jillian: here comes the weekend. it is friday. live look outside. sixth avenue there. we have the christmas lights on the trees. it's pretty. rob: we have red ones, they are not on. we need to keep them on, we have to get those on for you. illinois jill let's do that show, good morning, you're watching "fox & friends". i'm jillian mele. rob: and i'm rob schmitt. top story breaking overnight. the senate finance committee approving the senate's republican tax bill just hours after the house actually passed in full version their own version of this bill. >> the bill is passed without objection to motion to reconsider is layed upon the table. jillian: griff jenkins joins us live from washington, d.c. with what happens next. hey, griff. >> hey, jillian and rob, that's right, republicans are making progress and the house did their part yesterday passing tax reform, 227-205 as speaker ryan gave a passionate reminder of what it's all about.

>> it's about tax relief and it's about fairness, it's about simplicity, it's about easing the stress and an site any that's in the country. >> and president trump applauding them on twit ir. congratulations to the house of representatives for passing the #tax cuts jobs act, big step toward delivering tax cuts to the american people. all 13 republicans voted against it all from high-taxed states, new jersey new york, new jersey, state of california and no democrat voted for it. now it's the senate's turn. mitch mcconnell says that when the senate returns back to thanksgiving he will bring much-pass legislation calling it imperative for the nation but don't call on democrats to support it. ron had this to say. >> republicans are going to test the limits of exactly how many different ways hard-working

americans can be forced to pony up vast sums for corporate handouts. >> can they get there with the razor-thin majority, they can only afford two votes, it won't be easy and threets one republican senator ron johnson is currently a no, three others collins and corker are on the fence. a lot of work to do and hurdles in the way. >> all right, griff, we will see what's to come. rob: yeah. jillian: what's the next step for congress on tax reform and what could this mean on the middle class? rob: king's college brian brendberg. just to clarify what we said, the senate finance committee has approved the senate's version of the bill not the full senate. that's the big first step. now we work on the senate. >> the house passed the whole thing, the senate finance committee has passed theirs, it has to go through whole senate. that's a big hurdle.

step one is done with the house, step two, we saw with obamacare, step two is very big because the margin is so thin in the senate. jillian: what do you see being the big hurdle in step two? >> you have ron johnson right now saying that tax cuts for small businesses are too small. they have to fix that, on the other hand, you the deficit hawks, corker, flake who are say if this thing is going to add to deficit, we are not going to support it. a way to apiece both parties and you have the x factor, susan sol line who is will probably not be happy if it includes obamacare repeal. rob: everybody is so selfish, they can't just come together. [laughter] rob: everybody has their own thing that they want to do. democrats and republicans in completely two different tunes. one side saying it's great and the other saying it's evil, when the democrats say this is going to raise taxes on millions of middle-class americans, are they

talking about losing state and local tax deduction. is that where they are getting it? rob: yeah, exactly. it's the loss of deductions in the biggest one is state and local tax deduction. that is going to hit people, people in blue states like new jersey, like new york, like california. that's exactly what they are going after. for most americans -- for the vast majority of americans are going to see a tack cut, people in those states depending where you are on income scale, you might see taxes go up a little bit. even better than that, this is the point that we missed. economists like me love to talk about this, tax cuts in small corporations are the kinds of things that drive new hiring and wages hirer. forget about tax bill for a second, think about your paycheck, big tax cut for corporations, they are investing in the united states, you see wages go up. jillian: corporate tax rate 20

from 35 which is right now. brian: the rest of the world is moving in that direction. that encourages companies to get out here. what we are saying, come back, invest here not because we are making you because it's an attractive place. rob: get the gdp going to the point where we are not embarrassing like undeveloped nation. let's talk about the carried interest loophole. i'm a capitalist, i hate high taxes, this is something that you have the richest people in the country get get away with murder on taxes even the president said he wanted to do away with this, they didn't get it in the house plan, why not? >> by the way, you continue to see them move in this directionment one of the situations that guys working at hedge funds are paying lower tax rate that they would otherwise be if you counted income as normal income. it's more -- it's not going to be a huge revenue gain in terms of tax reform but symbolic thing, i think you will see a move in that direction as senate and house come together. they have to reconcile their bills, when they do, things can

i see where that's warranted. in this case we are talking about a deserter. rob: he set himself up for him. i can't imagine that he thinks he deserves it either. let's look at this letter here from members of congress to the army, it says as members of congress committed to our servicemen, servicewomen and veterans, we understand the incredibly sack -- sacrifice with those in uniform. it's our firm belief that private bergdahl should not be awarded back day. he was convicted of the war crimes, misbehavior before the enemy, desertion, i can't imagine that you think or anybody think he's really going to get this money, do you? >> well, look, they are reviewing that and right now i believe it's in the hands of forcing commander general abrams. i think he will have the opportunity to not only review verdict of the court which was a bench trial as opposed to jury trial and i could get into that but maybe we will save that for another time but the point is

this still has to be reviewed by general abrams and they will mick a determination as to whether or not he's entitled to any benefits, also keep in mind that they are even considering him for a pow medal. so, again, we've got a lot of problems here and this seems to be systematic throughout the department of defense and i don't want to malign the military, but this department of defies and army in particularly does not resemble the army that i served in. jillian: what miami do you think this sends to other servicemen and women that he could potentially be receiving all of this money? >> well, look, i just wrote a piece on the blog on veterans day that underscored the social contract that we have with our veterans, but our military has a social contract as well and most men and women who serve in the military honor that contract in good faith, this is an individual who broke that contract and he left his brothers an sisters in arms and he broke with the chain of command, he broke faith with his

brothers in arms and there's no honor in that at all. rob: so you just said something they thought was interesting. i have a deep respect for the u.s. military and you just said that this is not the same department of defense that you worked under. do you think it's spinning back in the right direction, though, under mattis' leadership, would he be able to come in and make impact and say, there's no way you are going to give this guy $300,000 because he seems to be more pragmatic about the needs of the military? >> absolutely he has the authority to and obviously this has to be followed but the chain of command and i believe commander general abrams, i believe, is the next step in upholding the verdict that was rendered in the court marshal, but, i mean, look, i'm a military brat, my dad served in the military and i served myself and i'm very well acquainted with the way the military works and seems over the last

together, the characters have so much fun, the action scenes are amazing, the introductions are incredible, wonder women introduction, i love when the entire justice league is fighting at the same time, there are four scenes in this films that are worth the entire price of admission because the action is so incredibly well done. i love the flash, on the negative front i will say the opening scene of the film is a little bit weak, the opening song used an opening credit is a little weak as well and some of the dialogue is a little cheesy. the villain is very mediocre but the purpose assembling the team. this is the craziest thing i have heard in a long time. they had to do reshoots after the original film maker left the project due to family issue. gentleman who plays superman was filming another movie at the time of the reshoot and grew a massive mustache for the role in
