my phone is dead. you've got to charge it. >> do you have an iphone? >> no. >> shepard: disturbing account of what's been an incredible scene inside this youtube party, as he describes it. it is 5:00 on the east coast, 2:00 p.m. on the west coast. this is fox news channel's continuing coverage of what appears to be an active shooter situation at youtube in san bruno, california, . "the five" will be seen upon conclusion of the breaking news coverage. >> a minute and a half. >> were you scared? >> this gentleman says he was ordering food directly across from the youtube headquarters and heard the shots and solid happen. i'm going to jump in and i will ask questions as we go. he says it happens at up -- was happening at a party. >> i parked in the drive through

and i ran back around the building. i went to go see. i went to check on the girl. the first girl. >> they brought her into the carl's. >> eight there is a side door. we put her in. i went back and checked. i put her leg on the table. >> and you went back out, and? to go i went back over there. the other lady was there. the guy said she's shot. she's dead. i heard it. it was clear as day. >> how many shots? >> ten times. >> rapid fire? >> it didn't stop. it was no mercy. whoever shot that time, oh, man. it was massive. >> there was a sect second victim and third victim? >> there were more shots after

that. then i didn't hear nothing. >> what was going through your mind? people being shot multiple times. people bleeding. what is going through your mind? >> i knew i had to be smart. you've got to be fast. you've got to think fast. i didn't have a gun on me but i wish i did. >> describe for me where you were. >> this gentleman says there were three victims. one was the woman we talked about earlier who was brought into the carl's with a gunshot to the leg. the second victim was a woman who was shot multiple times, rapid-fire. point-blank range, as he says, in his own words, no mercy. possibly a third victim could be heard, more shots after that. this started at some kind of party or celebration at the youtube headquarters and it began inside the facility, not outside. from what i am told, the shooter

did not walk up to the facility. i guess he was already inside and started shooting. >> shepard: ktvu fox 2 on the ground. we have gotten reports from two different hospitals. san francisco general since three to five patients. stanford hospital, they are expecting four to five patients. it's an active shooter situation and that's all the info they have. they have not received the patients yet. to our knowledge, they are expecting these patients but they haven't yet arrived which leads us to wonder if the person giving us reports on the scene is accurate. horrifying on every level. a report of one woman being shot ten times. these are witness accounts on what is clearly a very disturbing day. sometimes first witness accounts are off. we can only hope. live on scene, the live coverage, the station feed.

witnesses are giving us differing descriptions. one said there was a party going on, a luncheon for youtube employees going on inside the building. there were some reports that may be some shots were fired at or near this luncheon venue. then we heard at least two, including the man you just saw, possibly more witness reports that this spilled out into the parking lot at some point. it is unclear of that woman who made her way over to the carl's jr. with the leg wound, he leg gunshot wound was in the building or in the parking lot. the employee says he was in the bathroom. when he came out, she was already inside the restaurant, the carl's jr. where she was when she was shot would be a very good indicator because that's the first person, the first witness who talked to one of the victims. we have stringers of the various hospitals. they are telling us they have seen at least two or three

patients brought into san francisco general hospital. another four or five to stanford hospital. they don't know the conditions of the patients. we have heard nothing. public information officer we were told about 15, 20 minutes ago would have availability at the top of the hour. now we are 7 minutes past and have heard nothing. they set up a triage of sorts on the backside of the building to go through, you evaluate them or seriously injured, the lesser seriously injured. we know one ambulance brought someone away who was a "do not" -- he refused medical attention but they brought him anyway. the question remains, we had one witness say a flood of police officers went inside and they have seen no officers come out. that's a very good indication they're going room to room which is standard protocol, checking this 200,000 square-foot facility. for those drugs joining us, we are talking about 1700 -- for

those just joining us, we are talking about 1700 employees, multiple open rooms and open spaces and police will go in and check. we have not heard anything in the past. keeping a close tab on it. 37 or 38 minutes, about searching for an active shooter or any shots being fired in the last 40 minutes. as far as an indication of whether this thing is -- they are still looking for an active shooter, that in our experience, it leads us to believe the shooter is either incapacitated or is no longer on the scene. we are still monitoring some of the witness accounts, getting some reports. our abc affiliate in san francisco is reporting this was a female shooter that was wearing a black top and a white scarf and that she opened fire at or near the doorway, the backdoor way to the youtube facility. then at some point in time she

