doesn't cower in fear and through it all donald trump is never afraid of the media. the republicans are watching all. this at first it's making them nervous as they can be. now, and even before the tax cut bill passed, there has been a change. and the republican party is happily on donald trump's team. and it's genuine. and it is real. what they are realizing is that donald trump will win and they want to be part of a winner. pete: as much as this is a policy win this president has been a cultural presidency as well taking on political correctness. the nfl and the kneeling. the fake news media calling them out every single day. he has taught republicans how to fight. establishment republicans in washington forgot how to fight and how to win. president trump in many ways has restored their ability to fight. ed: how did that work in alabama and virginia. pete: we will see.

ed: i was with you for part of it and now you are turning him in to like reagan. list his couple points on that though. virginia has been a trending blue state. unsurprising for ralph northam to have won that race. then you take alabama, there was some very, very, very serious allegations against roy moore. so, unless democrats expect in every state that they want to win are red state where they have a democrat incumbent defending it. unless they expect the republican candidate or republican incumbent to have serious allegations against that. that's entirely unique scenario. you can't compare the alabama race to any other race coming up in 2018. ed: motivated to come out. pete: why what have they been motivated about? they have been leading the resistance and talking about impeachment. some have talked about prison for the president. is that going to change in 2018? are they going to be able to

turn. ed: so far i agree unlikely to change democrats have had very little of a message. that's why the tax code victory could be significant. two fold, the economy is really come back strong. that's very clear. this tax cut that democrats have been talking down may make the economy roar in 2018. that's going to make republicans a lot more formidable. but also the tax cut victory makes it like democrats, what have you got, you know, so i agree with you on that point. lisa: also important to point out regarding the impeachment part that nancy pelosi and chuck schumer have also tried to walk it back and said hey guys slow your roll because i think they are looking at some of thieves competitive districts for democrats. they know that's probably not going to play well with swing voters they need to win over. yes, it two play well with the left and during primaries but it's not necessarily going to play well general election. we have seen them try to walk back some of that rhetoric. listen to, this guys. >> his motives and his

house. it's if they win back the senate. if republicans still have the senate, i don't see the house even if under democratic control i don't see them moving forward with impeachment and making that an issue. they know it's going to run into a wall in the senate. so i think the only scenario where it actually gains ground is if for some reason the democratic party takes back the house and the senate which is pretty far fetched if you look at the senate map. ed: democrats will look ridiculous if they are all about impeachment in 2018. combined with the fact that not a single democrat in the house or senate voted for a tax cut. if these tax cuts help the economy take off not a single democrat can take credit. pete: big gamble. nancy pelosi, just the latest we broke out a list of some of the left's freak out. lisa: i thought we were already supposed to be dead by net neutrality. pete: we were told by the left there was the end of press freedom in 2017. end of the planet got out of climate accord.

ed: enjoying his first big legislative victory. signing tax cuts into law yesterday. what else has he accomplished in his first year in office? joining me to break down editor-at-large fellow at the kings college scott rasmussen. good to see you. >> good to see you, ed. ed: let's walk through first year achievements. there is a lot of debate about what he has done and not done. >> biggest accomplish. got the left distracted by what he is doing they are missing some of these accomplishments. the economy is doing well. his challenge going into 2018 is going to connect his regulation reduction of the regulatory burden. ed: the ground work by removing these regulations, a lot of obama era one us. the economy seems primentd right now. this tax cut you think could bring it to the next level? >> it could. the challenge politically is the president has to connect the dots. he will have to sell this

and make sure the people understanding the economy is doing well. ed: yesterday, he said it will sell itself. we will see. what happened next. >> take what happened in the courts. lot of people up happy with both presidential candidates in 2016. many of them voted for president trump because of the supreme court. enough was a big win. getting him on the court. ed: had to change the rules to do it? >> that's right. democrats had changed the rule before. this has become a very ugly process to confirm judges. but i has 12 federal judges. this is going to have a big impact. and the senate races. can you imagine going in for the president going in to west virginia where joe manchin is going to be trying to keep his seat and talking about the importance of republican control to keep on dominating? ed: because there could be more supreme court nominee he is. domestic policy the bigst biggest obamacare repeal. at least repeal of the mandate there are 15 million americans who say they would drop their obamacare

coverage if they were allowed to. ed: now they have that chance. >> 6.5 million more paid a fine rather than getting it they will be happy. this will lead to more innovation. ed: border crossings down. something from the very beginning of the campaign something he delivered on. ed: foreign policy what do you say? >> foreign policy the most signature move was the event jerusalem. something that people had promised for 20 years. congress passed law. virtue signaling vote, they knew no president would let it happen. president trump did it. on the foreign policy side. all of these issues whether you are talking about the iran nuke deal or anything else, this is going to be a case where as long as nothing disastrous happens in the year, this will not be much of a factor. ed: tpp democrats are saying this is going to hurt us with our relationship with china. it gives china more influence. >> of course they are saying

that we don't really know what's going to happen. china's influence on the u.s. is much bigger than one transaction. they are the world's largest nation. they have a growing economy. and there's going to be a difficult relationship going forward. this is not. ed: going through this whole deal, last question, what else the biggest of all. is it the tax cut? >> i think it's the tanks cut and the obamacare mandate repeal. ed: good to see you, scott, merry christmas. canada's prime minister wants to bring terrorists to his country. can he rehab them? will that plan work? we will debate it fair and balanced. report has everyone talking on new year's eve. mariah carey is getting a second chance. will we see another foul up like this. ♪ i want a holiday, too. can i not have one?

