best decisions, a year ago i wrote an op-ed, the eisenhower test for national security advisor. i looked at pres. eisenhower. he gave us our first national security advisor and wanted someone who could think outside the box and think outside the box to help prevent the next threat to the country. he wanted someone called a renaissance man, someone who knew foreign-policy but new intelligence, national security and had the breadth and depth, john bolton passes the eisenhower test. jillian: you mentioned north korea. a lot of critics in the last 12 hours said they are concerned about john bolton's views on a lot of things especially north korea with the coming talks scheduled or in the works. february 28th john bolton wrote an article for the wall street journal titled the legal case for striking north korea first. you hear that a lot of people

heather: a new york city police union wants to block the release of convicted cop killer, herman bell spent 45 years in prison for the murders of two nypd officers. the officers families never had a chance to object to his release was here to weigh in is lieut. dr. darren porcher. your initial reaction?

>> it is gut wrenching. in a commodious relationship between the police community and the parole board because herman bell has been contrite with the killing of three officers in 2012. 2012 was when he accepted responsibility but in the 1970s he did not accept responsibility. it begs the question where is the reciprocity in the parole situation? we need strong rules that govern the protection of us as citizens and not let people like this person out again. the chances of reoffending are minimal. he is a 70-year-old individual but needs to be a level of reciprocity to keep this person -- jillian: he murdered two police officers, in 1971. he murdered a police officer in san francisco, he pleaded guilty

to that, ofc. john young, member of the black liberation army, admitted to murders of nypd officers in 2012, one in san francisco, nypd officers, what will they do? >> not much can be done. the terminal component is governor cuomo who appoints the people in the parole board. he can step in and refuse his coming out and that is the focus. governor cuomo touted criminal justice reform but this is not the way to do it. criminal justice reform happens on the ground level, not when people are facing parole. jillian: how does this make you feel? you said gutwrenching but should someone like this be able to walk free ever again? >> we have to consider what happened. when we have an attack on law enforcement that is an attack on our free society because law enforcement is the first line of
