thanks to my panel. thanks to you for watching, i'm paul gigot. i hope to see you next week. ♪ >> the white house facing new scrutiny over russia. senate investigators now accusing president trump's son-in-law and adviser jared kushner of fail to go hand over emails about wikileaks and proposed back door communications with moscow. welcome to a new hour inside america's news headquarters, i'm julie banderas. leland: feeling like winter fall. happy saturday to you, i'm leland vittert. kushner's attorney hitting back accusing lawmakers of playing, quote, got you, while arguing that kushner had been transparent during six hours of voluntary testimony.
1:01 pm
julie: kristin fisher is following all of this from the white house. boy, the president keeps you busy on the weekend. how is kushner responding to these accusations? >> well, julie, kushner's attorney says that there are no missing documents. the client has been forth coming with the committee and also accusing the senate judiciary committee of taking their complaints to the media first before bringing them to kushner and his legal team. so they put out a statement last night that reads in part, quote, mr. kushner had no contacts with the organization and that organization would be wikileaks, one of the organizations or one of the emails that mr. kushner is accused of not handing over to the committee and was along with others forwarded an e-mail from donald trump, jr., widely reported and disseminated. no new document concerning mr. kushner. but the top republican and democrat on the senate judiciary committee says that the collection of documents that kushner has provided the committee is incomplete and they
1:02 pm
know this because of emails that other campaign officials have turned over. kushner now has until, i believe, november 23rd, to hand over those missing documents to the committee, now, this is also been a big week for attorney general jeff sessions, remember, he was up on tap toll hill testifying again on tuesday, but he seemed to have no problem making about it in event last night in dc, listen here. >> i just was thinking, you know, when i ask, is ambassador kisilay in the room before i get started, any russians? [laughter] [applause] >> anybody been to russia?
1:03 pm
do you have a cousin in russia or something? >> the attorney general clearly has not lost sense of humor despite ongoing investigations and indictments that came down a few weeks ago from special counsel, julie. julie: there's renewed friction between president trump and hillary clinton, where is this coming from? >> so this all stems from an interview that hillary clinton did last night. it was a radio interview and in this interview she defends senator franekn because he apologized for his alleged sexual misconduct but attacks roy moore and the president. listen to this. >> we have a man whose accused of sexual assault sitting in the oval office, don't we, the very credible accusations against him have not been taken seriously, so i think that the republicans have a big problem that they're going to have to address and it's not just confine today what has happened in alabama.
1:04 pm
>> president trump responded on twitter by calling her the worst loser of all time. his press secretary, though, she made a big more pointed distinct between the accusers against franken and accusers against president trump from back in the campaign and here is why. >> i think in one case specifically senator franken has admitted wrongdoing and the president hasn't, that's a clear distinction. >> the white house continue to go defend president trump, as for moore, the white house press secretary huckabee sanders says that president trump believes that he should step aside if the allegations are true. back to you. >> all right, kristin fisher, thank you, leland. legal lee we will get back to top of kristin's report, new allegations of jared kushner, erin elmore, thanks for coming in on a saturday. >> happy to.
1:05 pm
>> glad to have you, a senior former member of the justice department referred to it like this, all democrats want is to get the word russia, the word e-mail and the name of some senior trump official in the same sentence, they don't really care about the verbs but they feel as though this is simply a winning political strategy whether there's anything criminal there or not, fair? >> this is something president trump has brushed off as hoax and witch hunt and his administration has come to say there's nothing there. the problem is that robert mueller, special counsel, are turning up evidence that at the very at least trump administration contradicted statements, left out security or first testified in front of congress or made statements but either the information was incomplete or some of it turned out to be untrue. leland: fair to say in washington the line is it's never the crime but the cover-up that gets you in trouble.
1:06 pm
the question, it's a valid question whether there was an underlying crime, and so far nothing has shown that there was an underlying crime aside from manafort possibly being indicted for things happening long before the campaign. >> manafort and gates are indictmented. but what that endeavor robert mueller, what investigation can investigators extract that might put pressure on trump campaign official or trump administration officials that has to do with russia. the question is what hasn't been charged so far but what's next to come. leland: that's an important question, the name mike flynn the next person to come if indicted f that happens, what does that open up for mueller? what does he know perhaps that
1:07 pm
manafort and gates may have been further away from? >> look to what has happened in the past. they were able to get information from george papadopoulos, that enabled them to say, well, we see now that there are new connections here, that there was a meeting proposed, there was an example made here of either a meeting that intended to happen or some contacts that wanted to be linked to the trump campaign that let's them go back to other people in the campaign, well, we have evidence now that you knew of this. leland: lu let's go back to the beginning, evidence of what, evidence of simply having meetings unless you want to try to have prosecute somebody under the logan act which hasn't been done since 1700's. well, there were emails between these people. again, not a crime. what are you hearing as the possible crime other than the cover-up, what's the underlying crime they are trying to get at?