either ran out or made her way back out into the parking lot near the walmart headquarters building which is directly across the way from the youtube building. that's the last place we've heard anything about the active shooter. that's an indication that police may have more information about her whereabouts if they get to this press briefing sometime in the next few minutes. >> shepard: looked like they were setting up for that. a lot of information coming together pretty swiftly. our network new service affiliate is reporting that a woman shot her boyfriend at the youtube headquarters there and that's how all of this began. there are multiple reports that the shooter, whoever she is, has been in one way or another incapacitated. the number of victims is something we are not comfortable with reporting yet. we don't report on scanner traffic because that's the

traffic through which police communicate with each other but there are indications there is a high number of patients. i can report to you that cbs cbs 5 in san francisco is reporting that san mateo county coroner has been called to the scene and the coroner is in route as we speak. this began as a call of an active shooter situation about 12:45 west coast time. we could get nothing more from police except it was an active scene. police confirmed that was an active shooter. we have been watching as authorities frisk everyone. about 1700 1700 employees workt this 2,000 square-foot facility. laid out kind of like a college campus with easy entrance and easy exit. you heard the report of a party inside. the man had been at the carl's jr., a fast food chain in

the west coast and midwest. reporting that this guy had been in the drive-thru and heard and saw all of it. we are expecting a news conference shortly. let's listen to ktvu fox 2 san francisco. >> hope to bring you more information as soon as we get it. >> going to stanford, my impression was those injuries were not as serious as those who went to san francisco general hospital which is much closer and has a trauma center and is well known for its response to emergencies. i guess that would be good news that they wouldn't be as seriously injured. they are going to stanford. how far out do you think you are right now? >> we are about 10 minutes away. when you have multiple victims that we are hearing about, for it codify victims going to stanford and others going to san francisco. when it's this many, it's a logistical thing to try to get the victims out. you would expect that. we do expect to be there in

10 minutes and i will be in touch with the hospital and hope to be posting updates on air and on twitter. >> thank you, maureen. she makes her way to stanford, she is letting us know the number of victims. >> shepard: i want to switch over to kgo television. >> details are a little bit fuzzy. >> i can only imagine. did he have an accent or any clothing that would give away more of his identity? >> the only thing i can remember is that he looked like he was wearing gray. yeah. >> how do you think he could have possibly entered? security at youtube, are there metal detectors? are there badges to swiped in order to get in? >> i can't go much into the security of youtube but i can say they have security doors. the garage area allows walk-ins.

i come in the morning often on my skateboard and night sailed through the parking garage and i am able to get into the outside courtyard area. which is where he was. he was in an area that was technically, somebody from that public could access. >> you said your phone has been blowing up with text messages and inquiries from friends and family. what have you heard so far from the rest of your colleagues? >> i have only talked to one calling so far. i went live on facebook because everyone is hungry for information and what's happening. i have been blowing up with requests for my family and friends, trying to see if i'm all right. there was one person i believe who worked in the facility who actually witnessed the shooting. i have his interview on my phone. >> i will try to get that from

you in a little bit. would you like to pull it up now? >> shepard: as we are experiencing, conflicting reports from different witnesses on the shooter. there is no way to sort it out until police come forward. it's been our experience covering breaking news the people who witness such unusual and horrifying events see the same thing but come back with different recollections. that's why we wait for the authorities to confirm. what they have confirmed thus far is there is an active shooter situation. this is a live look inside the carl's jr. restaurant across the street. this is being shot off someone's cell phone. they have taken a camera pointing it at the cell phone and showing what it was like at the carl's jr. they are just giving the video. it is being sent back to our local station. this was about the time the shooting is happening.

