about, the deep-freeze after the storm, millions of americans waking up to blistering cold temperatures, cars covered in ice and snow. in boston, all that icy floodwater as the bone chilling arctic blast continues to move in. laura ingle is live in new york where people are trying to dig out. how cold is it? >> reporter: it is bitterly cold out here. on long island, the real feel is negative 2 and that is not the worst of it for some of the areas we are looking at. we have real feels in the negative teens in some places. behind me, a lot of the snow removal, the scene being repeated all over long island, new york, new jersey, you name it, they use in on the atlantic seaboard. i want to show you some snow totals and scenes of what is

happening in new york city where you are, you probably heard central park got 10 inches, 9.8 to be exact, many areas on long island got 15 inches of snow and that will make the indication of what sanitation workers deal with citywide and regionwide. in boston residents are bracing for freezing temperatures, they got 18 inches of snow with hurricane force wind, historic coastal flooding which caused the evacuation of some stranded people. >> they came up to the front door, he put me over his shoulders and put me in the car. >> almost completely underwater and water coming in the back door. >> reporter: airports up and down the east coast were hammered with cancellations and closures. you have seen pictures of people stranded, flightaware reporting
