japan. we will be back at 4:00. brad is at 6:00. now come our friends from washington. arthel: absolutely. stick around for them. eric: have a good day. our friends from washington. >> gloves are off. democrats attack each other over a new tell-all doc from gmc -- dnc leader. whatever claims about hillary clinton's ludicrous while brazil says people trying to shut her up can go to. leland: president trump in the first lady in japan today the first leg of the president trip to asia appeared live in tokyo at what they are saying about north korea. elizabeth: house speaker paul ryan speaking out on fox news to support the plan on taxes. we'll hear from him and republican congressman mike kelly.
10:01 am
elizabeth: thanks for joining us. welcome to "america's news hq." i'm elizabeth crane in atlanta. leland: great to see you at home. i'm leland vittert in washington. we use this word a lot in washington. on shell. this one truly qualifies. new allegations from a former acting dnc chair donna brazile about the 2016 presidential election. excerpts from her new book claim she considered using her position at the dnc to replace hillary clinton as the democratic presidential nominee in september. caroline shively here with us has been digging through this and you say this is both a bombshell inserted tectonic in the way it is shifting things washington is an understatement indeed. reporter: it is a huge win
10:02 am
because donna brazile tears and hillary clinton and her campaign in this book are the former act and chair rice said she thought about trying to replace clinton with then vice president and corey booker after clinton collapsed the 9/11 memorial, but brazil said she couldn't do it because, quote, i thought of hillary and all the women in the country who were so proud of and excited about her. i could not do this for them. brazile also says a joint fundraising looked unethical and clinton had too much power over the party during the primaries before she even be bernie sanders. brazile described the clinton campaign had no respect for katmai that could've been used for voter turnout. here is brazile followed by republican transaction. >> all i was trying to do, i wasn't getting a salary. i was basically volunteering my time. what i was trying to do, george, was increase the level of
10:03 am
enthusiasm and passion for hillary clinton in the ticket all across the country. >> to see such a deck stacked was jaw-dropping to me. no wonder democrats are picked off. i would be, too. it's amazing how the clintons lived above the law or above the rules in this thing. >> more than 100 former campaign staffers published this open letter to brazile last night and is particularly troubling and puzzling she would seemingly buy into propaganda spread by the russians in their opponent about their health. staffers that we do not recognize the campaign she portrays in this book. the book goes on sale tuesday. leland: you can imagine a lot of reporters digging through it on tuesday. some democrats say it's just sort of proves that the clinton era is over. one said to me they don't necessarily wish her ill, but just which are gone. we'll see what happens. caroline, thank you very much. liz. elizabeth: president trump
10:04 am
wrapping up his first day, rallying with key conversations with the prime minister. >> we are in the midst of having major discussions on many subjects and looting north korea and trade and other things that we are doing very well. elizabeth: a very busy day in many more to come. kevin corke joins us more in tokyo. how is the president handling his first day in the big trip? >> very busy first day. you are right. it's the middle of the night here in tokyo. a little bit after 3:00 a.m. the president as he can imagine is in for the evening, but it has been a busy start in another busy day is yet to come in just a few hours. the president began his trip in japan addressing u.s. service personnel and he said to them he was proud of them. he thanked them for their service and more importantly said they were prepared as
10:05 am
americans to not only defend the homeland, but also defend our friends abroad. >> no one, no dictator, no regime and no nation should underestimate out for american resolve. every once in a while in the past they underestimated us. it was not pleasant for them, was there? it was not pleasant. we will never yield, never waver and never default in defense of our people. our freedom and our great american plan. reporter: just some of the remarks made by the president at unicode air base here in japan. thanking him for the sacrifice and pledging to give them all they need to get the job done. and while it is clear that north korea what to do about the pyongyang regime is going to be
10:06 am
the major headline here, there is a lot of talk about trade as the president now looks to not only create an environment with the japanese to try to bridge a massive trade gap, it's $51 billion in 2017 alone. that is just the raucous. he's also interested in maybe creating more coalitions are at the asia-pacific rim. bilateral deals obviously but he's going to crafting something that will enable us as americans to bridge that gap. a major gap indeed. you also know the president was very busy having a dinner with his counterpart commissions out aid. yet a chance chance to not only and join you what the two leaders and their wives in tokyo, which was a very nice evening for them and yeah, they mix a little business and pleasure by talking trade or the president did also bring within, not to the dinner, but on the strip, something important in the conversation the next couple days, ambassador robert ley keizer traveling here.
