trillion and more in value. we repealed the core of the disastrous obama care, the individual mandate is now gone. >> looking at the president called on congress to produce an infrastructure bill giving more detail on his long-standing promise to rebuild an aging and crumbling infrastructure. >> tonight i'm calling on congress to produce a bill that generates at least $1.5 trillion for the new infrastructure investment that our country so desperately needs. together we can reclaim our heritage and we can do it with american heart, american hands and american grit. >> he addressed foreign-policy threats like north korea and reached out to democrats on

democrats plainly refusing to stand or even clap despite policies helping all americans. >> african-american unemployment stands at the lowest rate ever recorded. >> the congressional black caucus among other democrats showing no emotion, seemingly unhappy about the economic successes. congressman joe kennedy and bernie sanders quickly using their rebuttal to slam the president. >> many have spent the last year anxious, angry, afraid. we are bombarded with one false choice after another. bullies may land a punch, they may leave a mark but they have never, not once in history of our united states managed to match the strength and spirit of the people united in defense of their future. >> i don't understand how a president of the united states

can give a state of the union speech and not mention climate change. the american people do not want a president who is compulsively dishonest, who is a bully, who actively represent the interests of the billionaire class, who is anti-science and is trying to divide us up. heather: more than a dozen democrats boycotted the state of the union including maxine waters, she plans to deliver a rebuttal tonight. here with reaction is radio talkshow host and fox news interview tammy bruce. remarkable difference in how people took the speech. >> democrats, the worst ever, republicans it was great and awesome. heather: what was your favorite part? >> the overarching framework of bringing everyone together, that was their goal, he achieved it clearly and it was specifically

brought together, americans are dreamers too. heather: that is the catchphrase. >> a big difference between mister kennedy's speech and the president, the president did not attack other people, didn't denigrate a framework, wasn't about negative, it was bringing all americans to a framework of having -- without pushing another group down. kennedy's speech was kind of gloomy and was about the divisions, bernie sanders, was about divisions and anger. americans are rejecting that but my favorite part is the nature of the speech itself, the positive outlook, the optimism and lifting everyone up. >> sounded like that was what he was trying to do. this was pretty remarkable, cbs poll of americans opinion, 75% approved of the address, 25%, great number for him.

the next one, was the speech trying to unite or divide as you were talking about, 81% agree with you, they say -- >> 71% of independents likes it, 43% of democrats did which is a pretty huge number and overnight 97% of republicans did as well and this is what americans want and the president has gotten a boost from the 24/7 attacks on him because people expect godzilla and they get a nice guy so you have a benefit in that regard as well. ultimately, when people saw the doom and gloom and pettiness from the democrats sitting there and not applauding to the heroism of the guests, the basic selfless humanity being celebrated and his theme from the campaign elevating the forgotten men and women come all those people would never be on the cover of people magazine from baby hope to auto

tax-cut bonuses since they passed the tax-cut plan. >> that is very important. it is fair to say if you cut business taxes it creates more wealth for everyone seeing this. we expect to see wages rising, not just bonuses but businesses will be growing more rapidly, more competition, and empowered. had the cash to pay more. heather: before the plans passed, you said things would happen, you were right. it was a long night. 20 minutes after the top of the hour, a north korean man who made it out of the rogue nation, carly shimkus with his incredible story just exploding on twitter. ♪

heather: donald trump's state of the union the most tweeted in history. carly shimkus with fox news headlines 24/7 with the reaction, it was blowing up last night. >> all anyone was talking about, 4.5 million tweets, and only the most tweeted out about state of the in but joined session is on the most tweeted about moment during the speech was when the president said we stand for the national anthem. take a listen. >> we proudly stand for the national anthem.

[applause] >> donald trump junior tweeted about that as many people did saying the great american come back, america has a president that stands for our flag, has turned our economy around and is making america great again. on the other side of the political mileage is lawmakers did not attend the speech but massachusetts senator elizabeth warren did not for any unifying reason, she said i wanted to go to the state of the union, wanted it burned into my eyes. if there's ever a moment i'm too tired to keep fighting i have to close my eyes and see the president, vice president and paul ryan applauding themselves for punching working families in the gut and i'm back in the fight. not a warm and fuzzy tweet from her but there were a lot of the president's supporters talking about the speech as well. byron on twitter said there are no words to describe the pride i felt watching the president of the state of the union address.

