8:51 am
the mueller campaign. i want to ask you about the special election. if, in fact, the republican pulls it off, is that a good indicator what might happen in november? >> obviously, it will be. but i don't think it -- i think it would be more damaging to the democrats if we win than damaging to the republicans if we lose. i think what we've done with the economy and particularly with the tax cuts, as more and more people see money in their pockets, as more jobs are created, i think that that is the wave that the democrats fear more than anything else. david: all right, well, we will be watching and we'll be covering that live this evening. let's turn to the investigations going on and the leaks that are coming out, particularly leaks, sort of intended to hurt the president's position, it appears. i'm wondering where you think these leaks are coming from. are they coming directly from the mueller investigative unit? >> i'm not sure.
8:52 am
that you made a point there they appear to be hurting trump's position. i'm concerned it's compromising national security. i think at this point we've had so many leaks both from the mueller investigation and from the house intelligence committee and other places that it may be time for the department of justice to launch an investigation into that because i think this is very, very serious and in particular in the context of classified information. david: well, do you think. >> we just had a sailor get a pardon because he took pictures inside a submarine, that's how serious we take this in the law and yet, we've got people leaking classified information. david: a lot of people have gone to jail over leaking stuff, classified stuff. i wonder if you think it's indicative of the mueller investigation itself and whether, in fact, it has a bias against the president? >> well, we're still looking into that and i think this investigation being done by the
8:53 am
inspector general, michael horowitz, and his report that will be coming out later in the spring, may shed some light on that. it appears, and from the memo from-- that we read regarding the warrants to the fisa court, indicate that there is a bias. and i think that anytime you get into a situation like this where people could be subject to prosecution, there are going to be things done where they're trying to protect themselves, but also trying to undermine the investigation itself and undermine the president's position. david: well, you have a fellow alabaman, who is the attorney general of the united states right now. do you think there's a need for a second special counsel to investigate the investigators? >> i think there could be, and the interesting thing about this is, is that frey frey gouddy

and goodlat, and i think that it should get everyone's attention, i think it's gotten general session's attention. >> let me ask you about the spectacle this week of one of the potential witnesses for mr. mueller, sam nunberg, who appeared on just about every television news program there was, whether it was network or cable at various points. some people calling it into question whether he was actually drunk. i'm wondering if this is the kind of witness that mr. mueller is relying on in his investigation, what does that say about the investigation? >> well, first of all, part of what i saw, it came across as bizarre and i think it seriously undermines his credibility as a witness and i would hope that, as the mueller and his team are going forward, that they're going to take this into account.
8:55 am
you know, you've got people that have been claiming this russian collusion since the day of the election, yet, i haven't seen any indication that there's solid evidence to back that up, and i'm hoping that the mueller team will wrap this up fairly quickly. i think there are other issues that we need to get into. david: when i heard the phrase solid information, i don't think that sam nunberg, there's nothing solid about the guy. it's sort of like using the trump dossier for a fisa warrant. it's the same kind of process, where either bad information or bad witnesses are used to make the case. >> i think a lot of people are trying to cover some things up, frankly, and you mentioned the dossier, and the fact that on three of the warrants, maybe all four of the warrants, there was no indication given to the fisa judges that these might be compromised, that there were campaign funds involved in this.
8:56 am
and i just-- i think that what we've got to get to, is we need to see what comes out of horowitz's investigation and we need for mueller to wrap this up. david: congressman gary palmer, great to see you, congressman. really appreciate you coming in on a saturday. thank you. >> glad to be with you, david. david: we'll be right back, stay with us. ♪ look into the sky for a momentary high, ♪ ♪ you never even tried till it's time to say goodbye, bye ♪ ♪ everybody fights for a little bit of light, i believe. ♪ geico motorcycle, great rates for great rides.
