6000 national guard troops sent to the southern border by the bush administration, 1200 national guard troops sent by the obama administration in 2010. what does donald trump hope to accomplish and what can he accomplish by doing this? >> he wants to harden the border, make it more secure. what we see going on is things moving, the national guard will look for volunteers to assist on the border. they will do aerial surveillance, focus on assisting border patrol, repair fences, roads, shore up sections where the wall might be. and making it a much tougher border to cross. heather: ms group of soldiers

i say safety trumps privacy and they used to say trust but verify. parents need to be on top of what their kids were doing. heather: the next topic, smoking with children under the age of 6 could soon be illegal in columbus ohio. should more cities do the same thing? does this not apply to kids regardless whether they are 6 or 7-year-olds? >> interesting you would think this is something that would have happened a long time ago. we know secondhand smoke increases risk of respiratory infection, middle ear infections, so this is a public health issue, smoking around children is child abuse plain and simple. heather: some states have smoking laws for underage kids ranging 18 years old down to 8 years old is the youngest so far. you were speaking to this but

what can happen inside a car for all of us? >> there is no safe level of secondhand smoke. even with the window down no parent should ever be smoking around their child for not only physical reasons but psychological reasons because kids are modeling the behavior of their parents and should not be sending the message that smoking is okay. heather: the opposite argument, more regulation. less government regulation being involved in our personal lives is always important but at the same time people don't make the best choices. >> that is true. this is an issue for me that is not about politics or overregulation but public health and that is something that is in the right place. heather: nicely said, thank you for joining us, appreciate it. the time is 15 minutes until the top of the hour. enough to going viral to spread
