the train, 13 left the tracks. many of them coming down. it was a chaotic scene right after the initial moments were picked up on scanners. take a listen. >> there was a dramatic, frantic search and rescue effort as first responders and motorists tried to free passengers trapped inside. there were several people describing the fact they had to crash breakout windows and use the jaws of life to get inside the trains that dangled over the edge. all the victims were killed today were on the train. we are starting to hear some of the stories from survivors, and they were harrowing stories.

>> i hit my face and the inside of my mouth is all cut up. hit my jaw. bunged up my knee and a rib but i am basically fine. >> the cars went down the hill and ours was stopped hitting that tree. >> we also heard a story of an eagle scout who gave aid and assistance in some of the victims of the horrible train crash. an ntsb go team has started to arrive. a couple members are here. more will be arriving from washington, d.c., later tonight. we have a news conference going on across the street here. we are going to be hearing from local officials. the ntsb will be in charge. they will no doubt be looking at speed as a possible factor in this. numerous reports today that this train was traveling about 80 miles per hour within a quarter-mile of a sharp bend.

that bend is where the train left the tracks. the speed limit in that area at that curve is supposed to be 30 miles an hour. there is a black box on the train will be analyzed. they will be looking into whether or not this train properly slowed down, as you mention shannon, this was the inaugural run for the train. it was sp train that was supposed to cut 15 minutes. for commuters traveling from seattle to portland. they had been testing it since january of 2017. they have run several tests but this was the very first time passengers were onboard. there were 80 80 passengers on board and five group and we have confirmation of three deaths. there could be more because they've not been able to get inside and look inside all the cars. there could be more bodies inside. >> shannon: dan, i know you are monitoring the press conference with state officials. we understand the ntsb overnight for the east coast, will blow

ticket counter lines were getting shorter as passengers were finally being routed onto new flights after about 1600 were canceled over the past two days. georgia power continues to investigate the fire that broke out in an underground electrical room knocking out both the main power supply to the airport as well as secondary emergency backup power lines. airport officials say what happened was a freak event that's unlikely to repeat itself. nevertheless they say their lesson learned that they can carry forward. the cause of this outage was most certainly accidental. however it does raise some questions among counterterrorism experts about the vulnerability of our nation's infrastructure. >> the atlanta airport is the world's busiest airport which begs the question, how are the other airports doing? love jen heathrow or dubai or any major asian airports.

for the vocabulary book to appease the base works sometimes but not other times. on the jihadist move, i think most americans agree with the president when it comes to saying words like jihadist, terrorism, calling a spade a spade. when it comes to the cdc using words like diversity, evidence-based, science-based. these are not politically charged words. a lot of people had questions. one of the words that was in there was transgender. it's interesting because on capitol hill a lot of republicans don't want to touch social issues. they don't want to touch lgbt at all. i think the jihadist discussion in terms of bringing it back worked better than this other change which democrats are attacking. >> shannon: the cdc is denying it. they say there are no banned words. denying or walking back? >> we have to keep digging. >> shannon: we want to talk about senator al franken, who announced he would be resigning.

federal judge ordering the trump administration to allow to prevent illegal immigrant teenagers to obtain abortions in the u.s. the aclu brought the case of the 217-year-olds. one is ten weeks pregnant. the other is 22 weeks along. the judges giving the administration 24 hours to appeal the ruling which it's done with the tenet was ten weeks pregnant, including an emergency filing with the u.s. supreme court. situation is similar to another immigrant able to obtain an abortion in october. time now for "night court" ." we have a self-proclaimed satanist saying it's time to ditch our motto "in god we trust." a federal judge tossed the lawsuit but he is appealing. let's convene on the question of the constitutionality on on the model. jesse weber and mercedes colwin join us. i want to read a bit of what the judge outlined.

"in god we trust." the messages there is a god and there is trust. in the argument with him in district court, it was rejected. it could be appealed. seventh circuit and ultimately the supreme court. he is arguing there is a constitutional issue. the fact that the restoration, the religious restoration act specifically says the government can't burden someone's exercise of religion. these are his religious views. there is no god. secondly, the first amendment has clearly that you can't infringe on a person's exercise of freedom of religion. he goes on to say he is being discriminated against because he doesn't believe in god. he is required to carry this currency. get the government embraces those who do believe in god. lastly, it's a whole issue about the freedom of speech. he is giving forth a message, the government's message there is a god. >> shannon: maybe he could use
