how likely is it that democrats can regain the majority in the house of representatives? here now to debate that republican strategists charlie kirk and democratic strategists and fox news contributor jamile green. thank you for coming on this. jamile, some analysts are saying that certainty that the dems take back the house in just about seven months or eight months. what say you? >> no, no, you can't say that. let me take us back to when hillary clinton first announced her presidency, one of the first internal campaign memos that went out to democratic strategists had the first line said, we are not going to take any vote for granted. there are many people who think they did the exact opposite and now president trump is in the white house. the last thing democrats need to do is be overconfident while it is certainly winnable, the house, for democrats, we have to be smart in the same way that, i

think, the party was smart in 2017 where we saw democrats outperforming, enthusiasm is on democrats' side, there are 24 seat that is democrats need to pick up and i believe 23 of those were districts that hillary clinton beat donald trump in, so there's certainly statistics that are looking favorable for democrats but the last thing we need to do is to think that we've got this in the bag. rob: yeah, let's go over to you, ten months, i count that up in my head while jamile was talking but you have a lot of republicans not running here. do they see the warning signs, what is the reason for so many not going into the fight again? >> well, look, it's not necessarily i think the most fun job in the world and a lot of the congressmen that are stepping down, they have been doing this for many years, there's a lot of good points that were said there and i think it's dangerous for democrats to think they are going to

automatically going to win the house, here is what's working for them, the party not in the white house usually does very well in midterm elections specially the first midterm election, i will give the democrats that. the democrat party right now is in total shambles specially financially, they are in debt, look at the republican party, they smashed fundraising records, they raised over $130 million and also the democrat party, i think, really missed a lot of opportunities here to work with the president especially on middle-class tax reform, zero democrats votes at all, the biggest middle-class tack cut in american history and you see all the jobs coming back to america and economic activity, there's going to be a lot of voters say, what have democrats done for me lately except they want to impeach this president, so despite a lot of the historical trends putting in democrat favor, a lot tighter than people think. finally, there's 12 seat that is trump won that are held by democrat congressmen right now, just as many opportunities on the republican side as well as

the democrats. rob: interesting. a lot of people don't vote identity politics, it doesn't turn a lot of people on, when unemployment is down and wages are heir, people have more money in the pockets, it is going to be interesting to see how they react when it comes time to make a decision on what we are going to do politically, if the democrats do take back, it's going to effectively shut down the president and a lot of things you have to do, right? >> but that's one important point because americans actually do believe in our system of checks and balances, they do want to make sure that there is going to be some balance to -- to stop maybe some of the more extreme opportunities that a party that has control of the house and the white house and the senate, so i think that actually plays into the hands of democrats where you're going to have a lot of voters saying, look, i just want to have the ability for the house to put

some brakes on some of the things that the trump administration might want to do and i think just to go to the point of like how much money is out there for democratic candidates, one thing that people are not paying attention to are the record numbers of dollars that the democratic congressional campaign committee is raising and the senatorial campaign is raising, it's not about what the dnc is doing. it's about what the congressional campaign committees are doing and we are seeing a lot of fire, a lot of enthusiasm there, but, again, i'd say throw all of that out of the window, every campaigns we need to be a campaign that we are desperately running behind. rob: you can't take anything for granted. we learned that last year. thanks for coming this morning. jillian, to you. jillian: flooding in eastern part of the country as another arctic blast moves through. the short-lived thaw followed by heavy rain causing ice jams in several states including new york where huge chunks of ice

state of the union, i want to get your reaction on that and also i want your reaction on what the president said that had the media in such in uproar. >> well, i'm looking down just for a moment at a book i have in any hand, it's called king truth, it's my newest book and it's going to be released tomorrow and i hope that congressman john lewis and many of those who are so disgruntled here this because this is a quote from reverend martin luther king, jr., my uncle. he said i am convinced convincen hate each other because they don't know each other and they don't know each other because they don't communicate with each other and they don't communicate with each other because they are separated from each other. now, those are the words of my uncle reverend dr. martin luther king, jr., congressman john lewis know so many of my uncle's words, i remember all of the work that congressman lewis did

in 20th century, in civil rights movement, i marched and wept to jail too, so i'm asking the congressman to lead us in a unifying effort so to be crying and disgruntled and angry, that's understandable, i mean, i'm not going to knock that at all but it's better if he will go ahead and communicate with the president and to boycott the state of the union address, it's not going to resolve the problem. so i believe that we are going to have to call for unity, protests have their place, you know, there's a word in the bible, there's a time in season for everything but there's a time that you get past that protest and nonviolent process of communicating and resolving for a win-win situation. jillian: let me ask you about this, in the past few days the racism term has been thrown around a lot in regards to president trump.

do you think that's fair? >> i don't believe it's fair in the case of president trump. i consider president trump to be a leader with this understanding because he has said more than once, we no matter what color our skin is, bleed red and there's another word, one blood god made all people so we can be brothers and sisters, my uncle said we must learn to live together as brothers and sisters or perish as full, how are we going to learn to live together if in these protests we keep stirring up emotions and tears and people are angry, i won't work that way. rob: ms. king let me get your reaction of what was allegedly said in the meeting, what was your initial reaction when you heard it? >> first i was not in the meeting but immediately when i heard it i understanding the work that president trump is doing in america and around the world, drain the swamps in america first and then move out, bring the job rate up, put

people back to work, get people out of jail so they can work and be productive in society, so then he looks at the corrupt societies in other countries, the hail holes in other countries where corrupt leaders have taken everything away from the people and the people are oppressed, so oppressed that they want to leave and move to a country where they believe things are better. well, those leaders need to change what they are doing so that the people can enjoy their own home where they are living, you see, so president trump addressing that oppression and corruption called them a word that i don't use, but i will say that there are hell holes in america and all around the world and as the swamp is drained, we've got to have enough compassion to help every person everywhere and i believe the president understands that. jillian: we have 10 seconds to go, on the martin luther king, jr. day, what is your message to america? >> serve each other, love each other, help each other, that's a lesson i learned from my uncle
