call that number, get it off your chest, whatever it is. 877-2 to 5-8587. that is all the time we have left this evening. let not your heart be troubled. the news always continues. why? because "the ingraham angle" is next. was that you changing your voic voice? name? >> [laughing] >> was that sweet baby james? yes, it was. >> sean: it sounded like you. i said she called. >> laura: mine has a different accent. you must have scrolled through it. >> sean: i am waiting for your call. >> laura: no, no. no. >> sean: go ahead. >> laura: thank you very much. welcome "the ingraham angle" from washington. the family feud and the daca trap. that's the focus of tonight's
11:01 pm
"angle." members of the anti-trump are delithe -- delighting in a war of records between steve bannon and president trump. bannon suggested that president trump was aware of the 2016 meeting between don jr. and a russian attorney at trump tower. bannon said the chance don jr. didn't walk the people up to his father's office is zero. bannon didn't join the campaign until 2 mongst later. this set off a feeding frenzy in the media.
11:02 pm
bannon characterizes the trump tower meeting as treasonous and unpatriotic. he predicted that mueller's team will crackdown jr. like an egg. jared kushner was also called out by bannon. this is all about money laundering. they go through paul manafort and jared kushner. it's as plain as the hair on your face. the president responded in a blunt statement. he said steve bannon has nothing to do with me and my presidency. when he was fired issue he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. and: okay. here's my advice. i am playing dr. phil or judge
11:03 pm
judy here. some questions: who does this help? does this advance the consecutive populace agenda at all? what is going through both side's minds. donald trump is the head of the republican party. it's not bannon or me. it's donald trump. with these statements, bannon has given credence to the worse conspiracy theories of the impeach trump forces. bannon probably won himself a trip to testify on capitol hill. is that what bannon wants? i know steve bannon. is that what he wants? if there is a policy difference between trump and bannon have an exchange. fellows, it didn't really make

sense for a high-profile advisor and his former boss to attack each other when the steaks are this high. how does that make any sense? aren't you playing right into the hand of the democrats and the media who are hoping for nothing more than your mutually assured destruction. what bannon's comments, if accurate, have done, they have created a tidal wave of establishment support for president trump. they are rallying into his side today. not how we saw this story developing. on to more important matters. there was a big meeting between congressional leaders of both parties at the white house today on a potential deal to give legal status to the 800,000 dreamers brought into the country by their parents or sent to the country on their own. it's a negotiation that is schedule to continue tomorrow. the president will be involved
11:05 pm
tomorrow in that meeting. obama through an executive action, daca, he allowed all of these people to stay and work in the country for rolling 2-year periods. in fact, if 2017, even during the trump administration. tens of thousands of illegal dreamers applied for and received daca status. so obama's policy lived on. last september trump said he would end the program. then he gave congress 6 months to find their only slogs. -- solution. kind of smart. trump demanded that lawmakers pass responsible immigration reform. what might that look like? well, the president has given us a few clues already.
11:06 pm
>> this kid came in through a lottery system. i instructed congress they must end it. >> chain migration is a huge problem. >> more of those things are happening. chain migration is a disaster for this country. tell end. >> will be it part of the dreamer deal? >> yes, part of the daca deal. >> laura: the president is on the right tack. there must be non-negoatables for a daca deal. we must fund the walland hires thousands more ice age agents to enforce the law and cut the

