2:00 am
week and set your dvr. laura's next. it's friday, weekend time. have a gre >> laura: good evening from washington. welcome to "the ingraham angle." with assault from the left and right an epic battle has just begun. congressman steve king said negotiations should start with one simple question, who and how many would each side deport. and the super secret fisa memo could be made public when the state of the union speech on tuesday. we have new details on what's happening on monday and more evidence that bill wasn't the only clinton mistreating women. a shocking new report about a hilary cover-up on her 2008
2:01 am
presidential campaign. but first, trump exposes the fanatics is the focus of tonight's "angle." the president's visit to davos was by any measure a smashing success. he engaged world leaders on the sidelines and he delivered a speech that was disciplined, serious and unapologetic. >> i will always put america first just like the leaders of other countries should put their country first also. but america first does not mean america alone. >> laura: the president delivered a calmed and right-hand defense of economic nationalism at the same time showing respect to our international allies. despite how well the president performed, the media will never
2:02 am
give him a fair shake. it's pathetic. here's what some of them thought of the davos speech. >> it's like a tone to the more measured -- i guess, what's the word, sedated. >> if content was a victory lap i thought he'd fall asleep. i was struck by the lack of verve. i'd never seem him more low energy. >> laura: well, had the president been really animated, they would have said, he's yelling, he's shouting, he looks angry. the ugly american. he sounds like old ducce. they said he's unhinged, he's ill-suited for the presidency and remember, even before inauguration day, they insisted
2:03 am
his arrogant tone and populist policies would destroy him and the planet. and they portray him 24/7 as a dictator in waiting and a fan -- fanatic who demands loyalty and now we see the true fanatics. the media. the breaking news and military dicta dictatorship. >> the impulses of a tyrant and dictator. >> he attacks the news institutions which is what franco and mussolini and others did. >> the kind of strategy -- dictators and tyrants have used. >> he's attacking the press he calls them the enemy people which is rhetoric you hear from stallin. >> laura: killed 50 million people but it's the same as trump. oh, my gosh.
2:04 am
these people are slavish adherence to a world view that is elitist and they're addicted to policy are frankly growing more unpopular around the world as the days, weeks and months go on. i say this, very few of them have the professionalism to step back for just a minute and absorb the positive news the trump presidency has created for america. now, aside from the rare abc headline, like, why aren't more news organizations heralding the news on jobs, income growth, soaring consumer confidence, the good news for african american and latino americans? because it's against their world view. imagine if the opposite had occurred. if trump had presided over an economic downturn. they would have said, we told you. trump is going to destroy the world. statement pundits would have
2:05 am
pounced on his conservative populism and blamed trump for the derailment of the obama recovery. it's so transparent. no wonder the media's approval and ratings keep falling. i'll tell you this, the media aren't the only rabid fanatics trump and his agenda have exposed. just look at the reaction over the past 24 hours to the president's immigration reform and daca plan. now last week, remember, he was set to offer 800,000 daca recipients amnesty in exchange for border security and end of chain immigration and visa lottery. the democrats rejected that deal and shut down the government. so this week, after work a broad work of senators, the president has livened the amnesty pool to 1.8 million immigrants. that's a million jump.
2:06 am
this has agitated the president's baste quite a bit. their opinions were expressed on my radio show today and they were overwhelmingly critical. >> if trump goes through with this he can lose my vote in 2020. >> if he does that he's committing political suicide. >> not only will he demoralize his base, he'll kill the republican party. if he continues to pursue this, he's clearly lost me as a voter. i don't see the difference between him and obama. >> i did not go for trump for him to do this and i will not vote for him again if he does that. >> do you notice there were a number of hispanic voters in that montage we put together. fascinating. everyone knows this is not the plan i was hoping for and not the one i think republicans in the senate should agree to. what's happening is the president is taking this risky gamut in a way to get common
2:07 am
sense immigration controls in place. what he's thinking, i believe, is that we have to end this massive influx of immigrants into the united states who are admitted without regard for need or merit, what they'll bring to the country. and we also must stop the wave of humanity, illegal immigrants, busting across our southern border every year only to stay for however long they want. now, like it or not, as the administration's thought process. we'll see how it works out. the republicans don't have the vote in the center for the bill, which i believe is much better, it's ridiculous the senate's not embracing that. the president moved to the middle. not where i'd be but that's where he's at. when he did that he enraged his
2:08 am
supporters and perhaps risked his own re-election. he did all that and what are the democrats saying in reaction? >> let the just say what i said last night, that plan is a campaign to make america white again. >> if you start putting in all these highly charged toxic issues, it's just not going to work. >> laura: i don't even know what that comment meant but these people are total fanatic. they're fanatical for open borders and endless migration of low-skill labor for political purpose and we haven't even told you what chuck schumer said yet. as we said earlier this week, democrats believe they have to repeal and replace the american el electorate and nancy and schumer