1:08 pm
>> big question, did the trump campaign coordinate with russia to influence the election. there are so many different parts to that question, leland. leland: coordination, collusion, those aren't crimes? what would the crime be that they're looking at? has anybody been able to articulate that? >> they are looking to see what the connections were between trump campaign officials and people in russia. that connection can be an offer for help f accepted that was problematic, a meeting that was staged in order to give information over, that's problematic. leland: what would be the charged what do they want these people to be charged with if those things happened? >> i'm not sure democrats. i know this has become political flash point on capitol hill and has divided among party lines but the intelligence community has come forward to say that russia interfeud in the u.s. election, the question is did
1:09 pm
trump officials in the trump campaign know about it? >> great having you, thanks, erin. julie. julie: congressional republicans gaining momentum in push to pass tax reform before the end of the year. in fact, the house this week approving a gop plan as the senate panel approved a separate version, but as the senate bill heads to the floor, some republicans are saying that they are just not sure they can support it, caroline has more from washington. >> the senate finance committee passed reform thursday night and senate majority leader mitch mcconnell will take it to the floor after thanksgiving. big question now, can he get it approved. he needs almost every republican to do it and today he's missing about six, they are not solid no's, wisconsin senator johnson can't vote in current form but wants to fix it, bob corker, john mccain and susan collins and rand paul had major concerns, no democrats expect
1:10 pm
today vote yes. >> we are still confident that we will get the package passed and we would like to see some democrats come on board and support this historic piece of legislation. >> how does that mean getting in the senate? >> there's always hope. >> both house and senate bills cut corporate tax rate to 35 to 20% and give individuals tax cuts. the senate version also repeals the individual mandate of obamacare and sunsets individual reductions. >> the people's taxes are the rich people in high-taxed states. there's a lot of benefit to new york economy. >> neither is true. they never have. >> the president wants a bill on his desk by christmas.
1:11 pm
>> thank you, leland. >> this could play a lot into whether or not the senate meets dead lynn to christmas to pass the bill. alabama senate candidate roy moore refusing to exit the upcoming special election amid allegations of sexual misconduct, moore calling on gloria alred to release high school year book that she claims is evidence in the allegations. peter doocy live in birmingham, alabama. doug jones, competitor, trying to turn the tables and going after moore on this? >> it's interesting, leland, i had a chance a few hours ago to ask doug jones what he thinks of moore and allies trying to cast him in this case as an ultra-liberal just like president trump and when i asked
1:12 pm
him, he laughed. [laughter] >> well, that's -- that's pretty absurd. you know, that's their only hope. look, they are in desperation mode right now. they are trying to flip stuff back. you look at the positions i've got on health care, if you look at positions i've got on jobs, if you're looking on the support from the business community, i'm mainstream, i want to reach across the aisle and talk to a lot of people, i don't care what he says about me. >> jones says he's a moderate but he has 180-degree position from something that helped president trump get elected here in the state by a wide margin and that's immigration, i asked if a border wall should be built, he said, no, it's too expensive. 150 turned out to see doug jones at fish fry and a group of religious leaders supporting the democrats made clear that they think the allegations against republican roy moore are more serious than the allegations against democratic senator al
1:13 pm
franken. >> al franken admitted, apologized and asked for assessment and put amends, roy moore, has lied and lied and lied, he has not done anything, anything. >> so far surrogates are going after republican roy moore a lot more than the actual candidate is unless of course he is asked questions, leland. leland: noteworthy for sure. all right, peter, you have a lot of republicans in washington really lambasting moore saying he needs to drop out, he's unfit. if they make it to the senate, they will try to throw him out. maybe not seat him. the president not being as tough about it. a big divide between republicans in washington and republicans in alabama, fair? >> today we saw a group of faith leaders here in alabama come to moore's defense including pastor david floyd who told alabama.com
1:14 pm
this, i don't believe those women. in this country you're guilty -- not guilty until proven guilty. >> i would cast my ballot on december the 12th and i do believe that the nominee of the party is the one that i will vote for. i believe in the republican party and what we stand for and most important we need to have a republican in the united states senate to vote on the things like supreme court justices, other appointments that the senate has to confirm and make major decisions and so that's -- that's what i plan to do is vote for the republican nominee roy moore. >> we haven't seen roy moore since thursday, we don't know about any campaign events that he had today or tomorrow. leland: real quick before we go, peter, at the doug jones event that you were at and followed
1:15 pm
him around in the last couple of days, are you reading any republicans who say, well, now i'm open to talking to jones or is it just sort of him energizing the democrats that there are in alabama? >> perfect example of this, leland. a little while ago as the event was breaking down i met a guy who say that is he was in jones' fraternity in college and really wants to vote for him because of the personal connection but he's having a really hard time just with the thought of possibly voting for a democrat, even somebody who he has known for years, i last time the last time he saw jones and he said at college reunion. there are some life-long republicans that are curious and turned out to the event but it's not easy for them. leland: we will see what moore's will do to counter that. busy weekend coming up for you, thanks, peter. >> thanks. julie: tax reform moves to the senate where 7gop lawmakers are raising red flags, can

