get democrats on board and maybe there's at least seven or eight democrats in tough districts or maybe they should have some common sense and they realize their party is about to drive them over the cliff like "thelma & louise." maybe they will vote for a comprehensive package that includes border security and they get what they say they want, which is daca. >> brian: i want to get your take on what is going on with senator corker and the president. if you are a republican, you cannot be happy about this regardless of the side you are on, or are you? >> no, i'm not happy at all. i'm glad corker is leaving. you don't take on the president of your own party in "the new york times" and try to make degrading statements. if he says, i'm responding to donald trump. everybody knows when you attack
10:13 pm
donald trump, he will come at you 10 times harder. there are more people that support donald trump in his role as president than support bob corker as a senator and i'm sure he's finding that out from the reactions today. i will say this one thing, brian. bob corker is being celebrated by the panels on the left wing talkshows. so if you want to be loved by the left, attack president trump. if you want to serve the american people and do what you were elected to do, don't fight with this president. help him. >> brian: and i will help you. i saw some of your show. it's awesome. you must be thrilled. you have music. you open up with a monologue. you have great interviews, great variety. it's not just politics. tell us how we see it. >> every saturday and sunday night 8:00 eastern. the show will come from nashvil
