we have to show the american people not just what we are against but what we are for. the reason donald trump was successful at least in part in 2016 is because he went to places like ohio that have been traditionally democrat over the years. yes, swing states but places like michigan and wisconsin, he talked about issues like trade and the economy.te if we went back to those things that frankly, president trump adopted, may be middle america would start listening to us again. as opposed to having the coastal elite leadership of the democratic party. sending out a message i think is incongruent to what i believe "real democrats" that i represent really believe in. >> brian: do you know what, kevin? the democrats have a problem and it happened last week. when bernie sanders say he's? running is running as an independent for reelection, wee know he wants to run for president. if he runs as an independent, he is on steroids. >> they've got a lot of problems. a
10:45 pm
the 2020 primary. they've got no economic message beyond this big, big government, socialize everything, bernie sanders message. all of the energy in the party right now. then there's the impotent rage, screaming at the sky as they will be doing in boston on the one year anniversary of donald trump election. they've not gotten over the loss of 2016. they really haven't developed an economic message of their own yet. i think it will be a hard time in 2018 and 2020. republicans haven't gotten as much done as they probably should. they're still running against democrats who have gotten the message yet. >> brian: capri, if you are a democrat -- do you say get involved in tax reform or justod
10:46 pm
back off and see if the republicans implode like last time? >> get involved. i was a state legislator for ten years. the only way you actually get things done is if you work together.y let's be adults and come together. let's have a solution. >> brian: kevin, are you siding with the corker contingent and the flake fans or are you with the president with the divide on display today? >> i am siding with lindsey graham -- he put it best tonight. look, they should work these problems out. we all hope the president keeps his tone appropriate but this is who the american people elected. we've got one meeting at a time. we should all push to get this agenda passed. >> brian: together we have a lot of problems, don't we? hopefully we will find a way to solve something. kevin and capri, great job. coming up, notorious nfl kneeler, colin kaepernick. he is writing a book. will you actually read it? will he actually write it?

spring, willingly, by the way. what do we think about this and who is going to read it, if anyone? or will everyone?at joining me now, scott bolden and harmeet dhillon. a quarterback making over $10 million, why is he doing it? >> he's doing it to get his record and story out. he's got to make a living entity is free to do that but he's got an incredible story. he's been in the league three or four years. he had an immediate success taking his team to the super bowl and now because of his kneeling, half the leak is -- league is kneeling to prote protest. against police brutality and social injustices and the other half are supporting each other uniting on this front. i would certainly read this book and i would urge everyone to read this book because to really get behind just what he does, and the kneeling part, investing in social justice and other things, i think it will be
10:52 pm
educational. >> brian: do you agree? >> i do.wi [laughs] go right ahead. >> i think he does have something to say and i think americans will be interested in it but my focus is a bit different. people will be asking if you are looking for a job as a quarterback, why are you wearing t-shirts that insult a lot of the things americans care for such as t-shirts promoting fidel castro?t- why is your girlfriend compare the baltimore ravens owner to a slave owner when you are looking at a job with the baltimore ravens? he's made some questionable choices. he started his activism when his performance as a quarterback started on the decline. he chose to leave san francisco either because he was going to get fired or he wanted more money elsewhere. now he's having a hard time finding a job. maybe he will have a second career as a writer because that might be his only future occupationon now. >> brian: scott, he's not been eloquent getting his calls out.
10:53 pm
muhammad ali, jim brown. the race relations -- they could at least relay it well, but he's been underground. he is now suing the nfl for collusion without even telling the union ahead of time. they were caught by surprise. scott, was that good move? >> look at the athletes you compared him to. they were eloquent and i would submit that if you go back and look at all of his interviews, he's quite eloquent as well. he invested $1 million in these social justice causes. he has put his money where his mouth is. the collision lawsuit, if he's got a witness or documents, it will put more pressure on the nfl to either settle with him, resolve or they will fight to the end.o the cba is important because a
10:54 pm
shows collusion, the cba itself will be terminated. look at the players union, whether they talk to him or not. maybe they will join the lawsuit. >> brian: harmeet, the cardinals and dolphins and packers, they all passed on him. what does that tell you? >> first of all, on the collusion thing -- let me just say mark is a good friend of mine. he's a good attorney. he said he can get the evidence? it doesn't have to be a conspiracy. i'm a big believer in simple explanations. if you are the world's best pocket passer, colin kaepernick go out from practice and go into the locker room and nobody would care. the nfl as a business. they are there to make money and please their fans and get advertisers. he's just not performing any more. he can make all the excuses. they don't want him because he is a drama queen and really not ready and fit for playing anymore. >> brian: great debate. michael bennett has been sittina down for the seattle seahawks.