productive citizens is absurd. pete: the prime minister went on to say, joel, there is a range of experiences when people come home. is he saying i will take a risk that hopefully some of these guys coming back have been reformed and then they can speak out against extremism? what if one of them isn't reform and still dedicated to jihad? >> yeah, pete. this is a high risk proposition. and these fighters should be coming back in shackles. but if there are fighters who are clearly capable of being reintegrating into society there may be ways to bring them is. in they have to be monitored and has to be verified. but this is a very high risk strategy. and there's a bigger picture here as well, which is the question of the politics around fighting isis in these countries, we have to in a sense drain the opportunity for fighters to want to go to places like iraq and syria to join isis. i work with a group.

iraqi national project. a sheikh who leads it continually talks about not allowing an isis 2.0 to form. they are already forming in syria. we have to be very careful of how to prevent that magnet from actually expanding. pete: jim, if you talk about draining that isis swamp. does it not include a killing them on the battlefield and b we revoke your citizenship and never come back because you clearly don't stand for our values. >> remember, these guys aren't coming home because they saw the error of their ways. they are coming home because they lost. there is a concept that we used to have for pirates on the high seas enemies of all mankind. if anyone should qualify as that it's isis. so, trudeau's job is to keep canadians safe, not to conduct some sort of sociological experiment to see if he can make these guys into productive citizens. they are not, they can't be, and he shouldn't do it. pete: such a great point,

joel. do you think justin's focus is on keeping canada safe or on a commitment to lift wing social justice causes? >> i have no doubt that it's about keeping canada safe. we have to keep perspective, for example, there are 40,000 roughly foreign fighters that have been known to migrate to syria and iraq. of those from the united states, potentially 200 went there, or tried to get there about 40 actually did. we tracked them. this is not a liberal fantasy. what this is trying to be hard headed and clear and realistic. that doesn't mean that we shouldn't keep our eyes on these people, that they shouldn't be treated as enemy combatants we should be. we have be to be vigilant. pretty pretty merry christmas. i appreciate it. >> staple to you,. pete: pete christmas present from the president. the left says something out of horror movie. >> amount to frankenstein. anyone who knows

the senate, because the reality is the senate map looks really tough for democrats. they are defending 25 states, republicans are only defending 8 in the senate. and also the state of nevada is the only state where g.o.p. incumbent is in a state that hillary clinton won. so they are facing an uphill battle. 10 senate democrats incumbents are running in re-election in states that president trump won so the senate looks very difficult for democrats. the house may be another question. pete: voters are wise to a lot of the it ed gillespie did the hedge. typical of so much of the political class. people can see that the authenticity of president trump comes out. he said he was going to do it. now he is going about doing it, which is the biggest sin you can commit in washington, d.c. actually do what you say you are going to do. ed: jeff flake as a republican said i'm not on board. he made his bed he will have to sleep in it as well are republicans going to get on board. democrats meanwhile, interesting because they have not wanted to get on board with this president. they have been resisting. last hour we had andrew stein on who leads democrats for trump. he said enough is enough.

frankenstein and going to scare people? >> isn't that insane? i think of the democrats and their message for next year being i stopped you, the american people, from receiving money and having paycheck increases. and president trump is right. i mean, is he standing strock on this economy. he understands that this tax cut is historic. it is going to benefit personal families and individuals and the benefits are going to be felt right away. wwe are already seeing companies investing in our country. we are seeing companies giving bonuses out before christmas. president trump made this commitment. i mean, you have to understanding. in washington it's about washington slow speed. when president trump is here, it's about trump speed. that means getting things done quickly, a result-driven president. someone who is sticking to his promises in a way that we have not seen in a very long time. and i think that for the american people, when you start seeing continued economic growth. job opportunity and the

president's willingness and ability to say we are going to invest in our most important resource, which is that of the american people that is such a strong message that i think that the american people will absolutely embrace. lisa: speaking of messaging, mercedes, part of this is getting the word out to voters and to americans. 80% of americans will get a tax cut. each according to liberal think tanks but, despite that the "wall street journal" had a poll showing that only 17% of americans believe that they are going to get a tax cut. what is the white house going to do? what is your plan to change that number? >> president trump obviously and his team will be continuing to talk about the benefits of tax cuts. i mean, we have seen, for example, his daughter ivanka trump on the road as well as several secretary cabinet members going out there and talking about doubling the child tax credit. the expansion of the 5299 for college plans. you start seeing these blefts of knows tax kits,