10:07 am
his focus crafting a number of unilateral deals and maybe laying the the framework for a larger multiparty pack. of course if you know the president one of the first things he did when he was named president was pulled the u.s. out of tpp. i talk about the massive trade deficit. $51 billion with japan. we have large deficits around the region. that will be a major storyline for the president during his time in asia. meanwhile, earlier in the day we told you was busy. a little golf course diplomacy hanging out with the prime minister. matsuyama at a course outside of tokyo. the president said they are wonderful people in the prime minister of japan called the president's marvelous friend. i know we were thinking. tommy kevin, who won the golf match. [laughter] elizabeth: that was one of our first question. we understand there were no scorecards present.
10:08 am
thank you so much. i appreciate it. in the middle of an already packed schedule, president trump plans to meet face-to-face with russian president vladimir putin. the second meeting between the two leaders and expect it to happen thursday on the sidelines of a conference in vietnam. also dates are met from the first indictment and robert moeller's probe into russian election interference, which we all know quite a bit about. return to associated press reporter, bianco. we appreciate it. >> thank you. elizabeth: number of domestic issues. while investigation and what is happening with the dnc. first and foremost, your reporting on reaction from the president's first couple hours overseas. do you expect him to speak to the troops and talk about trade and north korea as he did? >> absolutely. think of this as the critical way he's dealing with trade, national security and any sort
10:09 am
of pressure they can apply a north korea appeared that is the key focus right here. as you mentioned keying this up here that we can is also a factor here. it factors into the national security question surrounding north korea, what is possible they are. also on trade. these things all come together. it is almost impossible to separate the international, diplomatic and the domestic. he can fly halfway around the world as it were, but it always going to be there. elizabeth: i'm curious as to what are your expectations and thoughts on the meeting that potentially could happen between the russian president and president trump. we are on the heels of the indictment. there could be more news that breaks this week. just this week you're covering the fact that tech giants are getting grilled on capitol hill, adds to foreign entities. a lot going on in the freshen up
10:10 am
your bubble that entail, what can we learn about it? >> there's always questions of how much does the pressure putin directly on their interference in our campaigns? a lot of this is back at the 26 campaign, but we also know investigators from the social media sharing that we saw in the middle of the week are looking forward to 2018. we are one your route from those coming days away from the virginia new jersey governor's races. those questions in terms of what happens on facebook, twitter with the russia box, propaganda being spread through those spots. those are all questions that have not been answered. russia is still very active. any number of things could come up and of course this also comes within the context of the probe itself, the moeller probe damping up so many different ways it could go.
10:11 am
we will have a lot of questions for the president after that meeting. elizabeth: a little bit on the domestic issues because obviously we have the white house administration touting the acceptance he will inevitably have. i am curious because the president was very vocal the fact that he wants the criminal probe and hillary clinton obviously the dnc and there's been some criticism of that. how will he stay focused and what'll happen here at home when it comes to reporting? are reporters more focused on domestic issues and if that overpowering the president's trip? >> it could very easily. remember, heading into a week ago, heading into last monday, we knew that there were going to be some sort of indictment in very early on on monday we found out it was paul manafort and break gates. but on top of that, special counsel robert moeller throughout the name george papadopoulos and it was kind of a curveball.
