9:02 am
>> it's self-made billionaire who revolutionized reality tv. >> i'm happy that you said that. >> snide remark. you have 24 hours a day anti-trump material. you will not give three minutes for the american people -- >> i get it. one viewer that you care about now -- >> no. you know what i care about? >> quite an exchange there. president trump tweeting jake tapper fake news cnn just got destroyed with stephen miller of the trump administration. watch the hatred and unfairness of this cnn flunky the president tweets. white and exchange. you do wonder though, has the administration brought more attention to this book than the media itself? >> the president, he's a queens guy. he's a couldn't puncher, when people punch he punches back.
9:03 am
especially a book like this. you have pompeo there, cia director, one of the most respected people. he brief the president everyday. when i talked to the president, this guy is sharp. he's working his butt off. he's traveling around the world. he's back here and doing all this stuff. i just think that this guy is trying to sell books. unfortunately, because what he's doing the anti-trump narrative the elite media, they're running with it. bunch of false things. media trying to suffocate it. it's just because -- >> he spend any time watching any other television networks, dominated the headlines. i wonder when this starts to fade. >> the president has to stot reacting to it. that's the martest thing you can do, portray yourself being bigger whatever narrative someone else is trying to push. when you punching down, you compound the situation.
9:04 am
that's what the president is doing. i really he has to stop. i thought the exchange with jake tapper and stephen miller was fascinating. it was very entertaining. i downloaded the book this weekend and read a lot of it. i did this was entertain -- you don't extract too much truth out of them. it's like weekly in the dentist office. you want something that's mindless and fun. that's what this is. michael wolff said he's going to bring down the presidency with this book. i don't think that's going to happen. >> i see the people over their launch going, did kennedy compare us to michael wolff. >> you're saying that, this is a gossip book. the problem is it's being presented as truth by individuals in the media. i think that's the problem. i think that's a frustration with president trump. even the author of the book said

9:07 am
he sees it out there. he's not going to let this narrative go unchallenged. it's a narrative that's not only true about the broader administration but it's attacking him this guy is not up for the job. which is not true. you disagree with someone politically fine, make that case. this nonsense that the left and this guy is engaged in it's counterproductive. >> somehow this is going to be the invoke the 25th amendment. >> notice that, who's involved with the 25th amendment. the cabinet. did he interview one member, no. >> we're going to continue this in a slightly different way. president trump's former chief strategist steve bannon expressing remorse for not responding sooner. comments that were critical of donald trump jr. and trump tower meeting he had in june 2016 with campaign officials and russians. bannon is quoted saying that meeting treasonous.
9:08 am
he says donald trump jr. is a patriot and good man. my comments were aimed at paul manafort. a seasoned campaign professional with experience and knowledge how the russians operate. he should have known they are cunning and not our friends. those comments were not aimed at don jr. i regret that my delay responding to the inaccurate reporting has diverted attention from the president's historical accomplishments. so far there has been no official response from the white house to bannon's statement. that first tweet from the president was a smack down. now days later he walks it back. >> when i heard it, you got to be kidding me. don jr., he's a good guy. he's a patriotic guy. he is very loyal to his father. if you don't like his politics, that's fine. the idea that somehow he engaged in some type of treasonous meeting, that's poppy cat. i was shocked to hear that.
9:09 am
i'm glad steve walked it back. i'm not sure that undone the damage. at least going on record and saying, don jr. was wrong. >> i think we also have to take into account, potentially this was an out for president trump. steve banson has soaked up lot of oxygen, lot of negative attention. i think president trump feels that steve bannon put them in bad position in alabama. perhaps, this is an opportunity for president trump to break up with steve bannon. you have the mercer also saying, we're done with steve bannon as well. which is a massive hit for steve bannon. they have been part owners of breitbart. they have been his final backer. >> what is the future of steve bannon and politics? >> it's hard to say. obviously breitbart is powerful on the right. i don't know if he's going to
9:10 am
remain with that. that's a huge question to have. >> as a republican, you had to run for office every couple of years. now you're seeking the state house as governor of florida. who you go to for money? there are all these people whether it's the koch's or mercerses. lot of concentrated pockets of money on both sides. does this change how you fundraise? >> no. at the end of the day when you running races you got to find people that are similar in your views. you go to them and say, here's my plan. i like your support. if they think you're a good candidate, they'll support you. if they don't, they won't. >> steve bannon were going to back your florida governor run, would you allow that? >> i would not stop anyone from supporting me. i'm different from lot of other people. because the president tweeted for me. he hasn't done that for many
9:11 am
candidates. i think lot of the primaries, how do you position yourself, that's when the president is not involved. if the president has tipped his hand then that's a huge thing. that's really kind of what i think most candidates are looking for. >> he was kind of put on the hot seat last seat last week. his loyalty comes from former veteran days. he said this is what that's about. this is about loyalty. you make your own relationships when you're raising cash. people have to do that. steve bannon as best now is an awkward position. the president is he winning now with this? >> with the book? >> with his response. his ability steve bannon coming out. >> i really go back to what i said. i think that president trump going out with steve bannon. this is an opportunity to divorce himself of steve bannon without necessarily taking a hit from his base and people that
9:12 am
like steve bannon and like breitbart. i think president trump saw an opportunity. he took it. these comments which appear to be true, president trump used it as an opportunity. >> when you attack his family, you attack the president. even more personally than attacks on him or his intellect or mental stability. when go after his family and his children, that's his red line. >> for many of us. the american people if you look at social media, they seem to agree on that point alone. nbc news anchor, suggested the fbi's new probe of the clinton foundation is fake news and political side show. whether the mainstream media are playing defense for the clintons. president trump appears willing to sit down with special counsel robert mueller. while saying that allegations his campaign colluded with russia are dead. this is a top gop senator demanding a second special counsel to look at antitrump
