>> thank you so much. >> tucker: that's our christmas gift to you, america. merry christmas. edition of "hannity." president trump closing out the year with a major legislative victory by officially signing the $1.5 trillion gop tax cut into law. take a look. >> we're going to wait until january 7th or 8th and do a formal ceremony. but every one of the networks was saying will he keep his promise and sign it before christmas? and so i immediately called and said let's get it ready. this is something that republicans wanted for years and democrats wanted for years and
10:01 pm
it never got done. who would object to trillions of dollars being brought back into the country? nobody. the biggest tax cuts and reform in the history of our country. this is bigger than president reagan's many years ago. i'm very honored by it. democrats don't like tax cuts. they want to raise your taxes. they don't want to lower your taxes. they want to raise your taxes and they want to spend money foolishly on things that we don't need in many cases. >> the president being very loose in his speech earlier today and as the lawmakers leave washington for christmas, major battles are set for when they get back in january. however, the president is on offense after passing this massive tax cut bill. joining us now, fox news chief national correspondent ed henry. i got to tell you, i'm excited and exuberant about this. the president began speaking and we cut to it.
10:02 pm
millions of people heard what he said today and he was just being trump. >> he has been on defense for a large chunk of the year. the muller investigation. they have to white house and the house and the senate and they stepped up here. you heard ryan and mcconnell and others say it was presidential leaderships that got this across the finish line. we have heard chuck schumer for weeks now say this is not going to trickle down. the workers, the employees are not going to feel the corporate tax cut. what has happened in the last 48 hours? >> chuck schumer says republicans will rue the day. that's a narrative. what about the political battle shaping up? >> it's going to be a difficult 2018 for republicans. you've got to be fair.
10:03 pm
barack obama faced this. clinton faced this. you will likely face losses in the mid-terms but the tax cut may mitigate that and help this president big time. when chuck schumer says this is not going to trickle down and boeing and at&t say we are giving out $1,000 bonuses and hiring more people and investigating in our company. that's what the president promised would happen and which democrats said would not happen. if you have an economy that is picking up steam in recent weeks and months take off in 2018, that's going to wreck some of the democratic plans for gains in the mid-terms. >> the democrats are going to have a tough time with the kitchen table response which is i have 1,000 more bucks in my pocket and paying less taxes and not paying taxes on that money. if that matters in the political narrative. but numbers matter here. if you say at&t and they give
10:04 pm
200,000 people $1,000, they are putting somewhere around $200 million, give or take an employee into pockets in the economy. how does the democrat go against that? >> they buy a television for the holidays and put food on the table. in 2012, barack obama in the election year, of course, was talking about a one-time tax rebate that was small. $40. #40dollars. you probably remember this. and democrats saying this is going to make a big difference. that was nothing compared to this. the average middle class family of four will get a tax cut of $2,000. that puts the $40 to shame. and by the way you have every single democrat in the house and senate who is on record voting for higher taxes and lower wages because they didn't want to see what's playing out now play out. if the republicans can't write a 30 second tv ad pointing out
10:05 pm
every democrat voted for higher taxes they should get another line of work. >> the republicans, we are going to talk to the chair woman of the rnc in a minute. they have to go out. they don't have to sell it. it is signed. it is law. the president said i don't need to travel. it's going to sell itself. >> but they need to explain the benefits to the american people and they have to rebut the attacks on corporations. >> and he's going to have to finish the job. immigration reform, infrastructure, there's a lot. health care. are they going to take another bite of the apple? they promised repeal and replace. they failed this year. can they come back with a third way, not obamacare or repeal and replace. is there a third way. there are challenges heading into 2018 but the tax cut gives him a head of steam. >> and the people paying the obamacare taxes 80% make under
10:06 pm
$50,000. that means repealing the individual mandate is a big boost for americans. a major boost. >> and the opposite of what democratic leaders have been saying. think about chuck schumer saying this is all about the rich. nancy pelosi saying if this bill passes people are going to die. maybe the opposite is happening. >> a christmas present. >> there you go. >> ed henry, good to see you, my friend. joining us now, rnc chair, ronna mcdaniel. great to see you. we have talked through this process on radio and in person about this and a major achievement. the president gets a major legislative win and the rnc now, you guys have to take it to the streets. where do you begin? >> it is a historic day. it's a great christmas president and president trump led the way. you know, i think about a year ago when he was coming to my state of michigan and traveling this country and recognizing that wages were stagnant and people were suffering.