10:12 am
we don't know what curve know what curveballs he has coming for us. on top of everything else. the question should moeller recuse himself, should they be investigating clinton and mr. rainey in one deal, that is actively pushed right now by republican members in the house. it's being pushed by the president as well and that's another question. is that a successful push brett bair? elizabeth: as not appropriate, though? should that be pushed right now do you think? >> we saw senator bob corker point out that it's highly abnormal to have a sitting u.s. president trying to direct his justice department, his chief prosecutor, i'm sorry, the attorney general into prosecution. you know, as a reporter it is not for me to say what is right or wrong, what they should be
10:13 am
doing but i can tell you there's some consternation on the about this. elizabeth: on both sides. tom, thanks for joining us. we appreciate it. elizabeth: amid all this while the president is overseas, his vice president and just about every other republican are hitting the airwaves selling their tax reform plan. house speaker paul ryan telling chris wallace on ochsner sunday the current proposal is on track to meet a christmas deadline. garrett county with a little bit more. republicans have put up more deadlines when it comes to health care. have they learned anything from those failures or are we back on deadlines possibly slipping? >> paul ryan said they have learned a lot from a lot from health care and take in a lot of those lessons and try to implement them to getting tax reform passed. we talk a lot about how town i never would've the fate of the gop tax plan including a number of republicans, both of which are criticisms we hear around
10:14 am
several deductions and tax credits for republicans than to get rid of including deductions for which you pay in state and local taxes, tax credit for deductions, interest you pay on your blog and deduction for teachers buying school supplies. "fox news sunday," house speaker paul ryan defended those changes and said they want americans to keep more of their money from the start. >> the difference here is we are basically singing instead of using a tax deduction to lower your tax rate, tax liability, we'll make it easier in the first place. this is a clear middle class tax-cut. no two ways about it, even for people in high tax states. another is how it will affect the deficit. that's along with the elimination of tax reductions. democrats are criticizing that injures are criticizing not in here is the house minority leader nancy pelosi today. >> while they take us deeply into did the dad of $3 million added to the deficit, very hard
10:15 am
to come back from that. the next 10 years we have to always account for 20 years, the next 10 years is a hybrid gene of the national debt. >> paul ryan argued in the long run the gop's plan will help congress tackle the deficit in our nation's debt by giving the economy a huge boost. again, he's feeling really good about them being able to get things done by the end of the year that starts tomorrow in the house ways and means committee begins to mark the bill up so we will likely see some changes working into the building next couple weeks. trained to carry tiny starting us off on tax reform. thank you. speaking of the house ways and means committee means committee, the wrote the bill, mike kelly, great state of pennsylvania. great to see you. sorry about penn state yesterday. >> , notre dame guy. elizabeth: you are okay then. we will start with this. garrett brought up the big criticisms coming in from your caucus. the local taxes, student loan
10:16 am
interest and school supplies purchased by teachers. house ways and means committee today to discuss things. are there still some point the negotiation, places you can massage and change perhaps? >> i know it's up to chairman brady what were able to do, but a number of members have great concerns in the districts they are from and the people they are legitimate concerns. we always have to be able to talk through these things and look at the bill in its entirety. at the end of the day is that better than we were before. the worst thing that can happen right now is to stay with the status quo because under the current tax it doesn't make us competitive in the world. leland: i get that. tax reform is in the details. speaking of an issue like teachers buying school supplies for their kids, that hasn't played very well with a lot of folks and certainly not playing well on the sunday shows to
10:17 am
argue things things you are sort of now willing to negotiate on, do you think the chairman is willing to change it? would you advocate changing mouse? >> will certainly have those conversations. what is near and dear to me come in the credit is something on the forefront right now. my wife is a teacher, daughter as a teacher. they do an awful lot because of the school districts. when we look at it, how can we help? trade to what were republicans thinking? you have a daughter and a wife who are teachers and you say teachers can't deduct these things. what were you guys thinking? >> were pretty much handcuffed to what we could do or couldn't do. how do you get it done? maybe we looked at it too big as opposed to individually does a
10:18 am
really get the needs of the people. i don't care if you're republican, democrat come independent. i just want to be treated fairly. take a deeper look at longer look at it. this is a huge, huge piece of legislation. there's going to be winners, losers. i don't care how you draw the line. some happy, some sad. but you have to do what's fair. leland: it is fair to also say the optics of it not been good for teachers isn't one that you guys necessarily counted on. we'll get to that in a second. look at the vice president earlier today. >> president trump has been meeting with, breaking bread with democrats in the senate and the house looking for ways that we can go forward together. but we let it go forward in a way that protects president trump's framework for tax reform. focused on the middle class, job creators and businesses having more dollars to invest and create jobs that focused on simplification and democrats to
10:19 am
join us and now we welcome them in a grateful for support. >> let's stick to the meat of the republican argument right now which is this helps the middle class. this is about the middle class. a couple parts of the tax reform bill that clearly only hope the wealthy, repealing the estate tax number one on the helps people with $5 million. the amt, folks who are very wealthy. do you feel as though perhaps as you go forward, those things need to be massaged a little bit? it gives you more room to do a teacher is deductions on the other side. >> those are issues. the main objective of the administration wants to make sure middle income people and those in $859,000, let's make sure they have more take-home pay under our plan close to $2000 more to work with every year. and that is the corporate side of it.