it. i'm excited. i'm overwhelmed. [singing] >> that to me is what's amazing. leland: reports from inside country say mugabe is negotiating terms of exit, he could be force today step down as soon as tomorrow, julie. julie: well, senate plans to take up its version of the tax reform plan right after thanksgiving break. the house as you know this week passes bill and both chambers of congress are hoping to have the final legislation on the president's desk before christmas. that'll be here before you know it and a handful of republican holdouts are still holding out in the senate and could derail those efforts, joining me now is congressman walker of north carolina who is a chairman of the republican study committee. we are having issues with our video signal so we apologize because we have mark walker on camera, however, the video signal is terrible. so we can hear him at least, hi,
1:22 pm
congressman. >> hello, julie, hope you're doing well today. julie: i am too, i'm sorry we can't see you but we have a lovely picture on the screen. it seems like it's right around the corner. not a lot of time. >> i do. and i believe that we have to, there's urgency that we are hearing from americans, from coast to coast, we believe and we hope that the senate feels the same urgency so we are confident this can get done by the end of the year. julie: there are still handful of republican holdouts, ron johnson said it's a no, and susan collinses has reservations about the plan and the party saying that the party's attempting to pass it so quickly and the last thing republicans want is a repeat of health care in the senate. so is tax reform being rushed? >> no, it's not. chairman kevin brady in ways and means and the entire committee
1:23 pm
has been working calendar 2017. the ways and means never took a break, they continue to work on this and the big difference is that the rollout and framework was already worked upon with people on the senate individuals from the administration, the white house as well as as own house, congress, we made sure that we get out of the gate with much -- that's why we are seeing, there's no case to be made that this has been rushed. this is incredible tax relief for people across the country in north carolina, it's $2,400 per household. and think about this, if i could get a couple seconds on this, comparison to what, the obama administration took over $800 billion of taxpayers money to try to create a stimulus for the economy. it didn't work, in fact, none of those eight years did we ever reach 3% growth, you have to go back to the great depression, the longest stretch was four years but in the 80's when there was tax reform, when there was a different process of
1:24 pm
governing, we had 3% growth 7 of the eight years that ronald reagan was president. why wouldn't we want to go back and incorporate the same tax reform? julie: something else that puzzles me, opponents of the bill among republicans an democrats, one to have biggest hang-ups, the repeal of mandate which would $430 billion to make wave, what i don't get, why were republican who is were once so opposed to the mandate, the individual mandate that was put in place by obamacare which basically forced americans to sign up or be penalized, why are they now so oppose today repealing the most unpopular provision under obamacare? >> this is a great mystery. we are not going to take no for an answer even if we have to greatly coerce members. only piece of federal legislation in history that requires americans to purchase a product from a private industry.
1:25 pm
that's not government's job, so we believe and we hope, the republican study committee with 157 members, we are overwhelming in support of making sure, in fact, vice president mike pence said on thursday that he believes that repealing the individual mandate should be part of this. taking that $340 billion and putting back into stimulating the economy. julie: i have to go but i have to ask you one more, like most americans, i don't own a corporation, so when americans hear about corporate tax reform, your first question maybe, how is this going to impact my taxes every year? explain how that helps the average american. perfect question, julie. the central nervous system of the entire progrowth that we are talking about. when your local communities and your businesses are hiring 10 to 15 employees, 3 or 400 employees, when they are able to bring more jobs or create more wealth in those communities, ultimately, it provides more jobs, going from the highest rate in the industrialized country down to below median
1:26 pm
average. >> 35% to 20%. >> it's incredible and for people to push back, even some of our democratic friends, they're having a tough time making this argument against that because specifically ultimately for north carolina that's 30,000 new jobs and many more across the country. julie: that's all the time we have. congressman, great to hear you and hopefully we will see you next time. >> thank you, julie. julie: chris wallace will speak exclusively with treasury secretary steve mnuchin and you can catch the interview right here on fox news channel. check your local listings. leland: massive underway for a killer of a police officer. >> i'm asking anybody, anybody, with any information, as minute they think it might be, please, please give us a call, we need to find the person that did this. leland: understandably emotional police chief after officer was gunned down in line of duty, the

latest on two manhunts for cop killers coming up. plus, more allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced among politicians, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are speaking out. but are they putting party over principle? >> considering all the information that you have certainly it has an impact but at the same time the united states senate needs to have in my opinion the majority of republican votes.

