hill, thank you for being with us today. a lot of breaking news this morning. one a survey asking what you think about the announcement that he's going to be stepping down from the judiciary committee as the ethics investigation unfolds. >> i think it's the only move to be honest. john conyers was in an untenable position. yes he does deny the substance of his allegations but as he pointed out in your introduction and 30 settled the case in 2015 that pertain to the issue. these are credible allegations. no possible way for him to stay in place. kristin: what you think about what nancy pelosi said earlier. this news right before the news broke that conyers is stepping down. she called conyers an american icon and whether or not she believes the accuser's comments up to the ethics committee to review. was that appropriate for her to

10:07 am
that's one of the problems here. because of the allegations we've heard not just in politics but other areas, the idea of there being secret settlements essentially isn't one that can move forward. there is some degree of bipartisan work to change that so that taxpayer money cannot be used to settle cases in secrecy and mystery. that is just not tenable. kristin: president trump called for unmasking of the names of congressmen and women who settled using taxpayer funding. senator franken to speak after it became public. what do you think you should say? >> i assume it's going to apologize for some degree he seems to want to deny u.s.
