on wednesday. rob: i am rob schmidt. our top story this morning donald trump souring to secure the border with the military until his wall is built. jillian: mexico claims it will disband a caravan of illegal immigrants marching towards the us but turns out it may be helping them instead. garrett tenney has the developments. >> reporter: donald trump told us the mexican government has intervened with that caravan of migrants but it was not to stop them altogether. mexican immigration authorities intercepted the group in southern mexico supporting several hundred people but according to the washington post and others many of the thousands still remaining migrants were granted temporary legal permits giving them 20 days to leave the country. organizers say most of the migrants plan to use 20 days to travel north to the us. >> migrants should not be

justify the border wall? to weigh in, resident fellow in law and policy, center for immigration studies andrew arthur, thanks for coming on this morning. i find it hard to believe mexico cares about the hondurans in this situation because they had their ambassador on a couple days ago talked about admitting the fact that mexico throws out something like 100,000 other central americans a year who sneak into their country so what makes us believe mexico would be trying to help these people get where they are going? >> mexico is an asylum granting country, signatory to international conventions but the fact is they do an effective job in forcing their own immigration laws but don't do a good job helping us enforce our immigration laws. jillian: the border wall even if it were approved is not going to happen overnight.

what can be done now to solve the problem we are facing? >> i agree with donald trump that we need to activate the national guard, have the military assist our border patrol agents and understand the role they play would primarily be a logistical role, helping with monitors and sensors freeing up border patrol agents who will apprehend these individuals. that doesn't mean they will go back home. rob: the president threatened to mess with nafta, helping hondurans get to the border and push them across. is that a good threat to make? would that be impactful in mexico if their products were marginalized in this country? >> it will be impactful in mexico and the united states. the effect is yet to be seen. we do generally have a fairly good relationship with mexico.
