election. kelly: rob, a small group of chinese and american business owners that i spoke to on friday at rockefeller center new york, they express today me they are concerned about a possible trade war but mnuchin and bolton, they both appear to be very confident that a trade war would be everted, rob, jillian. rob: destabilizing to say the least. kelly: absolutely. jillian: america's confidence in our economy is soaring, brand-new fox news poll, americans are less nervous about our economy under president trump, as we continue to see the economy grow, what else can we expect under president trump? kevin kelly. thanks for joining us this morning. >> thanks for having me. jillian: it's been up and down this year, what do you make of that and what do you see going forward? kevin: has been going up this year especially because the administration is trying to enact new policies, we saw last

year one of the major policies they got through was tax reform and conducive to small business and they can reinvest in equipment, bonuses going out. that's played through into the market, we saw the market going up 20%, we saw the federal reserve raising interest rates, we are starting to see other central banks tightening or trying to tightening and the market is trying to get a balance especially with tightening monetary policy. jillian: fox news poll that we have mentioned, 51% of people approve, 44% of people disapprove, you can see a whole list of things, taxes, 48% approve, what do make of the numbers? kevin: people and companies know how to spend money better than government and you see it play out in the real economy, row are starting to see companies give out bonuses, companies invest in property, equipment, you saw the

hotels index was up 25%, businesses are starting to do a lot more activity. data and infrastructure real estate was up 29%. these are reciprocal parts of the economy that are doing very well because people are putting money to work to sectors. jillian: what do you say to critics, well, this doesn't happen overnight, this actually started under president obama, this isn't because of president trump, you hear that in other networks all of the time, what's your reaction to that? kevin: if you look at gdp of the previous administration, you can see that -- they never hit a 3% number and that's really telling because they had restrictive policies, think about the regulatory capture, dodd-frank, over 22,000 pages of rules and regulations, when the new administration they started repealing that, you started to see the tax policy n june of 2016, hey, listen, american tax policy is not good, 35% statutory corporate rate is not helping the economy. lowest middle class in 30 years, now you see change in that because of congress and

administration. jillian: one of the things i noticed in the notes as i was preparing for segment, buckle up, why should we prepare today buckle up? kevin: i think we will see more of that and we will see effects come through. as you allude today previous question, this doesn't happen all at once, we are expecting earn to go rise 15% year over year starting in the next couple of weeks when you start to see the first quarter, earnings report come out, you see estimates on wall street this year talking about 3,000 on the s&p 500, we are at 2588, you will see 15% upside there. you will start to see the numbers trickle through and do very well, so right now this is just short term, macro economic events and so once companies start earning and telling you how they are going to put more capital at work and how well earnings are doing, you will see the market go higher from here. jillian: one thing you cannot deny is the confidence.

rob: welcome back, president trump looking to crack down on russia yet again the white house blaming russia for attack on former spies saying the president is now weighing his options, one of those options reportedly to expel dozen of russian diplomats from the united states but as it appears a second crack-down on russia this month could be imminent, maybe even today, democrats are continue to go say that the president is soft on russia. here now to weigh in on that and whether it's warranted is the president of media group beverly and democratic strategists michael starr hopkins, michael, we will start with you, it appears in some ways that administration has been rather tough on russia while the president doesn't like to condemn verbally, almost like playing good cop, bad cop at this point. what's your make on that? >> i understand the president wanting to have good

relationship with russia and vladimir putin because they are major world powers but i think we also have to recognize the president has been harder on some americans like nfl players than he has on russia so the biggest super power in the world we lead and we have to set the precedent. rob: beverly we had act 10 or 11 days ago as far as sanctions and talking about kicking diplomats and maybe here as spy and that's how some of the secrets get out, he's been rather tough in the last couple of weeks, will he get credit for that? >> we will find out, when it comes to his staff, you saw either from state department or his press shop, they've been using words like outrageous and reference to what russia has done and so if we have an announcement by the president saying we are going to expel what the united states views as russian spies, i'm hoping that rhetoric does match and this is especially important for him because he did praise putin last week on so-called election, i'm not sure that's what he meant to do, some with saying that was a

gaffe and staff didn't want him to. i'm hoping that the rhetoric, talk-toughing president that we want him to be, i'm hoping he direct that is towards putin. rob: let's talk about that for a second, most would agree that most elections in russia have been fake and we have always congratulated the president for winning, obama did it, bush did it. we have nations around the world, china, pakistan, that we have smile and shake hands relationship even though we know that they are probably trying to undermine us, pakistan, terrorism, saudi arabia perhaps 9/11 they knew about, china with stealing our secrets and the trade deficit we talk about all of the time. why is russia such a big deal when we treat them in the same manner? >> i think russia is such a big deal because what we have seen russia has now hacked into critical infrastructure and interfered of the election, outside of normal balance of relations, we have to treat russia differently.

rob: beverly, your response. >> it's wrong for anyone to conflate any type of russia collusion which often the liberals want to point to this situation, there's no proof that trump did anything with the campaign and i don't think he helps himself with this. he has tougher talk with theresa may, the prime minister than he has around putin and i think it's important for him, especially this week to come out and support his strongest allies and condemning action by russia. rob: michael, he's been rather soft as far as narrative, maybe out of respect or fear of the nation that has very large nuclear arsenal, whatever the reason, he does himself a disservice but not making those comments? >> he absolutely does, you have seen across the country, there's the narrative that there's improper relationship between president trump and vladimir putin, he needs to ease those fears for all americans so that we can get back to business legislating. rob: is there a belief that putin and trump conspired in a darkroom to steal the election,
