mccabe and the special counsel. a source confirms through fox news that mccabe kept memos of his interactions with the president. this is a source that was close to mccabe. he said he kept memos similar to the way the former fbi director, james comey kept his own notes. but the president on twitter writing quote - spend very little time with andrew mccabe but he never took notes when he was with me. i do not believe that he made memos except to help his own agenda. probably at a later date. the same with james comey, chemical faith memos? while you're sending out a tweet came out simply will not respond to each childish defamatory disgusting and false tweet by the president. the whole truth will come out in due course. but the tweets confirm that he has collected the entire process that led to mr. mccabe's termination and has rendered it illegitimate. they report that mccabe met with special counsel and gave them his memos.

sterling virginia. the white house would not say what he was doing there. eric? >> thank you. >> and of course all of this is sparking reaction on capitol hill. democrats condemning the decision to fire andrew mccabe but some even offering him a job. some republicans are also expressing doubts. >> i don't like the way it happened. he should have been allowed to finish through the weekend. that said, there is an inspector general report that is due and work that is being done. after he retired, that report would have indicated wrongdoing was something that was actionable, there are things that could have been done after the fact. but 48 hours to go before retirement, i would've certainly done it differently. given the fact that there is delay report out there that has not come in. >> garrett tenney has more now from washington. what can you tell us? >> that inspector general pointed to what everyone is waiting on now because it will allow us to know the details of answer mccabe's actions that led to his dismissal and it will certainly answer a lot of

questions and concerns out there. as written senator marco rubio, a letter concerns come down to the timing of mccabe's firing. given that there were only 26 hours before he was to retire with a lifetime pension. the other big concern democrats have openly expressed is that mccabe was fired due to political pressure from the white house at the allegation at least and not solely because of his actions. here is a sentence number two democrat, dick durbin on "fox news sunday". >> in december the president announced we have 90 days to get mccabe before he retires. he put out basically a hit on him. and said, do this before he qualifies for retirement. just hours before, he would have qualified and left the fbi, this action was taken. it is highly suspicious. >> given the present is numerous tweets criticizing mccabe and conference be fired combined with the timing of his

lack of candor. in other words not on the trip to the fbi investigators. during this now we have the former doj prosecutor and before we get to the possible jeopardy this one of the legal implications of these notes that he said he potentially collaborating james comey as claims regarding the president? >> the notes are fairly minimal in terms of impact. it is an odd scenario but not completely unheard of for a federal agent or officer or an executive, to take notes about a meeting. to specifically preserve something that happened in that meeting. at the end of the data still subject to be considered self-serving.it is still something that might be viewed as inaccurate from the get go. again, mildly helpful to prosecutors while looking but not anything conclusive. it is not a holy grail. >> they report that he only had one face-to-face with the president. that he had very few actually.

can these type of notes be impeached? can they really be questioned? >> they can certainly be questioned. again, it is still hearsay. it is somebody creating a document that can be subject to a claim that is completely self-serving.i am not sure it really carries a lot of water. i know that when i was at the department of justice there were a handful of times when i would take notes about some sort of meeting, some personal action and was basically limited to the most unusual scenarios where you had something that you thought you better document in case someone comes looking five years later. that might have been the motivation here but it does not mean that the substance of this itself is anything that would be viewed as truthful just because it was written down. >> in terms of the potential legal exposure, we have papadopoulos and flynn. what to expect with mccabe? >> i would not expect a criminal charge. i can think is a type of setting that lends itself to the use of federal criminal

statutes. there are some obvious serious consequences going on right now in mr. mccabe and his conduct overall is not really out of the woods at this point. there is plenty to talk about in the future about his involvement in the russia probe accenture. i would not hold my death. i think will be a surprising thing. >> and the lawyer, -- >> you know, it is a very smart move if you're being subjected to an investigation by an inspector general to bring on your team. a form inspector general. there is an equivalence of stature there. certainly an equivalence of experience. where he can get up in cry foul about the procedure. that has been employed when it comes this particular client. >> you're talking about michael who certainly knows the inside outs of dealing with an inspector general. but james, in terms of the whole issue. the allegations are that there is -- in the fbi tried to cover

