the democrats blew it. they had a great, great chance. we'll have to take a look. >> dana: sarah sanders followed up on fox news earlier. >> the president made multiple offers on daca. he wanted to see something get done. democrats refused to put something on the table or work with the president to get anything done. they wanted these daca recipients as political pawns. the president wanted to make a deal. he made two incredibly generous offers that went far and above even what the previous administration had done on daca. democrats still refused to make a deal. i think it's because we're getting close to an election. they don't want to see the president continue to win back like he has for the last year and a half. >> dana: jesse, i will go to first. there is a debate on who killed daca. i think the truth is it wasn't going to go anywhere before the midterm election. everyone is going to try to utilize it for their advantage. >> jesse: exactly. the president offered a very generous proposal.

crying chuck denied it. president obama put forth daca. he knew it was unconstitutional. he had said he wasn't allowed to do it as president. then he changed and did it. it was challenging the courts. it was about to get rejected, so the president says let's have congress deal with immigration law because that's the right place to deal with immigration law. he comes out and puts forth an arrangement which i thought was overly generous. 1.8 million amnesty in exchange for wall funding. that was rejected. the president try to make it a broader solution and say okay let's put things that the american vote want on the table. merit-based immigration system and doing away with the visa lottery and chain migration. 75% of the country believes that. that was rejected as well. now we are in a situation where the democrats are going to campaign in the midterms that the republicans hate hispanics

and the republicans will campaign as "the democrats want illegal immigration and open borders. will we will see which narrative wins. >> dana: dnc deputy chair keith ellison on what he thinks. >> back when trump ended the daca program in september, i knew he wasn't going to do anything about it. he never had a plan for trying to fix daca and he turned down several bipartisan deals. this was always a game, a trick, he was never arguing in good faith. >> dana: the president did put a pretty generous plan on the table for going beyond the daca kids to say up to 8 million he would be willing to do amnesty. it couldn't get done. is it fair to say that for the democrats this is an election issue that's better than solving the problem? >> juan: no. how i think the democrats would

like to crow that they have solved the problem, and saved the dreamers. what you see is the proposal the president put forward didn't have the support of enough republican votes in the senate to get past her republicans didn't back what the president -- no he didn't. >> dana: he had 36. >> juan: he didn't have 52 republicans behind him. what struck me was how little relationship there is between what the president was tweeting and reality. he said there is a caravan of people from honduras, guatemala trying to make their way to the u.s. border. to request asylum because they are fleeing from the crime and cast on there. the president says these people are trying to take advantage of the dreamers. they can't apply for dreamers status. there is no relationship. he makes it out if -- as if there is one. >> jesse: it is related. if you cross the border

illegally as a migrant seeking asylum, you will get special treatment and they will consider you for amnesty. >> juan: no, they will consider you for asylum. >> jesse: amnesty or asylum, you still get to stay in that country. >> juan: there's a huge difference. in order to qualify for daca, you have to have been in the country, come in the country at a young age. >> jesse: there is no argument that not having a border wall and the daca situation still in play does attract illegal immigration. >> dana: kimberly, if you are being technical, these people, children being across the border by the parents. but it's true there is a caravan. comes around every year. this is the fifth year this group is trying to do this. they tried to deter them. you are not going to get asylum. you might be able to try to apply for it. nikki haley was in honduras this past spring saying we want to help you solve the problem at the source but you're going to have to partner with us.

>> kimberly: isn't it reasonable? go to the source the problem and say we would like to partner with you, find a positive solution. nevertheless, you can't flagrantly violate the law and expect a lot to show you consideration at expense to others who are come porting themselves in an appropriate matter following the legal guidelines. nobody is trying to step on anybody's dreams or hopes or ability to get into this country. what people are against is illegal entry. the democrats missed a great opportunity to take advantage of the positioning. what he wanted to get the 25 billion for the enhanced border wall. instead they went ahead and passed on it for political reasons which is a disservice to everyone. 80% of what they wanted. he was saying listen, we have to slow it down about this in terms of chain migration, the lottery system. put some more specific standards and practices, little more structure to make sure the right people are getting in and it's

properly background vetted. that's not an unreasonable request. what's unreasonable is the obstructionists on both sides to be frank because people acted like political party pigs and they wanted everything they wanted on their plate without an ability or reason to compromise. this is what we have. the president didn't kill daca. i think the democrats killed it. people who were too entrenched in their own political beliefs and weren't willing to compromise. >> juan: wait a second. who killed daca? the president. >> kimberly: no, he did not. >> dana: sort of a tit for tat. basically it's not getting done before the election. >> greg: it is like "murder on the orient express." they all killed daca. okay, i ruined it for you. i love agatha christie. i believe this group who was helping the hunter and refugees were hired by trump.

table. they blocked it then. >> greg: in business, if the deal gives you what you want, doesn't matter if you don't get along. you can get a deal with people you don't like. but in politics, there are no such rules. you can kill a deal and get rewarded for it because it rewards your side. there is no political consequences. >> jesse: to your point about the responsibility of both parties scuttling the deal, if you look at the republicans, a lot of those people in the pocket of big business, they want a certain amount of open borders because they want the cheap labor for the companies to come in. the democrats want open borders because it means more votes and more amnesty. meanwhile, the middle-class american workers are getting hosed. the body politic sufferers and our national security suffers. you have no idea who's coming in the country. the honduras, the border with mexico, 500 miles.

