message in this robo call is clear. he views this as a referendum on his agenda and he also wants to keep his alabama senate seat in republican hands. as for the more campaign there they are planning on holding a rally with roy moore and former white house chief strategist steve bannon who is been a supporter of roy moore since the early days of the campaign. that rally taking place tomorrow in the southern portion of the state but not all republicans are on board including alabama senator richard shelby. listen. >> i'd rather see as a republican win but i hope that republican would be a right and. i couldn't vote for roy moore and i didn't vote for roy moore. reporter: shelby says he voted for a write in candidate and would not reveal the name. the more campaign is trying to rally social conservatives by

campaign event that just wrapped up here in birmingham but the democratic candidate in the senate race, jones, seemed like the most important thing to him was just being out and about and among potential voters because he said that he wanted everyone to know was doing that and judge roy moore was not. judge moore is running as an outsider candidate but jones has been welcoming the support of insiders from the democratic ranks so i asked him if that means he is trying to establish himself as the insider candidate. >> i'm running as doug jones. i'm running as someone who i don't label myself. i'm running this campaign and it's the same campaign that i've been running since may, talking about the same issues, other people camped in labels but i'm not labeling him other than he is running as an outsider. i think he's outside the alabama mainstream. reporter: the jones campaign is really trying to get the african-american vote motivated

in this race and that's why he's spending so much time in the birmingham area. that's also why for the second day in a row he's traveling with cory booker. i had a chance to ask senator booker why out of all the special elections this year he bought a lawmaker from new jersey could have the biggest impact in this one. >> listen, sir. you can say whatever you want about folks. my roots go into the state and my family were coal miners in the state of alabama and i owe a debt to alabama and i can't pay it back. those generations have passed but i can't pay it forward. i'm here to talk and to pay the debt i owe to the state. reporter: the jones campaign also has a pair of new web ads out this afternoon featuring that clip of the republican alabama senator richard shelby saying that he did not vote for roy moore but what is remarkable about the jones campaign using that is that shelby didn't say he voted for jones, he said that he wrote in a republican inste

general election come out and make allegations and appear on the political advertisement when they waited 40 years not to be embarrassed. >> untrained. arthel: 20 me now is the host of boys of alabama politics conducted that exclusive interview. first of all, how did you get access and which under and what. >> you most about your interview? >> i've interviewed mr. moore probably 15 or more times during his career and i also recently interviewed doug jones on our show and judge moore invited them both back for what i called a final argument and mr. jones do not accept our invitation. mr. moore did and simply i just asked they know me and i've been around a long time and all will be fair with everyone. i was shocked, not shocked, but

let me say i'm surprised at how cold he was. really. this has been a firestorm for the moore campaign and they were quite calm and somewhat relaxed and that was good for us. not something i was expecting. arthel: i want to play a couple of clips from your interview and let's talk about that. play the clip. >> i have written cards, graduation cards, i have known families, i've known a lot of people throughout my life but these allegations are completely false. i did not date underage women. i did not molest anyone. arthel: of course, you are sitting there with mr. moore and how did you feel? did you feel he was being sincere with you? >> i did. i really did. again, i've interviewed him on several occasions and i found him to be resolute and stern in his answers.

surprised to hear from him in you seem to be committed to his stance on what did or did not happen regarding those allegations. >> again, i didn't find anything unusual in his demeanor or the way he spoke with me or in the past. we chatted a little bit beforehand, a little "after words" and you know, he's in campaign mode. the people of alabama have known roy moore for a long time and he is a polarizing figure and he's been fully embraced by the gop down here and he certainly never been embraced by the democrats in so i think this is a big polarizing election and i think on tuesday i'd love to say it would be over but it will not be over. arthel: of course, president trump has come out in full support behind roy moore as well as the van and will be there tomorrow and in a drain the

swamp rally down there. do you think their support will help mr. moore on tuesday? >> you know, the president is very popular in alabama and the people of the president down here so yes, it helps that he has endorsed him fully embraced him. that means a lot to folks. when he embraced luther strange it was not so much but it didn't move the needle much but i think the cake is already baked. steve van and, you know, that's a nice show to see but i don't know that influences voters. arthel: finally, you said that it ain't over come tuesday. what do you mean by that is what happens after the election and the polls close and the candidate is chosen, what happens next? >> well, i think, what we heard in the clip before i came on. senator shelby says he doesn't

about it. this president said it's time. we think this will help us fastball the peace process going forward and that as u.s. ambassador to the un nikki haley defending president trump's decision to recognize jerusalem as israel's capital and relocate the u.s. embassy from tel aviv. the move sparking violent protests in the middle east and elsewhere as well as criticism from world leaders who call it a threat to the peace process. ambassador haley claims it will actually fastball the process. with me now is jonathan who is a former director of communications and spokesperson at the united states mission to the united nations, jonathan good to have you on such an important story. is ambassador haley right? >> it very well could turn out to be the way she thanks it is, that it will fastball things into a quicker peace process. we have to see where this goes. i beastly the jerusalem situation has historically, then a contentious issue. here we are smack in the middle of a very delicate

situation. >> you've had other presidential candidate saying they would talk about doing the same thing, now president trump is doing it, although it will take some time for physical move. not sure how long that would take. is now the right time, a better time or is it just as convoluted and confusing as it ever has been. >> for decades there has never been a right time to really do this. when is the right time. arguably you could say this is the worst possible time because there's so much going on including attempts to stop iran menacing in the middle east and working with our allies to make sure that is kept in check. this may add to the problem. this might be the right time to do it. maybe this is the time to insert something and some passion and push the sides to a peace treaty. >> with that being said, is

there an upside to moving the embassy from tel aviv to truce one? >> if you've been to jerusalem , i think you have. you feel that it's the capital of israel. it's the seat of government and all government buildings are there, it's filled with jewish people. it feels like the jewish state. now course of you over to the eastern sectors of the city and you move east of that, it becomes very rapidly arab in nature. so it has been recognized as a jewish capital and it makes a whole lot of sense. now there's a whole other party here with a lot of concerns in this game and they also have a narrative and a story and a desire to have a state of their own so we have to see where this goes. >> as we know, this has been a long fight fight to have a two state solution. palestinians want have their state, you've got israel there, the jewish people, is

it possible that perhaps democracy would prevail? and there would be one state? >> that is ultimately a very dangerous and slippery slope because of the demographic situation. there were times before the creation of is israel. before the palestinian state there was a place called palestine that was occupied by both. we have had warfare ever since and conflict when they both started to think about creating a state of their own. if we can push the clock backward and create a nice friendly environment giving all the history and the tension over the holy sites themselves, given the international communities actually unhelpful