this is what was going on inside the carl's jr. right across the parking lot. we are waiting for this news conference to begin. this all started an hour and a half ago. the authorities have apparently cleared the building. witnesses are showing what they saw on their phones. let's go to the reporter from kgo. again, this is coming in with no sound. apparently people who were on scene recording what they were witnessing at the time. it is somewhat unusual to have reports of these ambulances taking people to hospital but now the hospitals are saying they haven't yet received any patients or at least one of the hospitals is reporting that. the authorities haven't come forward with any thing of great substance to this point. we are reading for authorities to hold a news conference. live pictures at the crime

scene. they are zooming in on the police officers in a much more calm status at this point. it would appear -- it appears witnesses on scene that whatever was happening inside this building has ceased. they are now -- i mentioned the coroner has been called in. police are about to hold a news conference. sorting out the different accounts from witnesses is a tough thing to do. they are not all saying the same thing. >> there was a couple shootings ago. forgive me because we cover these on a frequent basis. they were a couple shootings ago we covered something in the information coming out was accurate. we commented on the air that was one of the few times we have actually seen accurate information from start to end because all the other times we have done this, the information in the early going is clearly going to be a little bit unreliable. it always is. you've got people who are panicked, running, trying to

fight for their lives and save their lives and holed up in many cases. they are not seeing the same things. when you do these active shooting scenarios in offices, like we have done them here and you have done them in new york and offices across the country, when you do these scenarios, people end up saying different things. it stands to reason you are going to get different outcomes. it's very good to point out that when the reporter was up and they were giving us an idea of the rundown, it's a great point to be made that san francisco general is a level one trauma center, one of the best in the west. the more severe patients will be taken that san francisco federal and stanford down the road, this is at the corner of interstate 280 and 380 between san francisco and the san francisco international airport. stanford is further on the 101 south.

>> shepard: excuse the interruption. we have just confirmed there is no longer a threat on scene. the shooter has been taken down, according to authorities. initial reporting from, we heard it was a female shooter and then we heard it was a male shooter. we have been told authorities are about to hold this news conference which is to begin right there in san mateo county. we are expecting that in a moment. trace, sorting out the number of victims has proved impossible. there were reporters of the hospitals. they are not getting the information. >> we have to rely on the stringers at these hospitals. we've had a couple say, these are people who raced to the hospital to get there ahead of time. they got in place and got cameras out. the question is, are they seeing people coming in from the actual shooting or are they seeing people coming in from elsewhere? that is yet to be determined.

we are talking about stanford is not a level one trauma center. very good hospital but the less serious injury patients would clearly be sent to stanford because they are pretty much equidistant. if you had to pick one and you are more seriously injured, you would clearly go to san francisco general hospital. we still don't know any kind of numbers. we hear these things on the scanner but we don't report that. we hear these things in witnesses but the numbers are always unreliable so we try to stay away from numbers and right now we hear multiple. we've heard that, multiple injuries, multiple people in triage. that's the best we know right now. there are at least four to five people affected that we know of at this point. >> shepard: live interview from fox 2. >> shorter hair. the lady that got shot in the left leg, she was the one who said -- i asked was in a man,

woman. she said it was a woman. i didn't see it. that's what i heard. the actual person who got shot and a couple other people said it was a woman. witnesses running out from the building. >> what is your name, sir? >> tim mccarthy. >> shepard: that is a witness to the woman who was shot saying that the woman who was shot told him that the shooter was a woman. we now have confirmed through the county manager in san mateo county that the shooter is down. whether deceased or not, we don't know. but in active. the threat is over. live pictures coming from kgo as people are evacuating the building. largely we wait now to find out from police the extent of the severity of this situation. let's listen live.

again, witnesses giving their account of things. as is often the case, different witnesses witness different things. it's a very large facility. they talk about this loading area where there wasn't any -- it sounds like the shooter had been in the building and then was firing outside the building, people running from the building. all of that happened before the cameras arrived. >> we draw these parallels, and this brings you back, when you don't know if it's a male or female and they talk about the fact that google was having a luncheon party. it brings you back to what happened a couple years ago here in san bernardino when the couple went in and they opened fire at the christmas party in the medical building in san bernardino. it's unclear if this google gathering was the target. it's unclear exactly now if this person never made it all the way in.

