remember, when you invest in stocks, you are investing in the future. the market itself is building gains that things it will have an in the months to come. and right now things have been good. the economy has a three percent clip which is an increase. the business environment is certainly more friendly. with the trumpet in addition, a lot of my clients are happy about that. confidence is up for consumers. business confidence is up. investment confidence is up. interest rates are relatively low, inflation is relatively low, unemployment is relatively low. numbers are good. and my speed to 70 people, sometimes i cannot make sense of the stock market, this market kind of makes sense when you consider where the economy is right now. >> certainly, i do not want to be a debbie downer. but when things are good, a crash or perhaps a correction usually is a near future. is that the case? >> i am a certified public accountant. it is my job to be a debbie downer.

whenever i look at things that are going on i'm always trying to look at what are the risks here and where should we be advising our clients? there are certainly risks out there. i do not foresee and most analysts do not foresee some type of event crash happening in 2018. but it is not out of the realm to expect a correction of 10 to 20 percent. there's a lot of factors out of our control. in the american economy.look at china for example. they just the $133 million into the economy last week. to try and shore up liquidity. their huge debt issues. china is a world second biggest economy and do you remember back in early january, 2016, the chinese market dropped by 18 percent over a few weeks for the american market dropped by eight percent. in today's numbers, that can be a 2000 point drop. china is a perfect example of something that could go wrong.

and then have an impact on race. of course then there are other international things good at war with north korea would have a big issue for us. a spike in oil prices that is not forcing to have a problem. even tax reform. right now a lot of my clients and investors are building in more profitability in 2018. because there's and hopefully a reduction in taxes with the congressional tax reform. if that does not happen in the senate in the next few weeks i think you will have a big impact on the market. all of those factors in general. a few of them we are not talking about. anything like that can happen. i just do not expect a giant drop. but a correction is not out of the realm. >> that is good! corrections i guess do happen. and they are for good reason. >> they are. i can tell you this much. when i talked to clients, unless you are an individual stock market, and you are working on the markets and i do not know you that well but i am assuming you not and neither

folks in las vegas looking to score more than just a great deal on black friday. some linda for hours outside of pot dispensaries. a store hooking up or should i say, hookah -ing up shoppers. this is the general public over 21 and over can buy pot, not just those with a marijuana card. today's small business saturday. brian has been checking with small businesses but here in new york city. what you have there? >> small business saturday was started in part by american express founding in 2010 after the recession to help small businesses get back on their feet. remember, 40 presented jobs lost in the recession in 2000 july 3, 2009 were in small business. but now small business saturday

has been doing really well since 2010. this year for insurance at the astoria bookstore another sales away above already last year. they still have a few hours left open. the owner of this bookshop here spoke to us about how she sees two or three times a sales on small business saturday and how great it is to start holiday shopping on this day. >> to depend on people and reading a book a day is not enough to pay the rent. you need to give them an excuse to come in. sometimes it is small business saturday. sometimes it is meeting with a local author or local kids at storytime. we host a very busy calendar. >> the president to vaccinate a great day to support local economy. the economy is doing well. sales this weekend expected to be strung across the board. the court is about consumers are planning on going to one or more small businesses as part of their holiday shopping.

as demand is used to dealing with large many employed organizations. so this is a very huge task that he brought himself to try and push through. >> if he is successful, and the state department is much smaller than it used to be, can it still carry out the core functions of people expect of our diplomatic ranks? >> you cover the state department for years. i remember working on stories with you about the state department. much of a deep approbation about diplomats and how many ways they are the front line and in defense and the offense of line in trying to avoid a deeper conflict that can happen. they are essential. there absolutely vital to the national security. absolutely vital to the impression of the united states worldwide. they are essential. you asked a very important question. we have to get the numbers right. we have to make sure that there have been claims that rex tillerson is out to gut the

state department. let's look at what they outcome is going to be of this redesign and then take things from there. >> is one thing for the secretary to want to trim the ranks to get rid of a lot of positions he feel so duplicative. he got rid of special envoys and special ambassadors. but if you look at the new york times article says the initiation is yet to nominate a diplomat for east asia or an investor to south korea. there is no confirmed assistant secretary for near eastern affairs. as a middle east region of the state department. there is no confirmed ambassador to saudi arabia, turkey, jordan, egypt or qatar. is that part of the redesign? >> it is not. although there will be a revamping i'm not privy exactly to that point in the redesign and deliberations that are going on. we're going to want and ambassador to saudi arabia. a couple of things are at play here. there are accuracies and there

are also things are nuanced that are not included in that. in that report. one thing that is very important to bear in mind that there are several dozen appointees that are awaiting confirmation. in congress. you know having cover the state department that it is not as if you appoint someone and lo and behold next week there in there doing their job. it is a very long process of vetting that goes through. and it can take weeks or months to get a person in there. as i said, there are a couple of dozen people waiting to get that final green light to be able to take up their positions. when that happens, then you will see a balancing out of the statistics that you read a new york times article for instance. and what you saw some numbers that look like they were very large disparities but actually it is going to balance out to a large extent. >> so far we have to tap your expertise about the state department and how it works. now behold friends i will

torment you. you worked with the un ambassador nikki haley during the early part of her tenure there. it is mentioned a lot of times that she potentially could succeed rex tillerson if for some reason he would not serve out his full term as secretary of state. what you make of all that talk? >> it is not the first time have controversy between ambassadors and secretaries of state. it happened during the time of madeleine albright, during with kissinger and we have to understand things in the context of history. as a history so important james. the truth is, they both have huge jobs. nikki haley has to deal with 193 member states of the united nations for action hundred 92. 193 in the united states included. that is a big test. she has to deal with a variety of conflicts and issues that the un tackles and security council, the general assembly and other policy issues that come up.