and come pen, february, there will be an immediate impact. you are going to seat majority of americans receiving paycheck increases. when you start seeing more of these companies investing in our local communities, and hiring people, i mean, it is critical that that is in itself is going to be incredibly helpful. president trump will continue talking about the successes of tax cuts and how this impacts american families. they are going to see tangible results and that is something that is called delivering on his promise and that's what the president has done even before christmas. pete: not a single democrat voted for the bill. they have been committed to resisting him. if they had the house of representatives they would probably try typicall impeach h. he alluded to working with democrats. what does 2018 look for democrats. >> infrastructure is going to be priority for administration and congress. president trump is a builder in chief. he understands that in order to keep this economy growing, it's not only about

christ and that's what we are celebrating. you know, christmas we give gifts. but christmas is about god giving. giving his son jesus christ. the bible says that we have all sinned and entire human race sunday the death sentence because the wages of sin is death. sin is a disease of the human soul. he gave at christmas his only begotten son that whoever believe him him should not perishable but have everlasting life. jesus christ came to this earth gift from god. went to a cross and died and shed his blood on the cross for our sins. christmas is all about christ. god giving his son for each and every one of us and so i'm so excited that the president isn't afraid to mention the name of jesus christ. and that he boldly stands for not only christ but all religious freedom. and it's refreshing to have a president who is just not afraid and doesn't care what all the liberals think. he is just going to do what he thinks is right.

and everybody just get out of his way. i kind of like it. lisa: franklin, president trump has stood for religious freedom in this country. do you feel like religion has been under attack that christian yeants has been under attack over the years? >> no question. and they are still under attack there is plenty of court cases right now before the supreme court where people put out of business because they refused to bake a cake for somebody because of their religious freedoms and religious beliefs yes our faith is under attack. it's very, very critical. this is a nation that was born for religious freedom. people came from other countries so they could be free to worship god however they felt was right as christians and we are the majority, are under attack from the secularists. i think it's very important that people remember this and that we stand up for our religious freedoms and we do have a president who does care and i think he is going

to do all can he to stand with us. ed: reverend graham speaking of presidents there is man who guided both parties for a long time. i remember covering president obama on a trip to nortnorth carolina several years ago. he made a side trip to visit reverend graham. we know he has been aging and health challenges. he is such a powerful man. such a powerful message. can you give our viewers an idea of how he is doing these days? and what you want everyone to know about his life and legacy. >> well, you know, he is entering -- he has entered now his 100th year. he is 99. when he turned 99 in november that opened the door to his 100th year. he is at home. he is resting well. he is old. he doesn't see well and hear very well but his mind is still good. his mind is still clear. i'm going down with my wife on christmas day and we are going to have lunch with him. i'm looking forward to that my father, all of his life. never veered from the

trying to keep a secret. pete: while you were lying to them about where you were going. ed: well he wasn't really lying. pete: the ends justify the means for sure what do you do in the navy and out in japan? i'm a gse, gas turbine systems technician and i'm the electrical aspects of it. pete: so you work on a ship and those ships patrol where? >> like the south china sea. pete: nothing going on there right now right? >> [laughter] >> disputed waters very much so. pete: so an important job and important place. first of all, why did you sign up in the military in the first place? >> i wanted to see how it was joining the navy and serving our country. young first and probably going to school after. ed: for parents what does it mean to have your son serving the country? oh, we are so proud of him for doing this even though it's so

challenging for us, but i think it's still worth it. ed: dad you said earlier you were worried about him in japan? i was really scared i told elwin that being in the military there's a risk and as a parent, you know? but like what i said, i'm really respect and support his heroic decision and i'm proud of him for stepping up to serve our country. lisa: and there's a lot of families right now whose loved one is serving overseas, so what would your message be to them. you've been through some of these christmases so what would you tell them? >> i'm sorry? lisa: for the other families in the country who they don't have their loved ones with them right now who are serving overseas you'd mentioned you've been through these christmases before where he's serving, so what's your message to them? >> well i would say just keep in touch with them. they really need support from us

they're working hard for us out there protecting our country and skypeing, texting, just sending letters to them will be a big help. pete: guys your brother you look up to your brother in uniformities really cool. what does his service mean to you? >> it means a lot like we really miss him when he's not here, like a lot. lisa: he's a good brother. ed: but when he's here you guys are fighting all the time right? no, they're good kids then. pete: oh, okay so what are your plans now you're here with eight days before you head back any plans in particular? >> we're planning to go to florida. pete: nice and you coordinated that with them without coordinating it? lisa: how did you do that? tell us about that. >> hay what are you doing for the holidays because when we were planning this i asked them i said oh, wait i heard my family was going on vacation for christmas probably and i said let me ask them real quick. lisa: were you worried you'd give it away or trying to be