this youtube luncheon gathering. google being the parent company. the youtube luncheon gathering. that we don't know. we only have the witness accounts. when you kind of compare, was it a female? it is very rare to have a female go into an open fire on her own in any type of shooting scenario we have covered. that in itself would be exceptional. is it the scarf that is throwing people off? we know whoever the suspect is, we we had multiple witnesses come at leased two saying this person is wearing a dark shirt and scarf. this person you heard last say it was a female complexion. that's about as deep as we've gotten into the gender description so far. as to whether this person made it inside the building, that's a very big unknown. >> shepard: we were showing

aerials. what appeared to be umbrellas, red umbrellas from the live aerial. there we go. it is our understanding this is an area outback where employees come together and eat around the lunch hour a lot of days. that's a spot that has been in question. that's the one the carl's jr. patron was talking about giving his description of what he saw and heard. it is our understanding that that's the area. you can go outside from the secure area to that area. that is may be where some of this went down. the authorities have not been clear about it. we were told it 2:30 pacific time we are expected to get a statement from police on this matter. ktvu fox 2 continues to cover this live. >> targeted inside and outside. we don't know yet. hopefully we'll have that answer in the next few minutes with this news briefing. >> we heard from the city

manager of san bruno, letting everyone know there wasn't a threat to the public. you can see that in the demeanor of law enforcement, firefighters, other officials who responded. it's almost as if there is a little bit of a sense of relief. preparing the scene -- the investigation will obviously continue but the rush, the "we need to get in there and figure this out," it appears the initial threat is over. we heard from the city manager there is no longer a threat to the public. take a look at this map. this gives you an idea, the neighboring businesses, people nearby who either via their cell phones out and recorded what they were saying or called us here to tell us what they were seeing going on. the youtube headquarters indicated with the red square. a couple neighboring businesses. we have spoken to people at the carl's jr. it appears that the people at the carl's jr. really had -- i hate to say this but a

first-hand account of what was going on. seems as though there was at least some shooting that they were able to see. we know a couple victims ran into the carl's jr. looking for help. we heard from one whit is who said he wrapped a bungee cord to try to stop the bleeding on a woman who was either shot in the leg or foot and then taken to the hospital. i know earlier on, you spoke to someone who was at the walmart e-commerce building and she told you what she saw during all of this. >> she said seven shots. she specifically said seven shots. and then silence. she said she looked out the window and saw people running out of the youtube building with their hands in the air. >> shepard: the report alive on scene. let's listen. >> witnesses said that to you. >> i couldn't speak to that. >> does anyone know, if the shooter is a woman or man? >> shepard: a

behind-the-scenes look. a feed going to our station ktvu fox 2. reporters are working to figure things out. >> made their way trying to get help from people at those restaurants who rendered first aid to help those people out. >> we are getting new information coming in a moment ago. i mentioned seeing the body covered with yellow tarp. we are getting confirmation from the san mateo county coroner that that office has indeed been requested to respond to the youtube headquarters scene of the shooting, the scene of this active shooter situation. they would not elaborate on exactly what they are being called for but one can assume the corner only responds to at least one person dead. the headline at this hour as we sit and wait to hear from the san bruno police chief who is expected to update us on the ongoing situation, the

san mateo county coroner is responding to the youtube headquarters. >> shepard: live pictures of what appears to be a window shot out. if the reports from witnesses are accurate, there was certainly a lot of gunfire. we heard one witness described a victim being shot as many as ten or 11 times. that's what the witness said, the local anchors mentioned we are expecting the san mateo sheriff to come and give details in a moment. we have indications the president has been briefed. the feds are staying out of it for the moment. the fbi has been notified. they are watching, letting locals take it, handle it. atf is en route to the scene. alcohol, tobacco, and firearms. en route to that scene. waiting to hear from authorities. scheduled to be in a minute and a half. for those of you who may be joining us to expect to see

"the five" or local programming on your local station, this is continuing coverage of what has been reported by police to be an active shooter situation and youtube headquarters in san bruno, california, . san mateo county. the authorities have now told us that the active shooter situation is over. the shooter himself or herself, we really can't know until authorities give us the definitive word on that, at any rate, the shooter has been taken down and the urgency of the matter has passed. live report coming from the scene. let's listen. >> talking to some witnesses who do not want to go on camera. one told me, as you were saying, the shooter is a woman and that she apparently killed herself after what they believe, shooting her boyfriend. we don't have any confirmation from police. police are being very tight-lipped. i believe you said the san bruno police chief is going to be holding a presser and putting out the fine details to this. from what i am hearing from witnesses, the shooter was a

