everyone can see that president trump doesn't want to talk about the election because the russians were trying to help him and he fears that will be interpreted casting doubt on the legitimacy of his electoral victory. there's both realities. russians did try to help him, but trump also won. and both those facts to my mind are true. but trump has not wanted to accept both of those. one fact sort of returns against the other. so i think at some point he's going to have to be a little clearer himself. the fact he wants to be restrained in his rhetoric, i'm in favor of that. >> we hear from various sources, michael. this is as bad as relations with russia have been for years and years or decades and decades. give us a historical perspective. where are we on this scale, if there is one. >> that's a great question, shep. we're as bad as things have been since let's say the early 1980s.

shifting for tech overall. you were talking about entity us and investigations that have come out or developing for facebook but there's even one extra one as of today. in fact, face book and cambridge analytica is being sued by cook county and encompasses chicago and other area, this is a specific lawsuit, the first of its kind, saying both of these companies facebook and cambridge analytica misused data they scraped from social media. the suit said both companies violated state fraud laws. so, that's a pretty heavy charge, and if the ceo mark zuckerberg does go to capitol hill and testify on april 10th, you can believe he's going to have to field a lot of questions not necessarily about that particular lawsuit but that is going to be the spirit of the conversation with those congressional subcommittees and of course, as you know, facebook also now subject to its second

citizen. the idea is, if you roo he choir people to say whether you're a citizen or not then a lot of people won't get counted at all. that will be on the surface, less fair. what's your reporting on this? >> i think it's important to understand that if the commerce department were to go ahead with this in 2020 to require this question to be asked if t would be breaking 70 years of precedent under republican and democrat administration. while it has been included in a smaller surveys for the census, it has not been included since 1950. i think you're seeing questions primarily from democrats in states across the country warning it could impact accuracy of this data and could impact federal funding that's being sent not only to blue states but red states that have major cities with hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants and federal funding being cut off because these

populations are under represented and therefore they think they don't need as much funding. >> some critics said this is part of a pattern, gerrymandering on behalf of the last time you were able to draw, which the republicans and now suppress counting, critics would say an effort to suppress votes. what's the reporting on this. what's the nuclear louse on this? >> they cited the 1975 voting rights act saying if they include this question they will be able to enforce this and be able to protect minority populations more. activists who have been involved in pushing for more representation for undocumented immigrant the or other minority populations across the country say the opposite, that this will impede that. i think you're seeing even last month there were nearly 20 democratic attorneys generals from across the country warning

the fbi reports agents and officers arrested a man suspected of sending explosive pack annuals to military bases in and around washington, d.c. officials say they intercepted about a dozen of those packages yesterday and thankfully nobody got hurt. but investigators say the suspect may have mailed other destructive devices that they have not yet found. agents arrests that suspect in his home in washington state. he's said to appear in federal

court today. so far we don't have a word on a motive. there will be no charges filed against two white police officers who shot and killed a black man celling cds outside a convenience store in baton ro e rouge, lounge. the shooting of alton shooting in 2016 was reasonable, unjustifiabunjusand justifiable. the attorney general said the officers tried to use a taser but sterling, the suspect, kept resisting and they thought he was reaching for a gun when they shot him. >> this decision was not taken lightly. we came to this conclusion at the countless hours of reviewing the evidence. i know this family is hurting. i know that they may not agree with this decision. >> and they do not. sterling's relatives say they have never agreed with this ruling and they plan to hold elected officials accountable.