10:20 am
if we can get dynamic and robust economy, a lot of the words we have go away. it's all about revenue and how we generate revenue. again, when the united states dominates, right now is our tax code and regulations. now it could help them on tax code. leland: 3% gdp growth. he was taking credit for the stock market room as well. i'll text you later. you better tell me what's coming out of the house ways and means. >> okay. better day for america. leland: further analysis you heard from paul ryan, speaker of the house. an interview with him coming up right after he and hq here on the fox news channel, not something to miss that this is a subject you're interested in. elizabeth: definitely not. more fallout of the hollywood and hollywood over the misconduct and abuse scandal

new expert claim brazil considered removing the team as nominee. let's bring in our fair and balanced political panel monitor the democratic strategist and member of the clinton campaign finance team. the novella is the chairman. thank you for joining us. i appreciate it. >> thank you. elizabeth: i think i know where you stand on this pretty short excerpt of the book and obviously many are being released will start with you i pose this question. donna brazile writes in part of the women in the country who were so proud of and excited about her come i could not do this to them. i am sort of perplexed at this new revelation that there was the intention that she wanted to replace her because that's not even in the realm of possibility that the chairperson. >> yeah, i am perplexed, too. she had walking pneumonia, a fainting spell. there is no vacancy and even if there were, donna brazile as

interim chair couldn't amply replaced the candidate. that is a process the membership has to vote on. i'm not sure why she's making these claims are saying these things other than perhaps to boost her book sales. elizabeth: david, what is your reaction to this especially with the new revelation today? >> on our brazil is putting out there but most americans thought if they would rather have somebody other than hillary clinton. one of the rare times when donald trump, bernie sanders and elizabeth warren all on the same page. i'll believe that the election was rigged and maybe what we are finding out is the clinton political machine was really the clinton crime circuit. >> that's just silly. >> this came out yesterday and there was about 100 former senior aide published an open letter and in parts that we were shocked to learn the news that donna brazile considered overturning the world democratic voters by attempting to replace billy clinton and tim kaine as the presidential and vice
10:34 am
presidential nominee. i'm confused on the timing of this and her motive on why she's doing this. i want to toss this to you. assertive. is there a calculation here? why now? >> anytime you put a book out, people will question it. people say she shouldn't be doing this. donna brazile has every right to read a book. i'm questioning thing she said then that. i don't think they are accurate or truthful. the notion that process is rigged as preposterous. senator sanders was offered the exact same deal secretary clinton was offered. they chose not to exercise it. it is important to point out the agreement the clinton campaign entered into with the dnc explicitly stated it had nothing to do with the primaries. the notion there's any breaking going on is republican whistle thinking. >> here is where i'm wholly confused. a woman we were not long ago
10:35 am
talking about her sharing topics about a cnn town hall with the candidate. this is where i insert a speechless a little bit. >> a kind of underscores what brazil also talks about in the book is how the dnc wasn't getting funded enough and there wasn't enough infrastructure really put in place. and it underscores and highlights even nastier the fact that you look at the republican national committee which has raised well over $100 million. much support amongst the base, amongst our donors, small donors in particular verses where you see the democratic party right now were they continue to struggle to raise money and donna spoke kind of highlights in all those years where you thought they were building this great political machine. they are going to go over the cliff to all the way to the bottom. but the machine the democratic party claims they have we see again and donna brazil's pocket

there is the every north korea act that has worked a lot on the north korea issue. we see president trump right now getting ready to travel through asia right now in tokyo talking about the north korea issue. what is the israeli view of lessons learned that the united states could apply to north korea? >> well, israel saw it as the last resort and they did not want to go into a nuclear attack against iran, so that had hung like a plan with four corners. use the opposition in iran. use people to be assassinated. this is what the united states has to learn when it comes to north korea. go and blow up their systems. go and put viruses into their systems. don't let their sciences walk