woman, and b, she may have taken her own life after shooting her boyfriend. we don't know what precipitated the violence. >> do you know how these people know this information? did they witness that? >> a lot of these people are witnesses or were very close to the shooting scene when this all went down. i don't have direct knowledge as to whether they know they woman, et cetera. >> did they say anything about her relationship to youtube or the boyfriend's relationship to youtube? what is the connection? >> haven't gotten that. i am guessing one or both worked at youtube but i don't know because as we said earlier, there was some kind of private party or function and youtube headquarters. maybe that's how she was able to get in. i don't have the exact tie between youtube and the shooter. we are still working on it. >> whenever you talk to these people, do they describe themselves as youtube employees or as you say just people in the

area who witnessed some of the chaos? >> a lot of these people are people who were in the area who witnessed the chaos who were close enough to either hear the rounds were see people running or help people to safety, et cetera. that's where we are getting a good portion of our information. a lot of youtube employees are the ones you saw walking out with their hands in the air aio show law enforcement they are not a threat. that's kind of standard procedure. >> i want to go back to something you said earlier. just to clarify, it seems that the carl's jr. was crucial in all of this. that's where some of the shooting victims sought help and treatment. at least three people who went into the carl's jr.? have you been able to confirm those numbers? >> one woman went into the carl's jr. we have some new video we will try to get to you as soon as we can. from a cell phone video of one of the people in carl's jr. when that woman was brought in.

there is a cluster of people attending to her on top of one of the tables in the corner of the restaurant. i think it was that corner that you can see right there. i believe it was that corner. we have video of that. that's one person brought in and the other people were shot outside, one outside the youtube complex and one inside. >> live in san bruno with the information that this was a woman who shot her boyfriend and then killed herself. that's according to people who say they have seen about or heard this information and are passing it on to jesse. >> let's get an update from paul chambers live outside san francisco general with an update on the number of people being treated there. paul. >> three people, to females and one male. you can see the public information officer behind us give us updated information. one person in fair condition. one person in serious condition

and one person in critical condition. the person in critical condition is the man. we are told he is 37 years old and the, one of the women is in her 30s and the other is in her 20s. we hoped to have a press conference with more detailed information. three victims brought here. two females, one male. one in fair, one end good, one in critical condition. i told you about it being under lockdown. the emergency ward is still in lockdown. this is something they do normally when there are a high number of patients coming to an area like this, especially when there has been a mass shooting. that's the reason why they are in a lockdown situation. at 3:30, there will be updated information with more about the seriousness of each person. one is critical. one is serious. one is in fair condition.

>> did that person give you any indication how many more patients might be going to sf general? >> we asked that and he would not elaborate. he said they were more patients coming here we've been out here for about an hour and we haven't seen additional ambulances coming here. we are about 9 miles from the scene. we would expect to see more coming. when we find that out, we will let you know. he said a press conference at 3:30 with a surgeon to give us detailed information. >> i know they are working all of it out but did the person say if the man, the 37-year-old man, if he had been shot more than one time? >> they would not elaborate on that. we asked a lot of questions he basically said he wouldn't give those details. he did say the man was in critical condition. >> thank you. i want to point out we have been told the san bruno police chief was going to have a conference at the bottom of the hour. it is now 2:34.

they may be getting it altogether. now we can say at any moment we expect to hear a news conference from the san bruno police chief to tell us what's going on. now as we look back and reevaluate what we have, it appears we have a female shooter who was at the youtube headquarters or some kind of celebration or event inside the building. apparently she targeted a boyfriend. this is all information getting passed on to our reporters on the scene and this will be vetted by the police chief momentarily. apparently she was targeting her boyfriend. the boyfriend was shot. we don't know that status. several other people were shocked as we are hearing. we are at now at least six victims suffering from gunshot

wounds and the shooter, the woman apparently shot herself and we know that the san mateo county coroner has been called to the scene whether or not -- >> shepard: let's go to the news conference. >> i would like to give you a quick briefing on the timeline of what we know and where we are at. bear with me. the information is coming in. it's a fluid situation. we are doing the best we can to keep everybody up to date. at 12:46:00 p.m., san bruno police department received numerous 911 calls regarding gunshots. san bruno police arrived on scene at 12:48 and began searching for a possible shooter or suspect. upon arrival, officers encountered numerous -- it was chaotic. we did encounter one victim with a gunshot wound towards the front of the business as we

arrived. several minutes later while conducting a search of the premises, officers located a second individual with a gunshot wound. may have been self-inflicted. we are still working on confirming it. two additional victims were located several minutes later in an adjacent business. the extent of all of the injuries of our victims are unknown right now. they were all transported for emergency medical care. they are all unknown. if i missed that, we have four victims. they have all been transported for gunshot related injuries. we have one subject who is deceased inside the building with a self-inflicted wound. at this time, we believe it to be the shooter but we are still following up. multiple law enforcement agencies have responded and we are grateful for everyone's help and assistance. we could not have responded without ever buddies help.