heather: everyone watched the same speech and such different viewpoints but one thing everybody agreed about was north korean defector, it is remarkable. >> one of the most memorable thing the president did, personal stories of triumph and sacrifice into his speech and his moment north korean escapee lifted up the crutches that he used to escape that oppressive situation what an amazing moment and social media went wild over it. let's look at that reaction, k on twitter says i cried watching it live, however bad you might think your troubles are just remember him and his perseverance. another twitter user says one of the best moments of the night, so many memorable moments. >> the guests were amazing.

following this speech we have the rebuttals. joe kennedy gave his but people -- >> there were so many serious moment, social media looking for a laugh. remember one marco rubio drank the water during the 2013 rebuttal where there was a moment like that last night as well. poor joe kennedy. if you are democrat you think he did a great job i'm sure but social media focused on his glistening mouth, looks like he put too much chapstick on and lights from the set where reflecting off of it. chris tire walled talked about it on twitter saying did kennedy eat corn on the car backstage or something? this is one of the trending moments of today.

of pain. >> with that donald trump explained his goal with immigration is to protect all citizens of every background, color, religion and creed. >> my duty and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber is to defend americans, protect their safety, their families, their communities and their right to the american dream because americans are dreamers too. >> the president explained he wantss a four point plan for immigration that includes r1.8 daca dreamers to have a pathway to citizenship, building a border wall with more ice agents to patrol it and end the visa lottery program and chain migration which congressman joe kennedy delivered the democratic response from the school from a city of immigrants, he told

dreamers to keep the faith. >> to all the dreamers watching tonight let me be absolutely clear. years, this is why washington is broken and my democratic friends i would have sat down too, two months ago when republicans had a 17 seat majority in the house, we wanted it back to even, we are using donald trump the way they used barack obama, using dreamers as a political football. if people will come together, we would be in a better place but politics gets in the way. >> you lead by example. i cannot believe you would not stand up for some of that. >> infrastructure. i would love him to have a clean dreamer meal but everything is messed up because they are trying to go to one side or the other, we can't do this, politics always get in the way. >> did it appear democrats are willing to work with republicans? >> clearly not if the entirety of the congressional black

caucus couldn't manage to stand for historically low black unemployment rates. the point is it seems a majority of democrats cannot fathom giving credit where credit is due when it comes to donald trump or republicans and maybe that is because they are embarrassed they didn't vote for tax reform or are more anti-trump than they are pro-america but it showed last night and if they think that will help them in the terms i think they will be mistaken. heather: and then you had the rebuttal, you worked for bernie sanders. what did you think of his rebuttal? he call the president a bully, that was a bad speech because he didn't talk about climate change. >> and i just talked about, not trying to get worked up this morning. what i am saying is politicians who advocate to make america the place it should be and get out and reach out to american people, different philosophies of how we get there so you have politicians going at each other for political reasons, i believe in bernie sanders and these policies are different than the opposition party that are

what do you think, the alternate response coming out? >> i find it quite interesting that the criticism is usually around after the speech about what he didn't say, meaning what he did say was pretty effective. i saw a lot of stories about melania trump arriving separately, the storyline, maybe there is trouble in their marriage. once again a lot of this was about what he didn't say, behind the scenes with his wife and russia and even the pfizer memo and in general, a victory for him. >> why the first lady was wearing white as well. here is a tweet from joy read, church family, police, military, national lampoon, trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s era nationalism. the goal of his speech appears

to be force the normalization of trump on terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for. >> i was dumbfounded when i saw that. one of the reasons it shows how disconnected liberals are from the rest of america, even those in the audience, democrats, representatives and senators many of them didn't stand when he talks about god when he talked about faith in general yet most americans in this country especially middle america many people believe in god even if it is a different faith and they have. it once again showed how out of touch they are. i'm not sure when family is bad. i'm confused by her tweet in general. heather: it will be interesting to see if they change their tone when they see the polls coming out today, when we had earlier this morning from cbs showing

75% of people approved of his speech, made them feel more patriotic, made them feel stronger, made them feel unified and that was his goal. >> one of the best things about this speech is trump saying on teleprompter when reading the speech, of course his staff worked on, he definitely seems more presidential. this was a speech that was different than his normal twitter feed. he focused not on name-calling or calling people out, unifying. it is more pronounced, they are the ones who did not want to unify. giving a positive message, i would encourage the twitter feed for the negative calling out. heather: from the democrats at one moment as soon as he started talking about immigration reform you could tell they were prepared to blue and they started blue this to chang and then talked about the family impacted by ms 13 gang members killing their daughters and they stopped.