number of green card recipients by half. the dreamer nightmare is upon us. dreamers actually will cost the american taxpayer 2.6-billion dollars annually is congress passes amnesty. more unaccompanied alien children are coming across now today. why are the numbers going up? because congress is flirting with grants citizenship to dreamers. all of the benefits of health care, education and housing. foreigners see the green light here. according to the last 2 months of available stats, we have seen a surge -- 7,000 unaccompanied children have crossed the border. they can't be deported to their home country under current u.s. law. they get to stay here. they are detained and released
11:08 pm
into the u.s., becoming our responsibility. the u.s. taxpayer's responsibility. given that we -- just think about this. just one metric, thousands of homeless u.s. veterans on the streets tonight shivering in the cold with no one to care for them with addiction problems and mental issues. they are on the streets, but we are catering to the illegal immigrants. that's the priority of congress. in is unconscionable. we will explain the effects of the illegal immigrants that could swamp the country. the failure of republicans to protect and secure the border caught them dearly at the ballot
11:09 pm
box for several cycles. their efforts to cater to the violators of our laws at the expense of working citizens and legal immigrants are one of the reasons donald trump got elected in the first place. if americans make some quickie deal on daca and violate the president's promise to his base, it will be gop last. that's the "angle." an important note. we contacted ten senators who are involved in the daca negotiations today. that's a lot of calls. but the key people, the ten people, not one of them was willing to come on this show to discuss this critical national issue or what they have planned. what is going on behind closed doors? my instinct kicks in.
11:10 pm
this could spell trouble with a capital-t. our guests. in washington i have a trifecta. steve is the director of research for immigration studies. then an attorney and jose is a former spokesperson for the dnc. on the statistics here, people just watched the "angle" were shocked to find out that right now we have a surge of unaccompanied minors crossing our southern borderers. >> right. amnesty causes more young people to come. we release them into the united states. >> the minors can never be deported?
11:11 pm
>> well, they can be. >> i have not seen an example. >> we don't send them home. but they could be. minor injuri minors, but it's very difficult. >> it's rare? >> these are not people slipping into the border. apprehension is misleading. this is people turning themselves in because they know we will just release them into the united states. we pay their bus or air fare to ship them to their illegal immigrants in the country. over the next 20 years, it looks like legal immigration will add 15 million voters to the united states. that's people who reach the age of 18 and are able to naturalize. >> now do republicans win in that. >> it's very hard. immigrants are voting for the democratic party. >> big government. >> the political system will
11:12 pm
reflect the values of the changing electorate. if legal immigration continues, how will the conservative republican party survive? >> jose will sit down tomorrow in these meetings. he said in an interview with me that the wall and chain migration must be part of any deal. chain migration is responsible for exploding immigration. not just your parents or minors. uncles and aunts and adult children and their parents. one person could bring in ten. that's how our immigration exploded not merit based. what do the democrats do? >> we have to remember the president changes his mind every single second. it's hard to keep up with him. go on twitter and you will see

it. i don't believe a word that the president is saying. those non-negoatiable things. the notion that donald trump is a republican i have my doubts. >> laura: i guess you don't like trump. but drill down on this issue if he says we will do daca for a full funding of the wall. would you support that? >> absolutely not. he needs to extend daca. there is a wall in mexico already. we don't need another wall. >> laura: where is it? what are you talking about? there is a wall with mexico? i have been at the border and people just walk across the border or slip across. 12 miles from imperial beach, san diego, operation gatekeeper in 1986.
11:14 pm
>> most of the border does not. there is already a border structure there. >> laura: i am trying to get information. you are saying you would not give legal status, a pathway to citizen ship for the poor illegal immigrants kids, so you would deny them legal status because you are desperate to get the uncles, aunts, cousins, 3rd removed into the country. that's amazing. >> no, this is the way we have to frame the answer. i agree with the majority of americans who say let's pass a clean dream act. >> laura: your party is not in control and the republicans are. that's reality. >> i know. guess what. the gop could have been the party that said let's protect the people. >> laura: we had two of those

11:16 pm
>> [overlapping talking]. >> those people are waiting. those workers who are here legally and following our rules, came in legally while the president talks about giving instant legal status to the daca people. if you are a worker in silicone valley, your kid when they turn 18 has to go home. >> laura: how is that america first? catering to silicone valley, how is that america first? mexico doesn't allow anyone to move and become citizens. france doesn't. there is a legal process. it must be respected. steve, if the president sits down with the democrats tomorrow and at the end of all of this, they decide to cut a deal and it's a down payment on a wall. i heard that thrown around.

1.6-million dollars gets you nothing. maybe chain migration stays out. what does the base do? >> the president to his credit has been bold and consistent. >> laura: i think he has been. we will see if he stays that way. >> to get voters to show up in 2018 and 2020 and he wants to do something they don't like like daca, he has to give them things. an end to chain migration. it's not clear that congress won't flip. >> laura: build a wall and mexico will pay for it. he didn't say how mexico will pay for it. >> that's not going to happen. >> laura: maybe it's with taxes. this economy is doing well. >> because of the last president. >> laura: if it's bad it's bush's fault and trumps.