this is an active event, inactive investigation. numerous law enforcement personnel are still conducting a search of the business to make sure it's clear. we conducted a quick, immediate search of the premises. first officers arrived according to active shooter protocol. now we are going through with a methodical, slow search to make sure we cover all the bases. that's all i have at this time. we hope to have something a little later. i cannot give you the time of the next press update. we will put that out as soon as we have it. been transported and are being treated for injuries that are treatable. my understanding is the building has been evacuated. we are trying to contact a large amount of people to try to identify and gain information. you can imagine it's a monumental task with the number of employees that work inside the building. >> reporter: weapons. >> i don't have that informatio information. i haven't taken inventory, there are numerous agencies. we work well with our neighboring partners and we are grateful they are here but there is a lot of them. i want to clarify that we did locate a victim with what we believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a female. the investigation is still ongoing. >> ex-employee question! i don't have that information.

we are clearing the building and searching the building in eighth slow and methodical manner. we have no information to suggest there is someone else and there we are looking for. >> where are the employees now? >> a lot of employees self evacuated. we have identified people we want to talk to in our staging areas. we are trying to do it as orderly as we can. and a lot of people, pretty hectic scenario. it's a task. i believe, my understanding is the building has been evacuated. they are all outside. >> how many people are we talking about? >> several hundred. i don't know. >> boyfriend? >> i have no idea. i don't know the circumstances. i don't want to eliminate any

possibilities. i don't know any of that for sure. this is still active. we are still investigating this as i am speaking to you. there is a lot of things i simply don't know right now. that's all i have. i will get back to you as soon as i can. thank you. >> shepard: though this particular officer was less specific, we have gotten other specific reports from law enforcement that the suspected shooter is a female, that suspected shooter is a woman he was describing who is deceased on scene. you heard him say there was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. pictures you just saw of the umbrellas in the seating area. believed to be near the area where all of this happened. a number of victims. trace gallagher monitoring along with us from our west coast news hub. trees, terrifying story that came from the carl's jr. patron across the street. no mention of any of that stuff. >> the deputy seemed to answer the biggest questions that we were talking about. did the shooter make it inside?

the answer to that is yes because we know she was found inside because the deputies said she was found inside. apparently the "los angeles times" is reporting this was domestic violence. this has not been confirmed by police, but that's the way this thing looks to be shaping up. now we have a case where there were four victims transported. we know one is in critical condition. one is in serious condition, and the other to apparently do not have life-threatening injuries. we don't really know if that is all-encompassing. in other words, we believe that the victims were taken to san francisco general hospital which is a level one trauma unit. we don't really know if that also includes, we believe it does we are not 100% sure, if that includes the patients who were also taken to stanford medical center. we do know that there was apparently one fatality and that was the shooter by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. reporting the way this went down is that the police went inside

the building and they opened up a room and they found the suspect and her apparent target. they had both suffered gunshot wounds. that's where they were located. there was all of this talk about employees running to carl's jr., bullets being fired outside, someone in the doorway, that's not the picture police are painting at all. they are painting a picture of a woman who apparently went in with an intended target and there were other people shot in the same capacity, but we are hearing a very different story from the pio then we have heard from many of the witnesses early on about a woman who opened up the back door and opened fire. then you had victims running over to carl's jr. there was a victim that went to carl's jr. but apparently that person at one point in time was inside youtube's headquarters and made her way out into the parking lot, realized she was shot and went into carl's jr. and asked for help. four victims that we know of.