10:07 pm
now today he has said we are fighting for you. we are going to give the middle class a huge tax cut. we are going to make your paychecks bigger. we're going to increase jobs and grow the economy and fight for the american people. as the republican party, we are going to hammer home the accomplishments of this president and senator mcconnell and speaker ryan and when mind them that the democrats were nowhere to be found. joe mansion went home and saw a banner that said "we'll remember in november." no democrats supported middle class tax cuts and helping the american people. >> let's talk about the major driver of the economy and that is the corporate side of this. it's s-corp.s, llps, the individual truckers out there that call every day and say what does it mean to me? what does it mean for the people in that 50 to $75,000 income level with a pass through and
10:08 pm
business. what does it mean to them? >> they're going to take more money home. it's two-fold. we cut so many regulations. the president focused on that, cutting regulations and that is so important to the small business owner. because they were so constricted by these cumbersome regulations. and with the tax cuts they're going to be able to invest in their businesses and be able to help their families. this is a great day for small businesses, for like you said, those truck drivers, people across the country are going to benefit and that's who president trump targeted with this huge tax reform bill. >> ed henry brought it up a while ago, ro ronna, can the republicans write a 30 second ad that sets out what this means to the american people? >> republicans are putting the american people first. and we are -- increasing their
10:09 pm
paychecks. we're going to focus on creating jobs and increasing wages and grow this economy and make america a better place for all americans and we have delivered at every turn this year. give us the majority in 2018. >> now let's talk about other things. i like to cover the things that aren't always there. today is a big day with tax cuts. but what about other things? regulatory reform? we've got immigration on the table to deal with. daca. is the rnc going to come together and do these things. the word is out that the president is going to the border to look at these walls. >> so much has been accomplished. you look at neil gorsuch and tax cuts. the president has signaled he
10:10 pm
wants to tackle infrastructure next year. that should bring bipartisan support. there is a lot in the accomplishment column for republicans. what have democrats done this year? nothing. resist and obstruct and fighting this president at every turn even if it is at the best interest of their constituents is not a message to run on. we have shown we can governor as a party and a president is leading the way. our hand is out to democrats. if they are not going to work with us we're going to get it done. >> are they going to come across the aisle? we have heard nancy pelosi saylinging this is arm get don. you know the words that are being used and they are not reading the bills. nothing new for democrats. but are they really going to come to the table? >> there are some senators
10:11 pm
looking at 2018. joe mansion, heidi hide camp, sherrod brown, these senators in these red states, they want the photo ownershp with the preside they are beholden to chuck schumer and nancy pelosi. when the constituents go to the ballot box they are going to ask what did my senator do? especially on middle class tax cuts and infrastructure. >> thanks, ronna. great to see you, have a merry christmas. you have worked very hard in the first part of this term. good luck. have a great christmas. you deserve a break. >> thank you, david. the liberals at msnbc have been trashing the tax plan but they shouldn't be. and before we explain why, watch this. >> this is something donald trump with all the corruption and all the self dealing that is
10:12 pm
swirling around donald trump, this tax plan proves that like autocrats across the world, donald trump has perfected the art of the self deal. >> like elementings. are they going to back him on the firing mueller? >> there's a difference between giving to the corporations and hoping the corporations pay it down and the difference of the tax cuts for the middle class and not just the wealthy or the corporation. >> the effects of the tax bill started to reverberate today as the wealthiest people and powerful corporations in this country started to scramble to figure out how to handle all the money the republican tax bill just gave them. when your family's taxes go up you can take comfort knowing that's what you are paying for. >> instead of attacking the tax bill maybe these liberal hosts
10:13 pm
should be thanking president trump. here's why. comcast, the parent company of msnbc will be giving $1,000 bonuses to 100,000 employees because of the tax bill. and the fcc's actions on broad band. thank you about that for a moment. do the numbers add up to the rhetoric? joining us deroy murdock, and noelle nickpoor. deroy, you talk about the civil rights industry a lot. this is the liberal media industry selling the narrative. do the numbers add up when the very employees of comcast are getting millions of dollars that they will inject into the economy on their own? >> we heard from chuck schumer and nancy pelosi this money would go to the ceos and top executives. and the day after this tax cut plan was passed we are finding
10:14 pm
$1,000 bonuses for hundreds of employees. if you are rachel ma doe, maybe it's not a lot of money. but think about a cable guy or someone in customer service or a secretarial position, that money will be very much appreciated right before christmas. >> leslie, good to see you, is this a christmas present for america? i know the democrats want to paint this as a disaster. they haven't seen it play out. but to deroy's point. the money going into the economy, some $200 million from at&t to employees. 100 million from comcast. may not matter to the elitist but about the americans out there? >> let's talk about the truth. the republican that at&t did this, it's not altruistic. the reason they did it was a $28 million tax incentive for them this year because they would get screwed next year. in addition, the hundreds of
