drying comparison to the top 25 college football pool. he said if we had question about how much polls like that matter we should ask nick. there also using a twitter account to promote an alabama.com editorial even though the editorial does not explicitly say to vote for jones. instead it says he will follow the example set by republican senator richard shelby and alabamians struggling with the decision could follow the path of these conservatives and right in the name, or they could consider the democratic candidate doug jones. they also have a pair of web ads out with shelby's comments but shelby never said but for doug jones. he just said don't vote for roy moore mouradian a conservative republican. >> and doug jones suggested roy moore isn't hiding. >> is in hiding. >> how much emphasis are the democrats putting on this race nationally.

two people are dead and two more injured after a small plane crashed into a home in california. the plane plowed into a san diego resident in the claremont neighborhood yesterday. black smoke and flames, we can see it there filling the air. two passengers on the plane died on scene. the pilot and a third passenger taken to hospital with burns. the pilot reportedly tried to land the plane in the field behind the house but crashed and said. neighbors jumped into action to help any way they could. >> it's on top my roof putting up christmas decorations and there was an explosion. i looked over and i could see it, there already flames. we were hosing down the roof to keep it from catching fire. we came back up front and it smashed in the windows.

speaking truth. who would have thought, even six months ago that the democratic party would be in a win-win situation in the senate race in alabama. if the democratic candidate were to win it, it's a seat the democrats would have never thought they would have taken in one of most conservative states in the country. if roy moore wins it divides the republican party and democrats can use him as a human millstone to place around the neck of the republican party across the united states. >> president trump won that state by 20%. >> absolutely. >> he is now up by just under your% which i guess is the margin of error. >> yes, which really shows the disparity there. and the weakness, of roy moore as a candidate. i think you're quite right to point out that these issues in

such a conservative state, a republican is struggling to that extent really points to his weakness and the reasons why so many of his party colleagues are fleeing. this is why it's important that senator shelby said what he said that we knew before he was opposed to roy moore but now he has given a permission slip to republican voters to cast their ballot or to write in a different candidate. that's very important in a close race. >> perhaps more surprising is that he still ahead, even after 43 republican senators have spoken out against him. >> i think part of it has to do with the divide that you've already mentioned in the republican party. there are so many senators against him in the campaign wing of the republican party and the senate is against him. on the other hand, he has clearly the support of a lot of social conservatives in alabama and also the support of the steve bannon wing of the republican party, the more populous as well as president

trump weighing in on his behalf and that makes a significant difference. come on it seems like a long shot. >> yes, absolutely. i don't think this is a tactic designed to help some other republican be elected, it's simply a way to have a vote of conscience if you feel that degree of objection to him but you don't want to vote for democrats. this is a third option. it's not going to elect someone but it will allow someone to name a republican and keep their conscious clear. >> we heard earlier that the president is sending out a robo calls to voters in alabama. do you think the president's endorsement helps or hurts? >> i think it does help because he did win in the state of alabama by almost 30 points. he remains popular when the president visits either there

or as he did on friday, he is healed in a very popular fashion so i think ultimately it helps pretty don't think there's many voters that are put off by president trump's endorsement and as we always say, a lot of this will come down to turn out and i think president trump's endorsement probably helps that on the republican side. >> would also probably helps is that roy moore has been adamant in his denials throughout, and in fact, in recent days, one accuser admitted she forged a portion of his message in her yearbook. >> what about the other. >> we are still hearing the other stories, according to many republican leaders are credible and we wonder where this all plays out. >> i think the credibility of these allegations is accepted by many republicans including senator shelby who you played the clip hear of him saying where there's smoke there's fire, essentially, so i think

the overall sense is that even many republicans do believe these women now obviously roy moore suggested it's a conspiracy against him. we will see. that may be enough to still win him the election but it's clearly not enough to remove or negate this dissent that many republicans. >> and it certainly become bigger than alabama. they've now called the summer rally play with significant political consequences. if he wins w we are hearing there will be an ethics investigation. >> a number of republican lawmakers are insistent about that. i think they are speaking sincerely but i also think they don't want to be answerable for everything that roy moore has said or done during his career i think that's one of the reason why there is a push, even from republican lawmakers.