five victims actually. one fatal, four taken to san francisco general hospital. one critical, one serious, and the other two nonlife-threatening. right now we are waiting for the rest of this to be sewn up for us. it does not appear to be terrorism. it appears to be domestic violence. this situation it youtube for the time being appears to be very well contained. >> shepard: noted that these very specific stories of multiple shots and someone being killed before their eyes, notably not one word on any of that and no word on anyone deceased except the shooter herself which is quite an extraordinary thing to try to put together. >> two extraordinary things, one that it is a female shooter and two that there were not more fatalities. not to discredit there were witnesses say someone was

opening fire. we don't know if this person went in and started opening fire looking for the intended target. that may very well up in the case. what we do know is the final scenario was the shooter and apparently the intended target in a room together, both with gunshot wounds. other people certainly were shot in the process. again, when we talk about four victims, there were somewhere that four people were shot. we don't know that. the police never said four people were shot. there were four victims taken to hospitals. we don't know if they suffered gunshot wounds. often times in these cases, they suffered trampling wounds of people trying to get out of the building and often times they fall and hurt themselves. it's not always gunshot wounds. we are trying to keep the facts contained where we know they are. that is four victims. we know two of them have gunshot wounds because one is critical and one is serious. we know that two people in some capacity were wounded. we just don't know exactly how that happened.

>> shepard: trace gallagher, thank you. live report. let's listen. >> the person inflicted that wound on their body. the four people being treated, the injuries survivable. that's what we know. they don't have much information beyond that to say that right now they are in the face of questioning about 100 people. most of the employees in the building have left on their own for the day. they have a separate staging area they hadn't told us where they are holding the people they are questioning. that's what we know. the chief says he will have another press conference sometime later tonight. perhaps we will glean new information about what happened inside the building as far as how the officials are handling it and what they are looking for. a motivation, what drove this woman to come in here and start shooting and injuring four people. we will hopefully get some update and this very tragic situation inside the youtube headquarters in san bruno.

>> i want to go back. you mentioned the chief would not really discuss anything about the weapon used. we did hear in police audio as dispatch was going out and they were responding. they indicated a gun had been recovered. the police chief would not elaborate on what type of gun was used. >> he would not elaborate on that. when he was asked about what type of weapon was used, he said he didn't have that information. it's possible there are several agencies. the san mateo sheriffs office, including the san bruno police department. i heard that the sheriffs office was leading the investigation but obviously that might have changed since the earlier part of things were unfolding. the san bruno police chief gave that update. he would not say what type of weapon was used. the way he said it after that was he didn't know. it was possible he hadn't yet gotten an update from other

investigators here on the scene trying to figure out what went wrong. >> we know atf is on the scene. when you have atf involved, you've got experts. they will be able to find out everything there is to know about that gun and how this woman came to be in possession of it. you are talking about the 100 people that the chief wanted to get more information from. with these the people that were and whatever that event was earlier today where apparently this all started, the gunshot started? >> he would not say. he leaned on the comment that he didn't know. he said they identified these 100 people who could provide some additional information as part of their ongoing investigation but he didn't know what role they played. >> shepard: lots of people to be interviewed. heather holmes and ken wayne in san francisco. our coverage continues of this breaking news in breaking news in san mateo county right after this.

california. 200,000 square-foot facility that houses about 1700 workers. and today, the best reporting we have from police is that there is one person who is dead and it would appear that this woman was the shooter and that there are others who are injured and in hospitals. you may have heard the police spokesperson they are telling us that four people had been taken to san francisco general hospital, where we are speaking, the researchers are speaking with san francisco general hospital, reports are ao were at san francisco general with varying degrees of injuries and that all of them are expected to survive. we know that they are also expecting to receive some other patients who were more likely wounded and another hospital, about equidistant, as trace gallagher reported from this facility, received patients there as well. the president has just tweeted on this matter. he has been briefed. it is now clear.

here is the tweet. "we've just been breached at the shooting on youtube's shooting at san bruno california. our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved everything you two are phenomenal law enforcement and first responders that are currently on the scene." there was another tweet as well but we'll get to that when it comes in. these are live pictures from the scene in san mateo county. we are expecting another police update as you heard but we are not sure of the timing on that. our local station, kgo, the network news service affiliate, the local station, fox 2 for the bay area all reporting that this scene is quiet, they are now interviewing people and to say that people are being held is not accurate. it's just they are being kept in the place and interviewed while the thoughts are fresh. we have no explanation for those who presented themselves at witnesses to the television cameras across the street from