questions but an awful lot of conclusions already being drawn when we have not seen things like pfizer warrants. we have not even seen the oig report. they were talking about that today. i think we have to stay tuned a little bit.if there are four precedents, motions filed to implicate the bias of the mueller team then that is when it will beget interesting. because people have access to raw data. there will be interviews, conversations, text messages and emails that lend themselves to more solid conclusions than as we guess our way through from the raw mechanics of personnel actions. >> typically will get all of that? >> i think it is possible. if you are representing paul manafort assemble going forward that gets indicted then as an attorney you have an obligation to really try to explore whether you can get more information from the government suggesting that there is bias, suggesting there is unfair treatment and then try to litigate that part of a receptive judge. >> all right we will see what starts coming back. especially with the inspector

security, past the prologue with putin has been extraordinarily aggressive. -- cyber operations and metals in number election. most recently a british -- russian tru officer inside of the uk. with a nerve agent that is exclusively used by the russians. i do not expect them to do much more than continue to be extraordinarily aggressive against the west. >> but will he tried to expand his dominance on the global geopolitical stage? if he does hardy think he would go about it? >> i think he would view the world in a zero-sum game. he seeks flashpoints around the world. and opportunities to try to drop the united states down a few notches in terms of our influence. i think we can expect russia to be a not so viable partner for us in those regions.

that is what democrats have been saying on all of the sunday morning shows. they think this lease or possible constitutional crisis. i think the interesting thing to watch is how donald trump is not inserting himself interest in ways that he has been before. and is partially because his team has advised him not to attack james comey publicly. there were folks a steve bannon who previously told donald trump he should play hardball with mother right now is inserting himself showing he is not only willing to be in the middle of this but he is willing to fight tooth and nail to prove he is right and that this is some sort of conspiracy or calculated against him based on political bias. >> and now they're saying they pray the investigation ends quickly. what is the reaction to that? >> right. he then later retracted that and said that he was speaking in his personal capacity not for the president. obviously, the damage is done when he spoke to outlets in the first place. that was another example of donald trump legal team now becoming more defined in this idea that before there was in

other cars and trucks. investigators say are confident that they have removed all of the bodies now from the rubble. heavy equipment operators were finally able to free the last of the occupied cars out of eight total trust under this still under construction pedestrian bridge last night. the youngest of the victims was 21-year-old alexa durrant, a freshman at florida international university. her family who lives in miami is just devastated. >> my niece is still in her vehicle. one of the last ones to get out. luckily, her passenger, god bless him, he walked away. he will have to live with that. >> the time of the collapse there were several workers on the bridge tightening tables and an engineer with the firm told the state two days before and it was one of cracks have been discovered in the concrete. that is when the department of justice transportation worker never heard the voicemail until

addiction. we did put $1 billion of resources last year. we realize we need to do more. and get resources to help with this needed medical detox. we have about $300 million in this bill for medical assisted treatment. 300 million first responders for training because they are not medical providers. the approach on this has to be different and as a mother and a friend, a friend the other day said you know my daughter has been in and out of addiction and rehab and she said every time i see you never come up on that i don't realize, recognize, i almost hate to answer the number on my phone because i do not know and it is heartbreaking. >> it is heartbreaking and it can happen to anyone.

could prescribe for opioids. it would be the extent. >> that you have the balance of making sure that hospitals and facilities who need to treat acute pain have what they need especially injectables. >> yes we are trying to make a pathway for injectables.the important thing there is that is regulated by the dea. so there is a different avenue and it travels. and if you put a limit of three days for a patient on the opioid, you have to better have opportunity to make certain that there is not that pathway to addiction. >> all of that and you're ready for the first open senate seat of the 2018 election cycle coming up in november. are you ready for that? >> we are ready for all of them. this issue of addressing the opioid epidemic, it is something families wanted to get something done as do law enforcement. >> we be working with the