leland: spiraling allegation of sexual misconduct prompts lawmakers on both sides to defend members on -- while pouncing opposition. governor now pledging support despite admitted that moore's accusers have credibility. >> i certainly don't have any reason to disbelieve them. the time is curious. we need to have a republican in the united states senate to vote on the things like supreme court justices, other opponents that the senate has to confirm and make major decisions, so that's what i plan to do is vote for republican nominee roy moore. leland: meanwhile a self-described feminist pundit describing that senator al franken should not step down despite a woman kissing and

because everything has been weponized at this point whether sexual assault, whether it be the special prosecutor, everything becomes political. i don't have kids yet but one day i want to have kids and raise them in a world where they feel that their opinions will be valued and not harassed and tone and tenure of the country has gotten disgusting. leland: jennifer it was asked, at long last have you no decency, have you we lost the sense of right and wrong in america because seems as though there's no shame anymore in hypocrisy? >> unfortunately that does appear to be the case and i agree with michael, we shouldn't be evaluating as democrats, republicans but as mothers, daughters, sisters and fathers and brothers. leland: fair to agree with them. but why are we -- seem okay to evaluate solely through partisan
1:37 pm
lens? >> i think that's always been around. don't forget when you had bill clinton, there was no democrats at that time calling for him to resign. so i don't think it's changed. i think that things have gotten more partisan, but i do think i have a solution which is that neither moore nor franke need to resign because that resigning would be too good for them, i don't want them to step down. i would like to see them taken down. but instead of doing that, i think that we have a third-party moment and the third-parties can be the pervert's party that way moore and franken don't have to step back, they can change the party affiliation. leland: well, we will see if any of them are listening, this is a new one. i had not heard that yet. i want to get to what you're saying vis-a-vis the clinton, this is what kristin gillibrand had to say yesterday.
1:38 pm
listen to this and i will get your reaction. >> is it your views that president clinton should have stepped down at the time given the snealings. >> yes, i think that's the appropriate response but i think things have changed today and i think under both circumstances there should be a very different reaction. leland: she believes if allegations against clinton were made now he should step down. although she didn't have seem to have any issues in the clintons nine months ago when she was campaigning with them. so what gives? >> yeah, i mean, this is kind of exactly what you're talking about. i will let kristin gillibrand reiterate the whole era. if a democrat does something wrong, or a republican does something wrong, we need to hold people accountable. we lost the idea of faith in government and institution because of this kind of
1:39 pm
behavior. more than anything else, more than, you know, the russia investigation, more than anything else, over the holiday season we need to take time to know who we are as americans, donald trump won't always be the president. they'll be a democrat at some point and this has to be bigger than party politics, this has to be about who we are about. leland: okay, fair. jennifer, i was going to ask you, okay, but who is going to take the first step because it seems as though when anybody inserts any dye kenningy they pay enormous price for it? >> i think that both parties need to think not just no short-term political gains but they need to think about long-term. frankly, i think it's a silver lining if all of this causes americans to lose faith in government. why should they have faith in government to begin with and i also think it's positive that we are increasing the social penalties for men to behave as pigs. i think it's positive although i
1:40 pm
do think that rather than just having a approach that we should be talking about women can do themselves to take responsibility and help to prevent this from happening and deal with it when it happens and move beyond it when it happens. >> i will say i agree with you on that. the fact that the conversation has become national. i think that's a good thing for the country. as we move forward women will be more open to speak about it and hopefully men will be more responsible and exhibit self-control and basic humanity. >> we can all hope, it's the season for it. we appreciate you guys being here. thanks so much. >> thank you. julie: diplomatic setback in syria in search to hold those accountable those using chemical weapons. >> russia will not agree to any mechanism that might shine a spotlight on the use of chemical weapons by its allies the syrian regime.

situation? >> well, ambassador is right, there's no defense for the russian veto, on the other hand, you could also point out that most of the killing in syria is not from chemical weapons, it's from bashar al-assad, bombing neighborhoods, apartment buildings with, you know, simple ordinance laced with nails and other such, you know, weapons, dropped out of helicopters on innocent people, this has been an unbelievable violent war, half a million people have died and just a staggering about 12 million have been displaced. as you know, president trump has said, listen, let's prioritize, we have to defeat isis, that's got to be our top goal and that's sort of what's been happening during 2017 which should be gone in the latter months of the obama administration, but we are at a turning point. if we give the green light to assad what he will do is keep on attacking and try to go after the kurds and others, some of the people who have helped defeat isis. he wants his whole country back