10:15 pm
jobs taken away from individuals, the layoffs from at&t. 600 of them. >> they are based on the trump tax plan? >> by the way, david, neither are from the -- neither are from the trump tax plan. the timing makes it look like that way. they are protecting themselves because of the changes for them as a corporation. they get a better tax break of $28 million more as opposed to losing $48 million more if they wait until 2018. they need to distribute the money and it makes them look good. do you ask is it a christmas present? it may appear that way, but that's not the reason. is it a present to the poor or elderly or the disabled or to people that don't make between 300 and $700,000 a year or don't
10:16 pm
identi itemize their taxes? no. but noelle according to leslie, at&t just spent $200 million to cover $28 million. i'm not following the numbers here. >> you know, first of all, i've got to tell you something i'm angry with what the democrats have done to spin this. number one, let's just look at corporation ceos. corporations employee 152 million american people. and i'm really tired of the media spin that corporations ceos and corporate america is evil. they supply us with jobs. they're not evil. the last time i checked democrats and republicans own corporations. and the other thing that i'd like to say which is irritating for me is the fact that you know, this tax cut really
10:17 pm
emphasizes what donald trump is trying to do. he was elected on the backs of the working man because the democrats weren't representing them and he turned blue states into red states. look at the ones that he won. and he made good on that promise. they are going to see money in their paychecks. and these corporations that are getting these tax cuts, they are giving back to their employees. so they're not evil doers, nice try for the democrats narrative to spin it to where the corporations are fat cats and taking home a bunch of cash. there may be one or two bad actors that leslie can trump me on. but the majority, these guys, these women and men that are ceos of american corporations, they are giving it back. >> so deroy, let's do some numbers here. and i like the fact that when you look at some of the things, doubling the standard deduction, $18,000, if you are a single parent and $24,000. if you are a household under
10:18 pm
that 40,000 or under that 50,000, you have more of your money to use on top of that. the child tax credit that has been increased. and another category has been added, of $500. do the numbers match leslie's narrative? >> this is money that people will keep in their pockets. if you used to pay the penalty for not having obamacare, that's gone. it is voluntary now. if you want it, you can have it. if you don't want to you don't have to have it. there is a 529 plan to let people put money aside for private school, what have you, that's a fantastic thing that ted cruz put in. it's the biggest boost for school choice. at&t may figure they are getting a special benefit giving the bonus to their employees, what about comcast, sinclair, wells
10:19 pm
fargo -- >> i mean, the list is growing. >> all these other people. >> whatever the motives might be, it's interesting the others are giving these bonuses and putting money into worker education, committing money to spend on production of facilities and this is within 48 hours of passage of this bill being signed. i think next year will be a boom for the economy. and the party of no, the democratic party will have trouble in november going before the voters and saying as people enjoy these things that gee, we didn't step up and allow you to have that. they voted no to all of these benefits. >> democrats always talk about give a tax break to the poor on the lower rungs of the income ladder. in this is the repeal of the obamacare mandate. 80% of the people who are under that mandate make under $50,000. wouldn't democrats be on board
10:20 pm
with this? now they don't have to pay an onerous tax? >> no. and i'll tell you why. i'm glad you asked me that. this is one of my pet peeves is the health care side of things. one of the reasons that democrats and republicans felt that we as a nation had a need few reformation wasn't just the numbers. but let's look at different numbers, let's look at pure numbers of how many sick versus how many people to treat those sick. there are hospitals closing throughout the united states because the emergency rooms have been bombarded because people didn't have insurance to take care of to put them -- the preventative -- i'm answering -- >> jury you'you're trying to se >> i'm answering your question. >> noelle, go ahead. >> i know leslie is complaining but the democrats had a shot to get some things that they needed because you know, remember -- at
10:21 pm
a certain time we weren't sure if we had enough republican votes. here are the democrats in a big cluster and nobody came forward to see if they could get some things in the bill to help and vote for. they didn't participate. so it's really kind of unusual they're sitting here upset about it and crying over spilt milk. >> now they can cry over spilled eggnog. merry christmas. >> i'm not crying at all. >> deroy and noelle. >> she's in the next room. >> to the democrats, go cry in your eggnog. we'll keeped t-- we'll keep the spilled milk. we'll tell you what action jeff sessions is taking following reports that the obama administration gave a free pass to a terrorist group. and more details about the
