collection of salacious and unverified material about mr. trump and his associates. republican lawmakers want to know whether the democratic funded dossier was used to obtain a warrant for fisa surveillance on carter page. during a hearing this morning, republican jim jordan of ohio but the question bluntly to the new fbi director, christopher wray. >> the democrat national committee and the clinton campaign which we now know where one of the same, paid the law firm who paid fusion ups who paid christopher steele who then paid russians. to put together a report we call a dossier full of all kinds of fake news, national inquirer garbage. it's been reported that this dossier was all dressed up by the fbi, taken to the fisa court and presented as a legitimate intelligence document, it became the basis of granting a warrant to spy on americans.
8:13 pm
i'm wondering. i'm wondering if that took place. >> our staffs have been having extensive interaction with both intelligence committees on our interaction with the fisa court. it's an appropriate setting for those questions. >> they do motion of bruce ohr follows similar revelations this week about peter strzok, the fbi official removed from the staff of special counsel robert mueller in july following discovery of anti-trump text messages. strzok has played critical roles in three cases. the clinton email interrogation, the dossier, and the russia probe. >> shannon: we are joined by jim jordan. you had a busy day today. do you think you will get the answer from the fbi about whether the dirty dossier was used as a means to get a warrant

was -- clinton campaign paying fusion gps paying christopher steele paying russians for a bunch of baloney they turn into an intelligence document. they get a warrant to spy on americans. really? potentially christopher steele was also, it's been reported, paid by the fbi. all this goes on and peter strzok is dismissed from the mueller team. he ran the investigation. it starts to point to this idea that the government was working with one major political party to go after the other party's nominee and that's not fair to mr. trump, president trump. that's not fair to, it's not how it's supposed to work. >> shannon: do you think you will get an opportunity to question mr. strzok? >> i hope so. my guess is his fingerprints are all over this application. he was the deputy head of counterintelligence at the fbi. he's probably one of the key guys and all the applications they go to the fisa court. i want to question him. we have mr. rosenstein next wee

week. there are lots of questions. give us the documents. prove us wrong. >> shannon: one of your colleagues across the aisle said these attacks and accusations about the fbi are politically motivated. >> i predicted these attacks on the fbi will grow louder and more brazen as the special counsel does his work in the walls closing around the president with evidence of his help section and other misdeeds. >> shannon: is that with the tough questions are about? >> they're going to grow louder because. think of peter strzok, head of counterintelligence at the fbi, ran the clinton investigation. he is the guy who changed the exoneration letter from director comey from gross negligence which is a crime to extreme carelessness. he interviewed mike flynn. he gets picked by bob mueller
8:17 pm
and then gets kicked off for text messages. come on. there has to be more. if you kicked everyone off who is anti-trump, there wouldn't be anyone left on the mueller team. >> shannon: do you think it's fair? i want to put up a poll from cbs asking people whether they think it's a justified investigation. there's a higher number of people who think it's politically motivated. 48% say they think that's actually what this russian investigation is about. >> doesn't surprise me. people with common sense can look at this, all we learned with mr. ohr, mr. strzok, the dossier and the clinton campaign. all we've learned. i found we were supposed to be investigating possible coordination between the trump campaign and russians to influence the election. >> shannon: have you seen any? >> no. we know the clinton campaign paid russians to do what? influence the election. americans are sharp people, common sense.
8:18 pm
this doesn't add up. each and every day we get more information which confirms something's wrong here. something smells bad here. let's get the answers. the best way to get the answers is for the fbi to give us the application. >> shannon: we were expecting the resignation of senator franken today. were you surprised by the resignation of your colleague, congressman franks? >> we were. trent is a good man. did not know about this. i haven't seen his statement. he told us on the house floor tonight that there would be a statement. i will take a look at his statement and talk more with him next week. >> shannon: a lot of concern with multiple cases out there. thank you for making time for us. good to see you. come back anytime. a government shutdown averted for now. the house and senate passed a temporary spending bill that means the government will be funded through december 22.