2:09 am
etcetera, have to keep their grievance society going and otherwise what are they going to say? the economy's thriving. they're out of ideas. they're out of the ideas business. all they believe in is division, identity politics, the blame game and calling trump a dictator. that's all they have. and if the immigration view they have -- if it means lowering the standard of living for the average working person, citizen, by adding in low-skilled workers, so about it. if for the democrats fit means resisting -- if it means resisting trump when it benefits voters, so be it. i'm telling you, these people are dangerous fanatics and it is they, not president trump, who end up destabilizing destructive
2:10 am
forces in the body of politics. he's exposed them like no one has before. and that's "the angle." well, we'll talk to congressman steve king in a moment and he's well known for his, well, hard-line stances on immigration. he believes in what trump campaigned on which is got to build a wall. you have to end chain immigration. you have to end immigration just on family ties and merit-based and has to be great for american people and we have humanitarian concern for people truly in need. we've always been welcoming to those people but it also has to be done with an eye towards common sense. refugees who come in the country who would not meld with the american understanding or appreciate our views on non-discrimination and so forth. that would not work. congressman king supported the
2:11 am
president precisely because of his immigration views along with other issues. and joining us now without further ado is congressman steve king and we're delighted he's joining us from iowa, i believe. congress, how are you doing? >> doing fine right in my living room. it's terrific. i appreciate your monologue. >> sean: let's talk about the president's plan. the four pillars were announced late yesterday. it's a change from a week ago where it was 800,000 daca recipients would have a pathway, eventually, to citizenship and moved on to 1. million -- 1.8 million basically in place and more for the border and security which is good stuff and the visa lottery system would be kind of
2:12 am
replaced -- used the 50,000 to end the family and merit-based backlog of illegal immigrants who have been applying and waiting for years and years. tell us what your biggest concern is with this and could you ever support an amnesty that would lead to a reduction in legal immigration? >> i haven'tstein i haven't seen the plan but i do recognize the value of the go goodlatte bill but the numbers are stunning that president trump proposed 1.8 million amnesty to illegals. i'm familiar with the immigration policy. i said the policy has been in iowa 14 years and that's why he's president of the united states today. i think this will demoralize so
2:13 am
many of his supporters. he had a mandate to end daca. a mandate for a wall and to end chine migration and to end the visa lottery. we can go on and on. and they're matched up negotiations and it's troubling to me. i think seeing the democrats turn against it. the one thing he's accomplishing is convincing the american people of the real truth which is democrats don't care about solving the problem. they want the problem to exploit it politically and to bring more and more people into the united states tab on their side of the political ledger. >> laura: i do think he has exposed them. it's not the plan i would want. i'm good for the goodlatte bill. i should show what mercedes
2:14 am
sclap said i want to hear from the white house. i'd like to interview the president on this and obviously he just came back tonight. we hope to have someone on on monday. let's listen to what mercedes said earlier from the white house today. >> clearly it needs to be a bipartisan bill. if we could clearly have a 60 votes with republicans that would support this it would be easier. the congress is not in that position. that's why you need a compromise on immigration and from the standpoint of the white house it's clear the president has said time and time again, there needs to be a wall. if there's no wall, there's no daca. >> sean: congressman, your response. the goodlatte bill would be dead on arrival and not pass. what do you say?
2:15 am
>> no wall, no deal. the reason we need the wall is the walls don't have prosecutorial discretion. >> laura: you get the wall and deal and end chine -- chain migration. that's 400,000 people a year. in five years you'd have more than 1.8 million amnesty of new family-based immigration that's gone. in five years you'd swap the 1.8 number and exceed it and the cuts would still keep coming. i don't see you'll get a cut in legal family chain migration. i don't see it. >> laura, here's what this establishes, though, if the president served up 1.8 million in amnesty in change for $25 million for a wall and then reduces the numbers of the chine
2:16 am
migration that's the end of his enforcement in his administration unless we come up with another amnesty to serve it up because he'll have established that precedent. by the way, this is the success of the -- sacrifice of the rule of law. we'll never see the rule of law restored again. in 1986 this mistake was made by ronald reagan. it's the same debate. it hasn't changed. >> laura: rule of law has to be respected, agree with you on that. we're almost out of time. this is what some of the laura ingraham of left-wing left-wing advocates said. the white house released a hatef hatef hateful zono phobic proposal.
2:17 am
and united we dream said let's call the proposal what it is a white supremacist ransom note. come on, the left is so over the top in response. my listers can't believe what they're hearing but the practical information of all this is you don't have 60 steve kings in a sentence. voting for cloture on immigration proposal. i wish we had more people that believed in the rule of law. >> i looked around a week ago and had a hard time finding anybody and now the coalition's growing. thank you for doing this tonight. i appreciate it. >> laura: we appreciate it, by the way, congressman, we could be on the verge of a stunning game changer in the russian investigation.

