origins of it. and so at least you could get someone else to look for it. he was not appointed by president trump that remains to be seen. it's not clear how critical that may be but they do take a while. that's a case with almost all the investigations. they seem to take an eternity. you can hear the impatience on part of the president. he wants answers. i don't think there at odds over the general idea of having a look dad. >> the ig has no prosecutorial power. one would say shouldn't whoever is overseeing it have the ability to prosecute.

bob doesn't have a problem with what sessions did but he also doesn't think the ig will be enough. >> i am comfortable that as long as that new request by jeff sessions does not delay the release of the report regarding what he was already conducting i'm fine with that. the judiciary committee, trey gaudi and i will continue to investigate this matter until there is an appropriate outside investigation with prosecutorial power. >> what's your take on that? >> i don't know if that will happen. i think there are factions of people who want a special investigation but i don't know if there is an appetite for that. it's rolling slowly through the ig process.

we been waiting a long time so now could be slowed down by adding more on then even more when you get the report. at one have any teeth. congress has to decide how far they want to take it. it will depend on what's on in the report. >> nunez clearly has more faith in the inspector general than the president does. but the question is i'm the president raises a good point whether or not it poses a conflict of interest by having the doj in being appointed by obama opposes a conflict of interest which are basically used to obtain warrants further and advis advisory.

does the white house need to pick a series of reforms and stick to them so we can get a consensus. >> that was the populous president versus the reality of congress clashing right there. what he really needs to do is understand what is possible in congress with his own party. you can do a big broad thing but using mostly democrats to do it. if you're going to pass something with republicans because republicans run both chambers looking at a gun-control measure that could be more narrow. the president said he wants a big comprehensive bill. when it comes to gun-control legislation that will be tough to do. they were pretty close on a narrow bill that could have bolstered the way that we report to the national instant background check system. it would ensure that up and make sure they're not gaps that currently exist.

it had a rare backing from the nra. then we heard the president calling for these more dramatic measures that you just pointed out. what i hear from capitol hill is lawmakers saying why is that the president put in writing what his proposal is. specifically what he wants to get done. lindsay graham said that's what he wants to see. and it doesn't even mean it gets for consideration. what can congress do and what does the president want. were still not sure. >> i think he wants a bipartisan resolution. when he held the meeting and had diane feinstein sitting right next to thousand image where people thought wow, she was almost an agreement with him. then he met with the nra.