♪ >> kimberly: with the march for our lives a couple weeks ago. on friday, 75 students at a central florida high school walked out of class in support of gun rights and the second amendment. here is one of the students. >> it was important to me because the other walkout that happened on march 14 for the parkland students turned political. big support for gun control. personally, i don't believe that gun-control is the best idea. everyone has the right to have their own opinion, and i believe our right should have been expressed. in the beginning, it was a very big risk to step up and do this. it took a lot of fight with our school to get them to approve it and support us. in the end, they did support us. >> kimberly: it's good to hear different viewpoints, isn't it, on the subject? >> greg: the media praise for

the earlier protest was portrayed as independent of ideology. people came forth to say isn't it great teenagers are going out there and they care about something? that's good. if that's the case, he should have equal praise for this. if you are independent of ideology, you should say there are kids out there talking about gun control. kids talking about gun rights. isn't it great all these kids are out there? i don't think you're going to see that in the media. on a personal note, i am very, very skeptical of all teenage activism because i was one. i worked on the nuclear freeze. when i was in high school, i did it for extra credit. i got signatures to have been nuclear weapons from being transported to california. i know i wasn't thinking about it clearly. i known that i was naive and i was doing it for romantic and extra credit purposes. >> jesse: trying to get the girl. nuclear freeze. >> greg: nuclear freeze and gun-control arguments at the same in the sense you are saying

hearing that type of thing, so it does sound weird when it's all in lockstep. contrast that with the new media campaign fox news is doing, it's super sophisticated and very different. the thing that was different about it for my perspective is there was no script. we went in there not knowing what we're going to be asked or what we were going to say. maybe he thought about it a little bit. all of it was very spontaneous and authenticity is what viewers are looking for. >> kimberly: showed up with a few different colored outfits. the rest was, let it fly. >> dana: it is different and modern. >> kimberly: nobody was telling us, as every day, no one tells us what to say or do or think. it's genuinely authentic and it shows in the pew research. >> greg: i still think this is unfair. it's a mission statement they read and that's what you do. >> jesse: they rated because they can't afford to spend the money that fox spends on a nice

promotional campaign. that's fine. they don't have the budget so they did what they did. it's the same thing as a cnn promo come as you said. cnn is threatened by it because they know this sinclair piece was targeting a place like cnn. this brings me back to the fake news awards. let's remind everybody. cnn, don jr. and wikileaks, falls. the story about russia, falls. the fake story about feeding the fish, false. what did they have in common? they are fake news from the liberal mainstream media and they were all done in order to hurt president trump. when you combine that with the fact that 90% of d.c. journalists are democrats and 90% of the nightly evening news from the networks are against donald trump, people understand in this country that the mainstream media is biased, and they calculate that when they watch the news. >> greg: last word, juan. >> juan: it is telling the

donald trump immediately defended sinclair. i think that indicates to me how political this was. you can say it was a mission statement from a corporate owner but it's a corporate owner that really controls a lot of local media. i think the understanding people have when they, if they tune in to us, they say it's national media and i understand the roles, left and right. when they turn on their local news to learn about tax assessments in the school board, think they are surprised that this kind of lockstep lack of independence would exist. i think that's the power here. this is not independent anymore. your local news is now under control of somebody who is pro-trump. trump is defending them because the message, although you see it as not having any bias, it fits the trump message perfectly witches you are being assaulted by fake news that's unfriendly to me and not to be believed. now coming in your local news, people see this as insidious. >> greg: i think it fits the fox news message, fair and balanced. that's all they were saying.

liars have been. leaker's gate great press. one day i will have my say. >> juan: dana, what do you think? >> dana: she is right. the book she writes is the one everyone is going to want to read. i think she has indicated there was somebody at the white house who is no longer there who she thinks was the leaker. my experiences people who are the leakers are the one who complained about it first saying oh, my gosh. did you see this leak? yeah, you are the leaker. she doesn't seem like the one who did that. i have never been the recipient of any white house leaks, so i don't know. >> juan: you would have been the leaker. >> juan: no, not you. i know ron kessler. he is a terrific reporter. a big trump supporter, he has gone to mar-a-lago with trump. here he is attacking kellyanne. >> jesse: i am confused by it. he is a good author. a lot of the times the books are salacious and gossipy. but he's a good author and he does sell a lot of books. ever know what to think of it. i have seen kellyanne is a straight shooter and she is supported by the president. one if not the best and most articulate defender of the president. i don't think she is the leaker. i don't know that for a fact but i know if dana was to leak, she would not leak to you, juan. never. >> dana: i would be leaking to jesse watters. >> kimberly: kellyanne is going to be on watters' world? the truth teller. everybody knows who the leakers are, were, in the white house.

kellyanne not one of them. i think when she has her day to be able to tell the truth about what went on there, she is going to have a very revealing and not surprising story to tell. in terms of what transpired there. i have never known her to leak, to do anything like that. i know other people who have, that's for sure. >> juan: greg, the last thing i would say is that according to kessler, ivanka and jerrod are problems. that's what kessler writes. and that they were involved with firing comey and hiring scaramucci. >> greg: i don't think kellyanne is the leaker. she is a human being. this white house is not a perfect white house. it is a human being white house. people talk and complain and vent. i don't think anybody is actually leaking. they are venting. people hear it. i have an idea forests segment.

this year's big winner across the nation as a 17-year-old from houston, michael brown. he got into stanford but that is just 1 of 20 schools that accept of the young man and he got into all of those schools and also got full scholarships to all of them. his mom, who was a counselor, says her dreams have come true. >> dana: that is awesome. jesse? >> jesse: stanford was my safety school.