republicans who read it say it suggests serious surveillance abuses by top officials at the fbi and department of justice and president would have to approve the release. let's bring in a member of the house judiciary committee. great to see you. starting with you, congressman gates. i talked to one of your colleagues earlier and he said the following, a republican -- a senior house member, he said i'd be careful in the hyping the content of this memo. he said, i think some of my colleagues are over selling what's in it. this is not the smoking gun that's going stop the mueller investigation. i think they're building up people's expectations to a ridiculously high extent. i heard that and this is someone i really respect and it made me
2:23 am
nervous. congressman. >> i would say the memo has to be evaluated in the context of all the other stunning information we learn from andrew mccabe's message on a pro-hilary bias and the text messages between lisa page and peter strzok and i think yes the memo in and of itself, doesn't the full foreee. the mueller probe is rotten to the foundation. >> laura: the democrats have tried to push off the dossier to the side and it looks like it was used multiple times to
2:24 am
justify if he surveillance. what's the public need to understand. people hear dossier and think it's too much for me to comprehend. what on a friday night can we tell the viewing public why that particular issue is so important. >> it has been reported it was used and hopefully this memo will confirm whether or not that's true. here's why this matters, if that's indeed in the memo, laura, that of itself is a modern-day political scandal that's nearly unrival. you're saying there was a campaign document paid for and produced by one presidential campaign and the fbi used it for justifying spy ong a political campaign. this in itself is a terrifying
2:25 am
idea. you see people who keep moving the goal post in this as what counts as shocking or scandalous. it needs to be viewed bad in it of itself if that's the case. >> laura: let's talk with the morale of the fbi. the democrats are usually big critic of law enforcement especially on the state level saying the scrutiny of the fbi and the relentless scrutiny will damage retention and shake the public's trust. your view on that? >> those things are stated to further their own cause. the fine men and women of the fbi will go on doing their job day after day in a superior manner. their badges are not tarnished by the actions of somebody else.
2:26 am
their badges are as shiny as ever. the only tarnished badgers are the people who performed in a horrible manner if that's provable. the predication for the fisa warrant is atrocious. it puts in jeopardy future fisa warrants going before fisa judges in court. >> laura: it makes it seem political. this is supposed to be an agency getting to the truth if we st t starting the fbi for a political hit job, that's -- i lived in the soviet union and that's what they did there.
2:27 am
they call president trump a dictator. i find this closer to police-state tactics than anything they've accused him of and congressman, i want to go back to you on this. the fact we still have agents working and investigators, lawyers work in this investigation with such clear -- at least the appearance of a conflict and conflict of interest appearance of partisanship and animus towards the president is stunning whether it's andrew weissmann or any of these other people, they're still in the investigation. that's amazing. >> one of the things i can say about the intelligence memo is names are named. we'll see who is engaged in conduct that's shocked me and so many in congress. the result in this should be bipartisan legislation to actually reform these processes
2:28 am
so you don't have these folks sticking around after bad acts. have you more oversight, more transparency and then we can restore confidence in the fbi and department of justice. we don't enjoy beating up on the entities essential to preserve our democracy. we just want to see them work for the american people not for the political interests. >> laura: and kimberly, the move to focus on whether trump was itching to fire muller or said something and whether he was frustrated and i think the white house is maybe defeating that. it's unclear. the president's back from switzerland now. to me that doesn't surprise me. if the president truly feels it's an unjust investigation and the investigators were work on it were biassed or clinton or obama loyalists i'd be
2:29 am
frustrated too. >> there's no crime in asking questions too. in the confidence of your inner circle, raising questions on whether or not there are conflicts or bias and whether or not that is a cause for any sort of action. the important thing is he didn't take action in the end. so now we spent two days talking about a thought that went through president trump's head. we keep hearing from critics of the president that the right or conservatives engage in diversionary tactics there should be self-reflection. the discussion at the moment is what happened at 2016 in terms of the fbi. the mueller investigation continues unimpeded and we need proof within that interception and the -- truth and department of justice. >> laura: hillary clinton responding to a sexual assault

rich, privileged womanizers. this is worse than a clinton. the democrat leaders are giddy over the congressman of joe kennedy to deliver the response to the president's state of the union address on tuesday. nothing screams we're with the people like ridiculing bonuses and then trotting out a kennedy to make the case. how's this for a metoo candidate, the family of j.t.k. and ted k.'s contribution to the woman's movement can be summed up in one word, chappaquiddick. and nancy pelosi remarking, congressman kennedy profoundly understands the challenges facing hard working men and women across the country. this from a woman who derided

he told me about eliquis. eliquis treats dvt and pe blood clots and reduces the risk of them happening again. not only does eliquis treat dvt and pe blood clots. eliquis also had significantly less major bleeding than the standard treatment. eliquis had both... ...and that turned around my thinking. don't stop eliquis unless your doctor tells you to. eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. don't take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. if you had a spinal injection while on eliquis call your doctor right away if you have tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. while taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily... and it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. . actually, this is good.
